Harmer Hill Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Harmer Hill

We have 2 rooms available in our large and welcoming family home. We're a 10-15 minute walk from the train station & town centre, with parking available! We have a cat called Evie so please note our home won't be suitable for those with allergies.
The room is in a welcoming family home in an area close to the town centre. With over 25 years of living in Shrewsbury we can provide recommendations, fun facts and stories about our town. There are currently 3 people living in the house, my parents, Siobhan and Ian, and myself, Mica. We're a friendly bunch and growing up our home was always a warm and welcome hub for our friends and family, we hope you feel the same if you decide to come and stay!
We're close to town and the River Severn. There are some great walking routes and historical buildings in the vicinity, with plenty of play parks for kids. There are also local shops and takeaways within a few minutes walk

  • Great location, great home, great hosts. The hosts were both really friendly and helpful; when I told them what my plans were for the evening, they offered me plenty of good advice and tips. The home was also lovely and the room was brilliant. I really enjoyed my stay, and I would thoroughly recommend the hosts to anyone looking to visit Shrewsbury.

We have 1 room available in our large and welcoming family home. The room is advertised as a single but can accommodate 2 people although the bed is adjacent to the window, but is very comfortable! We're a 10-15 minute walk from the train station and the town centre, with parking available. We will be as flexible as we can regarding check-in times but please note that we are a working family so sometimes are not home until late afternoon/early evening.

  • Their home was wonderful, nice, clean and warm. They were very kind when our travel plans changed and we needed to change our accommodation date. We arrived to their place after 10:00pm and they waited for us, it was very nice of them. I liked their cat and cat seemed to like me too. It was very easy to find their place. It was good to eat cereal for breakfast in their place. I also liked good working wifi. I would stay there again.

My place is close to the town centre, railway station and bus station. You’ll love my place because of the large comfy bed, you have your own space and it's great value. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
This is a 2 berth touring caravan which is parked in the front garden of our house. It has a large and comfortable double bed, wardrobe and cupboard space and cooking facilities in the form of a microwave and hob. There is heating and electric lighting, a kettle and toaster. There is a chemical toilet, for night time emergencies, and guests are welcome to use the bathroom, shower and toilet in the house. There is wireless fibre broadband available to guests at no extra charge. There is off road parking in the driveway. The house stands near a main road, so guests must be aware that there is some traffic noise, especially in the morning. This is not the Ritz, so is relatively basic accommodation, however this is reflected in the price.
The house is about 20 minutes walk from the town centre, 15 minutes walk from the station, and on a regular bus route to both. There is the Dolphin Inn, a great local pub, about 5 minutes walk away, where they serve real ales and a good range of food and have occasional music nights. There is a corner shop (One Stop) about 5 minutes away, a Tesco Express about 8 minutes away and a large supermarket (Morrisons) about 15 - 20 minutes on foot. We are also within a 5 minute walk of three Chinese takeaways, an Indian takeaway, a chip shop & a Pizza Hut takeaway. We are also very close to Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, the first iron framed building in the world. This has a Visitors Centre, which is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm from March to October. It's well worth a visit!
  • The caravan is a delight and host Richard helpful and kind. This was a real port in a storm for me (pouring rain too)!

    Sue2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, the caravan is lovely and cosy! Richard and his family are so kind and accommodating

    Manya2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy little caravan not far from the town centre, perfect for a couple!

    Kate2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy caravan with all amenities, very clean and handy for getting into Shrewsbury. I liked having a private kitchen and loo, although Richard gave me use of the kitchen and bathroom in the house. I would stay again.

    Paula2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Never been in a caravan and I was afraid to be unconfortable.... Actually No way! and for every particular needing our hosts, Richard and Deha were so kind to help us and open their house. Thanks! And if we will need it we will come back for sure!

    Geny 2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for money! Comfy big bed.

    Kayleigh2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The caravan is comfortable with everything you need. As stated you use the bathroom inside the house but this was no issue at all. Like Richard says, it is placed next to the road and the morning noise may be a concern for late sleepers. The caravan is surrounded by trees and only a few meters from the house and there is full electric. I really enjoyed my stay and never felt like I was intruding. Probably the most personable Air BnB place I've stayed at. (To walk into town use the old canal path to get off the main road.)

    Raelene2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was just perfect for an over night stay In walking distance from the town and Richard and his family were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time .

  • Paul was an excellent host from the moment I arrived, after a long drive, to the time I left. What a magnificent position; peaceful, tranquil, superb view and Paul has a lovely home. A comfortable night's sleep, decent shower and a good breakfast set me up perfectly for my onward journey. Will definitely try to come back....thanks again Paul!

    Justin2015-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was most welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We had all we needed and much enjoyed our visit to Shrewsbury which Paul made all the better. We'll be back. Many thanks.

    Julian 2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was absolutely wonderful. He's very thoughtful and a seasoned host. He had tea ready for us along with the wifi password. We were cycling and he was kind enough to drive us to the shop to buy food for dinner. He's very interesting and got great diving videos to share. We were sad to leave.

    Kiska2016-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely the place to stay near Shrewsbury. Paul was such a gracious host, welcoming us into his beautiful home on the Severn River and offering us excellent tips on how to view Shrewsbury. Although we were only there for one night we strongly recommend Paul's place for a longer stay. A+++

    Marty2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Paul was absolutely great! He was very welcoming and generous, and made sure that we were happy with our room and facilities, which we certainly were. His house is lovely and nicely located for walking into and around the Iovely town of Shrewsbury. Talking with Paul was not only interesting when he described such things as his growing up in Shrewsbury and the sights to be seen there, it was a lot of fun as well because he has a waggish sense of humour which led to a lot of laughter and excellent conversation. He insisted on driving us all around the interesting parts of Shrewsbury, with a fascinating running commentary. Once home, he showed us several of his videos of diving in the best reefs in the world, which were amazing. Paul is a very fine fellow overall, and both my husband and I give his Air bnb our highest recommendation to those travellers who want to enjoy their stay in Shrewsbury to the fullest.

    Ruth Ann2015-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyable stay. Interesting, quiet location, nice sunny ensuite room, great views, easy parking. Charming host. Would definitely go again.

    Andrew2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay at Paul's with some beautiful views and local location. Such a lovely clean room with friendly warm welcome. Felt totally at home and would certainly recommend to anyone. If we need to stay in the area again Paul's place will be our first port of call. Thank you Paul for having us, make our working weekend much more enjoyable.

    Gill2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's house was easy to find - easy parking and a pleasant walk to the Abby and round town. Very comfortable and Paul has a wealth of knowledge and suggestions on what to do in South West UK

  • Wonderful stay at Church Flat. Spotless flat with a very comfortable bed and lovely shower in a quiet location. Very convenient for walking into town. Shops, pubs and restaurants a short walk away. We had a very warm welcome, fresh bread, jams and milk were supplied - even chocolates too. I couldn't fault the experience and we plan to return in the summer. This was our first Air B&B experience and excelled our expectations. Thanks Suzanne.

    Ruth2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We have just enjoyed a lovely stay at Suzanne's luxurious apartment. A loaf of bread, jams, orange juice and milk were awaiting our arrival. The apartment has been tastefully decorated and the large windows make it bright and cheery. The location is excellent for walking into Shrewsbury via the Welsh Bridge.

    Vicki2017-09-10T00:00:00Z

We were delayed arriving and Helen was very accommodating. Olivet is a beautiful house, we would have loved to stay longer. The house is very comfortable and full of character. We would love to return again.

    Claire2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a fabulous few days at Olivet with my Mom. The house was perfect for us: ideally situated with gorgeous views and beds and bedding to die for.....a fantastic nights' sleep was had by all! Helen was a great host, even supplying us with some welcome pastries....sure fire way to my heart! As there wasn't anyone arriving the day we left, she also very kindly allowed us to stay on beyond the normal check out time in order that we could enjoy some sunshine in her lovely back garden before having to head to our early afternoon train. All in all I'd highly recommend Helen and her house and would happily return again in the future if I'm ever in the area and in need of somewhere to stay. Thanks Helen (from Polly too!) x

    Sarah2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and really spacious property with the most comfortable beds. The House is within a short walk of the centre of the Village which contains a great pub and local shop.

    rod2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was superb and went above and beyond in helping us with arrangements before we arrived. The home was lovely and spacious and made for a wonderful family get together.

    Sascha2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Olivet is a lovely property and deceptively spacious inside, the children (and adults) had plenty of room to play in the front room and the views from the front are lovely! The bedrooms are big and the beds incredibly comfortable. Each kitted out with some of the largest fluffy towels I've seen. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need and the oven is awesome! The checking in process was relaxed and much needed with some of us getting stuck in traffic when travelling from a far. The Red Lion is a great local pub with friendly staff, real good food and beer, and catered well for the little ones. Enjoyed a walk at Nescliffe Hill Country Park Walk on New Years Eve, certainly worth a visit.

    Megan2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time in Shrewsbury at Helen's wonderful home. My family visited Shrewsbury to attend a cousins wedding, and it was lovely to come back to a lovely spacious place at the end of the night. I wish we could have stayed longer to take in more of what Shrewsbury has to offer. We would definitely recommend and come back! Thanks Helen - you were a great host!

    Daniella2016-07-04T00:00:00Z

If you're looking for immaculate facilities, trouser presses, co-ordinated bathroom suites and the tedious synthetic of a Travel Lodge type bedroom then Hawthorn Villa is probably not for you. However if you don't mind the clucking of hens, cows mooing, gurgling in the plumbing and, shock horror, the possibility of dust, if you search hard enough, and maybe the buzzing of the bees loitering in the bushes then a quiet nights sleep and a restful stay are yours for the asking.
If you'd like to sit outdoors or have a bbq then provided the weather is obliging you are free to enjoy the garden space. Weary cyclists can be sure of a warm welcome and a secure place for their bike.
The house is on a country lane and near to the little market town of Wem where there is a supermarket and plenty of smaller shops such as greengrocers, butchers, grocers etc to buy provisions. There are several tea rooms and cafes, plus take-aways and a fish and chip shop. The Castle hotel on the main street has an evening menu and there is also a restaurant called The Drayton Gate and an Indian restaurant.
  • Great location lovely room and Gabrielle and Tim are great hosts. I was also very appreciative of the secure bike store and your own bathroom. Would definitely recommend Hawthorn Villa.

    Sally2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gabrielle and Tim couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming during our stay. We had a late check-in as we were traveling in the evening and that was no problem. They provided an excellent breakfast as well which was a real treat and were helpful in every way. We would definitely stay again if we're ever in the area.

  • Well this was one of the most lovely airbnb locations we've stayed in. A fabulous host and couldn't have asked for a better experience. House/Room was comfortable, Gabrielle was such a lovely person to meet and a perfect place to stay. The breakfast in the morning was delightful, fresh eggs from the chickens outside, strawberries picked from the garden. Perfect. We couldn't recommend it high enough.

    Alexander2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here recently for one night whilst going to a party in the area and everything was perfect. Great welcome by Tim, my room had tea/coffee making facilities, I had my own bathroom too. For breakfast I had a poached egg on toast which was delicious. Felt very comfortable being in their home and would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Lovely cottage about a mile or so outside Wem.

  • A modern townhouse on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. I cycled and used the nearby alleys to get onto the river track - an amazing way of seeing the town. I'd forgotten how beautiful it is. Mike is a great host and the brekkie and beer fridge are perfect!

  • Fantastic few days spent in this lovely little house. Rhian welcomed us on arrival, and had left little details to make our stay more pleasurable. We needed to briefly contact Rhian later on the first day and she was really quick to respond to us and so helpful. We enjoyed the tasteful christmas decorations dotted around the house and the facilities the house offers. It's a great location for a short walk into Shrewsbury. We'd definitely consider staying at No 53 again, thank you for a really pleasurable stay.

  • Cute house close to the Severn river in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. As apartment dwellers usually, we appreciated the house's garden. Friendly host, recommended.

Surrounded by the River Severn and set in more than 800 acres, the Isle offers peace and tranquillity, lovely walks, rides and some of the best carp fishing in the country. 10 minutes from Shrewsbury town centre.
You room is individually decorated and the bed has a good quality mattress with cotton sheets and a duvet. It is equipped with a TV, WiFi (free of charge) and lastly comes with coffee and tea making facilities as well as some biscuits to nibble on.
This historic part of England is set in lovely unspoiled countryside bordering Wales. The medieval market town of Shrewsbury is a pleasure to visit with plenty of independent shops, quirky restaurants and period buildings. All this is within an easy car ride to the many attractions (both man made and natural) surrounding us.
  • Fantastic place to stay with very welcoming and interesting hosts. Amazing views and good for wildlife. We enjoyed watching the guinea fowl and grazing horses. As well as gazing over the flood meadows, lake, mature trees and meandering river. A very relaxed atmosphere and we appreciated the lift into town in the evening.

  • Ros & Edward made us feel like old friends at their beautiful relaxed home. For those who like the countryside can't recommend The Isle enough.

    Penny2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and comfortable with wonderful hosts this B&B is well worth a visit! The extensive grounds and cosy log fire make it the perfect place for a getaway and we loved how accommodating they were towards dogs too. Edward is a truly fantastic host and made sure our every need was met. We hope to be back!

  • We had a lovely stay at The Isle on a Sunday night in April 2017. It's such a beautiful home full of great historic character. Breakfast was delicious and Edward was an excellent host and interesting to get to know. I'd highly recommend staying here, particularly if you have a bit more time than we had to explore the area as there are beautiful walks to be had in the surrounding countryside.

    Lara2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • A great spot to get away from it all. After a very hectic week we arrived to a very kind welcome, and sat on the lawn relaxing and watching the sun set. The room was beautiful, a comfortable bed and lovely breakfasts. Highly recommend.

    Kerry2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect and we particularly enjoyed Edward's guided walk with the dogs on our arrival, the abundance of fur coated friends and the stunning setting. Well located, 5 minute drive into Shrewsbury town but with the comfort and tranquility of the countryside. The Armoury was a great recommendation for food and wine by Edward, who can also cook up a delicious breakfast with homegrown goods. Would certainly recommend to family and friends.

    julie2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Edward welcomed us and was very informative on where to eat out. We were given the pink room which overlooked the garden and lake. Lovely big room and bathroom. We took a walk to the lake before breakfast watching the swans, ducks & heron. Very relaxing nights stay

    Lisa2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • From reading the reviews I had a fairly good idea of what to expect, but it was still pleasant when the place lived up to the expectations. From the moment that I booked, communication was excellent - including recommendations on places to eat. We arrived in the evening and were made to feel very welcome being shown to our room and made tea in the sitting room. Edward kindly drove us to the local pub were we had dinner and in the morning Ros prepared a wonderful Breakfast. The House is set on a huge estate which is very quiet and relaxing, but surprisingly close to the town. There is plenty of parking, a swimming pool, and fantastic private grounds to explore.

Location is only 15 minutes walk to Shrewsbury. The Apartment is a self-contained with double bedroom, lounge, sofa bed (suits 2 children or 1 adult), kitchen, en-suite, private patio and car parking. Access to river for fishing and canoeing.
access to the garden and decking overlooking the river
  • The apartment is located about 15-20 minutes walk from town. As other reviewers have mentioned, it has lovely riverside views. It's underneath the host's house & steps down to the apartment are quite steep. It overlooks the owners' garden so isn't entirely private. We were told we could use the garden if we wished but didn't feel particularly comfortable about doing so. Hosts left plenty of local info in the flat but didn't particularly interact with us. Communications were good.

    Sheila2016-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Alison and her family are wonderful, kind and generous hosts. The house is surrounded by beautiful scenery. The location is great - quiet but close to amenities. Great hosts, great property - would highly recommend.

  • Thanks, it is a great place you have with everything we needed and a very comfortable bed. Good communication. Thanks again!

  • Arranged a 2 night get away at Alison's Peaceful riverside location in Shrewsbury, and what a location it was! The apartment did not disappoint and the location was gorgeous, even in November. Alison and her husband were the perfect hosts, as they gave us space but was a phone call away if we ever needed anything. The apartment was cosy, clean and well equipt, a real home away from home. Thanks so much Alison, we very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Sabrina & Tim

  • It was very thoughtful to provide us with milk bread & butter. Just makes it easier when you arrive at a new BnB.

    Karen2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed the residential area setting so close to the river and with a lovely stepped garden. The hosts were very helpful before during and after and sorted a couple of small issues very promptly. The listing was accurate though there were no photos to show the living room and bedroom. The bedroom is particularly attractive and very comfortable with plenty of room and it would be good to see this in the listing.

    Merce2016-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable. Lovely location with river at the back.

    Julia2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A bit of confusion about where exactly the apt. was located as we had no house number. Having the house number listed is essential. Just the postal code was not enough for our GPS to find the location. Very lovely location and really enjoyed having the whole place to ourselves. Easy walk into Shrewsbury via a foot bridge across the Severn River. Quiet location. Enjoyed sitting outside. With the rain we had it would be nice if the patio area with the deck above was waterproof. Brighter light in the kitchen would be better for our older eyes! All and all a great place for our 3 nights in Shrewsbury.

Our gorgeous barn has its own separate driveway. Upstairs are 2 spacious bedrooms & a lovely bathroom. Downstairs has a small sitting room (TV/DVD) and a bright, well-equipped kitchen opening out onto a wonderful little private garden with far-reaching views. Fabulous location to explore Snowdonia, the historic town of Shrewsbury, (Darwin's home and where Medieval buildings abound), Ellesmere and the Meres & Mosses. The area has stunning walking, terrific pubs & canoeing on the Severn.
We converted this section of our barn in 2012 and since then it has been lovingly used. It is light and airy and has such a lovely feel about it. The views in all directions are of unspoiled countryside. The kitchen is a little vertically challenged so be careful of the centre beam if you are very tall but upstairs was built for giants.
There are great local pubs in all directions - The Dickin Arms in Loppington (1 mile) has just been totally renovated and is one of the best country gastro-pubs in the area. The New Inn at Baschurch, The Inn at Grinshill and The Boathouse at Ellesmere are all a short drive or taxi-ride away. Shrewsbury is a little known and totally adorable town filled with medieval history, architecture and home to Darwin. In the evenings there are wine bars and restaurants overlooking the river, Theatre Severn and music clubs. There are fabulous walks including Grinshill, the Cliffe, along the Long Mynd, around Colemere and onwards to Llangollen and Snowdonia. You can hire canoes on the River Severn and spend the most memorable time paddling down the river, passing swans and kingfishers along the way. You can rent bikes in Llangollen or take a narrow boat on the Shropshire Union Canal The area packed with things to do.
  • If you're after peace and quiet in the middle of beautiful Shropshire, and with a dog, this cottage is perfect. Everything you need for a brief stay, summer or winter. Just be careful of the low beam in the kitchen!

    Oliver2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning little cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. Sasha was a great host.

    Shona2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Incredibly well renovated barn with beautiful bedrooms and bathroom. The decor was nicely done and really interesting - the antique books particularly. Beautiful location and very handy for many of Shropshire's fantastic locations. Very pleased it was dog friendly - our spaniel had a great time. Highly recommended

    Mark2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sasha's place is immaculate, really nice, and super quiet. The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom are all of a generous size and tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was there. We did have one issue while we were there, but Sasha bent over backwards to sort it, despite not even being there (she was on her own holiday). Neither of us had mobile signal (3 and EE), but the wifi worked fine, so we were good. There are PLENTY of power sockets all over! :-) Checkin was easy - just get the key out of a lockbox with a code you're given automatically on the arrival day by airbnb. I wish we'd had more time to just laze about and relax on this trip - be an ideal place to do it - next time!

    Sara2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the Malt Barn. It was so peaceful. The house is wonderfully clean and beautifully decorated inside. Lovely for a weekend away from busy jobs and the city! Would definitely stay again!

    Sophie2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely warm welcome from Sasha and despite the weather my Mum and Dad loved the barn and so appreciated all the little touches. They were also taken with Shrewsbury, so I'm sure we'll be back

    Nicola2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean Barn conversion, with beautiful scenic countryside views. Very quiet. Barn a good size, lots of lovely touches. Thanks for the welcoming wine and flowers, starter pack (tea ,coffee, milk etc) Will recommend. Thanks Deb & Lorraine

  • Really attractive little cottage, all well presented and clean with interesting artefacts in the house. Nice surroundings and views. Unfortunately the owner was not around when we did encounter a problem - no hot water. And attention to detail a little lacking with the "essentials". But if they improve on that it's a lovely place!

Brilliant location - a stone's throw from bars and restaurants of Broughton Street, tram stop, Waverley station, Portrait Gallery, Princes Street, George St, Festival and Fringe venues eg The Stand, Botanic Gardens yet on a quiet cycle route. Built post war - the Napoleonic. This gorgeous one-bedroom flat is on the second floor, overlooking gardens and tennis courts, bathed in sunshine, still with original stone flagstones, wooden shutters, cornices, but with modern touches: wifi and TV.
Fabulous location: great bars and restaurants on Broughton St The Stand - great comedy all five minutes away on York Place St Andrew Square - for Christmas markets, comedy, food and George St bars Yet on a very quiet cycle route so good nights sleep guaranteed especially working shutters and thick curtains. Scotland Street made famous by local author Alexander McCall Smith's series of Scotland St books It is a proper home as I live, cook and enjoy living in the flat so usually rent a room in the flat when I am at home and then rent out the whole flat when I go away.
  • Nell's apartment is amazing. It is such a nice flat in a great location and everything is in a central location. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely be staying again!

    Katie2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was beautiful and extremely sunny. We are very grateful to Nell and Louise. It was our first trip to Edinburgh and we fell in love. The huge windows in the living room were my particular favourite thing about the apartment. The only issue we have is that it was difficult to get the temperature right in the shower and bath - the water was either ice cold or boiling hot and the host asks for you not to use the dryer (in the guidebook left at the property) and I feel like this should be listed on the site. We had a brilliant stay and I would highly recommend!

  • A beautiful home in a great location.

  • I stayed at Nells for 3 nights as a business trip. The flat is brilliant. It's a massive space, light and comfortable and only 5 minutes walk to the tram and 10mins to Princess Street. I'd happily stay again if the property is available next time I am in town.

    John2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Flat is in a great location, both far enough and close enough from/to the centre at the same time. The area the flat is in too is great, some hip little bars and drinking joints and would recommend a stay here.

    Clement2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great flat! Great location! Great location! I had an extremely comfortable and lovely stay in Nell's flat. It was extremely well equipped - a real home from home. She was extremely flexible about check-in and check-out. Just what I needed when I wanted to maximise my return to visit all my friends in Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Nell's flat in Scotland Street. The flat is beautiful, well furnished and very comfortable. Its location is great for wandering around town for a weekend. All the arrival and departure information was very clear, the only pity was that we didn't get to meet Nell herself on this occassion!

A south-facing double bedroom including shower and balcony with fantastic views over the river Severn, fields and town beyond, yet only ten minutes walk to the centre of Shrewsbury and on the edge of the beautiful countryside. Free on-road parking.
This 60s infill architectural delight has a garden which tumbles down in terraces to the river Severn. It is possible to fish from the bank, or just enjoy watching the river go by. Your bedroom has its own ensuite shower cubical and attached bathroom and toilet. Wifi and TV in the house. You are welcome to make your own tea/coffee or meals using the kitchen. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom.
I am very fortunate to live on the banks of the beautiful river Severn (but well elevated above it to never have to worry about flooding!), beyond are fields designated as an area of scientific interest. From the south-facing terraces I can see Shrewsbury, including notable buildings such as Charles Darwin's house where he was born, Shrewsbury Public School, St Chad's Church. The Show Ground where events such as The Shrewsbury Folk Festival, County Agricultural Show, and other horse and dog shows take place is not more than two minutes walk away. I am on the edge of town, so access to the beautiful Shropshire countryside is very easy, yet only ten minutes walk to the centre of town. There is free street parking outside.
  • We arrived at Anne's at about 7 pm and she was there to greet us. We were worried that we were later than she was expecting but this was no problem at all. Something had gone wrong with the booking at Air BnB's end but Anne handled this well and calmly. Anne is a lovely lady and easy to stay with as she made us feel welcome. Even when we came back during the day for a rest after a long walk it was not problem and we really felt it was our home too for the three days we were there. The bed was excellent and there was a door out of the bedroom onto our own private balcony, a desk and wifi which we used a lot, the shower was excellent too and our own bathroom. Everything was clean and tidy. We had long conversations on a wide range of topics and felt very welcome and at home. Breakfast was not too early in the morning and was lovely and different each morning. We had cold option only though a cooked breakfast was offered. The BnB was within 200m of the event we were attending so this could not have been more convenient for us. Our first experience of Air BNB was very positive and we thank Anne very much for a delightful stay.

  • Anne was the perfect host. Her house is very interesting and is in a fantastic position. Being able to wake up and take in the early morning view from the balcony was marvellous. Very good location for exploring Shrewsbury on foot. I really enjoyed my stay and Anne is such an interesting person - we chatted for hours.

  • What can I say about Anne ! Well what is not to say ! she is a true delight in every way . It has been my first time using air b n b and I came to here for a couple of nights following a stressful time I am having . She was very kind to me and very hospitable plus her place is amazing and is and intriguing and quirky as she is which I am pleased to say :-) I strongly recommend her to anyone and can't wait to stop again thank you so much Anne all the best , HAYLEY X

  • Charming house and host We had a great time staying with Anne in her lovely riverside home. We were made very welcome, felt almost like family by the time we left. The room was lovely especially as we could catch the sun from the balcony outside our room, though it was a bit too sharp in the mornings to have our breakfast out in the terrace. Anne makes wonderful breakfasts, she'll really set you up for the day. One day we had fabulous fruit salad including grapes from her own vine and another she made us pancakes, so delicious. The house is a leisurely stroll from Shrewsbury historic town centre and cultural quarter. It's a good 15 minutes walk from the rail station but really worthwhile fir the experience if the house and it's host.

    Cherie2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with our delightful host Anne far exceeded any expectation we had, it was truly fantastic. Anne was warm, welcoming and extremely entertaining. You could not get a better location, 10 mins walk from the train or bus staion alongside the river. The house was warm and intimate with a really cosy feel and spectacular views of the river, surrounding countryside with the town of Shrewsbury just visible through the trees. Our bedroom had a glass patio door leading onto a veranda fringed with a wisteria vine and a comfy settee. Anne provided lovely breakfasts every morning and allowed us to use her kitchen to cook evening meals so all in all you couldn't get a more economical stay anywhere. Cant recommend this highly enough, we will definitely be returning to visit Anne and of course Pumpkin pie her daughters lovely cocker spaniel.

    Judith2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend Anne and her place enough, from start to finish it was amazing! Easy to find with on street parking, the views from Anne's house of the river are amazing as is the room complete with private balcony. Anne went out of her way to make me feel welcome including preparing an amazing breakfast on both mornings of my staff, if I'm ever in Shrewsbury again I know where I will be staying!

Hawthorn Villa and the Stableroom are just outside the small market town of Wem, Shropshire. The area is very picturesque and rural. The Stableroom offers you a private en suite bedroom separate from the main house and with the opportunity to sleep a 3rd person if required. A further double room is available in the house for bigger groups.
Our house is on a country lane near the little market town of Wem where there is a supermarket and plenty of smaller shops such as greengrocers, butchers, grocers to buy provisions. There are also several cafes and tea rooms plus take-aways and a fish and chip shop. The Castle Hotel on the main street has an evening menu (excluding Sundays) and there is a restaurant called the Drayton Gate and an Indian.

  • Travelling was me, two daughters aged 18 and 9 and our Labradoodle, Baxter. On arrival we were greeted by Gabrielle and her husband Tim. They were a lovely couple, very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Their knowledge of the local area and local stories fascinated us. We were given some leaflets of places to go in the area which was very helpful, as the booking was a last minute decision and we hadn't been to Shropshire before. The stable room was amazing and quite big. The room had a single bed, and a day bed which had a slide out bed underneath. There was plenty of room for the four of us. The bathroom was bigger than we expected too. Towels and bedding were supplied which made life easier for us, and there was tea, coffee and sugar in the room along with a kettle. We stayed for three nights in the stable room going exploring during the day and returning in the evening. Gabrielle and Tim were interested each evening to hear of the places we had been and what we had planned for the next day. Gabrielle even asked Esmé if she would like to help her feed the chickens. We really enjoyed our stay in the stable room and will definitely book again to stop as there is still plenty more exploring to be done. We couldn't have wished for more friendlier, helpful and accommodating hosts. Thank you so much!!

  • Last minute trip to Shrewsbury and Louise was so helpful and relaxed about a late booking. We arrived much earlier on the Saturday then check in and again Louise was really happy to accommodate us. The barn is beautiful, we stayed in the gallery room with a spacious bathroom right next door, it was all very cosy and clean. We had breakfast made for us on Sunday morning which was a lovely unexpected addition. The breakfast room overlooked the garden and surrounding land, perfect view! Louise was so friendly, so relaxed and our stay couldn't have been more pleasant.

Dovecote Barn offers B&B in the hamlet of Fitz, 6 miles NW of Shrewsbury. The barn was converted into a home in 2011 and has a lovely outlook towards the Welsh hills and overlooks the church in Fitz. Fitz is very quiet, peaceful hamlet, close to the River Severn but at the same time only 10 minutes drive from the historic, market town of Shrewsbury.
Gallery Bedroom: Victorian brass bed with a large separate bathroom with shower and huge bath right next door. A second double bedroom with ensuite shower room is also available - please see separate listing under Dovecote Barn - Garden Room on Airbnb. Organic/local produce breakfast is served in the Ginny Ring -a large hexagonal sitting room where originally a horse walked around a stone mill grinding corn. The original spindle post is still in the centre.
  • Louise and Richard are very friendly and they have a beautiful barn converted house. Very inspired! Accommodation is very comfortable! We will visit them again when we are in shropshire.

  • Louise was a super host - quickly responding to messages ( we were a very late booking)', to providing cleare instructions on how to find her beautiful home to the most delicious breakfast in the morning. Dovecote Barn is beautiful, with truly comfortable bed, power showers and gorgeous views over the countryside. A cooked breakfast was an unexpected and delicious treat. We wer made to feel very welcome and would thoroughly recommend a stay at Dovecote.

  • What a wonderful place to stay. Welcoming, stylish, cosy and comfortable. So close to the M5. A tranquil, special place. Louise is the perfect hostess. The breakfast was scrumptious as well.

  • Beautiful home in the Shropshire county, convenient for Shrewsbury or any of the many villages in the area. We were in the room upstairs which had a very comfortable bed and everything we needed - including a kettle! The bathroom was in the hallway, so be aware if you would prefer an en suite, but that didn't bother us at all. It was a lovely bathroom with a bath and separate rain-drop shower. Louise and her husband were both incredibly welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble - we felt like members of the family! Breakfast was perfect. They are blessed to have such a beautiful home.

    Matthew2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Louise and Richard's home is beautiful as was the room. They are extremely friendly and made us feel most welcome. Would definitely recommend.

    Annemarie2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely house and lovely welcome. Room was large, comfortable and beautiful, as was the whole house. Good location for Shrewsbury and exploring the area. Louise was an ideal host, very open and flexible and very, very easy to talk to. Charles, her father in law, was also a nice added bonus.

    Alan2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying in Dovecote barn and meeting Louise and Richard. Thank you for hosting us in your beautiful home and feeding us such a delicious breakfast in the morning. The surrounding countryside is stunning. The only reason I couldn't give five stars was that sound travels very easily through their converted barn building, meaning that I found it impossible to sleep in our room when there was anyone else awake in the house. Only a particular problem for us as I was trying to take a cheeky nap before getting ready for a wedding, and then have a little lie-in the morning after. Occupational hazard...

  • Louise made us feel very welcome. Lovely room and beautiful house in gorgeous country surroundings. Definitely would recommend it

Lovely 3 bedroom house on a quiet residential street, yet only a 10 minute walk to the hustle bustle of historic Shrewsbury. In a popular residential area for families and couple with local amenities. This is strictly a non-smoking house ( both inside and the garden) as a family home
A semi detached house in a no-through road which makes it a very quiet home, and within walking a 10 min walk to all that Shrewsbury has to offer. The house is a lovely contemporary space, retaining period features. A fantastic space for friends and families alike - just read out reviews. As you enter the house, off the hallway on the right is a cosy lounge. Then into a separate dining room with working fireplace. For us this room is the centre of the house. The dining rooms leads onto the kitchen which has has a double smeg oven. Through to the downstairs bathroom with shower over bath. We have a combi boiler so always hot water. Upstairs ( please note the stairs are steep) there are 3 bedrooms. To the right there is a good sized room which can be set up as a Queen Bed (actual measurement 180cm x 190cm) or as 2 single beds. There is an small single room which adjoins this room and is ideally suited to a child although we have had adults sleep in here very comfortably. This room is set up with a comfortable John Lewis day bed with topper for extra comfort. To the left of the stairs there is another good sized room, which again can be set up as a Queen Bed or 2 single beds. The queen beds are set up with toppers so you'd never guess these are 2 singles, and by doing so provide very generous sized beds In this room you have a small room to hang clothes. Both bedrooms have black out curtains, and being a quiet road also means a good nights sleep. The house has wifi, and hive heating system which can be controlled remotely should you arrive late. We can offer late access if needed. There is a lovely back garden. This is strictly a non-smoking house ( both inside and the garden) as a family house
Shrewsbury is just lovely. The historic town centre, musuems, theatre, independant cinema, University, great shopping facilities, lovely eateries for all budgets. Then you are surrounded by great countryside for walkers and cyclists and not far to other fantastic places to visit including Wales
  • Thankyou very much, lovely house, clean and comfortable, have already recommended to friends

  • Serbia was a brilliant host, could not fault her in any way. The house is really well decorated and was perfect for our group size. Great location with only a short walk into town. 10/10

    Euan2016-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is an extremely well kept terraced property with 2 bedrooms. It is well insulated with double glazing and kept us warm during the winter. The hosts were very helpful and sorted out problems quickly and efficiently. The property is within a short walking distance of the centre of Shrewsbury alongside the river Severn. We would recommend this property.

  • Sebia made us feel very welcome on arrival, putting a few essentials in the fridge, supplying a stair gate for our children and also digging out a big box of toys. The house was lovely and clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. We were very comfortable and the house was in a very convenient location to walk or drive into town and explore all that Shrewsbury has to offer. Thank you!

    Anna2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very convenient location for visiting Shrewsbury on foot. We didn't meet Sebia but were met by her mother at check in. The house is clean and well equipped and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. One point to note is that the bathroom and toilet are downstairs which we hadn't taken notice of when we booked. It's fine for a couple of days but not ideal for those who have to get up in the night to use the loo!

    Karen2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sebia was a great host - everything was exactly as described and the welcome goodies were a lovely touch! Collecting the keys was very simple and fuss free and we appreciated the local recommendations given. The description was accurate - a lovely house with garden and perfect for our needs. I would recommend Lily Cottage - thank you!

    Sarah2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is perfect !

    Joan2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sebia communicates well and the house is a clean, nice little spot. We used it for staff on a festival weekend and they loved it as well as the location.

My cottage is in the pretty village of Baschurch, Shropshire. It is centrally located just seven miles north-west from the medieval county town Shrewsbury and eleven miles south-east from Oswestry on the Welsh border. You’ll love my place because of its cosiness and location - ideal for walkers and cyclists. Shepherds Cottage dates back to 1900, where it was originally one of the shepherds cottages for Prescott Farm. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).
The front door opens into the living room with an open fire and big comfy corner sofa. You then walk through to the kitchen/diner with seating for six people. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee machine and all the modern appliances you will need. Off the kitchen is the sun room, with bi-fold doors out to the garden. The garden is a nice place to relax, complete with patio table and chairs and a BBQ. Upstairs you will find a large master bedroom complete with King-size bed and plenty of space for a cot or additional airbed if needed. In additional there is another double bedroom and a bunk bed room, meaning the cottage sleeps six. The bathroom is downstairs and has been updated with a modern whirlpool bath and a remote control shower. Included with accommodations: - All central heating and electric - In winter months, a complimentary basket of logs, kindling and fire lighters (additional supplies are available at a fee) - Luxury Egyptian cotton linen and Christy towels Your luxury self-catering holiday cottage has: - Private garden - Parking available for one vehicle immediately in front of the property, but due to the space available and minimising disruption to the neighbours, large vans or commercial vehicles cannot be accommodated. If these need to be parked, they need to be parked out on the road. - Smart 3D TV with Freeview and services like Amazon Video, Netflix and BBC iPlayer (you will need your own subscription for some of these) - 3D Blu-ray and DVD player with a library of films - Free wireless Internet access - Washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and microwave oven - OS map of the area

  • This property was adorable! Decorated so well. It was cozy clean warm and inviting. There was even some milk in the refrigerator waiting for us to put our arrival. There was easy access to a local market. We walk there in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend this property. They were even toys for our son to play with.

    Wendy2017-08-20T00:00:00Z

  • This lovely cottage in Baschurch was the perfect setting off point for our week exploring Shropshire. The cottage comfortably fit our family of 6. The cottage is nearby to many heritage attractions and good hikes. Karrie was an excellent host, happily answering all of our questions. We would gladly recommend this home.

  • Absolutely lovely cottage we loved our stay close to a couple of pubs and a shop with good opening hours.. beautiful village and close to Shrewsbury for a drive down... the cottage was lovely and warm brilliant for couples or families even a few friends like we was.. we had a brilliant time thanks again will be booking again

    Charlene2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This property really cannot be described as luxurious. It is nice and cosy and comfortable and has all the equipment needed for your stay. Slippers are provided for your use however the carpets are clearly old and stained in places upstairs Unfortunately we found some elements of the property unclean which was disappointing as we had paid a £75 cleaning fee! I had to clean the crockery, saucepans and the BBQ grill (which clearly hadn't been cleaned for a while and was growing mould) before we could use them There were also beer cans littering the garden and opened out of date food in the cupboards. If you have a large car it is difficult to park outside the property due to neighbours vehicles parking right up to the boundary of the cottage. There is alternative parking across from the property though.

Our house is located within walking distance from the centre of the medieval town of Shrewsbury, with its vintage shops and individual boutiques, and close to the bus and train stations. The double bedroom is comfortable and full of character.
The house has been sympathetically restored using traditional materials. There's an eclectic mix of boho and vintage, exposed timbers and lime washed panels which contribute to create a charming and welcoming atmosphere.
I live in a nice, lively part of town overlooking the river Severn just outside the boundaries of the old town centre and very close to Shrewsbury castle.
  • Donatella was a kind and helpfull person during my time on the house. Despide I arrived late on the night she received me and help me with everything that I needed. She is a friendly person and the house is very original and comfortable.

    Laura2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful night at Donatella's home. The room was beautiful and in a really co venue my location. Donatella was an excellent host and we'd gladly stay with her again. The central heating had broke but she provided extra bedding which wasn't needed as what was provided was already beautifully warm. There are quirks with staying in an older property but it's all part of the charm.

  • What a beautiful house, really unique and magical place to stay. Walking into town was very easy and the bed was extremely comfortable. Donatella made us feel very welcome and relaxed and was very helpful and approachable. We felt very at ease at all times and would make it our first choice for accommodation for our future Shrewsbury trips.

  • Great location, close to town but quiet. Decor was beautiful, a perfect property really. Instructions and communications were spot on, we had a lovely relaxing stay.

  • This house was a pleasure to stay in. We came by train and found it was really only 15 mins walk from the station , and was situated in a lovely residential neighbourhood, but close to the river and town centre, good eating places and only 10 mins walk from a Waitrose. The house was beautifully clean, bright and light, and very well provided, with radio, TV and wi-fi, and was warm and comfortable, with very pleasant outlook front and back. Kate was very available and helpful for any queries.

    Zoe2017-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's place is a wonderful cottage which is easy to find and ideally situated for the town centre of Shrewsbury. It was clean, well-stocked with tea, coffee and sugar and has all the kitchen amenities anyone would need. We were a group of four; two shared the king- size bed and the others took the twin bedded room. Very comfortable! The small backyard was a great place to chill on a warm summer's evening- very private and secluded indeed! We were fortunate to get a parking space opposite the cottage so I cannot comment on the other dedicated spot a few minutes away. All in all, a great little find and well worth the money.

  • The Coach House is a wonderful Air BnB if you're looking for somewhere special to stay in Shrewsbury. It is also very convenient in terms of it's location and so comfortable to stay in. Recently renovated to a very high standard - it really is a delightful place to stay. Lucy was a star and very helpful in making our stay that bit extra special.

  • From start to finish, Lucy and Steve were the perfect hosts and their gorgeous coach house was faultless. As soon as we had booked, Lucy couldn't have been more helpful and offering spot on suggestions about the local area. On arrival at the Coach House, the interior was even more beautiful than the photos suggest, and very spacious. The kitchen/open plan living room area is perfect for socialising and the bedrooms couldn't be comfier. The whole place was spotless and everything we could have needed had been thought of! The local town is a short walk away and there are some excellent local walks and even better local pubs. Lucy and Steve were even more friendly and welcoming in person and made us feel like we were staying in a home away from home. They made the whole weekend so incredibly relaxing and easy. Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful home for a fabulous long weekend!

  • What a beautiful home to be invited into, it certainly has the wow factor. A mix of very old and ultra modern design combining to make ultra chic accommodation. Our huge and beautifully designed bedroom with a very comfortable memory foam mattress and luxurious linen was ldeal. The ensuite is a fabulous wet room with rain shower and great fluffy towels. Our hosts Simon and Sally could not have been more welcoming and friendly, we really felt like friends rather than paying guests. Their local knowledge was excellent and they recommended some great places to eat and drink. We would highly recommend staying here.

  • We had a wonderful and restful stay with Simon and Sally who were really welcoming hosts. Their house was inviting and well appointed and would recommend this bnb to anyone wishing to have a luxurious stay in Shrewsbury. It's within easy reach of the town centre, and the breakfast room is something to experience. Thanks!
