Stable End is built to a very high standard , double glazing and quality furnishings. It is both cosy and comfortable and quiet while being light and airy and allows easy access to local village and other attractions.
Stable End is situated in a beautiful quiet village on the edge of Salisbury Plain, nestled in hedgerows and fields. It has perfect getaway quality while being close to the towns of Devizes and Marlborough and main area attractions such as Stonehenge and Avebury.

  • This cottage is in a wonderful location. Walking from the door with our dogs is the most important part of our holiday. The cottage is compact but plenty of room for two with everything we needed. Comfortable beds and a good shower. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.

  • Would absolutely recommend Carolyn and Steve’s place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area! House was spotlessly clean and I was made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Had a great nights sleep and would definitely stay again. Croissants were a lovely touch, thanks a lot!

What's great here is we're on Salisbury Plains so if you intend to enjoy a weekend walking, biking, off roading or picnicking this is the perfect location. We can securely store bikes or motorbikes. We have a large social garden with bbq and tree lined views. We're walking distance to the village pub and have a double rosette restaurant and microbrewery 5mins drive/30mins walk away (three daggers). We're 20mins drive from Stonehenge, 10mins drive from Westbury which has a mainline station.
We're in a village location, the kitchen diner is large and newly installed, plenty of parking. We also have an on site yoga studio from which yoga lessons are given to the public so you can take advantage of these if you wish. We also have a jacuzzi-bath in the guest bathroom...always fun and relaxing after a days site seeing or working.
  • Anthony and Claire are two great hosts. The room and bathroom are clean and wonderfully decorated. We felt very comfortable and can only recommend a stay :)

    Vivian2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless room in a very nice home!!! Didn't meet Anthony, but his wife Clare is very welcoming and friendly. Nice jacuzzi in private bathroom where you can relax after your day. Very comfy bed and quiet location. Highly recommended.

    Alejandro2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stop over. Really welcoming and friendly. Large home - amazing bath/shower etc. Two Fabulous, large well behaved quiet dogs. We will defiantly stop by again. Great pubs & restaurant really close too.

  • Large & lovely home; gracious hospitality; large friendly, quiet dogs; quiet neighborhood, very handy to Westbury

    S2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here so much! The house itself is spacious, beautiful and clean. Our room was very nice, the bed was super comfy and we had a great bathroom (with jacuzzi!). We loved the surroundings and the village itself as well. The Bell Inn pub was only a 5 minute walk and we enjoyed our dinner in a real English pub. Anthony and Clare are super friendly and nice. We wanted to go to London and didn't know where to park the car, so they helped us by picking out a spot outside London with a car park and showed us how to get the train to London. We will for sure come back to stay a little bit longer :)next time!! And we miss the dogs already :)

    Kimberly2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • I was happy to stay in the place where everything is thought about and we could have a nice rest after all day of sightseeing. Anthony and Clare are taken great care that our rest were nice.

    Vaidotas2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • So nice and lovely place and hosts! Clare and Anthony had special intentions to me by helping to find the place, share a place in the garage for the motorcycle and give advices for the places to visit! You can't wait for a best place ! Between Bath and Stonehenge, the country side is beautiful, the house is awesome: beautiful, clean, warm, with all equipments and well situated. I have appreciated talking with the hosts, I recommend this place and I will recommend it when I'll be back in France. Thanks for all.

Castle Grounds House is a family home quietly located down a private lane, overlooking the Castle Grounds and within a minute's walk of the Market Place. This is a spacious double room with en suite bathroom with handheld shower, Wifi, tv and Tea/coffee facilities and trouser press.
A large, King Sized bed with proper feather pillows, and crisp cotton bedlinen await you. The room has an en suite bathroom with a bath and hand held shower. With an eclectic mix of furniture the room is a good size and very comfortable - we have tried to provide all the bits and pieces you may require for your stay including a hair dryer and an assortment of basic toiletries. Despite being a stone's throw from the Market Place, we are located on the escarpment overlooking the valley to the south and so you can expect a peaceful night with only the birdsong to disturb you in the morning.
Our home is a minute's walk from Devizes Market Place, and yet it is tucked away from the bustle of the High Street at the end of a quiet lane overlooking the Castle Grounds. There are many and varied restaurants and pubs within walking distance, as well as a cinema. There are good bus connections to train stations as well as to local attractions such as Avebury, Stone Henge, Marlborough, Bath etc.
  • Really lovely house, great location being such a short stroll to the market place but also quiet at night for sleeping, and very comfortable. Anna-Lisa is really friendly and welcoming, as is her adorable puppy. Good selection for breakfast, and insightful conversation about the area. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Devizes.

  • The Wee Croft is small but perfectly formed. We had everything we needed for a NYE and Birthday trip away. The furnishings are modern country cottage style. The accommodation was clean and in a great location to walk into town/the canal tow path for walks. Devizes is a friendly town, relaxed on NYE with free entry to many venues and with so many pubs to choose from, you won’t have to queue to get in or at the bar! Great time had by all. Will recommend to family and friends. Thank you for having us Katie and Neil.

  • Lovely barn conversion right next to walks by the canal and a short walk from nearby pubs and restaurants. Comfy bed and a very well equipped kitchen, we could have easily stayed a week!

Detached small cottage with its own entrance, parking and outside sitting area. Outside Easterton village up on the hill with spectacular views of Salisbury Plain, stunning sunsets, no light pollution and quiet at night. Close to many interesting sites. The cottage is one good-sized room, with central heating, shower/toilet, kitchen area and storage cupboard. Please note we have had difficulties with visitors bringing dogs. If you want to bring a dog please contact us before booking.
The cottage offers one double bed, two comfy chairs, dining table with chairs, shower/toilet, wardrobe & storage cupboard, and kitchen. The kitchen includes gas hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer and all necessary cutlery, china and utensils. The outside area is gravel with various plant containers with annual and perennial flowers and herbs, seating and table for al fresco meals. There is also a chiminea and barbecue. The property is 3.5 acres of organic pastureland where we are developing a small wood, a permaculture forest garden, submerged greenhouse for growing fruit and winter vegetables, in addition to a kitchen garden. We also have a flower meadow and paddock where we have goats arriving in the Spring, and hopefully some sheep. We have chickens (fresh free-range organic eggs usually available) and bees (maybe some honey for sale), and cats and a couple of dogs who visit every day. It is a rural area with many wonderful walks in the nearby.
The Salisbury Plain area is quite spectacular, with over 2000 tumulae, Stonehenge and Durrington Walls neolithic site, and Avebury nearby. The Kennet & Avon canal runs through the Vale of Pewsey close by. Devizes has many coffee shops and other shops, Sainsburys, Morrisons and Lidl supermarkets, an outdoor market on Thursdays, and a Farmers Market on the first Saturday of every month. There is also a lovely farm shop close by. We are 20 minutes drive from Devizes and Pewsey, where there is a mainline railway station to London and the South West, and 30 minutes from Westbury for trains to Bristol, Bath and the South West. Bristol is about an hour's drive, and the historic Regency city of Bath is about 45 minutes away. Devizes is an old market town, with reputably the larges market place in the West Country. Today it is a busy local centre for shopping with a monthly Farmers' Market (first Saturday of every month), The Shambles, a historic indoor market, and several antique shops. There is a Medieval Walk around the town, showing some very old buildings. The Kennet & Avon canal runs through the Vale of Pewsey and Devizes town centre, with the famous Caen Hill flight of locks: 29 locks with a rise of 237 feet in 2 miles (72 m in 3.2 km), a 1 in 44 gradient. Avebury is about half an hour's drive on the way to Swindon, and Stonehenge is about 20 minutes south on the way to Salisbury. You need to book well ahead for Stonehenge. There is a friendly pub with good food at the bottom of the hill, The Old Oak, and a Co-op mini-supermarket in the next village, Market Lavington, (about 15 minutes walk).
  • I booked Tack Cottage for a little rest and relaxation over the Christmas period and enjoyed my stay immensely. I was warmly welcomed by Vivian when I arrived who explained in detail about Cottage, the grounds and the local area. The Cottage was clean, tidy and well presented. A lovely feature was the newly installed log burner which provided additional warmth during the evenings (although the gas central heating was more than adequate). The local pub (The Royal Oak) was only a short walk from the cottage and I highly recommend the food (especially the Sunday Dinner). The pub also welcomed dogs. The Cottage was also ideal for my dog, plenty of walks in the area with stunning scenery of the Salisbury Plains. I highly recommend Tack Cottage to anyone who likes good walks, rest and relaxation.

  • A lovely place to stay and Vivian and Sarah were great. Very comfortable, peaceful and with everything you could possibly need. It's the most beautiful area. I was there for 2 weeks and wished I could have stayed longer. I would certainly love to go back.

  • Adorable cottage in beautiful grounds. Everything you needed for a short or longer term stay. The resident dogs were great with my puppy. Vivian was more than helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Her local knowledge was fantastic, we had to cut the holiday short due to our puppy falling poorly but even then Vivian recommended a great vets! Would definitely definitely stay again and we plan too!

  • Vivian's cottage is newly built with all the comforts of home. A well equipped kitchen, great shower with plentiful hot water, cosy furniture, good heating, and a wonderful view of the sunset and stars at night. The village nearby has good places to eat and a lively pub. We also loved Vivian's cats and the two dogs that visited daily <3 We had a wonderful stay. Thank you Vivian!

  • Upon arrival at Tack cottage we were given a very warm welcome from Vivian, the owner. We were also given half a dozen eggs and a tour around the accommodation. Tack cottage has everything you would need for a short or long stay. We stayed for a week and found everything to be perfectly functional and comfortable. Thank you Vivian and Sarah for your warm hospitality, we will be back very soon.

A private and charming simple one bedroom flat over garage set in very rural area surrounded by farm land. The place is completely separate from the house set at the back of the property in a large garden. It has a modern kitchen and bathroom with everything needed for a comfortable stay. A perfect setting for country walks and exploring the mysteries of Wiltshire - Salisbury plains next door: Stonehenge, Salisbury and Avebury a short drive away or journey in local buses
Quiet, clean, private and beside natural beauty of Wiltshire It is a charming space, with a well equiped kitchen for some basic cooking, a huge corner bath and shower... there is a TV with all the basic channels, and free wifi There is a double bed and basic sofa bed, that can be made up into a bed - not the most comfortable however. If this is required I will need to charge an extra £10 for cleaning etc - to pay on arrival. At the moment the kitchen is empty of food or condiments so you need to provide all you will need for your stay.
Very friendly, with a great coop; butchers, pharmacy and post office. Also able to find fresh eggs and home grown veg - a fun place to be Very close to characterful Market Town, Devizes with it’s famous canal walks and Locks and neighbouring beautiful old villages eg Urchfont with its famous scarecrow festival and many typical old English village pubs, walks, woods etc Magical Avebury, Silbury Hill, West Kennet and The Ridgeway are all near by; there’s the National Trust Lacock Village with the Abbey (location for Harry Potter) and fantastic cream teas; the famous Wiltshire Whitehorses and seasonal crop circles to see; and Salisbury plains and the beautiful city of Salisbury not too far.

  • The 'Cosy flat' is a lovely little retreat in rural Wiltshire for anyone who wants to 'switch off' for a few days. It is also a great base for day trips to Bath, Stonehenge, Longleat Safari Park, Frome and even the coast. Lots of beautiful villages with cafes and pubs as well as hikes in the countryside nearby.

Nestled in the back garden of our 15th Century Cottage in a rural village, at the end of a no-through road, guests are assured of a peaceful and quiet stay. Yet with Devizes just 3 miles away, you are close enough to enjoy the bustle of this Market Town and its many interesting Coffee Shops, Restaurants and Pubs. We are situated on the edge of the Pewsey Vale and within easy access of Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge and Marlborough.
The Annex has a king size bed, an en suite shower and toilet, a small fridge, a microwave and tea and coffee facilities. Milk will be in the fridge as well as some homemade biscuits and bananas. As there is no separate kitchen and dish washing facilities are limited to the hand basin in the bathroom, we suggest that any crockery and cutlery used (especially if you are here for a few days) is left on the table outside. I will run it through my dishwasher and return it to you by the evening.
Etchilhampton is a small rural village. There is a Community Shop and a Pub in All Cannings which is two miles away. Devizes which is a Market Town is three miles away.
  • A lovely place, cosy and clean and well equipped. A place where you feel at ease. Many details reflect her diligent eye for detail (come and discover!). A very unique view at garden and parc! Oh, that countryside.

A lovely home in a quiet Wiltshire village set in beautiful English countryside. With a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and and spacious bedroom, it offers the ideal base for a short (or long) break in the South West. World Heritage site, Stonehenge, is just 22 minutes away and many other tourist attractions are within an hour's drive. Great for cyclists and walkers as well as holidaymakers. Supermarket 3 minutes away, as well as 2 takeaways, and 2 pubs with restaurants.
On arrival guests will find a welcome pack of breakfast essentials, along with tea, coffee, milk etc. For further supplies the local Co-op is just 3 minutes away. Although the home is well equipped for self-catering, for those who prefer to let others do the cooking, the beautiful 17-century thatched village pub is 250 metres away and offers first class lunches and dinners and, of course, a selection of great beers. Easterton is set in some of Wiltshire's finest scenery and offers many great walks in the surrounding countryside. The famous Wessex Ridgeway runs past, just a few hundred metres from the house with fantastic views stretching to the hills beyond Bath and, of course, the nearby Salisbury Plain. Wiltshire is famous for its 'white horses' carved into the chalk hills, visible from many places around Easterton. And, of course, it is a magnet for travellers interested in prehistoric structures, from stone circles to long barrows and hill forts. Features: Brand new shower room Utility room Fully-equipped kitchen Lounge/dining room Pretty, secluded garden Large bedroom with king-size bed A single bed or toddler bed can be placed in the bedroom along with the king-size double, on request Private parking on-site Secure storage for multiple cycles TV Cooker with hob and oven Microwave Fridge Washing machine Outdoor seating Sleeps 2-4 people WiFi

  • Our stay was ideally with Tracy and Peter. We were very well received by Peter and the accommodation was very well appointed, very very clean with everything you need in the kitchen to accompany our dishes and breakfasts

    Ludovic2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Returning from a holiday in Cornwall and headed to London we stayed for one night with Tracy and Peter but we had a great time. The house is cozy, well furnished, spotless and complete with all services. The private garden is perfect for having breakfast in the morning or relaxing and admiring the starry sky in the evening. Tracy and Peter are very nice, helpful, showed us around the house and provided a lot of useful information to make our stay pleasant. In addition to the need for breakfast, they also offered us a piece of cake that had just come out of the oven (really delicious, thanks Tracy!). Peter also sported a good Italian because the couple spent some time in Tuscany. We hope to have another chance in the future to stay longer. Absolutely recommended!

  • We just spent a wonderful weeks holiday in this accommodation. A lovely boiled cake and breakfast pack was there when we arrived. House is lovely with beautiful views and lovely walks. Excellent location for travelling about . Nothing was any problem for Tracey and we hope to be back . Thanks again.

    Wendy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Tracey's home was a nice experience. Tracy is a very welcoming host. We were surprised with a nice extra friendly touch when she baked for us a yummy cake. The communications and finding her place was went very easy. Her place is very strategic to most of the tourists attractions around the area. The house was very clean when we entered and the amenities were just right which we needed for our stay. I will surely recommend her place to firends and family.

  • Highly recommended. Jonathan and Anna are exceptional hosts and the converted barn is a wonderful place to stay. The directions are clear and accurate and the house and barn are really lovely with easy parking. The whole experience was extremely professional, the furnishings are modern and clean, and the converted barn is light and airy. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels are like a hotel. The wifi had a strong signal and the bathroom was modern and clean with nice soap. The breakfast was lovely with a homemade touch and the kitchenette is well equipped. There is a nice pub within walking distance located within the village. Jonathan and Anna were very good and quick communicators and they have considered every detail to make a comfortable stay. Thank you.

  • What an amazing place with some lovely welcoming touches! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to others. We've stayed in some not-so-comfy places in the past and delighted to say this wasn't one of them - the beds were super comfortable and the place was lovely and warm.

  • My wife, our son and I booked to go to Longleat for the festival of light. We came across Gills place which is 30-40 minutes drive. Stonehenge is very close too. It’s in a lovely location in a small village, pub within walking distance and lots of walks in the area. The cottage is wonderful, so warm and a cozy place. It’s got everything you need, kitchen well equipped and a lovely touch having fresh bread, butter and jam. There’s a DVD player and DVDs which was great having films for our son to watch. He also loved hiding in the huge wardrobes. The beds are very comfortable and the showers great - the place is actually a lot bigger than we expected from the photos. It’s got loads of space for parking and is at the back of the owners house down a long driveway. Behind the cottage is lots of land which we were free to walk around. We would jump at the chance to stay here again, it’s great value and a really lovely place - Gill has done a fantastic job with the place and hasn’t missed any detail.

  • Great spot in stunning Bishop's Cannings, right by the church- which was perfect as I was attending a wedding there. The room and private bathroom were equipped with everything you could possibly need. Much nicer than the photos in my opinion and I had a lovely night's sleep in the double bed. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area for work or pleasure.

Lots of local knowledge if you want it and information in the room.Private parking space and own bathroom ,cozy room with tea and coffee facilities. Spotlessly clean. John and Avril and Hector the dog were wonderful hosts and will definitely return when next in the area.

  • This was a perfect one night stay for us. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we could need. John was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

  • John and Avril’s place is marvellous for a stay anywhere near the historic tourists spots be it Stonehenge or Bath or Avebury etc. The house is idyllic and is accessible by public transport. The listing is wonderful and could accommodate upto 3 adults and a kid at ease. We were 3 adults who fit in comfortably. The listing is much more spacious than the actual pics which is quite a rare thing. The beds were tidy, comfortable and the room was stocked with books, toys etc. The toilet was spotlessly clean and stocked up with all the amenities. Furthermore the bathroom/ toilet was right beside the room and due to thoughtful sound proofing, the noises doesn’t get transmitted. The house in itself was very clean. The hosts were kind enough to leave us some chocolates and other coffee/ tea making amenities. More than anything, John and Avril were wonderful humans who were kind and ensured our comfort throughout the stay. They also helped us with local tips and it was our pleasure to get to know them. Their pet is absolutely lovely and one of the most well mannered one. I would totally recommend their listing for any type of stay - couples, friends or family.

Little Lodge @ Littleton Lodge is close to Devizes, Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge, Avebury, Melksham, Chippenham. You’ll love Little Lodge because of its contemporary design, super comfortable four poster bed, luxurious marble bathroom, cosy living space, fully equipped kitchen and secluded private garden. It is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets).
We converted Little Lodge from two old stable blocks in 2016. It is beautifully appointed with a gorgeous four poster bed, marble bathroom and an open plan living room/kitchen with all the mod cons you need for a short or longer stay. It has its own private garden and a really cosy feel to it - perfect for a weekend away or a longer stay to really explore the beautiful county of Wiltshire. It's also great for anyone working locally that wants a comfortable bolthole during the week.
We’re in the village of Littleton Panell, close to Dauntsey’s school in West Lavington, surrounded by English countryside with Stonehenge and Salisbury Plain within easy reach. Durrington Walls, Castle Combe, Lacock Abbey, Longleat and numerous National Trust and English Heritage sites are right on the doorstep. And the southern edge of the Cotswolds is just a short drive away. There is a pub in the village about 5 minutes walk from Littleton Lodge and a convenience store in the village for basic supplies also. Devizes is about 10 minutes by car from Littleton Lodge and there you will find a variety of pubs and restaurants, many of which we can recommend. There are also three supermarkets - Marks & Spencer Simply Food, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s.

  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay ! Fiona was very welcoming and offered us an homemade loaf of bread! The place was extremely clean and cosy !

  • We had a great stay! The communication was great and was given simple and detailed directions. The welcome pack / breakfast - included local fresh bread, a lovely touch that created a memory. Comfortable bed and accommodation. Super cosy! Beautifully thought out ... We received a warm welcome and were given so much privacy, which we appreciated. Our dog was welcome, which we very much appreciated. I would highly recommend. Thank you so much!

  • Very convenient base for visiting Stonehenge and also Avebury and Old Sarum near Salisbury. Easy check-in and friendly helpful hosts. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, just take care not to bump head on sloping ceilings and take quick showers. For people with mobility issues the steep access stairs would not be suitable. A lovely breakfast hamper was provided with homemade bread which was a lovely thoughtful touch. No TV signal but a good selection of DVDs to relax with on a winter evening. We ate one night at The Boot Inn in Bewick St James about 10 minutes away, the food was good and fairly priced. The pub was very quiet on the evening we ate there but that might have been due to the imminent arrival of storm Ciara. Would stay again if visiting the area.

  • Lovely, clean and well laid out accommodation for our weekend visit to Stonehenge ( only a few minutes drive away) and Salisbury. The communication with Fiona was great and she provided clear instruction on how to get to the house and check in which made it very easy. We appreciated the extra touches of homemade fresh bread and the offer for a late check out for a Sunday lie in. Would highly recommend!

  • Very clean and nicely decorated accommodation. Lovely to have fresh bread and a bit of breakfast provided for the morning. Also easy parking. Second person had a slightly cold shower but otherwise all was good.

Stable Cottage is a cosy and comfortable detached thatched cottage, alongside a small brook and overlooking gardens and fields. The village has a traditional pub and local shop/post office within walking distance. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It is near the small market town of Devizes which has been described as a 'mini Bath' with its regular weekly market and good selection of independent shops and places to eat. Near Stonehenge, Avebury, Longleat, Bath.
You can enjoy staying in a traditional English thatched cottage - don't forget to look for the old hay loft door outside. The cottage has access directly onto the garden. A table and chairs are available to sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet and the view over the stream and fields. A king fisher has sometimes been spotted by the stream!
The cottage is set in a English country lane but away from the road. The area is quiet and peaceful and the locals are friendly.
  • Great cosy place, in a very nice village. Highly recommended.

  • We stayed at The Stable Cottage for 5 nights while we played at a music festival at Cleeve House. The cottage was a wonderfully peaceful counterpoint to the buzz of the festival and just what we needed to relax afterwards. It is so cosy with everything you could possibly need. We particularly enjoyed the gardens it is set in, listening to the birds and the wee burn outside. Potterne is a very interesting village and it's very easy to get around the Devizes / Melksham area from there.

Gertine was so easy to communicate with before the visit and left some lovely little Valentines touches (chocolates and love hearts) as we arrived on the evening of Feb 13th! There were 2 hot water bottles and a dressing gown each too making it extra homely and a lovely place to stay.

We really hit the jackpot with Annabelle who was super helpful and communicative and made sure that the cottage would be well-equipped for our baby. Our older two children absolutely loved it too. Very comfortable beds and great kitchen facilities! We hope to be back soon.

A large double room, light and airy and very close to Kennet and Avon canal. It has a modern en-suite shower room with sink and toilet. Crisp cotton sheets. USB charging points. A help yourself continental breakfast is included. Perfect for the canal and a 15 min walk to centre of town. We have lived in the area for many years and have information on local walks, pubs, places: Bath, Salisbury, Avebury, Stonehenge and Lacock. Devizes is a lovely market town with much to see. Great for couples.
Best for one or two people, although we could accommodate one other person on the sofabed in the lounge downstairs. There is a toilet and sink downstairs too.
We live right at the top of the famous flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon canal. Stunning views, wonderful walks and wildlife right on the doorstep. A 15 minute walk along the towpath and you are in Devizes, a charming market town with two independent breweries, many lovely cafes, pubs and places to eat. There is a cinema here, as well as regular music events, and various arts festivals.
  • Hilary's place was ideal for our weekend away especially with the canal so close. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, providing everything you needed in the room and their kitchen. We liked the booklet of walks, places to eat and local info - would definitely recommend.

    Valerie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary's place : Great accommodation, large bedroom and bed, very nice ensuite bathroom. Used the kitchen for a meal and dining table for meals. I found Hilary and her partner very friendly and, accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

    Saladin2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary’s place is so well located, just steps from the canal which was perfect for our short walking holiday! The room is comfortable and clean with lovely toiletries in the en-suite and soft fluffy towels. A kettle and tea in the bedroom was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and we found the whole stay very enjoyable.

    Kate2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one night stay at Hilary's place. The room with en-suite was very cozy, warm and spotless. There were plenty of free-parking space in the street although Hilary kindly parked her car in front of the house to save us a spot in case there would be too many cars and no more space available. She was also communicative and available before and during our stay and she provided all the useful information to get to her place. We felt very welcome into her home. And she also kindly offered us some breakfast options that met our diets which we thought was very thoughtful of her. Finally the location is great, we didn't know Devizes and the locks that are literally out of the front door. This was really an interesting sight and walk. Highly recommended place to stay.

You can stay in one of Devizes oldest and most prestigious properties. We live in the east wing which was once a large Manor House belonging to a local snuff factory owner, with its own deer park. It is now the town park with children’s play area, free tennis court, cafe and Haha The spacious room with a high ceiling and marble fireplace, has recently been fully redecorated with new private en suite. It has far reaching views over the town with Oliver’s castle and Roundway hill in the distance.
There is parking at the front of the house on a private gravel driveway. We have put in a single day bed with trundle bed underneath which make it suitable for a family of 4. We do not charge anything extra but do have a minimum 2 night stay for more than 2 people.
Devizes is one of Wiltshire’s best market towns, famous for the Caen hill flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon canal, Wadworth Brewery with its own drey horses delivering the local ale. An excellent food and clothes market every Thursday. The Devizes museum is a 3 minute walk which always gets excellent reviews for its ever changing exhibitions. Well situated for Stonehenge, Bath and Salisbury, all about a 30 minute drive. Local buses also leave from the market place to many other destinations.
  • Lovely people, lovely accommodation. The room is big and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful. The place is very close to town and they recommended an excellent pub for dinner. Highly recommended. Thanks again, we loved it.

  • We stayed two nights at Steve's and Judy's place and we loved every minute of it! There's a lovely park at the back of the house with a nice playground, my kids just loved it! The place is very well located, walking distances to pubs, supermarkets, bus stops. We visited Stonehenge (20 minutes drive) and Bath (40 minutes drive) and Salisbury. Our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful with top tips on places to visit, parking and places to eat. We took part in a confetti battle that was happening at the time of our stay in Devizes( highlight of our weekend). The room has a lovely character and quite spacious, beds were comfortable. We had a lovely breakfast provided by our hosts. We loved staying here and I can't recomend it enough! Very good value for your money. We look forward to come back again soon :-) .

They gave a lovely home and the guest room is very comfortable with high ceilings, plenty of natural light, a generous breakfast spread including cereals, bread for toasting, yoghurt, milk, juice and fresh fruit plus tea and coffee. There is a large park with playground literally behind the house that my almost 4 year old son loved playing at. Also only a 5 minute walk into the cute township of Devizes.

Enjoy the tranquility of this charming country retreat on the outskirts of Rowde. Set in its own little orchard, this self contained annex is just a stone’s throw away from the Kennet and Avon Canal and within easy reach of the pretty market town of Devizes. Lovingly converted in 2019, the Orchard Retreat offers high standard living accommodation for up to 4 people with all mod cons and a warm, welcoming feel – not least thanks to its beautiful décor and cosy underfloor heating throughout.
The Orchard Retreat has a cosy double bedroom with a comfortable double bed which boasts a pocket sprung mattress topped with memory foam – giving amazing levels of support and comfort. The sofa in the sitting room can easily be converted into a comfy double bed – thus giving the option of accommodating two further guests. The open plan kitchen & living room is a beautiful, airy, bright space with natural light streaming in by day through the fully glazed contemporary French style sliding patio doors which look out onto the patio and orchard and the two velux windows in the roof can be remotely controlled to allow just the right amount of fresh air into the room. The generously sized fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar is well equipped and offers everything you may want for a self catering holiday: high quality Neff gas hob and oven with extraction unit over, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee maker complete with starter pods, kettle and toaster – and the breakfast bar can double as a laptop friendly workspace. The living room area seats 4 people and whether you just fancy looking out onto the orchard, relaxing over a glass of wine, reading a book or you like to switch off watching TV (a smart tv) or surfing the web on our free, unrestricted Wifi, you can be sure that nothing but possibly a few cheeky squirrels or some deer looking for the orchard fruit will disturb your peace. On sunny days you can sit outside on the patio or under the trees in the orchard where you may find our free range hens rooting around. Beyond the orchard, through an opening in the hedge, you can see a paddock where our horse can often be found grazing - fenced in by an electric tape fence. A fully tiled, spacious, modern wetroom with power shower, low level WC and heated towel rail completes the Orchard Retreat perfectly and, of course, you will find soap, shampoo, nice soft towels and a hairdryer at your disposal to make your entire stay as enjoyable, easy and comfortable as possible. The Orchard Retreat has its own private entrance and 2 private parking spaces (more can be arranged on request).
This location offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful countryside setting with lots of great walks and cycling routes at its doorstep, starting with the world-famous Caen Hill Locks of the Kennet and Avon Canal just a minute’s walk away (which is also a much visited spot by fishermen) and it is also within direct reach of great road links to visit and explore the great historic and prehistoric sites, National Trust villages and famous towns and cities of the area. There is nearby Lacock with its famous Abbey where some of the iconic Harry Potter scenes were filmed, Bowood House and Gardens, Avebury and Marlborough. Furthermore, there is Stonehenge, located on Salisbury Plain, about 16 miles south of Devizes and a further 8 miles south of Stonehenge is the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury. The Roman city of Bath, Longleat, Stourhead and the Cotswold Water Park are also not further than a 40 to 50 minute car journey away. As Wiltshire is famous for its White Horses carved into the chalkstone hills, why not visit the nearby Pewsey or Westbury White Horse – or for that matter – make it your mission to see them all during your stay! As we are situated just outside the village of Rowde you can walk to our award winning local village pub, the George and Dragon, via a pretty footpath which partly leads through the picturesque Caen Hill Diamond Jubilee Wood which borders the Caen Hill Locks. It is only a 10 to 15 minute stroll into the village. The Rowdey Cow, a farm café and ice cream parlour set in the middle of farm land overlooking beautiful countryside, can also be reached within 20 minutes on foot via the Jubilee Wood walk and along the edge of fields (or via the main road if preferred). It serves delicious breakfast, lunch and lots of home made cakes as well as home made Italian ice cream. Devizes and the surrounding local villages offer more places to eat. Just ask us for recommendations!

  • We really enjoyed our month stay at orchard retreat while we looked for houses and jobs in the area. The place itself is a very comfortable, modern space. Well equipped with modern facilities to self cater. The underfloor heating was a luxury. Everything was very clean, thoughtfully furnished and the hosts caring and attentive. The place is set in a very quiet area behind the main house. It is well located, being walkable distance to the village centre and the town of Devizes. If I didn't now live in the area I would certainly stay again. I thoroughly recommend this place.

We were provided with clear directions on how to find them and they were kind enough to accommodate our need to check in slightly earlier. The room was absolutely excellent; clean, bright and spacious and they provided us with a wonderful breakfast the next morning. Can't recommend them more. Thank you!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Jonathan and Anna’s beautiful house. They made me feel very welcome. The bedroom was lovely, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The en-suite was lovely and clean too with some toiletries in there. There was a choice of teas and coffee in the room. Jonathan and Anna have a lovely sitting room downstairs that is for their guests to use. This also has a choice of beverages in it too. I was given a lovely breakfast before I left and Jonathan walked me down to the village to show me the short cut. Jonathan and Anna are amazing hosts. They really go out of their way to make your stay special.

  • Excellent wholesome breakfast ie wholegrain bread and homemade Seville Orange marmalade. Free range eggs provided too. Lovely family and great hospitality. We shared a lovely tea time with them in the reception room.

  • Set on the outskirts of a delightful English village, with footpaths almost at the doorstep to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, Pyt House is stunning and my host Jonathan and his wife Anna could not have done more to welcome me into their beautiful home. My room (with ensuite) was charming and comfortable with delightful views. Breakfasts were substantial and the Wiltshire bacon was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Pyt House especially if you’re looking for some peace and quiet - yet it is ideally situated for visits to Salisbury, Devizes, Bath and all the quintessential English villages in between!

  • Jonathan, Anna & their daughter Louise couldn’t have done more to make my stay amazing. Lovely views, serene environment & they went out of their way to meet my dietary requirements with a delicious breakfast including homemade jam. Communication was great & the place was super clean.

Church Farm Barn, as the name suggests, was part of a working farm in the centre of this picturesque village. The derelict building was completely rebuilt in 2005 and converted into modern living accommodation. For the first 10 years after being rebuilt it was occupied by one or other of our two daughters. It was completely redecorated in 2016. Both bedrooms are en suite and include a walk-in shower. The Barn shares a private courtyard with Church Farm House, and is a quiet, sunny spot in a quiet village. IDEAL LOCATION if you are attending a wedding in Urchfont Church - it is a short walk away. The Lamb Inn is just a few minutes walk away. A traditional, thatched village pub serving real ales and pub food every day (except Mondays). The village shop shares the pub car park and is open every day. All the electricity supplied to these premises is from 100% renewable energy sources. Space heating is by electric storage heaters backed up with electric blow heaters. Please be aware that the kichen is very compact and does not have a full size oven.
Urchfont is a very pretty village, with at least three greens and a duck pond. Many of the houses are listed historic buildings, and there are numerous thatched buildings - the local thatching style is know as "Wiltshire Long Straw" and is unique to a small area of Wiltshire. Our home, Church Farm House, is itself a Grade II listed building with longstraw thatch. The official Listed Building description for our house suggests that it dates from 1450 and is a surviving wing from a larger Medieval hall. There is a thriving village school and an ancient church, St. Michael and All Angels. The church has a fine set of bells - as you will hear if you are here for a wedding, or Thursday evening bell practice! The community in Urchfont is very active and this is especially evident in the annual Urchfont Scarecrow Festival, a charity event, which attracts thousands of visitors to to the village. The festival always takes place over the three days of the May Day Bank Holiday (usually the first weekend in May). This is crop-circle country! For many years this part of Wiltshire has been a major centre of activity for mysterious crop-circles. Paranormal phenomena, or elaborate hoax? Who knows?!
  • Lovely location. The barn was exceptionally clean with great facilities and local tips.
