The property is a cosy 1 bedroomed cottage with a double bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge / kitchen area. It is a lovely little property and very well equipped with induction hob, coffee pod machine, dish-washer, washing machine smart tv and wifi. The property also has its own designated parking space and patio. Local amenities include supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, takeaways and ice cream parlour not to mention umpteen quaint shops.
Equidistant between York and Hull, Market Weighton is on The Wolds Way, ever popular with walkers and cyclists. Also bird watchers will love being near to Bempton Cliffs at Bridlington which less than 40 mins drive. Close by we have a choice of excellent restaurants and great local pubs.
Famous for the Wolds Way and Giant Bradley (Market Weightons own giant!). York with all its glorious roman history, city walls and museums plus its first class racecourse is 1/2 an hour away and the East coast is also close by. Also just a 10 minutes drive to the beautiful historic town of Beverley with its Cathedral and racecourse.
  • Very easy to find, and very close to some excellent restaurants. The hosts are wonderful, I would stay here again!

  • Our stay in John's house was perfect. It is a nice an comfortable small house even for 2 months like us. The village is nice and well situated beetween York, Hull, the cost and national parks.

    Patrice2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • House exactly as described, exemplary cleanliness, well equipped and a person who can help in case of problem or if question (Val) as living in the village.

    Patrice2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

  • What a little gem this place is! We booked with quite short notice but John emailed us straight away and when we asked to stay another couple of nights, he emailed back within 10 minutes. We found the place really easily with his directions and gained entry via the keysafe. The heating was already on for us and the place was spotlessly clean. John and Val had very kindly left us some tea bags and milk etc so we were able to get straight on with our holiday. The place itself is compact but has everything we needed. A well appointed kitchen/lounge/dining area downstairs all in 1 room and up the stairs to shower room with toilet and a double bedroom. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bed is really comfy and there is plenty of hot water. The house is located a stones throw from at least 4 nice pubs and there is an abundance of restaurants and take aways. John was able to recommend a few and on following these up, were not disappointed. There are some nice shops including pharmacy, hardware shop and a grocery shop and a Tesco superstore 4 minutes drive away on the edge of town. The town even has its own historical giant! The town is well located for those wishing to explore historic York, the amazing free museums in Hull or a day out at the seaside. John has left some visitors info with nice walks and places to visit. We’ve had no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this place to friends and family and we hope to return next year for another mini break. Well done John and Val

  • A stylish end of terrace cottage, which was perfect for us as a couple. The decor was modern and trendy and the property was immaculately clean with everything that we needed for a home from home feel to our getaway. The use of toiletries and kitchen supplies was great-it was nice to have bread, jams, butter and milk as a welcome pack. Parking in the layby outside the property was ideal and the bed was extremely comfortable too! The town itself has plenty of takeaways, pubs, quaint shops and a tesco supermarket (with petrol station) as back up. It's an ideal base to explore nearby Hull and York. We would happily stay at the cottage again and again.

  • Very clean and stylish place. Bathroom was really nice and pictures were as advertised. Check in and check out very easy. I would book again :)

    Reiss2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was exactly as described/pictured - stylishly furnished and well thought-through - e.g. with a dishwasher, washing machine, drying rack, iron + ironing board, private parking; all of which were very much appreciated - and there were some nice touches like a complimentary bottle of wine, milk in the fridge and confectionery as a welcome. York, Beverley and Hull are all within easy reach - as are the Breezy Knees Gardens (Warthill) which are definitely worth a visit! Thanks to Julie's recommendation (in the info folder) for Hunmanby Gap we found Bempton Cliffs, which also made for a great day out. All in all, very recommendable! Thanks again:)

    Edith2019-09-13T00:00:00Z

  • This was my second time staying with Lynn and again it exceeded my expectations (see below for earlier review). It can feel lonely and daunting when commuting and travelling solo but Lynn’s place feels like going from home to home and it’s also very safe to stay in. The house is very clean and the bedroom is beautifully furnished. The cost per night is extremely reasonable especially as breakfast is available and the rooms have en suite. Lynn has a fantastic sense of humour and really lovely to chat to. This property comes with my highest recommendation. Thank you so much for having me 😄

    Lisa2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the third time I've stayed with Lynn. Everything is fine. Lynn went to town to pick me up. Thank you very much for your help. I wish you all the best.

  • A lovely warm welcome from Lynn for me and my family and great value. We stayed in the area to watch a high profile concert at the village hall which was also very pleasant and it was easy walking distance. It is also a beautiful village and I understand a great location for ramblers. I will be back. Thank you x

    rick2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • No surprise that Lynn is a superhost! Her home is cosy, comfortable and clean. The photos do not do the house justice! I fell in love with it straight away. Staying at Lynn’s was like going from home to home especially as she went out of her way to make me feel at home. We stayed in the room with the king size bed and I loved the fact that the room had an en suite, this is what made the property even more unique for me. There is a pub nearby, and Market Weighton is just a few minutes drive away where there is access to more shops/restaurants. This is one of the few properties where breakfast is provided and we really appreciated this, the price is extremely reasonable and I would have expected to pay more for an en-suite room plus breakfast. I really enjoyed my chats with Lynn. It was really easy to communicate with Lynn prior to my stay and she answered any questions that I had. Anyone looking for a break from the city or looking to work in York and the surrounding areas - I would strongly recommended staying with Lynn. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Stayed 2 nights while doing the Yorkshire Wold Way. Accommodation in Thixendale, the next town over, was exorbitantly expensive, so Neil shuttled me there and I walked back. I saved money and as an added bonus got to meet Neil and Cheryl! Two awesome hosts who seem to be in it just so they can meet new people and make new friends. Really enjoyed my stay!

  • Not the first time I've stayed, so you can tell I enjoyed it first time around. The room is very big, nice sized bed, ensuite shower and toilet. Suitable for working too, as has desk and chair. Hosts are lovely too. It is a family home, so school mornings don't expect it to be quiet - not an issue for me though. 🙂

  • Excellent accommodation in a nice village. Close for walking the wilds The kitchen had everything that you need for cooking and the underfloor heating keeps the house extremely comfortable. My 2 young boys loved it

    Scott2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage, it has everything you need to retreat for a few days or even longer. We went for Christmas as we have family close by. We had a buffet and my Dad over for Christmas Eve. We cooked Christmas Dinner and the fridge was perfect for holding all that food as we also had food for Boxing Day too. The oven was a good size and there was a microwave too. Plenty of good quality pans and trays for the oven. A dishwasher which we used constantly for all the glasses and plates. There’s was lots of crockery and cutlery, even down to things like gravy jug and little bowl for the cranberry sauce. There was a Nespresso machine, although we took our own we did use the one there too. The shower was nice and big and there was always hot water. The underfloor heating makes it so nice to walk around in bare feet, even in the middle of winter. The views from the windows at the back are beautiful and I missed this when I moved away from Yorkshire. Seeing the mist on the hills on a morning was lovely. It very quiet so perfect for us as we don’t like noisy neighbours. I didn’t leave the house for three days, it was like being on a long holiday. We paid to plant a tree as My parents live in Market Weighton and my son is 10 so he will enjoy watching his tree grow when he visits his Nannie. Overall, the best place we have stayed in this area and is great for when we need to pop and see family. We’d definitely like to book for next Christmas if we can and will probably be back again before then.

    Laura2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet, very clean, thoughtful little touches like the milk in the fridge and arrival cake. We found more utensils in the kitchen than we have at home. Lovely place, even the quilt on our bed was a light weight summer one, would certainly book the cottage again. The village pub serves food every lunch day but only evening meals on a Monday and Friday and you need to book as it is very popular.

  • The Chapel is a truly beautiful stay and the work which has been put into the renovation of this historic building is amazing. We stayed for three nights and felt really at home straight away. The kitchen was really well equipped, there were thoughtful touches like pastries which were left for us and parking was easy. The location is fantastic, quiet but very close to the supermarkets and town centre. We would recommend to anyone wanting to stay close to York and the surrounding areas. We used the local park and ride into the city and thoroughly enjoyed exploring beautiful Yorkshire.

    Tom2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel was definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed. The attention to the renovation and the level of comfort and ease is unsurpassed. Everywhere there were thoughtful touches and we loved the modern comforts along with the original features of the chapel itself. It was cosy, comfortable and situated so close to everything and we were able to explore the East Riding and be happy to return to the chapel every evening.

It’s the thoughtful touches which make this place a step up above from the rest... the crockery, the touches in the bathroom, the soft furnishings..... it’s just beautiful and to fully appreciate this home you have to visit. We cannot recommend it more highly. It offers exceptional value and will surpass the most intrepid weekender’s expectations. This place is an absolute gem!

Beech cottage is built on a tidy working farm, attached to the main farmhouse. It feels in the middle of nowhere, but is only ten minutes from york, and easy for taxis to reach. Nearby are also the lovely seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, as well as many quaint old fishing villages such as robin hoods bay and sandsend. Many visitors also love the steam train from Pickering, castle Howard, the north york moors and Yorkshire woods. There are so many cosy local pubs too!
The views are beautiful across fields and woods, with not another house in sight. Perfect for country lovers, who also want to visit york for a bit of city life. Dogs are very welcome, and previous guests have found the large pen ( which can be shared with our bassset, Dora ), very useful if they want to pop out for an hour or so and don't want to leave their dog indoors. There are endless walks straight from the cottage door, and a large porch for them to sleep in, making the holiday a lovely break for your pet too! The cottage is simply and stylishly furnished. Very warm with underfloor heating, a log burner and good supply of logs. Large bath and shower, and a comfy bed and sofa make this a perfect spot for travellers who need a cosy bolthole for visiting nearby attractions. Children also welcome, high chairs, travel cot, baby bath, steriliser and a wide range of toys can be available upon request. A swing, slide and lots of outdoor toys are also available in the back garden. A breakfast basket can be delivered to your door at an extra charge.
The cottage is a mile out of buttercrambe, or village, which is very sweet and old fashioned. We are three miles from Stamford bridge, a small town which is handy for popping to the co-op, pharmacy, news agents, cafe etc. There is also a choice of three pubs. York is 15 minutes by car, and there is a handy park and ride less than ten minutes from the cottage.
  • We felt very welcome, the cottage was peaful, comfortable and warm, and the bread and treats were a lovely surprise!

  • Lovely clean cottage. It was warm, bright and welcoming with a very comfy bed & sheets. The bathroom was spotless and it was very handy having a separate bath & shower. The surrounding views are beautiful. Catherine was very kind, friendly & fast to respond. She very kindly said we were welcome to walk our little pooch around their land. They have a lovely little collection of animals which were a pleasure to watch, especially the baby chicks!

  • We had a fabulous 2 days stay at Beech Cottage which is ideally located just outside of York and about an hours drive from the quaint little town of Whitby. We brought our dog Ruby along as we planned to do some walks around the area and had a wonderful circular walk from Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay and back, so was nice to be able to relax when we got back after a long day. The cottage is set on a fabulous working farm with sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, cows - not sure if there's anything I've missed , but its the most immaculate farm I've ever seen! It is really warm and cosy and lovely to wake up in the morning to the great views across the farmyard. There is a log burner if required but it was warm enough that we didn't need to use it. The bed is really comfy and the bathroom has ample of space, everything was really clean and fresh so you certainly get a good nights sleep. We did a cooked breakfast both mornings to set us up for the day but ate out at night at a lovely pub called The New Malton in Malton, which was fantastic (you will need to book and can recommend the Fish and Chips) and is about 15/20 drive away and is nice to walk around as its a traditional market town. If you are looking for a relaxing stay then Beech Cottage is ideal, its so nice you won't want to leave.

  • Catherine's farmhouse is ideal for exploring the York area. You will need a car to get around, but there is so much to do you will need to stay a while. We stayed a week and it was fabulous. Neil also showed us around his fully working farm and it was amazing. The home is very warm and cosy for winter. It is very clean and well set up including everything you could need in the kitchen. Wifi signal is very weak but you are able to use it for the essentials.

The Hayloft provides self catering holiday cottage accommodation fitted out to a high standard. The property is located in the pretty little village of Bainton situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds close to many tourist destinations such as Beverley, Hull, York and the east coast. The cottage has a private gravelled garden area with outdoor furniture, set within one acre of private land and includes off road parking. Free Wi-Fi is available. We welcome two well behaved dogs.
The cottage has its own small garden/seating area. This is enclosed and isolated from the farmhouse next door. The original exterior staircase is only used as a fire exit, with an internal staircase providing access to the first floor bedroom and bathroom. There is log burning fire supplied with complimentary logs. Both bedrooms have king size beds, a television and individual bath and shower rooms. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with separate fridge / freezer, dishwasher, washing machine. Iron / ironing board, hairdryer and towels are provided.
Bainton is situated in the heart of the wolds and has a number of public footpaths running though it including The Minster Way. Route 66 which is part of the national cycle network runs close by. The Wold Village restaurant is only a short walk from the cottage. There is a michelin star restaurant called The Pipe and Glass just 5 miles away in South Dalton, their food is excellent and the bar serves local ales. One footpath takes you across country to The Star Inn at North Dalton who also serve excellent food.
  • Lovely cottage in great location with lovely hosts. Everything we needed and much more was there for use in the cottage. Lots of little extras including biscuits for the dogs made such a nice welcome. Log burner was so nice and cozy on a stormy night and lovely comfy beds. Ideal chilled break

    Janine2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for the weekend as it is near to my Dad's house in Driffield and we were visiting him after a hospital stay. It was the perfect base for us - only 15 minutes easy drive from Driffield and also to Sledmere for walking our dog at Sledmere House (definitely recommended). The cottage is gorgeous - clean, warm and bright with lovely welcoming touches when we arrived such as the heating being turned up and the lamps and radio on. The garden is fully enclosed and overlooks a grassy paddock with some bird feeders that attracted lots of robins right opposite the patio doors - wonderful to watch as we ate our breakfast, although our dog was a little disgruntled! Storm Ciara battered the cottage the second night, but we stayed inside and felt very safe and cosy. Would definitely recommend staying here ☺️

    Amanda2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft was ideal for us, and a great base to explore the east coast. Very cosy due to the underfloor heating and log burner. The place was super clean and the beds were super comfy, definitely among the the highest standard we have come across in the many self catering places we have stayed in over the years. Very welcoming and friendly hosts but in no way intrusive. Great little touches to welcome us. Good communication and easy no-hassle check in. Great place to stay

My only criticism was I’d have liked blinds in the living area and a table and chairs outdoors. Highly recommend though, everyone was welcoming and we were invited to watch the polo practice which was great. Thank you for a lovely break.

  • I have stayed with Rowena multiple times, and it is always a great stay. This was the first time she was not there to meet me and the pick up of keys was very simple.

You are welcome to stay in my home where you can access a private double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. My home is in a quiet location on the Trans Pennine Trail and is within walking distance of the train station at Brough and also to the bus station in Elloughton. It is within a couple of minutes drive to the A63 which has easy access to Hull and the M62. It is also a short taxi ride to local wedding venues such as Cave Castle, Little Wold Vineyard & Rowley Manor.
You have access to a private double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and also downstairs there is a private living space available with log burner and TV. You can also use the kitchen to cook and dine in or if I have food on the go make a small contribution towards the evening meal. A light breakfast is provided.
Elloughton is a large village next to Brough and Welton within a minutes drive of the A63. It offers easy access to Hull and the M62. Nearby there are supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and cafes. It is convenient for access to the Trans Pennine Trail and the Wolds Way. (Secure bike storage is available)
