Holiday Rentals in Isle of Skye

Just booked in Isle of Skye

Right next to the shore - along which you can walk to the local Inn. Simple, spacious and basic. This bothy is our former home decluttered. One large, light open-plan room. Small range & wood-burner provides heating and hot water. Composting toilet.
This is an old stone building with a more recent stone end built by my brother Donald Icky Maclachlan - stonemason. It is very basic but it does have double glazing. The track down into the bay at Camuslusta is very steep. Although some people can find this a bit daunting, the track has a fairly good surface and all the residents of Camuslusta drive normal cars up and down it daily. The front door of the bothy practically opens onto the beach. Although the track to our house runs between the bothy and the shore. You can watch the gannets, gulls, herons, oyster-catchers, seals and occasionally an otter from the front door or through the windows. With views over to the uninhabited headland opposite, out to the little islands at the head of the bay, or of the shipping crossing the Minch between us and the Outer Isles. The bothy has one large, light and spacious, open-plan living, kitchen, sleeping room. The bothy offers flexible sleeping arrangements - there is a double bed and also a 1930's sofa bed which is probably not that comfortable. It is also possible to pitch a tent in front of the house. The kitchen is very basic. One step up from camping - it's inside, and there's a sink and a fridge. It has a small wood-burning range which heats the water and also two-ring gas stove for quick cooking. The bothy has basics like an electric kettle, electric toaster, pans, plates glasses and cutlery. We provide basics like milk, oatmeal for porridge (and a recipe), tea, coffee, olive oil for cooking, salt, pepper. At the moment - guests can use the bathroom in our house for a shower. We have towels - not necessarily the fluffiest ever, but fine. As guests you will have the option of using a simple composting toilet outside (until the new grander composting toilet is built) or the toilet in the house. Our house is a short distance along the track and the bathroom is in the extension by the front door. There is a telly but it only plays videos. There are a few videos in the cupboard - a small but varied collection. Do not expect this bothy to be immaculate - it is a more than a little worn around the edges - but it is a beautiful space in an amazing spot.
The view changes with the weather - very atmospheric moody windy wild wet days and then you wake up to the clear beauty of a sunny day - looking across the still loch to the unpopulated peninsula opposite. Just step outside and you can wander along the shore towards the village, to the pub (the Stein Inn) or the small craft shop. You can book a boat trip out from the jetty at Stein. Stein is roughly a twenty minute walk. Or you can walk the other way to find some peace and quiet. The Stein Inn serves food and there is also a small seafood restaurant (for which you probably need to book) - if walking to Stein, you can also walk around the road, which takes a bit longer. Or you can drive.
  • We couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind after a tough summer of postgrad work! Being able to see Skye from such a relaxed and stunning setting was what you hope for when you come over but might not get from a normal hotel or hostel. We sincerely recommend the Bothy to anyone looking for an authentic Skye experience!

  • I'll definitely come back again.

  • Great little bothy kitted out perfectly with everything we needed for a couple of days. Good spot to explore the north of Skye from and enjoy a quiet and secluded place. Brigid was a friendly and welcoming host and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our couple of days here during our honeymoon.

    Katherine2017-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Brigid was very nice and the location of the bothy was absolutely fantastic!

    Andrew2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet scenic spot, however the facilities are a bit like camping with a roof over your head. If that's your thing, its a location to enjoy.

  • I stayed in the cottage with my wife and my six months old son for five days. The apartment is great! It is very nicely decorated and has a fantastic view from the sofa across the terrace on the sea. It also has a wood fired oven that Gloria had prepared on our arrival so we could start it in seconds (there is additional electrical heating). Gloria and her husband were extremely friendly and welcoming, we hope we meet them again sometimes. We had a wonderful time!

    Klaus-Peter2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect location for exploring all that The Isle is Skye has to offer. Gloria and Willie were exceptional hosts in all regards.

  • Great cottage, perfect for two people. My sister and I stayed here for three nights while exploring Skye. We liked the location, right by a grocery store and enough off the main path you didn't feel like you were surrounded by tourists. I'd highly recommend staying here, clean, cozy, and a heated floor in the bathroom! We cooked most of our meals and the kitchen was well equipped. Gloria was a welcoming host and happy to chat about the area. Stay here!

    Laura2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Cottage for 2 People. Gloria is a warm an perfect host.

  • We were quite late, but check-in after 9 pm was no problem. Beautiful little flat, very cosy, very quiet. Great, soft bed. WLAN and Netflix for rainy days. Supermarket nearby opened until 10 pm. Great starting point for exploring the Isle of Skye. We would love to come back.

    Uwe2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the little cottage! The accomodation was just as the picture showed. Everything was clean and tidy. We liked the furnishings and devices and Gloria was a wonderful host! She is kind, helpful, and very welcoming. Broadford is agood starting point for excursions on the first section of the island. I absolutely recommend this spot, it's the ideal place for a couple!

    Melanie2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Skye has no limit ! The cottage is in the perfect location - stunning views but not too far off the beaten track - easy to find - well equipped . We had such a warm welcome from Gloria and were made to feel so at home . The attention to detail is what made our stay so special . Good job there's so many walks on this beautiful Island - I had to walk off Gloria's delicious shortbread !!! Cosy fire , comfy sofa and home comforts were just perfect to relax after our long adventurous days exploring . Gloria and Willy gave us some local information which we appreciated . We are already planning our return trip . Su and Paule .

New for August 2017 is Waterside Cabin, our waterfront self-catering studio for two, situated right on the shore in Broadford, Isle of Skye. We welcome short stays for two nights or more. Bijou but perfectly formed, the cabin is light and airy, with views to the mountains and the sea. At high tide you will be just a few metres from the water's edge so it's a perfect spot to while away the hours.
The Cabin is perfectly located for visiting the Isle of Skye and the mainland villages of Dornie and Plockton. It is within walking distance of pubs, cafes and restaurants and the well stocked supermarket is just one mile away. In spite of its compact size (27m sq) , the cabin has a fully equipped kitchenette with two burner hob and microwave combo fan oven. There is a TV and DVD player, radio with bluetooth so you can play your own music, WiFi, a lovely double bed and an ensuite shower room. We supply all bed linen and towels so you just need to bring yourself! Outside you have a private patio area with garden table and chairs - perfect for that evening sundowner, Come rain or shine, it's a lovely place to be - we hope you will think so too.

  • We loved Waterside Cabin! It is an idea location on Skye, close to the bridge and very easy to find. It is private and quiet and has a wonderful view of the water and mountains. While to cottage is small, it is cozy and perfect for a couple's get away. You can see the beautiful view from bed when you wake in the morning. Since it has a kitchen, you can enjoy breakfast or any meal at the cabin if you don't feel like eating out. We highly recommend a stay here!

    Patty2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fionas little cabin truly is beautiful, perfect for a couples get away. The location is ideal for exploring Skye and the cabin itself has everything you would need, it was the cosiest place to come home to after a long day. We arrived at night so waking up on the morning to an amazing view from the bed was something else. Enjoying a coffee on the decking over looking some incredible landscapes of mountains and the little town itself is a view i wont forget. I honestly couldnt recommend this place enough if you’re planning a trip to Skye, just know its a hard place to say goodbye to! I hope it wont be my last visit.

The Boathouse is conveniently located in Sconser, midway between the two major towns of Portree and Broadford. It has stunning views over the Inner Sound to the Island of Raasay, a private pier & extensive decking, great for spotting wildlife & migrating birds. The Boathouse has 3 very comfortable double bedrooms with views, 2, en-suite & 1 small double shares a spacious bathroom.
Glamiag, named after the mountain behind the house is our smallest and cosiest room. It does have a very comfortable double bed, a chest of drawers and a large cupboard for hanging clothes and keeping your bags in. It is a squeeze but if you like compact and lovely view, this is your room. You can easily access the spacious bathroom with a separate bath and shower and underfloor heating. The Boathouse's position combines the beauty of the coast with the majesty of the Cuillin mountains. The Inner Sound and several islands provide a panorama to the front whilst the Red Cuillin hills are behind the house. Wildlife is abundant with otters visiting the beach most evenings. Seals and sometimes Minke whales and Dolphins can be seen swimming out to sea and a wide range of birds (both resident and migrating). The Boathouse is a photographer's and artist's delight with stunning sunrises and sunsets, moody clouds, hills and mountains. Climbers and hillwalkers will love the Cuillin range with it's challenging ridge traverse, scrambles and rock climbs. Adrian and Bridgette are avid walkers and climbers and always keen to give help or advice. Adrian is a Cuillin fanatic and is in the process of writing a detailed guidebook to the ridge. Iconic locations nearby include the Fairy Pools, the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, Kilt Rock, Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point, Talisker Bay and Elgol. The Boathouse has off road car parking, gardens, lawns, children's play area, a pier and access to the beach.

Adrian and Bridgette were super welcoming and knowledgeable about outdoor activities and visits to do. • The boat house is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the view in Skye…the comfortable armchair, the music, the window to the waterfront and the smell of the chocolate cake just taken out from the oven made you want to stay there. Adrian and Bridgette are super hostess, they are very knowledgeable on the things around the isle and can help you in your plans.

Although the room, in which we stayed in, was a bit small, it was clean and nicely decorated. The shared bathroom was very clean as well. I really recommend staying at the boathouse.

The room is bright and airy, with views of Raasay, Ben Tianvaig, The Five Sisters of Kintail, the Sound of Raasay and the Red Cuillin and beyond. It is close to a sandy beach, forest and hill walks, and the main town of Portree, where there is a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and hotels. Around 8 mins drive from Portree, but rural, quiet, with sea and hill views, and, in favourable conditions, beautiful dark skies, constellations, the Milky Way, Andromeda, satellites and the Aurora
Braes is one of the most beautiful parts of the stunning Isle of Skye. It is rural, but close to the main town. The enthusiastic wildlife spotter could be lucky enough to see golden eagles, sea eagles, otters, cormorants, deer, seals and, occasionally, dolphins and even orcas. Sports enthusiasts could visit the water sports facilities, or go climbing/hill walking, and the adrenalin junkies could try their hand at the inaccessible pinnacle, which is accessed by guides. We are located in a central part of this small island, and all parts of the island can be easily accessed in a short time from The Braes Bed and Breakfast.
Braes is in the east of the island, just south of Portree, looking over to Raasay, the Storr, the Red Cuillin, the Five Sisters of Kintail, Loch and Ben Tianavaig and more. It's location means that you can enjoy the bustle of the busy parts of the island and, in under 10 minutes drive from Portree, be in a relaxed, green, rural idyll, with amazing views.

  • We spent two nights at George's and Carol's house. We were really happy about that. The accomodation is located in a very good area with a absolutely beautiful landscape. George and Carol were such nice people- and their fantastic breakfast made them even more sympathic. If we will travel again to scotland we would be very glad to visit them again.

  • We loved staying at Lesley’s on our trip around Scotland. The place was very easy to find and in walkable distance from the center of Portree, which is the heart of Isle of Skye. Traveling by car we managed to discover most of the locations around the island while staying at Lesley’s place.

  • We stayed at Lesley's for three days. The en-suite room is very spacious, clean and comfy. From Lesley's you can walk to the centre of Portree within 10 minutes, so the location is excellent. Lesley was really friendly and responded quickly, which made it really easy to settle in. We would definitely recommend her place to anyone who'd like to visit Skye. We had a great time there. Thanks Lesley!

    Val2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Lesley for two nights in December. Her place is well located in Portree - it's easy to find and the room has its own access, so it's totally private, which is nice. Lesley welcomed me and we chatted, but then she left me to my own devices. The room had everything I needed - fast WiFi, tea and coffee, a lovely bed and a couple of chairs. It was well laid out and thoughtfully put together. Lovely shower in the bathroom as well. There's a well-stocked co-op a five minute drive away, or all of Portree is just around the corner. It was an excellent base for exploring Skye and I am sure I will be back!

Down on the harbour you will be able to take a boat trip where you may see seals and eagles.
  • Without a doubt we feel like we stayed in a little private slice of heaven during our stay at Anne's POD. It was tranquil, bucolic, and in a convenient location. I cannot say enough about how clean the POD was, as well as how nice it was to arrive with some food already There (bread, butter, jam, milk, cereal, granola bars, and chocolate bars)! It was nice to be a few miles out of town, yet close enough to go in when we desired.

  • Cute cabin on farm land, Anne was a good host and supplied breakfast food for us in the morning which was super useful. The cabins aren’t big on space but was great for us as a couple. Good location to base yourself on isle of Skye with Portree a 10 minute drive away.

  • Anne's pod was amazing! I and my family loved it throughout our stay! Anne came is to welcome us and talked us through! Although it is secluded but if you have a car it is very scenic place! Wifi only works outside but it was very handy! Thanks Anne!

  • Great little place. Has everything you need. The pod is comfortable, and even has a small heater incase it gets cold. It is a short drive to town. When the sky is clear, great for star gazing. Anne, even has a little fire pit with chairs so you can sit outside to enjoy the view. It was easy to get a hold of Anne when needed. Would highly recommend!!

Red Mountain Garden Cottage is beautifully and quietly situated on the edge of Carbost village, with stunning views overlooking Loch Harport and towards the Cuillin Mountains. This is a small, but very well appointed cottage/cabin which has been lovingly created to a high specification, including handmade beds and sillsand a feature wall. The cottage is perfect for a romantic break*, but also for sight-seeing, walking, climbing and kayaking. (*Romantic are breaks available. Please see below.)
The cottage is equipped for a maximum of 4 guests. The cottage is double glazed throughout and is heated by modern electric wall heaters. The cottage has a comfortable and modern sitting and dining room with stunning views over Loch Harport from the large picture window. Smart TV and Wi-Fi is available if you can tear yourself away from the view. However, please note that our WiFi signal in Carbost is currently very poor. The kitchen also affords guests more lovely views over the loch. It is very well equipped, including a gas hob/oven, extractor fan, fridge, microwave and washing machine. The pretty double bedroom has fitted wardrobes, a lovely bespoke larch headboard and window sill (made by our son) and lovely views towards the Cuillin Mountains. If you are awake, you can watch the glorious sunrise over the mountains. The bunk bedroom, has adult-sized beds (again, made by our son), over-bed reading lights and a double wardrobe. The modern bathroom has a walk-in shower, shaver point and heated towel rail. There is a hair drier, iron and ironing board. Babies/Infants: We can be flexible over this. Please contact us for details. All electricity costs for heating and hot water is included.
Red Mountain Garden Cottage is perfectly situated: In under 10 minutes, walk to the wonderful Old Inn (famous for its traditional music, hospitality and good food), to Talisker Distillery, Loch Harport shore, Carbost Pier, the village shop and post office or to the medical centre. Twenty minutes walk from home is the famous Oyster Shed and farm shop, where you can enjoy a variety of reasonably priced sea food, including locally caught lobster, langoustine, mussels or scallops. The major walking and climbing routes are just a short drive away or maybe you would prefer to kayak in the loch. Within 20 minutes or less, guests can visit the lovely Fairy pools, Glenbrittle and Talisker beaches, Dunvegan Castle or the peaceful Glen Eynort. There are mountain bike trails nearby. There is a small but perfect cinema at The Aros Centre (also a music venue and visitor centre with a cafe and little indoor play area for small children). The Aros is situated just before you reach Portree. If you would like to join in a Scottish Ceilidh then you can do so at the Sligachan hotel on most Saturdays in the tourist season.
  • Enjoyed our stay in this cute tidy modern cottage. It was quiet with a beautiful vista. The town of Carbost was a short walk a way. The Talisker tour was interesting, the seafood shack was great for lunch and the Old Inn had wonderful atmosphere and terrific music entertainment.

  • Everything was perfect. We had the best views, shower and sleep in Linda and Allen’s cottage. Weather was bad on our 2nd day but Linda really made us feel comfortable and offered us indoor options to consider given the bad weather. The Red Cottage was surprisingly easy to locate and it was also easy to get to places of interest from the cottage.

    penny2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Allan's cottage is absolutely gorgeous. It is brand new, clean, bright and super comfortable. It is well located to take in all the beautiful sites of Skye but just out of the way enough to give you a serene and tranquil setting. The views are to die for and you could easily just spend a day sitting back reading a book and taking in the views. We would have happily stayed a week. Everything you could possibly need or want is provided in the cottage. Highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Skye

  • Linda and Allan’s cottage is a beautiful clean place with some amazing views! It’s got lovely decor and is walking distance to the local pub, Talisker distillery and Oyster Shed. Linda was very helpful with giving us tips on the local surroundings and things to do. Wish we had more time to explore the island more as cottage’s location seems to be perfect as a starting point to go round the island and see different attractions. Looking forward to being back and hopefully for longer :) thank you Linda and Allan x

The kitchen had everything we needed (and more!) The views are simply stunning. Location is brilliant. The guest information book Linda and Allan have prepared was very impressive and extremely helpful. Live music at the Old Inn is well worth taking in! Cannot recommend this place enough!

The Hobbit house with its round door is straight out of Middle Earth! It is close to the sea, the beach and the mountains. It has a spectacular view of Beinn na Cailleach (Hill of the Old Woman). 'The Old Woman' was a Norse princess (Skye once belonged to Norway) who requested to be buried there when she died so 'the winds of Norway can blow over me'.
The Hobbit house is good for couples and solo adventurers and small families (besides the double bed with egyptian cotton sheets and pocket-sprung mattress, there is a fold-out sofa bed). It's heated by a halogen heater and oil-filled radiator, and there is a super-sized chiminea outside! For cosy nights in there is a flat screen TV with Amazon FireStick for streaming BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime.
  • The Hobbit House is gorgeous, snug and well kept, with wonderful views of Skye. There is a lovely walk down to the coast nearby, and it is conveniently close to two towns, Kyle of Lochalsh and Broadford. Our hosts were wonderfully accommodating and friendly, happy to help with any questions we had about the area and definitely went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful time. Cannot recommend highly enough.

  • Beautiful place. Great kitchen facilities. Lovely view.

    Hannah2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place to stay. The hosts are very helpful. The hobbit house is spotless inside and the views are absolutely stunning. There was tea, coffee, fresh milk and Scottish shortbread, which I though was a really nice touch. You don't have to travel far if you want and Indian restaurant, chippy or the supermarket. I think every chippy is closed on Sunday's though so do t waste your time like we did. There is lots to do and see so you will definitely not be bored. We would recommend the hobbit house to anybody who wishes to have a trip to Skye.

  • We loved the stay at the Hobbit Home, everything was as we expected, cosy inside and great views outside to the sea and the mountains. We hope to come back.

  • It was really amazing at the hobbit house! The Highlands are beautiful and the view from our house was perfect! We made some fire and saw beautiful sunsets and sky full of stars! Thank you really much! One little thing: take an adapter with you for hairdryer! And the oven is a microwave, so no pizza! ;) haha But at all it was perfect!

  • We've had an absolutely lovely stay here, and found it was a great base to explore Skye from. The views are amazing and the accommodation itself was so cosy! It had all the facilities we needed in a relatively small space without feeling cramped. All the kitchen and bathroom equipment and the other furnishings felt very new. Susan was very informative about the area and gave us nice recommendations on things to do in a handy document. We would definitely like to return - maybe in the summer (;

Rajput Cottage in Glasnakille is, we think, the most beautiful place on Earth. The house belonged to my grandparents, who fell in love with it 50 years ago. We can't promise modern decor or mod-cons, but if you're looking to get away from it all and relax (no internet or TV!), then you'll be happy here. It's perfectly situated for walking (close to the Cuillins, North Coast 500, and the Skye Trail), boat trips in Elgol, or just watching the view.
4 bedrooms that sleep 6 people, 1 main bathroom and a toilet, fully equipped kitchen, open plan living and dining area, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dryer. Cot and high chair. We provide bed linen and towels. There's a big garden perfect for dogs (we have 2 large dog crates you can use). In the garden behind the house is a ruin and wood shed (we'll try to leave wood for you to burn in the stove, but I live a 4 hour drive away so this isn't always possible). The view is magnificent, and is different every day. Bring binoculars for spotting whales, porpoises or basking sharks. Lots of seabirds and wildlife.
Glasnakille is quiet and peaceful. If you're walking with dogs, please keep them on leads as there are sheep grazing, and lambs in the spring. In Elgol, you'll find the Elgol Shop which sells all the essentials as well as a wide selection of gifts, and serves coffee, tea, soup, and the best cakes. Elgol jetty is the place to go for boat trips. Elgol is also the starting point for walks to Camasunary, Loch Coruisk, and on into the Cuillins or to Sligachan. In fact, you'll find walks nearly everywhere you go so it's worth bringing a walking guide for the area. For the Co-op and restaurants, Broadford is the closest town (18 miles). You'll have driven through it on the way to Glasnakille, and should be able to find everything you need for your stay here (including fire wood etc if you need it). It is a good idea to buy food and essentials in Broadford on your way to Rajput Cottage as it is a long, windy, drive. For the most famous Skye attractions, you're 43 miles from the Fairy Pools, 60 miles to the Quirang, and 41 miles to Portree.
  • Really enjoyed the stay - brilliant for 'getting away from it all' lovely walks around the area and loved seeing dolphins in the loch!!

    Mike2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful house at the end of Strathaird. The surrounding is wonderful, quiet and you have terrific views to the sea and the other peninsula across. In the house there is everything you need for a holiday with a family and the garden is a large place for the children to play. The contact with Fhionna was very nice and personal and I got the answers very fast!! And the neighbors around are very helpful and open-hearted! We had wonderful non-typical Scottland-weather: sunshine, no midges and little rain showers! If you love quiet places with great views and possibilities for walking - you cannot find a better place in Glasnakile at the Rajput Cottage!!

    Claudia2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Elgol. Rajput cottage was very comfy and cosy, perfect for a quiet get away in a beautiful spot. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of space. It was very relaxing sitting reading in the conservatory overlooking the sea and hills or tucked up in front of the log burner. Fhionnas communication was great and it was easy to follow her directions and find the key. Definitely recommended.

    Hannah2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay thoroughly! The location is remote and beautiful, just the drive from Broadford to the cottage is a treat in it's own right. There is so much to eksplore and see in Isle of skye.. Dont forget to visit the famoust Spar Cave, which is only about ten minutes from this amazing cottage (be careful though and not get cut out with a tide!)

    Szymon 2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you are seeking a remote and rustic island experience in Scotland, look no further! We had a wonderfully relaxing time at the Rajput cottage. As the description says, the cottage is about 35 minutes from the nearest town. We found the one lane road and animals walking along it quite charming, but organizational skills are definitely a plus to prevent time wasted going back for forgotten items at the supermarket. From the welcome drinks to cozy evenings spent by the wood stove, our time in Elgol was fantastic. A perfect place to disconnect from work and social media and just experience the raw beauty of Skye. Wish we could have stayed longer.

This cosy little Chalet is surrounded by the famous Red Cuillins and the dramatic ridge of Blaven. Its secluded situation, way out of the tourist paths, makes it an ideal location for a few quiet days, well away from the stress of modern life.
The Chalet is located in the little hamlet of Kilbride, close to Broadford, on the Isle of Skye. It is situated on the premises of Ashbank, 3 Kilbride, IV49 9BB. It is a very well insulated wooden log lodge with double glazed windows and doors and a decked outside porch. The Chalet is a cosy accommodation for two people, coming with a combined kitchen, lounge and dining area, a bed room with a king sized bed and a bathroom, featuring a shower, a wash hand basin and a WC. The lounge features a TV and Blue-ray/DVD-player. WiFi is accessible, but can be patchy or slow at times; remember that you are in a very rural area. (Beware: no cell/mobile phone reception in the whole area - which applies for most of the Highlands and Islands.) The sofa can be extended to a bed sleeping two people, but the layout of the chalet is designed for two people. Infants are accepted, providing they come with travel cot, high-chair etc. The kitchen is fully equipped, including an electric hob and oven, a microwave, fridge, freezer, and washing machine/dryer. Sheets, pillowcases. towels, and tea-towels are provided. Also essentials like tea, coffee, sugar, milk, oil, salt and pepper are available. Electricity is also included in the cost. A barbecue and the necessary utensils can be provided. A welcome basket with Scottish specialities and local free range eggs (if available) will be awaiting you :-) Minimum stay is usually 3 nights, but alternatives and shorter stays can be negotiated.
The village of Kilbride (Bridget's cell, church or chapel) is located about 5 miles from the little town of Broadford, where a supermarket with petrol station, a post office, a bank, a pharmacy, and various other shops can be found. Broadford also offers a number of restaurants for all kinds of budgets. It is an excellent base to explore the spectacular sights of Skye, to go hiking, fishing, wild life watching, kayaking, or do a boat-trip. Sheep, cows, wild rabbits are just across the fence. It is a short walk (ca. 10 min.) or drive to the sea where there is a lovely bay (Camus Malag) with stunning views of the Small Isles and the Cuillins. From this bay there is a well known circular walk of about 11 miles which passes through two villages which were abandoned during the Highland Clearances, now in ruins. There is abundant wildlife, including golden and sea eagles and otters. Kilbride is situated in the old district of Strath, which is steeped in pre-history and geology. There are plenty of archaeological sites and we can provide guided tours on request. If you are interested in one of these, please let us know in advance, because, depending on the weather, we might have to produce special gear. One of Scotlands foremost archaeological sites, High Pasture Cave, is just a 15 minute walk away. Close to the chalet one can also find a pre-Christian standing stone, known as Clach na h-Annait ("stone of the chief or church"). The stone is believed to have been part of a Neolithic stone circle. Nearby there is a well the waters of which are said to have the power to heal the sick.
  • Both Jamilah and her partner made us both very welcome on our arrival to the accommodation, showing us the chalet and explaining how everything worked. A very generous welcome hamper was a lovely touch too and very much appreciated, as were the beautiful flowers both in and surrounding the chalet. The location is absolutely perfect for a complete get away as the only noise you can hear are the sheep - perfect for what we wanted. A short walk down to the nearest cove is fabulous too and gave us a real sense of Skye on our first night alone. Perfectly equipped kitchen too.

  • We did not meet Jamilah during our stay but George was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean and the space was cosy. The wifi signal is not very strong but it will connect closer to the house. All in all, we had a lovely stay in Skye and managed to get a nice break from the city.

  • We highly recommend this beautiful cottage located just a short trip from Broadford and set amongst the Red Cuillins on one side and a beautiful hill covered with copses of trees and cute sheep. The place was absolutely spotless with beauty, function, and convenience in a well thought out design. Though there were a million great things about this place, the view from the private bedroom window was so stunning we often found ourselves lying and admiring the tree leaves fluttering and the sheep moving slowly with the sun and clouds. If heavy rains force you inside, you can always sit and read a book by this exquisite window. Our hosts Jamilah and George were just about the nicest people we have met, greeting us with perfect instructions on how to use the place as well as a gift basket that is fit for a king. We will be back!

  • Very clean and very quite place. No complaints from me, and definitely it would be my first choice every time I visit Isle of Skye.

  • This was the perfect place to spend time on Skye, the cabin was clean, cosy and in a great location. Jamilah had left us a lovely welcome pack of goodies and fresh flowers, there was lots of information about the island, we even had time to watch a subtitled gaelic video filmed on Skye! I would recomend this place to anyone, but try and stay longer than three nights there is so much to see and do. Thank you Jamilah & George.

  • We had a great week on Skye. The apartment was a good size, clean, quiet and felt private. It had everything we needed. Jamilah and George were fantastic hosts and gave us some great recommendations. They take pride in their care for guests.

  • Perfect little chalet surrounded by fields with mountain views. Situated down a tiny road in a very peaceful location, all we could hear were birds and lambs. The facilities are everything anyone would need for a stay in Skye. We hired a car and this was a great base for our adventures across the island. Just to top it off very friendly & helpful hosts! We are already planning our return.

Your own piece of tranquility in our Little Skye Bothy, with outstanding views to the loch and the mountains. The pod has kitchen facilities, 2 ring hob and microwave (no oven). Tea, coffee and sugar are provided. There is a shower room, an ottoman double bed and a sofa bed for an extra guest. There is an oil filled heater, table and chairs, TV for watching DVD's. There is no wifi at present but hopefully soon!
This pod is situated to make the most of the beautiful views and for privacy. You can lie in bed while enjoying the view or sit on the decking enjoying the scenery and wildlife
Heaste is a little hidden gem situated on the shores of Loch Eishort, 5 miles along a single track road from Broadford. There are several working crofts and creel fishing boats working from the loch. Heaste continues many of the older traditions of Skye such as peat cutting. There is a sea eagle nesting in the trees across the loch. There are walks to Boreraig (a highland clearance village). There are stunning views over to the Sleat peninsula and knoydart.
  • It was a gem!! When we arrived the pod was warm and smelled fantastic (lemongrass?). Towels were nice and clean and the kitchen was impeccable. It was at night so we could not see the surrounding. We were cooking some dinner when Nicky greeted us. She was very friendly and thoughtful; a proper Scottish warmth! She obviously loved her pod and looked after it very well. In the morning, the view from the pod was just surreal! Hills and loch, lovely little village, goats and sheep grazing... beautiful! 5 minutes driving away from a coop and several restaurants serving delicious local seafood. One and a half hour driving away from the Quiraing, one hour away from the fairy pools, 45 minutes from Talisker distillery and the lovely capital, Portree, 30 minutes away from the Cuilinn, an excellent basecamp! Oh, and we saw the nothern lights from Glendale!! Thank you for being such a lovely host!

  • Nicky’s place is such a wonderful spot! The location is perfect; absolutely gorgeous, remote feeling, yet a good place to explore the island from. Nicky herself was so welcoming and even left my husband and I a bottle of Champaign since we were on our honeymoon!

  • This is a beautiful and secluded place to stay. We loved looking out at the mountains in the distance and watching the cows and sheep (and the sea eagle!) outside, whilst we were cosy and warm inside. The hosts were really friendly and we would definitely stay again.

    Helen2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is just a fantastic location if you are looking for something cosy and a bit out of the way, but still within reach of civilisation and a good base for exploring the island. It's not huge, but that's not the point. The view from the pod is amazing. The hosts are lovely - living next door to the pod but happy to engage as much or as little as you like. Very special.

  • We loved our stay with Nicky. She was warm and welcoming. The little house was very clean, perfectly cozy and well equipped. The view of the ocean and hillside was divine. Skye is an amazing island and staying on a working sheep farm was a really unique experience. Nicky answered all of our "city slicker" questions so we learned a little about real life in Scotland. I highly recommend staying with Nicky.

  • The house is dreamy, the view is incredible and Nicky is a really great host. A stay to remember, highly recommend it to anyone. Excellent house.
