Luxurious and spacious apartment in Grade 2 mill on banks of Aire. Master bedroom, hand-crafted wooden 'sleigh' bed, bathroom with free-standing bath; twin bedroom with en-suite shower room; open-plan living area; hand-crafted bespoke kitchen
Located in the tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this apartment is ideally located for walkers and cyclists. Close to the Pennine Way, Malham's spectacular cove and Yorkshire's Three Peaks, it is a comfortable and cosy base from which to explore this stunning area
Airton is a peaceful village set in the heart of Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There is a popular village store/farm shop and cafe which sells a good selection of basic provisions and local produce. Many of our guests have commented favourably on it. A public footpath leads through the mill's wetland garden and the Pennine Way, 100m walk from the apartment, can be seen from the main rooms. There is a never-ending variety of walks through the natural beauty of 'Calendar Girls' countryside. The area is popular with cyclists, walkers, horse-riders and climbers. You can ramble along the riverside to Malham's stunning cove, limestone pavement and tranquil tarn. During the summer months, there are numerous rural shows and music and art festivals. Museums, steam trains, ice-cream farm, falconry centre - the variety of activities ensures there will never be a dull moment, whatever the weather.
  • Excellent stay. Thank you Jesca.

  • Lovely apartment, I would highly recommend. In a beautiful area of the dales.

  • Absolutely beautiful spot!! Lovely apartment. Very clean and comfortable. Very charming and great location for exlploring Yorkshire. The Pennine Way is just across the river. Loved it!!

    Penny2015-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jesca was very prompt, helpful and informative. The apartment was great for what we had planned - right on the penine way and very comfortable with a great living area!

    Alex2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jesca made us feel very welcome, waiting patiently at the apartment for our arrival which was delayed by horrid traffic on the M1. The apartment was gorgeous...very tranquil and large and airy - just what we needed after a week in inner London! We loved walking and driving in the surrounding areas and the village was very quaint. We spent a week driving around "country" England and this was my favourite region. We'd love to come back for a longer stay where we take in more of the walks and activities.

    Tonia2014-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful short stay at the apartment, we're already planning a longer stay there soon! The property is beautiful and spotlessly clean, with just a 2.5 mile walk to our favourite place - Malham, it's an ideal base for an outdoors getaway. We'll be back!

    Lucy2014-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed it very much to stay in this beautiful apartment next to the small river. It was comfortable and relaxing. Right outside the apartment you can start walking the Pennine Way to Malham and Gordale Scar. We spent a few very enjoyable days in Airton. A barmeal in the next village Hetton (in a place called the Angel...) was of very good quality. Contact with the owner Jesca was pleasant and smooth.

The Lake District, York and Hadrian's Wall are all about one hours away. The Settle-Carlisle line is 5 miles away.
  • Very nice well equipped cottage in the heart of Kirkby Malham. Its a super base for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts as you can walk straight out the cottage for some fine walks. Caroline's communication was very clear and prompt and we had no issues on check in/out. A few recommendations - we found the best local pub to be the Lister Arms in Malham, the Inn at Hetton is also worth the 15 min drive over. Walking wise spoilt for choice, a favorite was joining the Pennine Way up to Malham cove then back past Hanlith Mill.

  • The listing was exactly as described in the details that Caroline emailed. The property has a very well equipped kitchen, two spacious bedrooms and lovely period furniture. Everything was on hand to have a relaxing time. Caroline always replied to emails promptly and would have been available to help with any issues should they have arisen. Caroline made us feel very welcome, the house is lovely and we had a great stay.

  • Caroline was away during our week stay but we couldn't fault her communication from the moment we booked until we left. Caroline was so kind and helpful and responded to our enquiries with incredible speed and made us feel very welcome even though our communication was via email. This beautiful stone cottage was cosy, warm and fully equipped with everything we needed. As we stayed over the Christmas break, Caroline had kindly provided us with christmas crackers and had filled her ornate advent calendar with yummy treats- a lovely gesture. We spent some cosy evenings in front of the log fire and slept very well every night. The cottage is located in a lovely little village with a great pub a stones throw away where we quickly made friends with the locals. I would highly recommend Cosy Cottage as an ideal base for great country walks in the Yorkshire Dales and a thoroughly relaxing stay. We miss it already and would love to come back.

    Mandy2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience. Very tastefully decorated. Wish we could have stayed longer. Best part (apart from comfort and facilities) was the collection of books and literature that Caroline has left for her guests - am sure you will find a range that covers from the expansive Universe to your back garden. Be ready to retreat to the world, where, even mobile phone can not reach you !

  • I booked County House for my husband and my two sons who are in their 30s. They had been threatening to go to the Yorkshire Dales together for quarter of a century and eventually made it. The house is an agreeable, small, end of terrace stone cottage, situated in the attractive hamlet of Kirkby Malham and was built in the mid 18th century for Yorkshireman who are not quite as tall then as they are today. There were only two bedrooms, so the sons had to share. The house was furnished in a somewhat whimsical, but not unattractive fashion and had a long garden with lots of sitting area. Slightly odd was that Astro turf had been substituted for a lawn. However, one son bought a small cask of beer from Edinburgh which they drank in the garden; the ambience was as good as any pub visited during the break. Inside, some of the light switches were around 60 years old but one formed the impression that this was deliberate. Ample storage space and fridges were provided to ensure that only one visit was required to Skipton's supermarkets. County House's location offers easy access to Malham's geological attractions and is an excellent place from which to visit the rest of the Yorkshire Dales. Maureen who is the keyholder was very helpful and chatty and made things very easy for us. To conclude, both lads said they hope to return sometime this summer with their respective partners and children, which indicates they had a good time!

  • Although we did not get to meet Caroline, she proved to be a most communicative and helpful host, responding very speedily to questions we asked via email and text. She even drove the road from Kirkby Malham to Gargrave, which amongst other localities at the time had been subject to flooding, to ensure that we would be able to access the village the following day. Thank you for that, Caroline! The dwelling itself is a delightful, Yorkshire-stone cottage at the end of a terrace in a very small and quiet village, not more than a mile or so from Malham, the gateway to the Dales, and ideally situated for walkers and drivers alike. As first-timers to the area, we were able to enjoy two days of walking through stunning landscapes, following designated National Trust routes (Janet’s Foss and Malham Cove providing scenic backdrops). And since the village lies within easy access of the picturesque towns of Settle and Skipton, both of which are less than twenty minutes’ drive away , we took the opportunity to visit these places. Many evenings were spent cooking in the cottage’s well-appointed kitchen, and lounging with a book or a DVD in front of a coal fire in the cosy lounge. In fact, everything about the cottage was warm and inviting, and contributed to a gratifying, relaxing break. The few evenings we spent outside of the cottage saw us enjoying a quiet drink in the attractive Victoria Arms, where we were unfortunately too late to sample the cuisine, and consuming pub food at its best in the Buck Inn at Malham, little more than a mile from Kirkby Malham. I would heartily recommend the latter to anyone staying within its vicinity. Even more readily, though, we would recommend Caroline as host, and thank her for ensuring our stay in her charming home was so pleasurable.

  • My wife and I stayed in Cosy Cottage for a week. Our host Caroline was not able to meet us, but her contact with us before our arrival and during our stay made everything easy. The cottage is as presented and had all that was needed to make our stay very comfortable. WiFi worked a treat. Mobile phone coverage is tricky, but that was the case throughout the Dales. A wonderful little village, with many great walks accessible just near the cottage. I thoroughly recommend Cosy Cottage, you will enjoy the experience.

  • Lovely stay in a quiet little village. Bridget was away for the weekend, but left details for access and the room and facilities were excellent. Excellent recommendation for dinner at Malhalm - a 30 minute walk away over the Pennine Way which runs past the end of the road. Beautiful part of the world, scenery spectacular.

  • What a fantastic surprise. We'd never thought it would be possible to stay so close to the Malham Cove and the Pennine way in such a beautiful cottage.. With such a lovely host. Everything was just perfect. We decided to stay a bit longer. Bridget served a nice breakfast with homemade jams. As a doglover I was impressed by two very very friendly dogs. Quiet surroundings. Planning to come back to Greengate.

    Annelies2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a welcoming family home with a very comfy bed. The location was beautifully scenic and quiet. Bridget and her family made us feel like we were at home. Their dogs were lovely and well behaved. The guest bathroom was fantastic and newly refurbished. Bridget gave us clear access instructions and helpfully advised on where to visit. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Terrific house, friendly and responsive host, in a great village. The number of walkers who'd had their Pennie Way route disrupted because they can't get housed in Malham.... If only they knew of this amazing place .

    Francis2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house in quiet village, very comfrey and surprisingly spacious inside, room was nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.

  • Bridget's home is wonderful: the location lovely, decor beautiful, and within easy walk and drive of spectacular scenery. It's also just a stone's throw for Pennine Way walkers. I had a restful night in the comfy bed and breakfast was great too. Bridget was a top host, even drying my sodden walking boots on her lovely Aga. Highly recommended.

    David2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first airbnb experience. Bridget's house is gorgeous, incredibly & the bed very comfortable. The house is located just a mile from Malham where there are a couple of pubs, some shops & fantastics sights to see - Janet's Foss was our particular favourite. The walk into Malham for Bridget's is flat & easy going & we walked both to & from the pub for dinner. Breakfast was delicious, cereal, bread, toast, juices & tea. I would highly recommend staying here. Friendly, comfortable & in a wonderful location.

  • Very lovely area. The house had everything that we needed. Wendy was a very nice host very helpful and left us to our own devices. Would definately visit again

  • Lovely apartment in a beautiful area. Nice to find a self-catering let with all the little things needed present - bread board, sharp knife, teaspoons, etc. Could be quite hard to find, but the Waze SatNav took us straight to the door without any problem. Lane might be tricky in winter conditions. Wendy and Gordon were on holiday themselves when we arrived so we didn't meet them until the day we left. Son Joe showed us around and would have been on hand if needed. The one minor disappointment was the WiFi, which is difficult to connect to and very very slow, and perhaps would be better omitted from the list of features. But we don't come to stay in the countryside in order to surf the web, so it wasn't a problem.

    Ian2015-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful, relaxing few days here. Contacted the host regarding our arrival time and we were met as arranged and shown around the house and how to use the facilities. Very clean and tidy and an excellent supply of equipment, utensils and even the little things like clingfilm, washing up liquid etc. These things make a difference. Useful maps of the area supplied which we used and helped us enjoy our stay even more. Local pubs in Malham were within walking distance (25minutes) across the fields. The views are fantastic but bear in mind that is because you are at the top of a steep hill. Wendy's directions were needed to find the house but they are easy to follow. Highly recommended and we will be booking again.

    Robert2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful few days in this apartment. It is beautifully located above Kirkby Malham with fine views over the Dales. Wendy and Gordon were very welcoming hosts and full of local knowledge. It made an ideal centre for walking and visiting other towns and villages including Settle where we took the train to Appleby. There are several pubs locally which serve good beer and food. An ideal place to enjoy the fresh colours of spring!

    Steve2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I enjoyed our stay immensely and were made to feel very welcome. The apartment was very neat, tidy, clean and well equipped. The views were beautiful. We had some very interesting conversations with Wendy, she has a great knowledge of the area and able to offer great advice. We would love to return one day.

  • This was our first air bnb trip and we couldn't have chosen a better place to start! The apartment was very clean and comfortable, and the location was amazing - beautiful views in all directions and so quiet and peaceful, perfect if you want to get away from it all. Joe was there to welcome us when we arrived, and Wendy has provided several maps, tourist information and details of the nearest shops etc which was very helpful. There are lots of interesting things to do and places to visit nearby and this is a great place to stay while exploring the dales. Just be prepared for some very steep hills and few cows blocking the road! Would definitely recommend staying here and will very likely visit again.

    sharon2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Gordon were very welcoming and everything in the cottage was perfect! There were maps and very useful information on hand. It is a lovely spot, with beautiful views, and very close to Malham Cove and countryside. We loved our stay!!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Windy Pike - the location was amazing with spectacular views. The apartment was a great size for 2 people and beautifully clean when we arrived. It had all that we needed for self catering and a lovely hot shower which was welcome after a long day of walking. Wendy and Gordon made us feel welcome straight away and showed us around - they also gave us some great advice on the surrounding area. The apartment is in a great location with immediate access to the Penine Way - so perfect for walkers! It is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest pub in Kirby Malham and Malham is only a 20 minute walk across the fields. We will be back to the dales again! thank you Wendy and Gordon!

The apartment is really well fitted out and the hosts run the cafe underneath (great food!) and live across the courtyard so are very accessible, friendly and helpful. The area is fantastic for walking and there are 3 places to eat within a few hundred yards, but no shops and a long drive to the nearest town. Highly recommended.

  • Lynn's place is superbly placed for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. In excellent condition, it was much, much better than staying in a B&B because Lynn had provided all the facilities - we could cook, relax after a day out, dry our soggy garments - and go and have a great coffee in her café downstairs. Would very happily go back.

  • We stayed here for one night during a brief visit to Skipton. There are two large double bedrooms which provided more than enough space for our family. The area is extremely peaceful and has easy access to Skipton via car. We did not get a chance to meet Jane due our schedules being mismatched. Jane provided us with clear and detailed instructions for arrival and accessing the property. Although we only stayed one night the apartment would be perfect for a long stay due to its great size and having a full kitchen.

    James2014-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location in a stunning village and beautiful countryside. The property is good value for money and Jane is very informative and willing to help! I would highly recommend this property.

  • The place is in a peaceful and stunning village. And the entire house is just besides the host's house. All the facilities work perfectly. My son like the bed of second floor which has a big roof window right on the top of it, can see the stars during night. I like the house and it is best experience of my B&B in UK

The picturesque Dales village of Airton is situated in beautiful Malhamdale amidst superb open limestone countryside. The village was known as Airtone in the Domesday Book, and was originally a Quaker village. There is still a Quaker meeting house, along with a squatter's cottage on the village green and an old mill on the River Aire. Airton boasts a popular farm shop and tea room at Town End Farm, which is renowned for selling excellent local produce. Airton is a great starting point for walkers, with a route along the Pennine Way into Malhamdale, or you may wish to walk from Gargrave to Malham, via Kirkby Malham, where you will find an historic parish church and village inn. More energetic walkers should explore Calton over Calton Moor to Weets Top and Gordale, or eastwards towards Hetton. Nearby Malham is a magnet for visitors to the Dales who come to see Malham Cove, one of Britain's most impressive natural features. The Cove consists of a natural cavern or 'amphitheatre' of limestone rock stretching 75 metres in height and 300 metres around the perimeter. A steep walk up man-made steps is rewarded with a superb view across moors and limestone pavements to Malham Tarn - the Pennines' highest lake. Airton is a wonderful central location with Skipton, Settle and Grassington all within easy reach of this Yorkshire Dales village. “The flat is very clean, well equipped, and comfortable for our family of five. The location is ideal for walking the Pennine Way. The flat has an excellent view of the river Aire. We were pleasantly surprised and think the star rating should be more. Excellent overall.” Mrs Coxon, Market Harborough, August 2014 “The property was in an ideal position and so quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful 5 nights there and would certainly go back there again.” Mrs Smith, Newtownards, July 2014
Airton is on the Pennine Way and the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway. There is a farm shop and cafe about five minutes walk away, they sell basic provisions, (milk, bread etc.) and more importantly wine, beer, and cake. The popular cafe opens in time for a late breakfast, until about 5pm. (Closed most Mondays.) Malham is a couple of miles up the river, and is very popular with walkers and day-trippers. Attractions include Malham Cove, Janet's Foss (waterfall in the woods), and Gordale Scar, a spectacular gorge. Above the village is Malham Tarn, a lake surrounded by National Trust reserves. Malham has a choice of shops, pubs and cafes. The closest pub to Airton is The Victoria, in Kirkby Malham, half way to Malham. About 10 minutes in the car over the tops is the small market town of Settle, at the start of the picturesque Settle-Carlisle steam railway. Skipton is 20 minutes away, and has a great High Street for shopping. There's a choice of supermarkets and petrol stations, also Skipton Castle, the steam railway, and canal cruises.
  • We had a wonderful stay with everything we needed in a clean, comfortable apartment. Beautiful situation overlooking the river Aire in a quiet village. Beautiful area to explore, fabulous walks. Even a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits on our arrival. There is a farm shop on the other side of the village which is lovely.

  • A great stay in a fantastic location. Joe was really helpful in organising our arrival and couldn't have been more courteous. The cottage was charming and excellent value for money - lots of nice touches such as providing dishwasher tablets and cloths (and a bottle of wine!). Lack of mobile reception and Internet was a good thing as we played games, watched films, read books and properly relaxed! Five minutes drive to Malham where you can walk to the cove and Gordale Scar. The farm shop two minutes walk away is also excellent for tea or lunch. Thanks Joe.

  • We enjoyed our stay in Joe's house. It is a good location for walking

    Dimph2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent apartment in a beautiful part of the country. The view from the lounge of the river is lovely. Joe was a perfect host.

  • Had a wonderful time at Malhamdale apartment. Arrived to a bottle of wine waiting for us on the table which was a lovely touch and the apartment was very homely. Loads of space, clean and nicely decorated. The view is incredible - I loved looking out of the window and watching the river below us. It was all very peaceful and refreshing. Airton village is tiny but lovely and very picturesque. Couldn't fault our holiday at all!

    Eve2015-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage apartment. Right by the river with good views from both lounge and the kitchen over the river and fields. We were a family of 5 and the 3 bedrooms were fine for our needs. The flat was clean and well presented, and v comfortable, and the bathroom has just had a complete makeover. Instructions from the owner were helpful and clear. Airton is a nice village - there's a public footpath to Malham right outside the door. No mobile signal or wifi in the cottage - that in some ways adds to the relaxation, but it's worth being aware of in advance!

    Simon2017-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Joe's apartment in Airton was perfect! A really homely and cosy apartment that had everything we needed. It was a great location to 'get away from it all' and we discovered lots of interesting walks and lovely country pubs serving delicious food. Would definitely recommend!

    Sarah2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We liked this old mill a lot. You just walk out and you're in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of England. We were gladly surprised to find a bottle of wine which waited us as a welcome-gift. The kitchen and the living room are pleasant rooms with a lovely view on the river and the squirels around. We used only two of the three bedrooms because we were only three people. I supose that the apartment is big enough for five, though the living room might be rather small then.

A special getaway for couples set in a hamlet in the beautiful Dales National Park. A perfect one up, one down in a converted stable with modern kitchen and bathroom; wood beams, art, stone walls, antique tiles, large garden with a beck and pond.
The Bod Pod, as we call our bolt hole, has real character and is an environmentally friendly space. It was formerly a stable and is next to our home, Bodkyn House. It is located in rural North Yorkshire, the third best place to visit in the world. Our hamlet of Otterburn is inside the National Parks area, and is quiet and friendly. You can step right out your door and head for a walk in three different directions, surrounded by rolling fields. Our garden is large and studded with outdoor sculptures. We invite you to sit by the clear stream and drink your tea or relax with a beer. Both the villages of Hellifield and Gargrave are within a ten minute drive and have pubs and restaurants. Gargrave has a Co-op for convenient grocery shopping. Unfortunately, the Bod Pod is not suitable for children under sixteen.
Lonely Planet voted North Yorkshire the third best place to visit in the world. Come and find out why! Here is a list of the best day trips, which are all close by: The old market town of Skipton is only a 20 minute drive away. Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England and is well worth a visit, as is the local market. The Sunday Times says "Skipton is the best place to live in Britiain." Gordale Scar is stunning and only 12 minutes away by car. Malham Cove is extraordinary and only 11 minutes away by car. The Bronte House/museum, just under an hour's drive, is located in a wonderful village and perfect for a day out. And check out all the excellent hiking in the North Yorkshire area. Once you make a reservation with us, we will send you the links to all the above attractions.
  • We had a fantastic stay at the 'Bod Pod'. Bruce was a great host and we were touched by the extras they put on for us, including (organic) chocolates in the fridge! The apartment is a great base in the Dales and we really enjoyed touring around the county. Skipton, Harrowgate and York were within easy reach. The gorgeous garden was also a lovely part of our stay and we would recommend the 'Bod Pod' to anyone looking for a cosy, quirky base in Yorkshire.

    Yvonne2014-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Bod Pod is a converted stable in a beautiful garden located in a quiet little Yorshire Dales village. The very tasteful decor and attention to detail( including chocolates on the pillows, milk, butter and a range of other " comforts", made our stay so relaxed and enjoyable. Naomi and Bruce were great hosts who had a file with helpful suggestions and were not intrusive at all. We loved our stay and would thoroughly recommend this delightful BnB.

    Bronwyn2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Bod Pod was the perfect base for us as we explored the Yorkshire dales. There was on site parking for our rental car, the apartment was very clean and inviting, and there were grocery staples waiting for us including milk, butter, coffee, tea, fruit, musli, honey, and treats! The bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. The bed is large and very comfortable; that, and the quiet environment, enables sweet sleeps! The bathroom has a very good shower. My mobile phone didn't get a signal in the area, but the wireless internet was surprisingly good inside the apartment. My husband and I welcomed the opportunity to compost and recycle, which we find rare while travelling. Bruce and Naomi are lovely folk, great hosts, with excellent communication during booking and pre arrival. They live in the attached house, making them accessible if necessary, but allowing us complete privacy. We arrived late evening and Bruce was there to let us in. We were delighted the next morning to wander the beautiful immaculate gardens of the property. If we are ever again visit the Yorkshire Dales, we would happily stay here again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Elizabeth2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay in this cosy cottage. Bruce made us feel very welcome by sending us useful info on the area beforehand, and leaving some eggs, fruit and chocolate for us to enjoy on arrival, and coming to chat to us the next day (we arrived late evening). The BodPod is in a quiet corner of the village, with Bruce & Naomi's beautiful garden at the back and a field full of very friendly sheep. We loved the tasteful rustic decoration which they'd clearly put a lot of thought and effort into, and the real attention to detail - it had everything we needed. The place was spotless and comfortable and full of character, without being cluttered. We would definitely recommend it to our friends, and will hopefully come and visit again!

    Bronwyn2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful and relaxing weekend in the beautiful Bod Pod! Naomi and Bruce were perfect hosts being very helpful and considerate. A weekend of pure relaxation in perfect surroundings was just what we needed! We can recommend the Bod Pod for anyone who would like to get away from it all in lovely peaceful surroundings! Wonderful! Thanks Naomi and Bruce we will be back! Jonny and Shelly

    Jonny2014-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in the bod pod, bruce was a great host. It was very relaxing and the little touches like the foody nicknacks and flowers made us feel at home. My wife and i spent the days mountain biking, it was great being able to ride straight from the door into the beautiful dales.

    Steven2014-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in the cozy home and loved the welcome note and the fresh flowers. The house is extremely well equipped! We highly appreciated the extensive “food-survival-package” that was at our disposal. That together with a practical kitchen with all the usable herbs, oils, coffee, tea, sugar etc made that we felt at home directly after we arrived. We stayed 5 days and prepared most of our meals at there. The rest of the house was also clean, well decorated, with a very good bed and a good bathroom with nicely hot running water. Lots of information about the area, stable wifi. The heating was more than sufficient too. We would highly recommend this little hidden jewel.

    Timmy2014-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect escape in a beautiful area...just wish we could've stayed longer! The bod pod is gorgeous and Bruce and Naomi were incredibly warm and welcoming. Will definitely be going back!

Granville House is a very old spacious farmhouse on the old pack horse route from Gargrave to Settle. We offer luxury accommodation with panoramic views. We are suitable for families, couples and groups of friends. The gardens are very pretty. The setting is very rural with sheep and cows in the fields around us. The night sky is dark for star gazing. We have a piano and a guitar and wifi is available in the large kitchen and dining room.
Granville House is very spacious surrounded by beautiful views from all windows. If the sun is shining in Bell Busk it will shine on Granville House from early morning until the sun sets. We are not in the shade.
Bell Busk is a little gem. We are on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but not so far in that it takes ages to get to us and get out again. It's very pretty round here. Very pastoral. Cows and sheep in the fields around us. Steam trains over the pretty viaduct seen from the kitchen window if you are lucky .
  • Beautiful cottage set in lovely Yorkshire farmland. The cottage is well equipped and provides a perfect base for exploring the dales. We were very comfortable here and would love to come back again.

    Catherine2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us stayed at Granville house for a long weekend. Had a fantastic time, the house was very clean and well equipped, as well as beautiful, both in design and location. Very well based for trips to nearby beauty spots such as malham cove and gordale scar. A car is definitely a good idea as the location is quite remote (which adds to the atmosphere but would be very hard to reach by public transport). Great trip and would be a comfy space for a family or a group of friends.

  • A lovely place to stay with older children. A quiet country setting and a spacious and very comfortable home to stay. Very clean and tidy. A beautiful part of Yorkshire.

  • Our family of 4 had a very nice stay here. Plenty of room, cozy atmosphere and beautiful views.

    Heidi2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • This home is the ideal setting for rest and relaxation. We traveled with our four children and the house was very well set up for everyone to have some space. It felt like a home away from home. The kitchen is very well appointed and the setting is amazing. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We wished our time could have been for much longer than a week!

East Cote Cottage. Beautiful, stone-built period cottage in Long Preston, a short drive from Settle. WiFi, Coffee machine, Washer/dryer and dishwasher. Summer seating area. Ideal touring base for the Yorkshire Dales, Skipton & Lake District.
Compact and "home from home" our guests describe East Cote. Everything you need for a break away.
The peace☺️ You can walk to the pub and eat there if you wish. Everyone is polite and friendly and our village is very clean and tidy with great access to walks and things to do.
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at East Cote cottage for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The cottage is just beautiful - really cute and cosy, but very well equipped. The bed was really comfy, and the shower excellent (as my own house has a weak shower I always notice a good one!!)! Sarah was brilliant at communicating and we checked in and out with no stress at all, we knew she was there if we needed her but were also able to enjoy the cottage as our own for the weekend. We walked down to a local pub on the Saturday which was nice and only took 10 minutes, and during the days we were able to visit Ingleton Falls, as well as going for a bit of a walk. Thank you, we'll definitely be recommending East Cote to friends and family!

    Kayleigh2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • East Cote was our very first experience with an airbnb....absolutely loved it! From the moment we stepped in, we knew we would love it. The cottage is so cozy and beautifully decorated, very simple and clean but felt so comfortable being there. The kitchen was so nice and updated with everything you could possibly need. All in all, we loved the cottage and wanted to stay longer! The location was also perfect for our day trip to Yorkshire Dales National Park. We also walked to the local pub for dinner, making it a perfect location. Thank you again Sarah!

Mountain biking to suit all abilities is right on the doorstep and the area is a magnet for road cyclists too. If that all sounds a bit too energetic, there's masses more to explore locally. Skipton is 15 minutes drive away for local shopping or a relaxing boat trip on the canal. Beautiful Malhamdale and Wharfedale are right on the doorstep. Just a little further afield, there's Bolton Abbey, the Settle-Carlisle Railway and the awe-inspiring landscape of the Three Peaks. For high end shopping, Leeds is easily accessed by train - and Harrogate is less than an hour by car with its Turkish Baths and well-loved Betty's tea rooms. You'll be spoiled for choice.
Winterburn is a quiet rural community. The land around the house is farmland. Please take great care on the drive through the woods. There may be animals or children on the road. When exploring the surrounding area, it's important to always stay on the public footpaths and observe the Countryside Code.
  • Our stay in the wash house was perfect, the location is so picturesque and it was so comfortable with little extra touches that made all the difference. I would highly recommend this place to anyone as it is just the right detox we needed in the countryside, thanks for hosting Josephine!

    Kerrie2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Josephine was very hospitable and welcoming. The washouse is very well equipped, newly converted with style and comfort. • Me and my boys had a lovely stay at Margaret's cottage. The location is wonderful and within walking distance to the village of Settle. It is well equipped and if we did have a query Margaret was always on hand to answer it. My boys did the 3 peaks while we were there so it's a great base for touring the Yorkshire Dales. Kitchen is well equipped for making your own meals though we ate out each evening. All in all a fab stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thanks Margaret!

    Julie2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't meet Margaret but the arrangements for getting in to the property worked very well. The cottage was very clean and as described on Airbnb. The location was perfect and in a particularly charming bit of Settle. Parking outside was not a problem for us. The cottage was very comfortable and warm despite rather bad weather for the season. Settle is a great place, with a good variety of interesting shops and places to eat. The scenery is lovely and overall we were very happy with our stay.

The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave, fridge and toaster along with table and benches to seat 4. We do not have room for a washer and dryer but the local laundry is within one minutes walk. The lounge comfortably seats 4 and has a large flat screen digital TV and DVD. Outside space constitutes a private garden with BBQ leading onto the old lanes of Upper Settle.
Upper Settle has a quiet laid back feel with direct access to some of our countries best walking and cycling. However following any daily exertion the market town of Settle houses numerous pubs, cafes, restaurants, sports clubs and its own theatre

  • Thanks for a wonderful stay in a beautiful cosy cottage for such a reasonable price. Very cold snowy weather, but the place heats up so quickly - I wish our own central heating was that good! Lovely surroundings, walks, etc, and a TV and DVD player if you need it. The bed was really comfortable, the kitchen has everything you'll need. Parking wasn't a problem either.

  • My partner and I are just back from a well needed break in Settle. What a charming little cottage. Really cosy. Really sweet. Shaun communicated lots of info to us which helped in the planning of what we would do and where we would eat. Well equipped kitchen which I could cook in easily. A long weekend was not enough to see and do everything so we'll be sure to be back. Many thanks.

    Sharon2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Shaun and this partner were incredibly accommodating. Booking and arrival were pain free. The cottage spot on and a lovely warm and cosy place. Graeme and I loved it, thanks very much

    Nicola2014-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy pretty little cottage. Well situated for all amenities in Settle. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped though the upstairs loft bedroom would be a bit of a challenge for anyone not fit and active. We enjoyed our stay despite the dreadful weather. would certainly consider another visit. With luck when the weather improves as the srea has a lot to offer. Thank you for a relaxing weekend break

    wendy2015-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Rachel have a wonderful little cottage. We completely the three peaks challenge and then had a chilled couple of days in the cottage. Has all the essentials you will need for a relaxing weekend in Settle.

    Jordan2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very cute, clean and comfortable, and ideally located for walking. The weather wasn't always great so it was nice to come back to such a cosy place in the evening. There are some nice short walks directly from the doorstep with great views. Only a short drive to other main walks. We didn't meet Shaun but check in/out was seamless. We would definitely stay again.

Spacious apartment in a grade 2 listed building dating back to 1697, in the centre of Settle & on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Spectacular limestone scenery provides a magnificent backdrop to this traditional market town of Settle. This is the UK home of the host who is a rather active but senior OAP who will be in residence along with guests.
Sitting in the Ribble Valley Settle is surrounded by some of the best walking country in the UK, covering the Yorkshire Dales, Three Peaks, and the Forest of Bowland. An ideal location to explore on foot, by car, or cycle. Caxton House is a 4 minute walk to the rail station for the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway
I emigrated to Settle in 2007 from another beautiful location in the Vale of Glamorgan. I took Caxton House on till I could find something better, but stopped looking within 6 months. Everything is within walking distance from shops to pubs and even the railway for the train to Leeds or Carlisle
  • Arthur met us at the train station and gave us a quick tour of the town before dropping off our luggage. He took us on a lovely walk through the dales and gave us a beautiful view of Settle from high up! The bed was absolutely the best we slept on our 2 week holiday in the UK. We only had 3 days with Arthur but he helped us make the most of our time there. After a generous breakfast each morning, he offered to take us on walks. We, explored limestone quarries, the kiln, the town of Giggleswick and the river Ribble, all by our own guide Arthur. His home is cozy and comfortable and we hope to visit him again soon!

    Melanie2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Arthur - our host was very welcoming and kindly offered to meet myself and a friend (who was also staying at his cottage) at the Railway station on our arrival. We were also taken on a short walk of the surrounding area which was a bonus and appreciated. The cottage is situated in the centre of Settle in a quiet area . This listing is very accurately described - my bedroom was of good size clean and comfortable (as was the whole property overall) A resonable breakfast was also provided at a small extra cost. Arthur was an interesting and inspiring host and we heard stories or his many travels, work and fundraising efforts for charities over a number of yearS. This added to an enjoyable stay in this pleasant small Town in the Yorkshire Dales. Thanks Arthur!

    Glenn2015-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Arthur is the perfect host and his apartment is beautiful, right in the centre of Settle. I can highly recommend a stay here!

    Esther2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • I arrived after a cycle in the pouring rain to arrive drenched on the doorstep, Arthur was so friendly and welcoming, despite my dishevelled state. The home was warm and comfortable and the surrounding area was beautiful. Arthur kept me entertained with incredible stories of his travels and showed me some of the really interesting spots in settle that i never would have thought to explore had he not suggested. I had an excellent weekend for a very reasonable price and just wish that i had stayed for longer.

    Jess2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a single night at Arthur's place, which is ideally located in the centre of the village. Arthur is very popular and it's no wonder. The room in itself has everything you might need, including tea, and Arthur's flat is also very nice. The breakfast was large and tasty. Overall very recommended!

    Joshua2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The best thing about staying with Arthur, is Arthur himself! My girlfriend and I needed a place to stay in the Settle area for a friends wedding and we couldn't have found a better location and host. What caught our eye with Arthur's profile was all his exploits in Nepal as we are off there in October/November. The things Arthur has done since retiring are truly remarkable and it is well worth staying with him just to hear some of the stories. With regards to the property it is very comfortable and it's location in the heart of beautiful Settle make it an ideal spot for visiting the surrounding area. Can't recommend it highly enough.

  • We stayed as a family of four in this house in Settle whilst on a week’s holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. I can truly say that it was an exceptionally positive experience both in terms of the house and locality. The house was so well prepared for guests. It oozed charm and comfort. Our host – Simons Mum – could not have been more helpful and sociable. We would definitely consider returning and would have no hesitation to recommending it to others. As for the location – it was stunning. Settle makes a superb base for exploring the breath-taking Yorkshire countryside. We packed in a much a possible, but in our seven days only scratched the surface of what Yorkshire had to offer. Settle itself is great to return to after a long days track with plenty of good inns. For our evening meal, we particularly liked The Lion (3 nights), Falcon Manor and Lister Arms (Malham) further afield. The Tourist Office offers a wealth of local knowledge. Neighbours and community alike were very welcoming. We tried to take part in local activities such as going on an organised dog walk on the Sunday morning – even though we didn’t have a dog! It was great fun. If you like the great outdoors, followed by a warm cosy evening with a glass of wine or real ale then this is the place for you. Enjoy it – we certainly did.

  • Wonderful place! Jonathan was great to deal with and the (surprisingly spacious) house was lovely. After the long days walking, the cosy beds and sofa were very welcoming. Brilliant!

    Jack2014-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were delighted with the accommodation provided. It was true to the description, in a great location and very comfortable for the two nights we stayed. Everything was clean and well presented with everything we could have needed for our stay. The bathrooms were immaculate and the beds extremely comfortable. We had adequate towels for us all (four adults) and we were delighted to find the welcome bottle of fizz and biccies. Overall a great experience from the start. Jonathan gave good information and was prompt in his responses. Would recommend.

    HANNAH2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan's barn conversion provided a comfortable place from which to explore the Dales (I had forgotten how stunning they are). The accomodation had clearly been recently renovated and the barn was a really nice space to relax in. Jonathan was helpful and informative beforehand. Settle is a nice little town and it was good to be able to walk and get shopping rather than get in the car each time. Whilst we had no problem parking with our small car larger groups with a couple of cars might want to note that the parking is rather tight.

    Laura2014-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was good to get a bottle of wine and biscuits on the table when we arrived. The barn conversion was as described and things generally worked well. One issue was with the parking outside. Parking before the white line (closest spot to the house) was causing a problem for larger vehicles who were unable to get past.

    Mark2015-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely converted barn, perfect for what we needed after a long walk around the three peaks!

    Georgina2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our host Jonathan was extremely extremely helpful in arranging our trip in advance. The venue was wonderful in all respects, accommodating our large family group with ease in a pleasant and airy space. The views from the barn and the beautiful countryside in which it was located really made the trip for us. Settle is a lovely town which satisfied all our practical needs.

Holmehead is in Langcliffe, 1 mile from the town of Settle and the famous Settle Carlisle railway. A myriad of trails lead from the house in all directions providing multiple choices for walkers and cyclists, and its proximity to several towns and villages makes for easy access to a wealth of activities, shops and restaurants.

There are 2 bedrooms with double beds, which makes this flat ideal for couples, pairs of couples or solo travellers. Woodlands was built in 1905 as a country gentleman's residence. Now beautifully restored and furnished in simple early twentieth century style.
Woodlands is a large house, but also homely and you'll have the place to yourself. So you've a choice of ten lovely bedrooms, grand reception rooms or cozy snugs.
Giggleswick is a pretty village with two nice pubs and shop. The lovely market town of Settle is a twenty minute walk across the river.
  • Great space for a big family get together. We had a mixed group from aged 8 to 75. An easy walking distance into Settle, where there are some nice shops, cafes and pubs. The views from the house were amazing. And some good walks close by. Overall great value.

    martin2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Woodlands as a large family group (including two children) to celebrate a special birthday. Woodlands was perfect for us! Everyone across all age ranges loved the house and the space. The birthday girl chose the room with the 4 poster bed and loved it! The location of the house is a short walk into town and the surrounding scenery is beautiful. And David was great to deal with. We are looking at ways to go back! Thanks again David, Natasha.

  • Woodlands is the most beautiful place, we enjoyed our stay here so much! Waking up to the views after a good nights sleep and then wondering around the utterly picturesque village was just perfect! We also really enjoyed the food at the local bub at the bottom of the road. We loved this place so much it was really hard to leave and we'll definitely be back again next year!

  • A last minute break from Leeds with my partner. The house was everything I expected and much more: tasteful, relaxing and spotless. We particularly enjoyed the fire in the cosy Edwardian sitting room. Our room had a fantastic free standing cast iron bath and uninterrupted views out over the Yorkshire Dales. Settle and Giggleswick have many great value eateries. We ended up having a lovely meal together in the Golden Lion. I hope to revisit!

  • Thank you so much for letting my family stay at your incredible home. A truly beautiful house in a stunning location - the house was the ideal setting for a family celebration. All the rooms were clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The house was charming, warm and huge!! David was a wonderful host, he met us on arrival and then left us to it, he was speedy in his response to emails, he even left a bottle of milk in the fridge for us! We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to return again in the future!

  • Have just stayed in this amazing country house. David met us briefly and and let us choose which room we liked, we plumped for the four poster with its en suite bathroom. The house is a real experience, beautifully decorated and furnished, it felt like we were in an Agatha Christie film. The big farmhouse style kitchen is fully equipped, and we had fun eating dinner in the huge dining room…..not quite at each end of the huge table but we certainly got to feel like the Lords of the manor. Then there’s a lovely panelled sitting room with a real fire to relax in and enjoy. In the morning we had breakfast and enjoyed the terrace looking out across the green and beautiful valley, before setting off on a lovely walk to Stainforth waterfalls. The footpaths start right next to the house. Woodlands is superb, what a find, I can't recommend it enough and hope to be able to go back and enjoy it all again.

Traditional 3 bed cottage set in the heart of Giggleswick. The cottage comfortably accomodates 4 people (2 double beds, 1 single) over 3 levels, (not ideal for toddlers or people who may struggle with steps). Well equipped up to date kitchen (with dishwasher, fridge/freezer). Multi fuel stove and central heating.
With plenty of space for 4 people the property offers new fixtures and fittings throughout with good WiFi for those who need to be connected. The cottage offers comfortable, homely accommodation. The sitting room has a multi-fuel stove, flat screen television with DVD player and Freeview. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped. There is an outside communal yard, with table and chairs.
The location is ideal for exploring the Dales or the Lake District and equally suited for those that want to switch off. Local amenities include a swimming pool, local shops, 9 hole golf course, weekly market, and a Booths supermarket. Fishing on the river Ribble is available with plenty of opportunity for other outdoor activities other than the abundance of good walking right outside the door. Malham Cove is a 20 minute drive away. Settle offers a variety of eating houses, curry, Chinese, traditional pubs and restaurants.
  • Fabulous quirky cottage fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Heaps of cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, loads of fresh clean towels, beds luxurious, coal and kindling for the fire, central heating and slightly temperamental TV. Great WIFI reception downstairs, less so in the upper levels. Brilliant location, brilliant cottage and Carole is a brilliant host. We loved it and highly recommend this cottage in the quaintly named village Giggleswick 8 minute walk for Settle. And there's a lovely respectable and quiet pub ...22 steps away

  • We have just returned from a lovely relaxing week away at Lynchgate Cottage - thank you Carole for an amazing retreat after a lovely day of hiking in the beautiful Dales. The cottage is welcoming and cosy and really well equipped to a high standard. The children loved the selection of books and boardgames for us all as a family to enjoy in the early evenings. We also really appreciated the welcome bottle of wine and flowers so thank you Carole. I'll recommend your cottage to all my friends and look forward to a return visit!
