Places to stay in Little Stretton
Designed with luxury & pampering in mind. You can enjoy wonderful views, through the trees, of the Long Mynd & Church Stretton. It's this mix of seclusion yet close proximity to local amenities that really sets us apart. Search for Oaks Lodge in Shropshire on Trip Advisor and read the wonderful reviews left by our guests. PLEASE NOTE: Our prices are higher on Airbnb due to the Extenuating Circumstances Policy, feel free to chose the booking platform that best suits your requirements.
For more guest opinions about Oaks Lodge please take a look at all our reviews on Trip Advisor. Please call or text - O seventy-seven eighty-two, then 25, 92 and thirty-one - or 'Contact the Owner' and Sara will happily discuss your requirements. Welcome to Oaks Lodge, your luxury lodge nestled in a 1/3 acre woodland dingle beneath a canopy of oak trees. Unwind in your Jacuzzi spa, surrounded by the natural beauty of mature oaks and the lodge's modern western red cedar cladding, whilst listening to the soothing background trickle of the stream as it meanders beneath you. Sit back and relax with an evening drink on the composite decking, warmed by the Burda electric heater, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and often squirrels chasing each other around the branches of the oak trees. Oaks Lodge is accessed from a dedicated parking area by a gravel path (approximately 80m long) located along the lower level of the owners' secluded, tiered garden. As you walk along the pathway, lit by floor level LEDs, through carefully chosen shrubs and planted slopes and pass through a gateway of two magnificent oak trees, you gain your first glimpse of the lodge; the elevated balcony and front windows with the stream below flowing gently from the waterfall behind (except in periods of low rainfall). It's a truly unique and magical space and yet only a short walk into the middle of Church Stretton town with its eateries, independent specialist shops and attractions. After a day's activities you can Retreat into your personal haven and relax. Oaks Lodge has been designed with luxury and pampering in mind, yet is offered with a realistic price tag. We want you to enjoy your stay with us, whether you are planning a romantic getaway or mini-moon, an activity break or simply some time to yourselves. From your elevated private balcony and hot tub, you can enjoy wonderful views, through the trees, of the Long Mynd and areas of the town. It's hard to believe that Oaks Lodge is only five minutes' walk away from the train station and a few minutes more into the centre of Church Stretton. It's this mix of seclusion yet close proximity to local amenities that really sets Oaks Lodge apart. We believe the little things make the biggest memories. Inside, we have striven to provide everything you might expect from a luxurious getaway: underfloor heating, a cosy flame-effect fire, a fully-equipped kitchen, powerful rain shower, super king bed and outdoor Hot Tub are just some of the touches that we believe will make your stay extra special. As we are a small, family run enterprise, we are always on hand to give you advice, if wanted and help, when needed. Our goal is to ensure that you have an unforgettable time at Oaks Lodge. We have recently partnered with MyPersonalSanctuary where you can book spa treatments to be taken at Oaks Lodge to make your stay even more special so please take a look. Oaks Lodge is private, yet is a 10-minute walk into town. The garden shares a boundary with an adjacent property. There is newly-planted bamboo screening to further help with privacy, and next door are in the process of redesigning their garden.
  • Lovely place & hosts, The lodge is private and in beautiful surroundings with views across church Stretton and The Mynd. Town is a little walk away with some lovely places to eat and drink. Sara recommended a number of good places to visit. We will definitely be going back again and highly recommend oak lodge and hosts.

Larches Lodge is an authentic Norwegian log cabin offering private self-catering accommodation. It is set within a secluded larch copse in the one acre gardens of our family home. Perched on the hillside, Larches Lodge has fantastic views over the picturesque town of Church Stretton, often nicknamed “Little Switzerland", and is the only market town to be found in South Shropshire's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Adjacent to the main house (around 10m away though separated by a tall wall) Larches Lodge is equipped and furnished to a very high standard and can sleep up to two people. Church Stretton town centre is an easy stroll away (approx 500m). Here you can find small shops, cafes, restaurants, a wine bar, pubs, an antiques market, golf course and railway station. The train station is a five minute walk away and can take you to the centre of medieval Shrewsbury or the historic market town of Ludlow in under 15 minutes - it is on the mainline from Cardiff to Manchester. Also within easy reach are notable sights such as the museums of Ironbridge, Stokesay Castle, Offa's Dyke, Weston Park and Buildwas Abbey to name but a few of what Shropshire has to offer. Larches Lodge is dwarfed by the glorious backdrop of the Long Mynd, Caradoc and Carding Mill Valley all but a stones throw away. You are spoilt by many beautiful and scenic walks to suit both the less energetic and more experienced hill walkers. You will not be disappointed. Church Stretton is an historic market town set in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town just hums with happiness. It is not unusual for total strangers to say hello and stop of a chat with you in the street - something that does not happen enough in this day and age!
  • This is truly the most perfect place for a little couples retreat! The cabin was so cute and cosy, the hot tub and the little fire place really made it for me and my partner. I am recommending this place to everyone I know who wants to have a little relaxing break! Also, the host was really lovely. So welcoming and made us feel extremely comfortable. Its very close to the main house but it really feels like you are in your own little world here! Would book again x

  • Larches Lodge is absolutely stunning - beautifully designed and built wood cabin with a little cosy wood burner. The hot tub is phenomenal after a day of hiking and there are tons of great pubs nearby. Sara went above and beyond for myself and my friend and we had the most wonderful time. One of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in.

  • Unique little Airbnb located in a perfect location for exploring the shropshire hills - would recommend walking up to pole bank and the waterfall, beautiful views! The hut itself is cute, idyllic and extremely cost. It has everything you need for a weekend away and the bed is so comfy (like sleeping on a cloud)! Caroline is an amazing and lovely host who goes over and beyond to ensure her guests are happy - thanks for everything! If I could give shepherds hut more than 5 stars I would, would definitely recommend to anyone staying in church Stretton!

    Ben2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • The Shepards Hut is a little hidden gem. Lovely location about 10 minute stroll from the centre of Church Stretton and a stone's throw from lots of local walking routes. The panoramic views of the Long Mynd are fantastic. The space itself is really stylish and has everything you'd need for for a short to medium length stay. Bed is super comfy and the little window at the end of the bed is a fantastic way to wake up. Caroline was a great communicator and gave us loads of hopeful tips for local restaurants when we arrived. Would highly recommend.

    Jonathan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z

Location, location, location. It’s not that the Pottery holiday cottage isn’t lovely (our guests are very complimentary). It’s just that we know that the main reason so many guests return to the Pottery is simply because of where it is. The Pottery nestles next to the Longmynd, a 6,000 acre area of National Trust moorland. An area of outstanding natural beauty, the scenery and views are stunning. And you're just 5 minutes drive from the supermarket and amenities of Church Stretton.
  • Brilliant place for exploring the Shropshire countryside. Cosy and welcoming with plenty to do if the weather turns for the worse. Close to the village with great shops and eateries. Love to stay again. Highly recommended.

    Joanne2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A superb place for enjoying and exploring The Long Mynd and surrounding countryside. The Pottery is quiet, warm, clean, private and has excellent facilities.

    Roland2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy place :) surrounded by amazing scenery, some amazing walks right on the doorstep! Even though Mary and Mark are next door you have all the privacy you could need! Would definitely return!

    Grace2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, spacious and very clean. Mary was communicative without being intrusive, we had everything we needed and were even allowed to play in the treehouse. Simply lush.

    Aisling2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at The Pottery. We always enjoy the location - secluded, but close to the hills of Long Mynd - and the relative proximity to Church Stretton. Despite being up a rough track and adjacent to the hills there are good facilities, with phone data, TV and internet all available. There are full cooking facilities. Last year we did a roast Christmas dinner but this time had more modest meals. The place was kept toasty with a combination of central heating and a log burner. We would happily return again.

    Martin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quirky cottage in a beautiful setting. A great base for walking the Long Mynd and beyond

    Paul2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Pottery is a cosy comfortable cottage in a fabulous location. Great walks on the doorstep. Everything we needed. Loved it!

    Angela2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing setting with gorgeous views of the Shropshire hills! The dark skies made star-gazing possible and the log burner warmed us up afterwards! Very comfy bed, warm bathroom with heated towel-rail (bliss!) and well equipped kitchen with enough utensils to do home-cooking and entertain guests. So quiet we could only hear the birds and our wine being poured out......very relaxing break!

  • The Annexe is a beautiful space with absolutely everything you need for a cosy weekend away. It's an absolute bonus that the pub is next door, serving great value food (the best Sunday roast we've had in forever) and amazing ales, according to my husband! Mark and Rachel are lovely, accommodating hosts as is Hugo the dog! :)

  • Wonderful location x

    Paul2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely little annexe. We cannot fault anything about it. We felt totally at home, relaxed and snug. Rachel kindly made the bed up into a double for us rather than two singles. The cottage had everything and more to make the stay enjoyable. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and perfect for getting away from it all. We cannot recommend this little holiday home enough....fantastic value for money!

    amanda2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great few days staying in Picklescott. While the roads to and from the village are narrow they are quiet and Rachel's place is a great location to use as a base for exploring the area. Clean, quiet, comfortable and well-equipped. Biggest downside to the apartment was the light on the radiator at night. But a bit of micropore and a business card solved that. Can't be bad if that is the only fault we can find! :-)

    John2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous home in a very peaceful area! Fantastic hosts who went above and beyond for us. We’ll definitely be back in the future.

    Katie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful two night stay here. The home had everything we needed: fully equipped kitchen, decent shower, large comfortable sitting room with big tv and great selection of DVDs -- particularly nice was the bright and characterful bedroom with extremley comfortable bed. Area seemed excellent for walks and we enjoyed a wee jaunt on the stunning long mynd. Church stretton nearby has a nice selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Book with confidence!

Stone cottage in rural location, set in beautiful garden with stunning views over the Shropshire hills and Ludlow. Newly refurbished, self contained with large sitting room and open plan kitchen area. Private parking directly outside cottage, easy access, one dog or other pets welcomed. The cottage is an ideal place to get away from it all, with nothing to interrupt you except the birds and the weather!
Visitors have their own seating area within the garden, the property has modern central heating and there is a log burner. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is separate bathroom with bath and shower.
The cottage is situated up a farm track away from any town. It is ideal for walking and exploring Shropshire and local shops and pubs are a short car drive away. Nearby is Ludlow a beautiful market town, which was significant in the history of the Welsh Marches. It retains its traditional shops, restaurants and festivals making it worth visiting along with other Shropshire towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Clun and Bishops Castle. There are many excellent places to eat and walk, come and explore Shropshire for yourself!
  • Superb location up on the hills with stunning views over toward Ludlow. Everything you need for a comfy stay and plenty of room for a crate for our dogs. Everything you need to cook for yourself or sone cracking eateries roundabout (the chip shop in Craven Arms and Wildwood in Ludlow are highly recommended) Our labs loved their walk on Wenlock edge yesterday and Long Mynd today, we will be back.....

  • Middle Barn is a rare slice of heaven tucked away In the most beautiful spot. The views are simply stunning! Get ready for some amazing sunrises and sunsets, beautiful dark night skies full of stars 🌟 I heard cuckoos, saw owls, buzzards and a red kite. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with the most comfy double bed and a wood burner in the lounge completes the coziness. I can heartily recommend Middle Barn for anyone needing to recharge and unwind and although it’s set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, you’re only 3 miles from the nearest town with all the amenities you could wish for. I hated to leave - which I think says it all. A wonderful place with great hosts.

  • Suzanne's place is stylish, cute and cosy, perfect to stay after tackling some hills in Church Stretton. Its located approximately 5 min on foot from centre, really great location. Place itself is very clean, cozy and comfortable. Host covers all the basics, like towels, bathroom products, kitchen cutlery, tea coffee etc. Suzanne was really friendly and pleasant, such a delightful person. Overall, this place is a wonderful bargain to stay in beautiful Church Stretton, and we can't wait to be back.

  • Suzanne is a very friendly and welcoming host and her house is beautiful. The bedroom is spacious and warm and the addition of a sofa makes relaxing easy. The bathroom is very large and modern. There is a separate shower which is powerful and hot. The kitchen area includes a sink, a small fridge, a microwave, a kettle and tea & coffee. Suzanne is very house proud and everything is immaculately clean. We only spent one night there but will definitely return for a longer stay. Church Stretton is ideally located for long walks/hikes in the surrounding hills. Highly recommended.

  • One of the nicest AirBnBs we have stayed in - spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location in Church Stretton is lovely, it’s a great town with lots of nice places to eat and drink, and the accommodation is close to it all as well as to some great walks - we did the Long Mynd. Debbie left us some delicious homemade ginger cake and milk, which was very much appreciated. The apartment itself is spacious and well thought out - you have everything you need and it’s a home away from home!

    Abi2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly welcome from our hosts. The apartment was spotlessly clean, warm & comfortable with all the basic essentials provided (pint of milk, shower gel etc). The downstairs entrance hall with washer/dryer & hanging space was very handy after muddy hill-walks. Church Stretton itself is a lovely little village. A special mention for the Mountain Outlet shop who were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay despite the rain!

  • Lovely clean apartment within a few minutes walking distance of Church Stretton centre and 15 min drive to Shrewsbury park and ride. Very comfortable, well equipped, and with thoughtful touches like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hairdryer, and a welcome gift of milk and home-made cake! The hosts are lovely and very helpful if you are strangers to the area. A perfect base for exploring Shropshire.

  • This apartment is lovely and spacious, impecably clean and stylish. It's welcome to be given a little longer (10.30) than most before leaving on the last day. And the location was so great: a 5 minute walk to a fine Thai restaurant and under 10 minutes to the National Trust Longmynd area.

    Derek2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House was more spacious than we expected and was immaculately clean and well equipped. There were little extras to start us of such as milk, tea, coffee and sugar. We also enjoyed the pieces of home made cake! The views of the Shropshire hills from both the Lounge and bedroom windows were superb. It was a very comfortable place to stay. Thank you Debbie and Greg for the warm welcome.

Lovely warm room in the old part of the house with a phenomenal view across the South Shropshire hills. Very peaceful place, great to unwind. Use of the kitchen/diningroom which has an Aga for cooking needs. Great location if you're interested in cycling or walking as we're on the Jack Mytton Way. Only a short drive to Church Stretton, Much Wenlock, Ludlow, Bridgnorth & Shrewsbury. Easy access to the Ludlow fringe & fayres, Hay book festival, Vfest etc Sadly not suitable for children u12.
Lovely setting in an ANOB along a private drive, with SSSI flower meadows just up the lane. A lovely warm house, with a very friendly, exuberant dog who makes everyone very welcome! We're in the process of slowly renovating, so no builders dust etc but the decor is rather tired at the moment. The bed is very comfortable and clean tho! The drive is rather rough, again a work in progress atm.
The Shropshire Hills AONB, market towns full of good food, excellent local pubs, interesting places to visit - Acton Scott Working Farm Museum, Stokesay Castle, Attingham Park, to name but a few. If you want something a bit different then there is, the Knighton Observatory, Midland Gliding Club & Church Stretton Golf club both on the Long Mynd. A stones throw from Wales! Great wildlife viewing opportunities including Foxes, Fallow/Roe deer and Red Kites. Breakfast of cereal and toast is included in the price!

The Hayloft is situated in the grounds of the stunning Rushbury Manor an Elizabethan house in the heart of the South Shropshire Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Hayloft is an oak framed barn beautifully furnished and has views across Ape Dale towards the Long Mynd.
Relax and unwind under the hand crafted, traditionally build cruck oak frame and escape from it all or if you prefer cycling, country walks or more challenging hikes are all possible straight from the door. Take in the spectacular views of the Shropshire Hills from the secluded garden or venture out to try the abundance of local food and real ales or just walk the 1/2 mile to our local pub.
The location lends itself to exploring the local area by foot, bike or car; we have lived in the area for a long time and are happy to help you make the most of your stay. We can help you with walking routes, places to visit such as Ironbridge, local restaurants, places to cycle; off road or on quite country lanes. The South Shropshire hills are on the border between England and Wales, it is a perfect place for a quick retreat away from busy life. If you like history, food or outdoor activities the local area has got it in spades; the many castles and other fortifications (including one just over the road from the Hayloft) tell the tale of border conflicts. Shropshire was the birth place of Darwin, the modern Olympic games and the industrial revolution which has been carefully preserved at the Ironbridge museums, only a few miles away however it is almost as if it never happened. You are not far from great restaurants and places to go out, in particular Ludlow is renowned for its food and festivals and has two restaurants with Michelin stars.
  • The hayloft was airy, clean and homely. I stayed here while at a business conference in Telford 30 mins away. It had everything I needed. Many thanks to Simon and Kara for quick responses and for welcoming me into your lovely space.

    Nia2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Hayloft for three nights (18 -20 Oct 2019). We found the place easily on the edge of the village and our host, Simon, met us to show us around this self contained converted barn. The accommodation is stylish, warm, cosy and inviting and had all the amenities we could want for our short break. It was a pleasure to come back to each evening after our adventures around this delightful part of the Country. Plenty to see and do. Highly recommended stay.

  • Rachel responded to any queries before our visit and let us in to the property as soon as we pulled up. She made it very clear that she was on site all night and at any point we could make contact with her. The place is stylish and modern. Tastefully decorated with a very comfortable bed and spacious en-suite. Woke up next too some friendly sheep neighbours and lovely countryside views. Breakfast was presented and tasted lovely and delivered to the door at our requested time. An oldie worldie British village.

    Courtney2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Rachel and Dans place. Communication about arrival time was great and the space so warm and cosy. The local pub was perfect for a meal and few drinks with the log fire. There were lovely little touches within the room and Rachel shared local knowledge for walks within the area. Even during a very stormy night we didn't get woken up and the room stayed warm. An amazingly sized bathroom with a better shower than I have at home :) Breakfast was lovely, being delivered to the room at a time that suited us. All in all, a lovely village, a great place to stay and excellent hosts.

    Abbie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely tastefully furnished space. The bed is super comfy, the shower room is a really good size, lovely fluffy towels and a delicious breakfast. Rachel and her husband Dan were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

She and her husband were very friendly. The Royal Oak is literally a couple of minutes’ walk away and we had a lovely supper by the open fire. All in all, a great place to stay.

A comfortable modern house in one of the most beautiful areas of England.
The Burrow is a comfortable, modern terraced house in a fabulous area for walking and sight seeing. It has two bedrooms, a compact but well-fitted kitchen in which you can cook your own meals if you wish and a lovely, newly refurbished shower room. There's a space to sit and relax and eat meals. You'll also have access to a small private garden - and there's a bike shed if you really want to cycle uphill onto the Long Mynd.
This is one of the most beautiful areas in Shropshire. The Long Mynd is a delight for walkers, bird watchers, nature lovers...in fact, just everyone! You can take a stroll into Church Stretton where there are plenty of interesting, independent shops, a good selection of restaurants, pubs and tea rooms or travel out to the surrounding villages for a quiet pint in a country pub. The County town of Shrewsbury is just 30 minutes away by car and 15 minutes by train while Ludlow is a mere 20 minutes away. Both places are great for sight-seeing, shopping and eating. While you're here why not visit The Carding Mill Valley - there's an excellent National Trust tea shop and some truly spectacular scenery. Alternatively, if the weather is inclement, you can while away the afternoon in the fantastic Stretton Antiques Market, a rambling emporium of old, unwanted or frankly bizarre items! Just a fifteen minute drive away is the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms where you can Meet their Mammoth, enjoy their exhibition and explore the 30 acre meadow. Please bear in mind that The Burrow is not a quaint, quiet, quintessential cottage in the country. This is a small terraced house in a busy, friendly, diverse cul-de-sac where children play out in the street. At the rear of the property is the A49 which can provide a high level of noise, while at the front is the Welsh Borders railway line, producing the occasional whoosh of a train going through! You can, however, be sure to hear the ice cream van on a Sunday morning too and the double-glazed windows keep some of the road noise at bay.
  • Two night stay ... ( Could easily spend longer) Very comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. Super clean with excellent amenities. Short flat walk in to town and after a long walk in the hills .. it was just the ticket.

Ceri was very welcoming and communicative, making sure we had the home set up to our needs before our stay. The house was spotless and the little touches like bread and milk were much appreciated. • Me and my friends really loved Tom's cottage, an ideal space / size for a cozy weekend away with a partner of a few friends, we had some lovely evenings playing board games by the fire and cooking together. The cottage had everything that we needed, it's stylish, comfortable and is in a lovely area. We didn't had much opportunity to use the outside space due to bad weather but we had a lovely trip, enjoyed some short walk (due to the wind and rain), local pub visits and trips to nearby villages. The Bottle and Glass is a lovely pub, and the staff are very friendly. Tom was helpful through and we would love to stay again. A lovely pretty, quiet spot for relaxing few days in the countryside.

  • Gorgeous place in idyllic location! Beautifully fitted out and kept, perfect for a “get away from it all” holiday with all creature comforts! Everything works very well, even the brilliant rain-showers, what a treat ( no temperature variation, no sudden drop of water pressure) ! We stayed over Christmas, the place was warm and cosy. Very stylish and beautiful without being too precious, just right. Excellent wood burner, plenty of logs. Lovely little terrace and firebowl, nice gardens, we imagined it being superb in summer. The Shropshire Hills and especially the area around Nest are very beautiful, plenty to do and see. NT’s Carding Mill Valley is vey close and perfect for walk and tea/cake after.

This is a lovely open-plan upside-down house really close to the pretty town centre. We have great views of the Long Mynd, and other challenging hikes are close to the doorstep. The neighbours are friendly (my Dad Norm lives next door and my brother Mike is 3 doors down) and can show you both the best biking and hiking, and the nicest bars and restaurants. Upstairs is at road level with ample parking, lounge, kitchen and shower room, a bed and balcony, so is suitable for the less able.
We have storage areas for bikes and drying clothes. If you would like a walk leader that can be arrange. In fact just ask and we'll do our best to provide.
Church Stretton has a number of antique shops, cafes and cosy pubs. We are close to the train station (Cardiff to Manchester) and 12 miles from Medieval Shrewsbury. We have Walking Festivals, Music Festivals and Arts Festivals throughout the year.
  • Great host! Thank you for a lovely welcome. The home is well equipped and clean, with lovely finishing touches. Great location too!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Janet's place. Even in winter the garden and surroundings are beautiful and full of life - we really enjoyed watching the birds from the sofa while tucking into a delicious breakfast in our dressing gowns (also provided by Janet)! There are several pubs serving good food within a few minutes' drive and we went on a lovely walk from the house (the Wart Hill wander - well signposted once you get onto the route). Thank you, Janet :)

  • If you want peace and tranquility and love watching the sunrise this is a great find for a single person or a couple who don’t mind sharing a small space. You can place a yoga mat by the sliding door and practice inside or outside and imagine your in Bali!! Lovely touches like a fruit bowl, tea coffee cereals and home baked bread. Janet is very welcoming & quick with responses. I look forward to return. Close to Church Stretton Bishops Castle & Ludlow by car if you want to explore. Beautiful wood to walk in and just get some solace!

  • We only stayed one night but this is an excellent place for two. The view is outstanding. There was an excellent choice of things for breakfast. In the past we have paid almost the same amount to stay in a caravan or a camping pod.

    Stuart2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Janet's place is fantastic value, with extra touches you just don't get with AirBnBs. The rooms are spacious and clean, in a truely stunning setting. I found Janet to be a warm and welcoming host, quick to respond to any queries. The stay is connected to Janet's house but allows you to live independently and with complete privacy.

  • My stay with Jancis and Geoff was perfect. Janice is a very attentive host , I arrived late with muddy everything after a long days walking and left with clean boots and washed clothes without having to do them myself!. Janice's home is lovely and filled with interesting things. Everything needed was available. I would very much recommend a stay if you want to be looked after. Many thanks Trevor

  • Staying with Janice goes far beyond the typical Airbnb experience. Everything about my stay was perfect, with incredible kindness and generosity provided throughout. The house is lovely, everything was sparkling clean, the location is fabulous and quiet, and Janice is very knowledgeable about the local area. • We highly recommend staying with Jan and Jerry. We have stayed in lots of places and this has been -truly- our best airbnb experience to date. Thank you so much for the loveliest stay, wonderful cake, dinner when we thought we would be getting in late, local tips, saving me from unexpected snow with raincoat and gloves (very good call Jerry!), recipes, knife sharpening tour, game show and strictly come dancing re-introduction, Lola snuggles, and mostly the lovely conversations. Felt like coming home away from home. Such a treat. If we come back your way we know where to stay <3

    Amber2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean room and separate bathroom. So many thoughtful additions like umbrellas, torches, phone charging cables, home made biscuits, real coffee and decaf! Quiet location and lovely view from windows. Own patio. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes on the way down and probably a bit longer on the way up the quite steep hill, but it's a lovely walk. Church Stretton has some very good places to eat and it's a good central location, between Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

  • Lovely room just on the edge of Church Stretton. Had everything we needed. Lovely homemade biscuits and good selection of tea and coffee. Thank very much.

  • Staying at Janes and Mikes shows what AirBnB can be like! They were lovely hosts who always cared for our well-being. We stayed for four nights and felt very comfortable at their home sitting next to the fireplace or outside on the terrace. We highly recommend staying with them in this friendly town surrounded by hills and lots of easily accessible hiking paths.

Cosy 2 room annex set in ancient farm courtyard. Located within an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the Long Mynd a stretch of hills popular with walkers and nature lovers. Provides an ideal base to explore the local area.
The barn is a separate annex to our main property and is completely self contained. • Main bedroom - contains a large king size bed that can be split into two singles if required • Living room/second bedroom - a spacious room with an L shaped sofa bed that converts to a comfy double - plus a seperate regular sofa • Bathroom - a large roll top bath, and separate shower cubicle • Kitchenette - a galley style kitchen with basic essentials combi - oven/microwave, induction hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. • Tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk provided • TV , hi fi and internet
We are set in a hamlet which dates back to 1394. Ancestors of the original landowners still live in the village and take an active interest in the community. There are plenty of scenic walks around the area and the Long Mynd stretch of hills is within easy access. There is no shop or pub in our hamlet but the town of Craven Arms is only 2 miles away. It has a well stocked supermarket, post office, bakery and a few cafes and takeaway restaurants. The village of Wistanstow is only a couple of miles by road or a 20 min hike across the fields . It has its own brewery attached to the local pub The Plough and a village shop. The medieval town of Ludlow, is a mere 15 mins drive and has a regular market, lots of independent shops and restaurants. Ludlow is renowned for its locally sourced organic food and hosts two food festivals every year. Church Stretton is a pretty market town only 6 miles away and makes a great base for walking up to the summit of the Long Mynd.
  • Really stylish, very well appointed and comfy. Very clean, It’s easy to find, great location, and really friendly and helpful hosts who have thought of everything right down to the last detail. Would definitely stay again when in the area. 😀

  • Julia and George's place is a hidden gem tucked away in the Shropshire countryside! The directions to the annex were easy to follow and we had no troubles finding it. We were met by George who showed us around. The annex is immaculately clean, well equipped with everything you could need and incredibly cosy! All the beds were really comfortable, all had electric blankets which was a great touch. There was plenty of space for 3 of us and a dog, the utility room next door is a great space for cleaning muddy paws and boots. This is a great base for exploring Shropshire and we are already discussing a return trip! Thank you to Julia and George!

  • As soon as we arrived we felt at home. The cottage has everything you will need for a relaxing visit and was spotlessly clean. The children counted the cars that passed the house per day and never got over 7 ! Perfectly situated for exploring church Stretton, craven arms and Ludlow. The plough pub is a great asset too for food and drink and was very welcoming. We had a lovely 5 days over the new year and have returned relax and ready for 2020. We will defiantly be making a return visit soon, many thanks for sharing !

  • A very special country cottage; sparklingly clean, fully equipped with everything you need in the kitchen and so much more, as well as a comprehensive library of local walk books and guides. There were some lovely thoughtful touches like a welcome basket for our dogs as well as a festive Christmas tree for us. We had a wonderful family Christmas; enjoying country walks from the cottage, exploring the towns of Ludlow and Church Stretton, the local pub is only a 20 minute walk from the cottage and then relaxing in front of the wood burning stove in the comfy, cosy sitting room. The cottage is spacious, light and the beds are really comfy too. Kathy and family were such kind and attentive hosts, nothing was too much trouble and we would certainly recommend staying here and exploring this lovely part of the countryside.

  • The house is cosy and homely and very clean. The location is great for enjoying Shropshire. The garden was completely enclosed and good for our dog to run around in. Extra points for the doggie treats and sorting out the TV quickly.

  • I was lucky to find this cottage at the end of the summer as a base for visiting my family in south Shropshire. Felt immediately at home, from the check-in to the familiarity of a authentic Shropshire cottage. Plenty of space, with 3 big bedrooms and a nice light downstairs. Bonus of a separate locked area for bike storage. While the cottage is in a nice quiet village, it's easy to get to from the A49, with shops at Craven Arms and Church Stretton only minutes away. Even better, only 15 minutes cycle to the Long Mynd.

The location is very good- very short walk to the centre of Church Stretton (where everybody drives at 20 mph- it seems the natural way to behave). On the edge of town so great for walking and a few miles from Dorrington- exceptional Persian restaurant at the Old Hall.

A self contained en suite apartment on the ground floor of a three storey house built into the hillside in Carding Mill Valley on the Long Mynd - a range of hills owned by the National Trust, but only half a mile from the centre of Church Stretton.
There is one double bedded bedroom, a lounge with TV, a kitchen and a shower room/toilet. The corner unit settee lets down into a double bed if needed.
The property looks out on 6000 acres of hills (the Long Mynd) populated by sheep - and walkers! Google Willowbatch and see some photos.
  • We had a great stay in Church Stretton. Lucky with the weather and the snow on the last day made everything look very picturesque! We walked up the valley and also down to the Charter Market in Town. The accommodation was cosy and warm, with a massive very comfy bed and the drying room was a bonus. It was lovely to watch the birds feeding whilst we ate our breakfast. Definitely an Airbnb that we’d love to visit again 😀

  • What a lovely home from home. A well equipped and very comfortable place to stay. Walkers and cyclists will be thrilled by this location with its immediate access to trails from the front door. Church Stretton has all the local amenities you'll need for a pleasant and well fed stay including local butchers, a delicious looking Deli, a Co-op and a good number of cafes and pubs/restaurants. You'll need to replace all the calories you'll burn walking and cycling after all!

This is a very secluded cottage away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is up a private lane with only one other house near. I have been on Airbnb for a couple of years with my single room but, as I'm now away a lot, I thought I'd also offer the whole house when I am not there, as I find it so peaceful and relaxing. Sitting outside all you can hear is birdsong and the occasional tractor
The cottage is wonderfully quiet - I rarely hear any traffic. It's an ideal holiday home for those wanting to explore the Shropshire Hills, or just have some peace. It comprises of one double bedroom, one single bedroom, downstairs bathroom (bath, toilet and basin), upstairs bathroom (shower, toilet and basin), living room, dining room, study, kitchen, utility room, very large garden and secluded patio.
The nearest shops (Church Stretton) are 7 miles away, so a car is pretty essential up here. Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth are about 30 minutes away, with gorgeous independent coffee shops and restaurants.
  • A perfect cottage for a quiet weekend away to rest, relax and enjoy the countryside. Beautiful location for walking and only a 15 minute drive to the town of Ludlow, where we enjoyed an afternoon browsing the shops and having a coffee. The cottage was homely, had absolutely everything we needed and we would definitely come again.

    Rosie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We would stay again at Peter's place because of its wonderful rural location, in which we saw bats, a fox and other wildlife. Fantastic views! The accommodation suited our group and we were very grateful for Peter's willingness to accommodate our son at no extra cost, even making up a bed in the study for him. The private road to the house was just about OK (in December), but we were a bit worried about the underneath of the cars at times, although we drove very carefully. As it was Christmas we brought all our supplies and we found all the equipment we needed in the kitchen. The house was warm and welcoming, though the wifi and phone signals were as you might expect in such a remote spot - a bit weak. We walked in the Carding Mill Valley, a popular spot, and had lunch in Church Stretton. It's an area we would like to explore further. Peter is a very helpful and considerate host and we would recommend his property. The check in and out times are great if you want a relaxed departure.

    Nigel2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with fantastic views and good walks near by. The cottage had everything we needed. Peter was very helpful and quick to respond to messages. Really enjoyed our stay here!

    Ben2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a home from home. Quiet! Peter's house is down a bridleway off a quiet country road so no traffic at all - a couple of walkers now and again perhaps. Its a lovely place to stay, everything that you could need is there, even the fridge had milk, eggs, butter, cheeses, yoghurt and other things, a light meal when arriving didn't require shopping before hand. There was bread, tea, coffee and sugar too. I can highly recommend anyone to stay here, big TV, perfect freeview reception, good internet speed despite the location (I was surprised, I'm used to fibre and it isn't fibre speed but totally adequate). Peter's place is a country cottage, don't know how old, it has its quirks but that's all part of its charm, I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.

    Tony2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Smack bang in the middle of the country side, really couldn't get any closer to nature if you tried! The host was lovely, will definitely stay again soon
