Ikuko was helpful and already started communicating with me on my arrival plans 2-3 days before my stay. On the day of my arrival she kept constant communications and asking how I was - it made me feel welcomed. On the room itself, the attic room is very special and quaint. I loved the whole set up. It felt like a little adventure out of a Harry Potter book climbing into your room. Though the surroundings are peaceful, there could be a little noise from the cars and night train. Make sure you bring some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The convenience store just across the street makes life much easier! I also loved the simple but nice breakfast. Eating right beside the kitchen where the hosts are preparing coffee and breakfast gave me a homely feel. I also caught the view of Mount Fuji just from the second floor beside the kitchen! It was a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend this place.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the artistic studio at Epinard. Ikuko and her husband Masami were very welcoming and made us feel at home right away. From picking us up at the train station to dropping us off and helping us get on the right train on the way out of town, they were there for us whenever we needed. We spent a lot of time and ate all meals together (homemade Japanese food that was delicious), and really got to know each other. They have three sons, two of which we had the chance to meet and eat with. Lovely family and very open with us. The loft itself was a neat space - very Bohemian and artsy. Felt kind of like cottaging/camping for those of you out there that enjoy that. As other reviews say, the washroom is a bit of a trek in the middle of the night if you need to use it, but that was our only issue (and it was only a minor inconvenience). Would stay here again if given the opportunity.

Already trying to figure out a way to get back to Oiso. This town captured my heart. Surrounded by mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Masami and Ikuko are generous, warm hosts. They care deeply about community. They made us breakfast every morning and on Saturday they had a dinner party followed by live music. Three days here was not enough time.

Beautiful traditional style house with very well equipped kitchen. Kosuke was an excellent host who picked us up from the station, he also offered to take us back to the station on the day we left. We also ate at Kosuke's restaurant in the town center which was a beautifully decorated small style pizzeria. Would recommend to anyone visiting in the future.

It's a wonderful traditional Japanese house that has everything we need like clean, roomie, big sitting room, well facilitated kitchen, beautiful garden, cute balcony full of sunshine...... Same as the host says there is a very nice Hot Spring w mountain Fuji view located five minutes driving away and delicious Japanese restaurant nearby. The owner is very polite and offer warm hospitality. Definitely we will come back some time in future!

We were very pleased with our stay at Kosuke's lovely place. The cottage may look old but it offers all modern necessities that will guarantee a comfortable stay. It is very spacious for a family of three or four; the cooking set at the kitchen is comprehensive enough for a nice meal and there's a great supermarket only 10 mins away by walking. Gotenba is a beautiful small town with tons of hidden gems to explore (e.g., the amazing Royal park near the cottage. Kosuke is a friendly host and has helped us a lot during our stay. I highly recommend his place for whoever wants to get a taste of authentic Japanese-style living.

It's definitely a wonderful Japanese cottage with beautiful scenery and all equipments. Kosuke is a nice person. He picked us up and showed the supermarket and bus station in the city to us by his car. The cottage locates on a very good place, really close to the station where we can take the bus to different spots, such as Outlets, Hakone and other Japanese cities. We had impressive experience in the cottage and recommend it to all the tourists.

Stepping into Kosuke-san 's cottage is like stepping into the past. It's an interesting exerience living in an old Japanese home. The cottage is on the outskirt of a quaint neighborhood. The day we arrived, there was a neighbourhood carnival, which was very cool to visit. This property is probably best for 6 to 8 person. It felt a little too quiet even when there were 4 of us. Kosuke-san was really kind. He picked us up from the bus interchange the day we checked in and dropped us off at the premium outlet when he heard that was our destination.

I do suggest getting to know the bus system prior to your visit, as it will be your lifeline to getting around the area and reaching the many tourist attractions within the vicinity. this house has made me dream of having my own hot springs! this is a gorgeous house with a gorgeous view and a fantastic hot springs and cedar bath. Gabe was a great host, communicative and very helpful. he provided lots of recommendations on things to do in hakone and recommended a great restaurant nearby. his house is a few minutes walk from a bus which can take you into pretty much all of the stuff to see around the area. I can't recommend this place enough !

Perfect for a private relaxing getaway. Spacious house ideal for couples and families. The onsen baths were amazing and the highlight. House is comfortable and equipped with everything you'll need. Sheets, futons and towels provided. Bus stop right outside the complex and close driving distance to convenience stores. Gabriel was a perfect host and very responsive to our messages when we needed assistance with starting the onsen.

We had a wonderful time at Gabriel's house in Hakone. It was the perfect, serene break from busy Tokyo. It was rainy and cold while we were there in Autumn, but it is hard to leave the house because it is so cosy and beautiful. The house is as described in the listing. It is well appointed, easy to find, following Gabriel's instructions which were very good. Gabriel was also very responsive and helpful via the AIrBnB message app. Both the indoor and outdoor hot spring onsen were delightful. We were looking forward to this for six months and were not disappointed. Gabriel has done a fantastic job of creating a little oasis. I would recommend staying at this place to anyone and have done so to my friends. We would definitely stay here again, if we ever had the opportunity. It's a good idea to take your own food, as the walk to and from the shop can be a bit treacherous, particularly in the dark - catch the bus! The buses are frequent and easy. It would be easiest to take a car, but we managed perfectly well without one. A big thank you to Gabriel for letting us stay, soaking up the beautiful view, birdsong from the steaming onsen. If you have the the chance to stay here, do so!

Gabriel's place was AMAZING! Very large home with plenty of room to spread out and relax. The hot spring was nice and hot and smelled of sulfur! Both bedrooms were well equipped with plenty of blankets and pillows, and the massage chair was very nice especially since this was our last few days on our 2 week honeymoon in Japan. Kitchen was perfect! We left a few cup noodles in the kitchen for the next guests. We arrived late in the night and didn't have a car so we weren't able to go out and get dinner. As he states clearly in his listing, you can easily walk down to the multiple convenience stores but BE AWARE it is quite a hike back up the mountain. We are hoping to visit again very soon!

Yumiko is a very kind host. She will do her best to make you comfortabel and relaxed She loves to interact but also leaves you to youre privacy when you need it. She will tell you what you can visit and so on. Sightseeing is nearby and there is enough that you can see in the area. Clean and cozy I traveled here from Tokyo because I needed a break from the city. This was the perfect place for me to find that break. Kind and generous host, relaxing environment with several parks nearby to hike around and explore. The bike was my favorite feature. One day I biked around for at least six hours exploring.. As we choose here for the last night stay in Japan, it's definitely a pleasant one, in a quiet and remote village with lovely peoples. The house is cozy and clean. The host family was really patient as we had delayed a lot on arrival, and nice enough to pick us up at the JR station. They got cute babies, quiet lifestyle; we gossiped a little bit about the wife and husband's romance during a pleasant morning chat. I would visit here next time I am in Japan. Kaori has a big house with garden, and many car parks. Where we slept is a big room, one side of the room is sliding door that made by glass without cover, at first I was feeling a bit less privacy but anyway there is only us. My children love this place because they can move around with big space and some toys to play. We love the bathroom so much especially in winter. Very good facilities like massage chair, heater in bathroom changing area, washing machine and dryer, with washing detergent, body lotion, bath powder, etc. Kaori very friendly and provide us many informations, also very kind to let us use her car park at Enoshima for the next day we visit. Good place to stay!

my family and i fell in love with the house it was our dream house! it was a traditional ryokan with a pinch of contemporary. it also has a massage chair that is so amazing! eveything was clean,futons were fresh and fluffy! although, the place was a bit far from the station and cannot be reached by walking, thank kamisama kaori san was very generous and helpful she fetched us and drove as back to the station in the morning. kaori san was very responsive and accommodating and she lets you feel that she is excited to have you come to her place. this is the best place we had during out stay in japan. i would love coming back to your house kaori san

We stayed at Kaori's place as group of friends who had not been together for about a decade. It was an authentic Japanese house and the host was even better . Kaori kindly accommodated our last min request for extra beds. She even offered to pick us up from the train station. She had a huge box of legos and that kept the kids busy. She was very accommodating with the little noise that the kids made. She was very warm and friendly towards us and even packed some snacks for the kids to have on their way back, when we left the next morning., which we thought was a great gesture!! The pictures of the place do not do enough justice, it is much more beautiful, authentic Absolutely loved her place and highly recommend. Kaori is an absolutely wonderful host.

Takahashi was a great host! He was able to meet us at the train station and had bikes for us to use. We were late getting in due to us missing our connecting train but he was extremely gracious about it. His home was amazing and had everything we need. He explained everything in great detail and made us feel at home. Oiso was a cute little town and a nice getaway from busy Tokyo. We wished we stayed longer!

The area was nice but a bit sparsely lit with local supermarkets, conbini and fast food places all within walking distance. The main Street was newly paved and replete with weekend cyclist and bicyle commuters. There's also apparently a local special built bicycle park with a minimal entrance fee. If you head east and towards the coast, there is a significant surfing culture taking advantage of the local waves and families enjoying weekend festivals. The house itself is large and spacious with nice beds and warm comforters. Owner has a dog that he stated barks. If your a dog person, you may only hear 'Koro' bark once or twice. We had a great stay in Oiso, the host even picked up our baggage first and later us, so he came to the station twice!

Takahashi-san was a very good host who ensured that my family and I were able to find his house, even if that meant riding out to meet us on a bicycle after sunset. Location-wise, it takes about 20 minutes of walking to get to his place from the train station and has slopes along the way. It can be quite taxing for older persons. Takahashi-san was also very thorough in explaining the usage of various household facilities. It was also very kind of him to allow us to use his bicycles to get around. His flexibility with the check out time was also very much appreciated. House is pleasant, clean, and in a very quiet neighbourhood. loved the traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and mattresses! Thank you for the hospitality (:

The house is very nice, neat! Beautiful environment, quiet! Guest room on the first floor, a living room can be used, very convenient and comfortable. The landlord is very nice man, he kept a dog, the dog is white, very cute. Lived here one night, the three of us to have left a good impression. The next time you come Hakone, will choose here.

It was a really nice stay . Mr Takahashi is so nice and kind of like a home stay . The room was so quiet and I had a sound sleep here. The room to the wide, to have prepared well what is needed, I think that it was good. Guide book about the trip also to prepare a lot. The rooms are Japanese-style room, I am very fond. Bet a soft, warm, we sleep well. The landlord is also kindness. When I arrived, landlord came to meet you at the station. Three days, was really taken care of. Is about 15 minutes' walk from the room to the station. But, the landlord gave me to prepare the bike. It is very convenient. When parking is necessary to be careful. Without knowing, I would leave the bicycle in the parking prohibited zone. As a result, it was passed the warning letter. (But, it was fortunately okay) Also I think that it is convenient to go to, such as Hakone and Yokohama and Kamakura from here. This time also I went to Kanagawa Prefecture, also I want to be here.

The place can be difficult to find if you arrive after sunset when it is dark but host was helpful and met us at the nearby McDonald's when we were lost in the neighbourhood. The place is big though looks dated and old.

Thank you Honda (Ken) for the use of your home. I loved the beach decor and we did go swimming at the beach which is just right around the corner from your home. We did a day trip to Hakone and went to an onsen. Very relaxing.. Thank you again. Joe & Melaney Aldaco

This is a super cool house, we can walk from the house to the beach soon, the host is very talkative, it was a pleasant trip. If there is a chance, we will come here.

Such a great little house, totally clean, and a good size compared to similarly priced places in Japan. The host is really helpful and responds quickly. It's a little far from Hakone, but in a cute area in itself. The house is really lovely.

We were allowed to use the time in the Hakone trip. Sea's view was very good near! Amenities of any kind was saved have been enhanced! Also those of the host who have a very kind, I would like also to use if there is an opportunity!

Saul and l cannot express enough gratitude for our time with Ikuko, Masami and their family including Libby & Koskue the dog and goat. They welcomed us into their home so warmly,showed us around their lovely town and we made gyosa,went on mountain walks,tried calligraphy , private temple tour, ate the most delicious home cooked meals throughout ,amazing sashimi, sake, laughter, great conversation, a truly quirky and unique home and beautiful creative people to be lucky enough to meet. I urge everyone to make sure you stay here when visit Japan ! It was our favourite stay in our whole Japan trip. We miss you all and hope to visit again in future

Best for the rich sea nor pool near the vacation! The room is clean and interior is also nice. All it will be in the picture. If the host also was impressed by the warm people. Épinard is a centrifuge of creative energy. I stayed for 5 days, and was very tempted to skip the rest of my plans in Japan to stay for the rest of my trip! // I arrived late from Haneda airport (about 1.5hr journey), and Ikuko & Nakazato came to pick me up from the Oiso station. The following day, they hosted a 2-day creative art workshop series, and invited me to join. The entire community was very welcoming, and made Épinard feel like home. I wound up making many friends who I will definitely be keeping in touch with. // Ikuko made a delicious breakfast every morning, and showed me around Oiso to the various restaurants (including her family's Udon shop!) for lunches and dinners. They happily invited me with them to the Hakone onsen (hot springs, 1/2 hr away), with the neighbors for a home made sushi picnic in park surrounded by blooming sakura, and for big walks through the big park gardens across the street from the studio. It rained a bit during my stay, but there's a beach 5 minutes away, and the mountains are close on the other side. Oiso is not your typical tourist destination, which makes it all the more special and authentic. // The room (I stayed in the bedroom, not the attic) can get cold at night, but there is a space heater and tons of blankets. The tatami mat was comfortable to sleep on. There is no private bathroom in the room, so you either use the family bathroom (across the hall) or guest bathroom (down the stairs). Did I mention you can see Mount Fuji from the bathroom window? // There is a ton of space to chill out and relax, work, explore, or make art. There are always creative and interesting people cycling through their little cafe. This would be a perfect spot for a DIY artist-in-residency, working on creative projects, or rejuvenating & relaxing in the beautiful Japanese country-side. // The entire family is very creative, inspiring, enjoyable to be around, and full of positive, supportive energy. The studio is beautifully designed, full of treasures, and very well loved. // I was very sad to leave at the end of my stay, but somehow I know I'll be back. This was the most amazing experience, and I feel like part of the family.

We had a wonderful stay. Ikuko and Masami went the extra mile to ensure that the guests enjoy their time at Oiso. A memorable highlight of our visit in Japan during sakura season.

A bit far away, for car travelers. The landlord is very friendly, we did that day 0:00 to let the landlord until late at night very embarrassed. The landlord is a young couple, but also very cute children. Prepared breakfast for us! If you arrive early you can do BBQ, and too little time, unfortunately. Recommended! We san wa, と い shi te mo excellent desu. Yue shi ta ka っ ご over time wo shi ma shi ta.ご thou ri ga-u za i ma shi ta.

It was a fantastic experience living (like a local) at Hatsue's house! We were lucky enough to have Japanese traditional home-cooking meals while staying over the new year and were treated as part of their family. And his three cute kids made our stay even more memorable:)

The place is perfectly suited for families with Kids who want to experience Japanese home stay. Hosts were very friendly and quick to mix with our family, never felt like meeting first time. kids were also very cute and our our kids had a nice time playing with them. There are nice sight seeing places around accessible by car. Good fore a peaceful vacation when you just want to relax.

We have a lot of gratitude for the host who welcomed us into his Japanese family. Our kids played with 3 children - very very cute - the family and it was a very good experience for them. The family spoke better English than us Japanese. The old house is gorgeous. We really felt welcomed - Doumo aligatou.

We were able to send the fun moments in the spacious listing. Also I would like to go to play.
