Places to stay in Ione
My place is close to several wineries that offer wine-tasting excursions, family-friendly tours, historic sites, and scenic touring and cycling venues. You’ll love it for the comfy bed, the coziness, the scenic view of main street, and its modern yet inviting motif. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
  • Cute and cozy place. The only downside was the noise level on the street. Surprisingly a lot of traffic in this small town! Would bring earplugs next time.

  • Awesome location and bedroom provides a great view of Main St.

  • A cute little place in the heart of Ione. Very clean and close to everything.

  • Charming! Highly recommended!

  • Right on Main Street, we were able to find parking and a hot meal within steps of the front door. Very easy check-in for this private little space. We were just stopping in for one night so we didn't need much. Would come back again.

  • Perfect place to stay if you get the chance.

Secluded, mini cabin on a 10 acre retreat style property with a Pool and Pond. King Bed, Full Kitchen & Bath, Out Door Gas Fireplace & Soaking Tub. Come for the beauty of the ranch, the coziness of the Tiny House and a place to truly get away from it all: Drink coffee on the deck, Drink Wine, Read, Netflix and Chill, Write, Daydream, Swim, Fish, Hike We invite you to come and relax and leave the world behind... ps. dogs LOVE it here! ***Please read the entire listing before booking :)
Covid updates: We are placing a minimum of 24 hours between bookings to allow for thorough disinfections. Baby goats: We currently have 4 baby goats with 5 more mommas set to give birth over the next 3 weeks. Yes, you can pet them- we are setting up a schedule now to accommodate guests to do this and still keep our social distancing in place :) TINY HOUSE: Completely separate from the main house. (Approximately 100 yards away in the back end of property WITH THE HORSES!) It's the perfect place for a couple or single to relax and recharge :) Property: 10 acre Ranchette with a pond, pool, gazebo, walking trails and firepits. We are at the end of a dead end road and the back of our property borders 440 acres of county owned pasture land. All of the roads to get here are paved. We also have another guest house on the property that we rent via Airbnb. Dori and Meredith live in the main house on the property. Pool and Property: Guests will have full free roam of all of the property including the pool, gazebo etc. We have another airbnb on the property: Listing Link: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16857246 If you need an early or late checkout please book the night before or the night after. We are booked almost every night and unlike a hotel with multiple rooms to offer people we are limited to our 2 units and need time to get things ready for arrivals :) Animals: 2 -5 horses, barn cats and our house dogs. Horses: The Tiny House is located within the fenced area where the horses roam. You might wake up and they be right by the front window or you might not even see them. They are sort of unpredictable except at feeding time. If you would like to feed and/or pet just let us know Your Dogs/Cats/Horses: Friendly fur animals are SUPER welcome here!!! Most dogs go off leash and absolutely LOVE being free! They are also free to swim in the pond and pool. Make sure to let us know if you are bringing a pet as we have special welcome packages for them :) Our Dogs: Banks, Jett and Tennessee. Banks (german shorthaired pointer) is older and is inside 99% of the time. Jett (female pocket german shorthaired pointer) and Tennessee (goofy male black lab) like to play and lounge around outside. We have a fenced back yard off our main house and while guests are here they use this area. ***If your dogs are not comfortable with other dogs then we ask that you NOT bring them- we used to try to accommodate but it is too hard now. Your dogs: They are free to roam off leash. Our property is fenced but not secure if a dog really wants to escape. We find most dogs off leash just like to run in the grass. Your dogs can swim in the pond and the pool. If your dog is off leash you must keep an eye on them :) (Do NOT let them wander unsupervised) SUPER IMPORTANT: Do not let your dogs harass our cats, horses or goats. (It is normal for a dog to bark a few times at a horse but if it is trying to get to the horses or goats through the fences then you need to not take it close to the fence) Same with our cats- if your dog wants to chase our cats do not let them off the leash. Having said all of that about dogs- 95% of guests that visit with their dogs are Awesome pet owners and any of the above warnings would never even need to be said! We have unfortunately had some irresponsible doggie owners and now try to be as up front as possible with dog rules to help those that are clueless about being a doggie parent. Other occasional wildlife include deer, ducks, cranes, geese, wild turkeys, pheasants, otters, muskrats. Ducks and cranes are more common. Geese, wild turkeys and pheasants are seasonal. You will occasionally hear coyotes off in the distance at night. Fishing: We have a 2 acre pond. Many people fish all day- we just ask that you catch and release :) Please bring your own fishing equipment! Birds: We have LOTs of birds- we once had a bird specialist randomly come stay with us and tell me all the different types of birds we have here...oh how I wish I would have written them all down. Or perhaps you know about birds and can help me categorize them? :) Kids: This is a great property for kids to roam and experience semi ranch life. There is A LOT of water here. The pond is about 2 acres and there is a pool. We trust you know your children and can properly discern if this is the right place for them. :-) Over the years we have had tons of kids stay and enjoy. We allow kids 12 and older. About us: We are entrepreneurs and live in the main house on the property. We have an office that is 2 miles away and sometimes go there but also sometimes stay home if there are ranch chores to do. We are both originally from cities and enjoy the peace and solitude this property provides. We are more than willing to be friendly and socialize or give you complete privacy. If we are traveling we have caretakers stay on the property should anyone need anything. (And Dori's parents are 1 ranch over) Our interactions with guests: Some guests we never even see. Some we end up having cocktails and dinner with. We are friendly but can sense when guests want to do their own thing! :) In regards to ranch chores- we try to do anything loud during checkout hours :) Things to Know Before You Come: Secluded: We are 20 minutes away from a real grocery store so make sure to stock up before you come. There is gas station 2.5 miles away that has snacks and basic items. We keep tea and coffee and standard kitchen items stocked in the cottage. Connectedness: We have Wifi. Cell service is not very good. You can stand in certain places to get better signals but Wifi is best here for communication. Please note: the Wifi might go out while you are here and it might take 24 hours (or more) to get it fixed- we do not have utility services here like in big city- aka things happen slower here! This seems to happen about 1 day a month. We have guests here pretty much every night so if it does happen while you happen to be here we apologize in advance and we always work to get it up as fast as possible. Sometimes it's things like the olive branches needing to be trimmed out of the way of the beam! Most guests take it in stride and will do other things besides being online, however we have had some guests be very upset about this so we want to just give a heads up that this IS a possibility during your stay :) Ranch Life: The tiny house is luxurious but this is a ranch with animals and wildlife and dirt and bugs :) Please bring appropriate attire to fully enjoy the ranch life. If during the summer please bring bug spray and sunscreen. If during the winter please bring boots for the mud Seasons: Spring: Lots of flowers and wildlife. By June it becomes pool time. Summer: July/August are HOT- pool is great during these months Fall: lots of fall colors and cooler days and nights Winter: brings rain and it can be soggy so bring boots. The rain makes the grass green but there are not as many flowers as in the summer. We enjoy a lot of fires in winter (Tiny House is fully heated and air-conditioned.) Colors of the Ranch: In our area of California it does NOT rain in the summer. This means the grass turns brown and the pond level lowers about 6 feet. We have lots of different plants and some bloom during different seasons. Depending on when you are here the grass could be brown or green and some flowers you see in the photos might not be in bloom :) Meredith is originally from North Carolina and had no clue the temperature could drop by 30 degrees during the night in California (even in the summer) If you are not familiar with California weather please bring a sweatshirt as early mornings can be chilly. (And do not be afraid to leave the windows open at night for "air conditioning") We also make our own olive oil. If you are super interested, we can arrange for you to go one ranchette over to see the olive trees, do a tasting and talk to my 85 year old Dad about his trees :-) The olive oil just won gold again at the Los Angeles competition. He has about 100 trees and they are his babies and his oil is excellent...
The property resides at the end of a private road that is in the Sierra Foothills. Rolling hills with oak trees primarily. We are 30 minutes from Sutter Creek and the other old gold 49er towns and about 30 minutes from Shenandoah Valley the "other" wine country.
  • Got engaged here. It was THE BEST

  • Meredith & Dori’s Tiny Home on Raven Bear Ranch will exceed your expectations. If you want to have an experience that makes an impression on your heart and leaves you wanting more, then you’ll have to book a stay to understand what it’s all about.

  • We loved staying here, it had everything we needed with all the little details thought out! The property is so pretty and private, so we ended up spending most of our time either sitting on the deck or walking around. Wish we could have stayed longer, it was a perfect weekend!

    Jessica2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the Tiny home for a long weekend getaway. It was the perfect space to recharge and forget about the outside world. Being in the pasture with the horses was beautiful and the 440 acres of country to roam was just amazing. Our dogs absolutely loved being free. It was especially hilarious watching them figure out how to get up and down the stairs in the tiny home (we have 2 80lb dogs) as well as them experiencing horses, cows and goats up close. The deck was where most of the time was spent, just relaxing by the fire watching all the wildlife do their thing. Everything about the place was great and better than expected.

    Emilee2020-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was exactly what I was looking for to getaway with my husband and our dog for a short, relaxing weekend. Can't wait to return and hang out with the horses again!!

  • This ranch and the entire experience truly were magical. As a global traveler who dedicates time to taking in the beauty of nature around the world, I must say that this was a transcendent 24-hours for me. The land itself is exquisite and you can feel the magic, stillness and purity the moment you drive onto the property. The animals are clearly such beautiful, special beings and it was lovely to spend a morning in the same space with the horsies and experience my first frog symphony at night while bathing in the outdoor tub under the moon and stars! On top of all of these absolutely lovely experiences on the property/in nature, the little touches inside were incredibly thoughtful, welcoming and warm. My family and I have already talked about taking a group trip back to the ranch to stay in the tiny house. :) Thank you for your thoughtfulness and the energy that you put into crafting such a beautiful space and a magical experience for your guests! With lots of love, Nicole

Beautiful secluded ranch setting. Has private deck with gas fire pit. See our herds of alpacas, goats, miniture horses, real horses, donkeys, and Texas Longhorns.
  • John and Karen are kind, genuine, honest, and extremely thoughtful. Karen is a “chatty Kathy” that is passionate about animals and John is calm, polite, a wealth of knowledge about all things, and is always ready with a good one-liner. Along with both being easy to talk and having a treasure trove of great stories, they are also extremely generous (give you the shirt off your back generous). There was a ton of complimentary snacks in the room, any request we had was immediately meant with a helpful response, they even gave us fresh eggs after our first night. They both love their animals dearly and want you to interact but also maintain your safety and the animals safety. The animals are awesome. All rescues that have heartbreaking stories but are living their best life on 10 immaculate acres with two dedicated stewards. The alpacas are hilarious and we could watch them for hours. The donkeys were sweethearts, the goats were characters (John & Karen provided “cookies” to feed the goats which was great fun). We also met some of the horses and followed them as they fed the alpacas, donkeys, and horses. The dogs “Smith & Wesson” are two brothers and they are wild. John was honest mentioning they are working dogs that do not come in the house or ride in their cars. We did get to pet them but you don’t venture into their area without John or Karen around. They also have 2 giant longhorn cows, peacocks, a ton of chickens, and a couple of personal dogs. There is also several hiking trails where you can get lost if you want and a pond on the property filled with small fish and thousands of frogs. The room itself was a gorgeous “farmhouse modern” and had everything you can think of. They really did a great job of making it comfortable. Can’t think of any drawbacks. If you’re looking for a getaway to a slower pace of life and want to see some amazing animals, book Lazy Oaks Ranch, listen to John & Karen’s advice, and have an awesome time:)

  • A fun place to stay. Perfect for a unique and comfortable stop. The animals are cared for and a real plus to your stay here. Not really suited for cooking a meal but had great snacks and treats in the frig. Also, the coffee was good. No tv but we were able to tether my phone to our iPad and got movies and news. Nicely decorated. I would stay here again.

  • This is an awesome spot to get away from it all.

  • Awesome western decor, friendly hosts and quiet. Love the views, the propane fire pit and soft comfy bed. Off the beaten path for those who seek peace and quiet.

  • The bunkhouse is a great place to take a moment and relax. The bunkhouse is cozy and decorated tastefully in ranch style. Especially loved the rocking chairs and fire pit on the porch, so nice to sit out there and enjoy the view. John was a great host and took the time to introduce us to all the ranch animal friends. Enjoyed our time and hope to visit again!

    Sheri2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at The Bunkhouse is a wonderfully unique experience. John and his wife Karen have created a beautiful space set in rolling green hills. It is peaceful and quiet and the bed is soooo comfortable. They provided lots of great snacks and bags of cookies to feed the goats, which was a lot of fun. I had a good time just watching the alpacas and the donkeys and felt well-protected by the dogs, Smith and Wesson, guarding the entry to the farm. John answered texts quickly and it was very easy to get in and out of the space. Definitely hope to return soon and spend a few days getting some nature therapy.

Historical stone building located on Main Street of the gold rush town of Mokelumne Hill. Under this building and in this town is where Joe Zumwalt founded the clampers, E Clampus Vitus ECV. I AM currently remodeling the building but promise to not to disturb your stay. I have a laundry room and will add more appliances and services as time passes. My brother Steven is a super host and I’ve hosted for him when he travels, so I’ve been trained by the best. So come stay with me in Moke Hill.

  • Extremely charming, wonderful hospitality. Shelly brought me goods to help with the virus situation like disinfecting wipes, hand soaps, etc. Lots of nice touches. Great big gentle dogs and cool to see horses too on the horizon. Heaters work fast, gas range is strong, plenty of pans. Great escape. On my list to return!

  • We love Shelley and Niles's place. It's so peaceful . My husband and I grew up in rural NY and I'm a country girl at heart so we loved driving the roads, seeing the countryside, including the animals (llamas, cows, goats, horses, deer, etc.). Plus the cottage is equipped with everything you need. It's spacious for 2 people, plus deck is a relaxing space as well. Spring is a perfect time to visit because it's so green.

  • This was our second stay at Old Oak Cottage. Can’t wait to go back. Love waking up and looking out at the beautiful pasture! Shelly is quick to respond to any questions we had.

    Donna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the property. My husband walked and ran around the property and we both enjoyed the views. Since we were there in February we appreciated a heater that worked well and hot showers. The bed was very comfy. We both slept very well. It's a little far from Lodi. (We were visiting our son) But, there wasn't much traffic which made it doable. I loved the horses walking by and the friendly dogs, however, the dogs were a bit too friendly when we had nice clothes on. They were a bit dirty and we were trying to stay nice for a restaurant visit. They were sweet, though. The kitchen had ants, but not so many that we bothered Shelley about it since she was recovering from surgery at the time. Overall, it was a very good place that we would consider staying at again when we come back.:)

    Eduardo2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was clean and we'll kept. There was no window covering on the window in the living room area which was kind of weird because the neighbors Windows were so close.

  • The only thing that surpasses the comfort of the home and the surroundings is the friendliness of the host. I live only live an hour away but I would go there again just for the hospitality and a change of scenery. Not to mention the wonderful restaurants in town. Right next-door to the Amador county fair if you want to real urban yet wine country experience.

A Small home on 25 acres. There are pituresque views of horse pasture, vineyards and the Sierra Nevada range in the distance. Close to lake Comanche, many wineries, and beautiful farms. While we are getting our organic farm up and going we are offering special pricing. We will likely be planting a lot of trees or setting up our vineyard during the next few months.
I'm an artist and chef. And the home reflects that. I love it. Hundreds of acres of nature and farmland is just out the back door.
This is an extremely quiet area with clear skies and beautiful starry nights.
  • Great little house!

    Emily2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were amazing, whatever I asked for, I got, almost immediately. Otherwise I didn’t see them, except in the distance. It was what I needed. Peace, quiet and solitude. I enjoyed my stay so much, and I would go back for sure. Amazing views, and a cute little place. The pics don’t do it justice, trust me.

    Lyne2020-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and quiet place. Perfect place to go if you want to relax. Had everything we needed. It looks smaller on the outside but is pretty spacious on the inside.

  • Beautiful location, super clean, host is super friendly. Amazing little getaway spot if you like the farmlands. ☺️

    Morgan2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a hidden gem! It’s quiet, peaceful, clean, and the host is so great at communicating back. Yes, there’s no wifi, but to us, that was an added bonus. We brought cards, board games, and we had wonderful walks around the area. My son loved feeding the horses, goats, and and even a rabbit that came out twice during our stay and it let us feed and pet it. Host was very, very kind and accommodating!

    Denise2020-04-15T00:00:00Z

  • This house in the wine country is way off the road, very peaceful and secluded in a green countryside home. The days were quiet and serene in the evenings and night we’re also quiet. We thank you for the seclusion and a lovely home that we stayed at for two weeks.

"The Carriage House at Avio", offered by Stefano & Lisa Watson, is vineyard lodging at its best. This completely private, one-room guest cottage, with capacity for two people, is decorated in an upscale authentic western theme. You'll enjoy amenities such as a private full bath, king size bed, fireplace, TV, DVD & CD player, and use of the pool. There is also a separate private kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave and toaster for your use.
We've paid attention to every detail to ensure your stay with us will be a memorable one. Custom features abound; from the authentic cowhide headboard and chenille throw on the full-length overstuffed leather sofa, to the burlap walls decorated with authentic spurs/bridles, and an antique saddle from the 1800's. At the end of the day, you'll feel you're truly the master of the estate as you enjoy a complimentary bottle of champagne to toast the sunset's glow on the vineyard.
Sutter Creek is 2 miles away which is a charming Gold Rush era village with lots of shopping and dining.
  • Stefano & Lisa, we thank you so much for the last minute accommodations in the Carriage House for our mini honeymoon during these crazy times. From the time we arrived and met you the hospitality was on; private wine tasting, champagne for our celebration, access to the kitchenette, with complimentary snacks. The room was so inviting, comfortable & cozy. Listening to the frogs chirping at night and the birds singing in the morning was just heaven not to mention the views were like a postcard. Special visitor that evening was a beautiful peacock, loved it! Super clean, centrally located to my favorite place of all times, Sutter Creek. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you! Jeff & Tami

    Tami2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Best place to stay in Amador County! Stefano, Lisa and their staff enhanced the experience with a private tour of the cellar and some barrel tastings. The room and amenities were perfect. Highly recommend!

    Lauren2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful setting for this rustic carriage house and Stefano was an excellent host. He was quick to respond, easy to talk with, and toured us around his wine facilities. We were able to freely explore the property and felt very comfortable at the house. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to explore the Amador wine scene.

    Ian2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great opportunity to stay at the beautully maintained Avio vineyard and winery in an exceptional setting and location in spacious private quarters next to the Owners home. The location is far enough away yet close enough to everything the area has to offer. The large room is outfitted in a tastefull cowboy and ranch theme and very comfortable. The grounds are well maintained in a beautiful setting and has great ambiance. Our hosts, Lisa & Stefano are excellent hosts and were quick to offer assistance with any of our needs. Dave, who manages the winery, was a lot of fun talking about his passion for making great wines. We plan retuning to this true gem.

Originally a rural cow ranch house. Original brands decorate the kitchen. 1 bedroom (with brand new king size bed) plus a (brand new) sofa bed in living room. Full kitchen with modern amenities. Fully fenced yard and pet friendly (see notes below). There is a loft, but sadly, it is not for use due to the steep stairs. The Farmhouse sits at the front of a 135 acre working ranch. As such, keep in mind that we are not dust free (far from it!) or weed free (I dream of the day). We are peaceful.
Please note that the walkway to the front door is not paved. While we have future plans to improve the landscaping in the yard area, right now, it is in a bit of, ahem, its "natural" state, which is lovely during winter, however is dry grass/dusty during summer. We just acquired this property about a year ago, so we are still working on modifying things to less maintenance landscaping. If you are looking for a hotel feel, where there are tons of "amenities" this may not be your place. We have a clean (albeit dust and weeds happen on a ranch!), neat place in an awesome setting, but it is for "country feel" folks...it's not got the "urban perks". (sidewalks, landscaping, dust free because everything is paved). We absolutely have an amazing serene setting and privacy making it a great retreat!
Just over 1 mile to the city of Ione. Close to Jackson & Sutter Creek. Also near the Shenandoah valley wine tasting region. ( the new Napa Valley) Check out the Historical Preston Castle while you are in town!
  • This place is great. I give it a 10 plus because I can visualize what needs to be done and when Mike can get to it, it will be even better. I feel the price was right and hope we can stay again

    Jim2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay for the price. Very close to highway 88 for easy access to neighboring towns.

    Eva2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place exceeded my expectations!! I absolutely loved the vibe, decorations, amenities, and space. The home is surrounded by beautiful scenery and really quiet. We were greeted by mike on his tractor and he gave us some tips about the house. It was also a huge place for our dog because he had a huge fenced in area to explore and he also absolutely loved it. The bed was really comfortable and also great to have air conditioner units in case it got to warm. I would definitely stay here again and also great for the price!!

    Leanne2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great for affordability. It is exactly as it says in its description, so if you’re looking for a fancy space, this is not for you, but it’s great if you want a place cheap and out of the hustle and bustle.

    Diane2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying at Cherie and Mikes cottage. While we never met Cherie herself, We did meet Mike when we checked in. He was very easy to get a hold of with any questions or concerns and arrived very quickly when our propane tank ran out of fuel late in the evening. The space itself is very roomy with plenty of privacy for you and your guests. I will say though, it is very simply furnished. So if your looking for something a little more luxurious, this is not it. However, if you are just looking for a quiet, relaxing few days exploring the nearby parks and mining towns this is the place! I will definitely be coming back!

    Vik2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is so nice inside and spacious. Everything you need is already there such as dishes and cleaning supplies (if you're a neat freak). Our dogs also loved the large yard and the convenience of the pet door. The were so many sites to see and the country roads stood out beautifully. The highlight of our stay was the fireplace. It's been a long time since I've used one so I wasn't sure if it was normal for some smoke to fill the living room. Overall, this had to be the best airbnb we've ever stayed at.

    Erica2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Super cool and groovy space! Perfect for our needs and great proximity to Ione. Can't wait to do it again!

  • We couldn't have had a better experience at Shaun&Holly's place! Everything about the trip was wonderful, from the thoughtful touches to the beautiful property and kind hosts. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful oasis. The fact that it happens to be in a wine region is a cherry on top.

  • Valentine's weekend was our second stay at Shaun and Holly's Hideaway, and it was even better than our first. Shaun and Holly continue to improve what was already a wonderful home-away-from-home for our Gold Country adventures! We love the comfy bed, the cozy sitting area with electric fireplace, the full kitchen, and the private deck. The baby goats, rural surroundings, and proximity to historic Sutter Creek are all icing on the cake. Shaun and Holly are friendly, conscientious, caring hosts and all-around good people. We highly recommend Shaun and Holly's place!

    Ashley2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Shaun and Holly's place is clean and pristine, comfortable and beautiful, welcoming and homey. We especially loved the full-size fridge and the electric fireplace. Shaun and Holly are stellar hosts who went above and beyond to make sure that we felt at home. We enjoyed the views from the deck, the goats, and the nearby hiking. This is a private, rural setting just minutes from historic Sutter Creek. In a word - awesome!!!

    Ingrid2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were honored to be Holly’s first guest in her decorator style studio set on beautiful acreage in the hills of Sutter Creek. There were many extra amenities that we so appreciated and Holly met us and wished us safe travels as we left. There is a lovely porch with outdoor furniture. We could gaze on the pool and the wooded surroundings. We felt welcome and left as friends and intend to return. The bed was very comfortable and the painting/color choices in the studio felt very contemporary. We enjoyed visiting the goats on the property as well which was an added bonus.

Discover the rich gold mining history of Sutter Creek and taste the large variety of wines produced in Amador County. Just three blocks from Main Street, with restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, a seasonal creek and park, and entertainment. Park your car and explore the charming town of Sutter Creek by foot!
There is an adjacent sitting room to the guest bedroom that is private and has a small keurig type coffee service...plus a piano that you are welcome to play! Your room has a 42 inch TV with Netflix, Amazon Video and local channels. There is a sliding door that divides it from the rest of the house. See pics. I have recently added a dedicated window a/c and heating unit (July, 2019) in the room so that guests can control their own comfort level. And brand new mattresses in June! Once you arrive there is no need to get in your car until you leave! Great places to walk, whether it is for exercise, to dinner, coffee, shopping, wine tasting or entertainment. You will find a very active little theater on Main Street and lots of California gold mining history everywhere you look.
If dancing is your thing, you may want to drive the two miles to Amador City for Dancing in the Streets every Saturday night from June through August. On Saturday mornings we have a Farmers Market just three blocks away. For breakfast, you can't beat Buffalo Chips for a classic morning start or if you want something out of the ordinary, walk another block to Element for a little more adventurous and very delicious menu. Chocolatte is the place to be for wonderful pastries and divine coffee, plus homemade chocolates that will stop you in your tracks. For a casual dinner it's back to Buffalo Chips for the best burger and fries in the county or to the Hotel Sutter for ambiance, a fun lobby bar with the coldest tap beer to be found, the Cellar Bar where you'll find live music on the weekends, Trivia on Tuesdays and HDTV for the big game on Sunday. I am excited to share this town I have grown to love so much!

It's comfortable and unique and spacious, and Judi is such a great host. The main street of Sutter Creek is just a block away. A word of warning: everything closes really early on Sundays!

TV has streaming apps available (such as Amazon/Hulu/Netflix/Etc.) when using your accounts. There are two comfortable reclining chairs to add to your entertainment enjoyment!! If you want a meticulously clean property with gorgeous new decor, high quality bedding, and more, then this is the rental for you! Also, every Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. there is the Galt Flee Market just 5 minuets away with free parking.
There are over 50 wineries locally and every year they participate in "Wine and Chocolates" for Valentines Day, which is a three day event. This self guided tour allows you to enjoy handcrafted Lodi wines and delicious chocolate treats, which are amazing!

  • This was a last minute booking and we were beyond satisfied with Art’s Studio. It was immaculately clean, bed was super comfy, everything we needed to at our fingertips. We were there for a quick trip and we absolutely did not have to worry about shoddy accommodations and could just relax. Arthur communicated with us about some work he had scheduled and was willing to reschedule if we were not ok with it. Hot tub was great and a great way to relax after a long drive. We will definitely ya Arthur again next time we come visit our friends/family in Lodi!! Thanks Arthur!

  • Great little spot to sneak away to for the weekend. Location. Was ideal to Plymouth Wineries. The farm atmosphere was awesome. We loved all the 4 legged friends running around. Had a chance to bottle feed a baby cow. Feed the goats and pigs and horses. The goats even jumped on my friends back as she was enticing them into some goat yoga. The host, Lianne, was so nice. She made sure we felt comfortable and welcome. I would definitely return.

    Amy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous location that felt remote but accessible. We loved making friends with all of the animals, bottle-feeding the calf, and snuggling with the kittens by the fire pit while enjoying the scenery. Lianne was helpful and responsive when we had a couple of questions but we enjoyed our privacy as well. We had a wonderful time!

  • Steve & Beth were wonderful hosts--beyond Super Hosts. We happened to land at their place just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit CA. They carefully sanitized everything before we arrived and made sure we even had canned food & pasta since all the restaurants were closed. They even offered to host my brother's wedding & dinner since we were afraid his venue would close too. They live next door and so were very prompt to provide us with anything we needed. The full kitchen, lovely living spaces, and relaxing backyard actually made our "quarantine" quite pleasant :) This place is a gem and we recommend it in any season.

    Bethany2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Plymouth is a great place with a small town feel and you can't do better than to book a stay at this house. A quick walk to downtown with wineries, restaurants and a cafe and easy access to more wonderful wineries in Amador County and the Shenandoah Valley. The house is really well done and is set up for entertaining with a porch/yard area and built in BBQ. We loved the decorating and how they set the whole place up. We used as part a bigger event (our daughters wedding) and Elizabeth and Steven were such wonderful hose. We had the rehearsal dinner in the yard and they were so accommodating and thoughtful in every step. We could not have asked for a better weekend/event!

    David2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Located very centrally for the towns around there and only a walk to get to the local brewery, the only diner, and the store! Fantastically set up and really sweet hosts. They had plenty of suggestions and were quite communicative.

    Sophie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very private, charming & comfortable home! Everything you need is provided. The patio area was an added bonus, complete with bbq & gas fireplace.

    Carla2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was absolutely amazing! We went to dinner and came back to the fire out back lit for us to enjoy ! All the rooms were very clean! Elizabeth and Steve are fantastic people that will put your needs above theirs any day!

    Taylor2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough superlatives to describe Elizabeth and Steve's place. Superb decor of 1860's home supplemented with modern amenities. Private outdoor covered patio with gas fireplace a huge plus even in January. Full kichen with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. Great location in midpoint of Mother Lode allows easy access to all attractions. Walk one block to spectacular dining at Taste, don't miss Andrea's Bakery (Amador City) for breads pastries cheese, gourmet sandwiches etc. or for that matter the food truck at the top of the hill on 49 before you turn to Jackson. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Amador County.

    Paul And Janet2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriends and I had a great stay at Elizabeth and Steven’s place. It is so well decorated, clean and close to all the wineries as wells right near the Main Street that has some restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay again! Thank you!

    Lyndsay2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth and steven went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding. Her pictures dont do it justice. I was of course a nervous bride so worried cause the weather called for rain. They had plan B ready and saved the day for us. It was the most magical day ever. All the details of her vintage property were incredible. My wedding day was incredible because of them. Thank you so much for all your help. I cant wait to visit there again

  • Nellie offers an adorable cottage style home that feels like you’re visiting family. She provides all of the essentials while also offering so many extras. If you forgot anything there is no need to worry as she has as provided travel sized products. I think the best part was that we could sit around the fire pit and enjoy the new wine that we just bought from some great wineries that Lodi has to offer. It is so nice to be able to reminisce with family and friends just like they came to your own house to visit. We will definitely be back! Also, it’s conveniently located and you can bring your fur baby. :)))

  • This is the second time that my friends and I have stayed in this wonderful apartment. It's clean, adorably decorated, has a nice open sitting area and is easy to access. We love that it's close to the Amador wineries and walking distance from a few restaurants and bars. Kraig and his sister both respond quickly and are extremely easy to deal with. • Pros: -very cute, charming space -had everything we needed -walking distance to Preston, and well as some cafes and restaurants -owners sister brought us a light at night due to the pg&e outages which I thought was very thoughtful! Cons: -nearby bar played music loudly at night. Not sure if this is normal or there was some event going on. Thankfully, power went out around midnight due to the pg&e shut offs so we got some peace and quiet. I’d recommend bringing earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise just in case!

  • My daughter and I and our 2 little Shih Tzu pups had the pleasure of staying at The loft for 3 days/2 nights and were very pleased with not only the accommodations but the beautiful property as well! The Loft is huge and nicely decorated. We loved the expansive bar and fully stocked galley kitchen and the incredibly comfortable king size memory foam mattress was the icing on the cake! We slept like babies! Loved the rain fall shower head as well, which provided nice shower pressure. The large windows throughout provided lovely views of the rolling green hills as well a nice breeze and had ample window coverings for privacy. Everything was sparkling clean and Cynthia and Susan, our hosts, couldn't have been nicer. There was even a lovely bottle of local wine waiting for us, provided by the host as a welcome gift, which was such a nice touch. Communication was always promt and courteous. Our pups enjoyed exploring the property each morning and visiting with the neighbors Horse as much as we did and we loved hearing the chorus of frogs each night. The Loft is part of the main house located over the garage and separated by a breezeway making it nice and private. The main house is huge, lovely and well maintained and the rural location and very peaceful, yet only a short drive to the neighboring towns. We so enjoyed the drive in down the quaint little country road dotted with livestock and daffodils! We visited the Historic town of Murphys and the Ironstone Winery which was absolutely fabulous and the highlight of our trip! Don't forget to visit Andre's Bakery in Amador City for their delicious confections! We had a wonderful time and very much appreciate Susan and Cynthia and their warm hospitality! We'll definitely back! Cheers!

  • Absolutely loved my stay! Had my clinical rotation at Sutter Amador in Jackson and needed to find a pet friendly place for the first 2 weeks and what a great find! Susan’s place is filled with all the amenities you need. The bed is by far the best I’ve slept on at an Airbnb! My little dog loved all the land and became a nature pup. Susan was even kind enough to let my pup out during the middle of the day when I was at the hospital. The sunrises and sunsets every night are such a great start/end to the day. Will definitely be coming back here for a getaway in the future! Thank you Susan!

  • Five Stars all the way around! There wasn’t anything Jessica didn’t think of. Bring your own Instant Pot and you can even have your meals here and not have to leave. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

  • A great place to stay while wine tasting at the local vineyards. It was very clean and quite. The bed was very comfortable. It was a nice space.

  • Lovely decor and space. Very good communication with hosts without being in any way obtrusive. Very quiet. We planned microwaveable meals and were able to have breakfast and dinners at "home". We loved it at the Cottage! Thanks!

  • What a jewel this place was, the hosts went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special, the bottle of wine that they left for us was absolutely amazing !!! This was place was sparkling clean, we would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone, if you have a question or need some help the hosts get back with you immediately. We will definitely try and come back and stay here again :-)

  • What a sweet little cottage. It was a perfect central location to explore the local area. It was impeccably clean and I will most definitely return to do more wine tasting in the area.

    Paula2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Jessica and Matt's peaceful cottage. It is located close to the Shenandoah Valley wineries and nearby town of Plymouth which offers good dining and shopping. Cottage was welcoming, Jess was quick to respond to any questions and check-in was a breeze. We particularly enjoyed the hummingbird greeting us every morning when visiting its feeder. We'll be back!

    Renee2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • I actually live in Lodi, but the sewer line required major repairs where I live so I had to look for accommodations elsewhere. I feel so fortunate to have found Alisha's place, and was able to book the master suite. I appreciated access to a full kitchen, living room, and having plenty of space to park my car. The home was warm and cozy and the bed super comfortable. I'm kind of bummed to be back in my own apartment again! It was too cold to use the pool, but I will definitely keep this home in mind in the summer and recommend it to visiting family. There are 3 additional bedrooms and another bath as seen in a separate listing. Thanks again!

A quaint country turn of the century home nestled in the friendly town of Plymouth, with a large eat-in kitchen, comfy/cozy living room, 2 beds, 1 bath. Large backyard includes lawn games, BBQ, and a gas fire pit. Enjoy the sunrise sipping coffee while rocking on the front porch.
Built in the early 1900's, our family's two bedroom, one bathroom home is located in Plymouth, which is the entrance to Shenandoah Valley. California's new and less traveled wine region with 45+ unique wineries, mostly family owned. Every year we come to escape the chaos of the Bay Area and find tranquility in the quaintness and friendly atmosphere of the rolling hills and oak trees of this once renowned Gold Rush area. Come and enjoy a bottle of Shenandoah Valley's award winning wines in our comfy and cozy country home.
Enjoy the small town, rolling hills atmosphere that is Plymouth. The town is very walk-able night and day. Plymouth is an eclectic mixture of old gold mining homes and buildings, as well as more modern structures. The country store, Pokerville, the county fair, the elementary school, the fire department, the public swimming pool, places to eat, places to drink are all within a 10 block radius. This is the country -so you do see stars at night, cows and goats in fields and there are dogs that bark!!!!
  • We have stayed now for a few times. Location Location , it is in the Heart of Wine and Relaxation County . It can be a Home away from Home .

Private, stone and wood beam guest cottage located on a 10 acre retreat style property. King Bed, Full Kitchen, Loft, Full Bathroom, Wifi, TV, Fireplace We invite you to come and relax and leave the world behind...a place to truly get away from it all: Drink coffee or wine on the deck, Read, Write, Daydream, Swim, Fish, Hike. 1 Hour to Sacramento, 2 Hours to San Francisco *Please read entire listing before booking (About Your Dogs, Wifi, Cell Service, Checkin requests, etc)
Covid details: We are still accepting guests and placing minimum of 24 hours between bookings to allow for thorough disinfection cleanings Baby goats: We currently have 4 baby goats with 5 more pregnant mommas still set to give birth over the next 3 weeks :) (Yes you can pet them we are setting up structured accommodations to allow this) Guest House: Completely separate from the main house. (Approximately 50 yards away) It's the perfect place for a couple or single to relax and recharge :) King Bed, bathroom, kitchen and sitting area are on the main floor. Loft upstairs has a full desk and chair along with an additional plush chair for reading. Full porch on the back with views of the pond and where the horses feed. Guests have spent many a morning drinking coffee and nights on the back deck drinking wine and enjoying the view. Charcoal Grill on deck. Property: 10 acre Ranchette with a 2 acre pond and pool. We are at the end of a dead end road and the back of our property borders 440 acres of county owned pasture land. All of the roads to get here are paved. We do a few personalizations for our guests- if you are bringing a guest or pets please let us know their first names so we can include them :) Checkin- Self checkin- we do not see guests during this time. If you need an early or late checkin please book the night before or the night after. We are booked almost every night and unlike hotels, we do not have other units available to accommodate these requests. Your Dogs/Cats/Horses: Friendly fur animals are SUPER welcome here!!! Most dogs go off leash and absolutely LOVE being free! They are also free to swim in the pond and pool. Make sure to let us know if you are bringing a pet (and their first names) as we have special welcome packages for them :) Pool and Property: Guests will have full free roam of all of the property including the pool, gazebo etc. We have just added another airbnb to the property- it is a tiny house on wheels (like the shows on TV) :) Tiny House Listing: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/27203739 Animals: 3 horses, 3 goats, multiple barn cats and our house dogs. (Amount of horses here can vary as we rotate with our in laws who are 1 ranch over) Horses: It depends on the season how many we have but will always have at least 2. If you would like to feed and/or pet just let us know. They love apples- if you would like to bring some to feed them they will love you Our Dogs: Banks, Jett and Tennessee. Banks (german shorthaired pointer) is older and is inside 99% of the time. Jett (female pocket german shorthaired pointer) and Tennessee (goofy male black lab) like to play and lounge around outside. They are not outside of our backyard unless we are outside with them. ***If your dogs do not get along well with other dogs then we ask that you NOT bring them. (It is normal for a dog to bark a few times at a horse/goat/cat but if it is trying to get to the horses or goats through the fences then you need to not take it close to the fence) Same with cats- do not let your dogs chase our cats- if they chase please keep them on the leash for the entirety of your stay. Having said all of that, 95% of dog owners do not even need to be told all of the above. Unfortunately, we have had some clueless dog owners so we are now are as upfront as possible with all doggie rules. Other occasional wildlife include deer, ducks, cranes, geese, wild turkeys, pheasants, otters, muskrats. Ducks and cranes are more common. Geese, wild turkeys and pheasants are seasonal. You will occasionally hear coyotes off in the distance at night. ***Spring and summer brings LOTS of wildlife. Especially summer! We have LOTs of birds- we once had a bird specialist randomly come stay with us and tell me all the different types of birds we have here...oh how I wish I would have written them all down. Or perhaps you know about birds and can help me categorize them? :) Fish: We have a 2 acre pond full of bass fish- fish as much as you want we just ask that you catch and release. Please bring your own fishing equipment :) Kids over 12 are Welcome: This is a great property for kids to roam and experience semi ranch life. There is A LOT of water here. The pond is about 2 acres and there is a pool. We trust you know your children and can properly discern if this is the right place for them. :-) Over the years we have had tons of kids stay and enjoy. About us: We are entrepreneurs and live in the main house on the property. We have an office that is 2 miles away and Dori goes there to work a lot. Meredith is at the ranch doing ranch chores more often. We are both originally from cities and enjoy the peace and solitude this property provides. We are more than willing to be friendly and socialize or give you complete privacy. Meredith tries to do all noisy ranch chores during checkout hours :) Things to Know Before You Come: Secluded: We are 20 minutes away from a real grocery store so make sure to stock up before you come. There is gas station 2.5 miles away that has snacks and basic items. We keep tea and coffee and standard kitchen items stocked in the cottage. Connectedness: We have Wifi. Cell service is not very good. (Just a grade above terrible::) You can stand in certain places to get better signals but Wifi is best here for communication. PLEASE NOTE: the Wifi might go out while you are here and it might even take 24 hours (or longer) to get it fixed- we do not have utility services here like in big city- aka things happen slower here! Update- it could even take 1 week to get fixed as we just had an event occur where the internet was down for an entire week. This seems to happen about once a month. We have guests here pretty much every night so if it does happen while you happen to be here we apologize in advance and we always work to get it up as fast as possible. Sometimes it's things like the olive branches needing to be trimmed out of the way of the beam! Most guests take it in stride and will do other things besides being online, however we have had some guests be very upset about this so we want to just give a heads up that this IS a possibility during your stay :) Ranch Life: The guest house is luxurious but this is a ranch with animals and wildlife and dirt and bugs :) Please bring appropriate attire to fully enjoy the ranch life. Please bring bug spray Seasons: Spring: Lots of green and flowers by June it is usually very warm Summer: July and August are HOT- bring your swimsuit or just relax in the air conditioned cottage and on the back deck. We can't over emphasize hot! AKA you will be in the pool or inside the entire day. It will cool off by 9pm Fall: lots of fall colors and starting to turn green when the first rains come. Cooler weather. Great time for wine tasting! Winter (November to March): A lot of rain and it can be soggy so bring boots. The rain makes the grass green but there are not as many flowers as in the summer. We enjoy a lot of fires in winter (Guest House is fully heated and air-conditioned and has a gas fireplace.) We certainly have all seasons here although it does not snow. We also make our own olive oil. If you are super interested, we can arrange for you to go one ranchette over to see the olive trees, do a tasting and talk to my 85 year old Dad about his trees :-) (he often wins gold at the prestigious Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition- lol he is very modest so he wouldnt tell you but we will- its a BIG deal as its the #1 competition in the US and the fifth in the world) Tour is $100 per tour and includes a bottle of olive oil.. (Note this is based on the season and availability and is also based on his availability- if you would like to do this please message us and ask if the dates you want to do this are available before you book).
The property resides at the end of a private road that is in the Sierra Foothills. Rolling hills with oak tress primarily. We are 30 minutes from Sutter Creek and the other old gold 49er towns and about 30 minutes from Shenandoah Valley the "other" wine country.
