Places to stay in Nant Gwynant
A quarry man's cottage at the foot of Snowdon. Fully refurbished in 2015 to provide excellent facilities for couples and young families. Snowdon is at the door and Rhyd Ddu provides good accessibility to a wide range of other activities.
  • Couldn’t have asked for a better location for this cottage. Especially if you are planning on climbing Snowdon via the Rhyd-Ddu path and the Snowdon Rangers path. The cottage is very nice and cosy and our dogs felt very much at home. The place is very clean, warm and tidy with all the necessary amenities. A place to wash and dry your wet walking gear and an outside garden if you are lucky enough with the weather. The village itself is quiet with a nice little pub within a stones throw of the cottage. There is also a forest nearby to get lost in if the mountain weather aren’t suitable for hiking. The host is very accommodating and communication is impeccable.

  • A lovely stay at a beautifully finished cottage. Perfectly located for Snowdon treks (a 2 minute walk and you're at the base of the Rhyd Ddu path) or just for a chill out. Excellent communications from the host. Highly recommend!

  • Lovely, clean, cosy cottage. Incredibly convenient for exploring Snowdon as it is near two well marked paths. Ian is also very responsive and helpful with all aspects of your stay. Highly recommended.

A beautiful cottage in the Llanberis Pass, occupying a stunning spot on Snowdon itself. Bordered by a stream and river; access is across a private wooden bridge. Incredible views and straight up onto the mountain for walkers and climbers. *1 dog permitted only by prior agreement - due to livestock etc - and a £20 pet fee, to be paid on arrival.
Delightful mountain cottage in the heart of the Welsh 3000s, with direct routes up to the peak of Snowdon, Crib Goch, the Glyders and Tryfan. Wake up each day to enjoy the fascinating and ever changing landscape, enjoying that first coffee/tea overlooking a mountain stream. We keep free range rescue chickens, so there is a steady supply of eggs for you to purchase at low cost if you want fresh eggs for breakfast.
Your local pub is the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris and serves real ale; a dog-friendly climbers/walkers pub. It's around 15 minutes walk away and the lanes can be pitch black at night, so bring a torch :) A short drive further up the Llanberis Pass is the Pen y Gwryd hotel, where Hillary and Tenzing trained for the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. They signed the ceiling, so don't forget to look out for that! The bar is famous for its photos of mountaineers who have trained on Snowdon for Everest.
  • This was our second stay at the cottage, and we loved it just as much as the first. Beautiful location, very clean and comfortable and a great host. Highly recommend.

  • We absolutely loved Ty Maen and the breathtaking scenery. Finding ourselves sandwiched between storm Ciara and Dennis certainly made it a wild week. The cottage was a welcome and comfortable retreat to both shelter from and observe the dramatic weather conditions and would be a lovely place to return to after a day in the mountains. Lisa and Chris were fantastic hosts and worked incredibly hard to help us ferry our belongings to the cottage when we arrived. They also make awesome welsh cakes.

    Kristel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved are stay here, the location is perfect an the views are spectacular!!! The cottage itself is very cosy an Lisa left some very nice welsh cakes in the fridge which was a lovely touch. Look forward to staying again in the future.

Celyn is situated in the magical valley of Nant Gwynant, right in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. It's incredibly fortunate to be one of the very few cottages in Snowdonia that is only a 10 minute walk from the Watkin Path, a spectacular route up Snowdon. From the cottage itself you are afforded the most awe-inspiring views of the Snowdon Range. The cottage has been recently refurbished & sleeps 4 people in 2 double rooms. It has everything you need to have an enjoyable holiday.
Sleeps four, two bedrooms, both with kingsize beds & all linen provided. One bathroom with WC, bidet, sink & bath with shower over the top. Towels provided. Fully equipped kitchen/diner with cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge / small freezer. Cosy lounge with log burner (initial fuel provided) , 4 seater sofa, smart TV with DVD player Washing machine, tumble dryer & drying room for wet gear. WiFi is availble, although sometimes slow, it works well in communal areas. Celyn has a large garden with spectacular views. Outdoor seating & bbq/firepit provided. There is ample parking. The drive is steep but there are options to park at the bottom. We will contact you on the day of your booking to let you know check in details.
THE VALLEY - Nant Gwynant Directly from the bottom of the drive you can walk along the Glaslyn river, which has its source from the top lake of Snowdon and flows out into the Irish Sea at Porthmadog. A ten minute walk down river will take you to the start of the Watkin Path - a spectacular route up Snowdon, taking you through ancient oak woodland, besides waterfalls and blue pools, ruins of old mines, and finally up to the summit of Snowdon itself. Caffi Gwynant is also on your doorstep, serving delicious local food. Two lakes are also within easy reach. There is Llyn Dinas - a beautiful lake around which skirts a well-marked path to the picturesque and historic village of Beddgelert. And, in the opposite direction, is Llyn Gwynant. From here, depending on the season, you can hire canoes, paddles boards etc., and eat stone-baked pizzas by the lake, giving you time to appreciate the awe-inspiring views. CLOSEST VILLIAGE - Beddgelert This picturesque, Welsh village lies just 3.8 miles from Celyn (7 min drive). It is a MUST SEE, and worth spending ample time to soak up the historic atmosphere and its gorgeous surroundings. There is a good selection pubs, cafes, gift shops, a local shop, post office, church, and a fantastic ice-cream parlour! The world famous Welsh highland railway passes directly through Beddgelert, taking you on a memorable journey through some unforgettable locations. Beginning in Beddgelert, there is wide variety of walks that will take you through forests, up mountains, along the Glasyn river as its cuts and plunges its way through the mighty Aberglaslyn gorge, and walks that will take you back to Celyn. CLOSEST TOWN - Porthmadog Porthmadog is a small Welsh coastal town. It lies 11.4 miles from Celyn (23min drive). It has major supermarkets and all you would need from a town. It developed in the 19th century as a port exporting slate to England and elsewhere, but since the decline of the industry it has become a shopping centre and tourist destination. Porthmadog is the terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway. Within walking distance are the pretty seaside villages of Borth-y-guest & Morfa Bychan. The welsh coastal path passes through Porthmadog, taking walkers along the banks of the Glaslyn Estuary, providing views of mountain peaks and shimmering bays. If you are lucky you might also spot Ospreys hunting over the waters during the summer season before they migrate to Africa in the early autumn. Porthmerion is also nearby, a famous, and otherworldly Italianate-styled town situated on the banks of the Dwyrd estuary. SNOWDON - Routes up WATKIN PATH is a 10 minute walk from the cottage. It is one of the quieter and tougher routes up Snowdon. MINERS & PYG TRACK starts at Pen Y pass carpark - 11min (4.7 mi). They are arguably the most popular routes up Snowdon. CRIB COCH is an iconic grade 1 scramble and not for the inexperinced! Start point is Pen Y Pass car park. LLANBERIS PATH - 23min (10.3 mi) this is the easiest route up Snowdon. The Snowdon railway also leaves from Llanberis. SNOWDON RANGER, RHYD DHU & SOUTH RIDGE are other less popular routes to the summit and are all within 10 miles away from Celyn. If you want to hike mountains less travelled then see below... MOUNTAINS - Distances from Celyn There are many mountains to walk in Snowdonia,. Here are a few as an example to show Celyn's excellent location for mountain enthusiasts : The Glyderau Mountain Range - Idwal Carpark & parking on the A5 - 22 min (13.1 mi) The Carneddau Mountain Range - Idwal Carpark & parking on the A5 - 22 min (13.1 mi) The Moelwynion Mountain Range - Moel Siabod carpark - 15 min (8.2 mi) - Cnicht carpark - 9 min (2.9 mi) Please note that there is also an abundance of easier non-mountainous walks close by to Celyn. • Tom’s hospitality, warm welcome and attentiveness was a great addition to our amazing time staying in Nant Peris for our Snowdon climb. Highly recommend this accommodation with an added bonus of a good old traditional boozer next door having great pub grub.

    Steven2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, well kept. Tom is very knowledgable about the local area and is a superb host.

    Will2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very modern and much more spacious than we expected very quite location but that’s what we wanted very neutral to explore the natural Beaty of Snowdonia thanks Tom for being a great host

    Pamela2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We’d like to thank Tom so much for his hospitality during our stay in the cottage. We had a lovely time despite the weather being pretty awful, but it was a lovely break away. The cottage was pretty much what we had expected from reading the reviews and Tom couldn’t have been a better host. We really appreciated his quick responses to our messages and he was even kind enough to give us a lift into the village one evening to save on taxi fares. We weren’t able to get up Snowdon this time due to the weather but it is perfectly situated for it and we may be back in the summer! ☺️ There is WiFi however this can be a bit temperamental and slow, and with there being no signal, it’s perfect for anyone wanting to shut off the real world for a few days - although we did get signal just a few minutes drive away. There is a lovely little pub next door which do nice food and has a nice open fire! Overall we enjoyed our quiet break away and the cottage is nice and cosy. Would definitely recommend!

    Laura2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding hospitality and fabulous location. Tom lives right next door and is a wonderful host; there if you need him with speedy responses, but otherwise leaves you to it. Cottage is clean and homely with plenty of amenities. It's right next to a public footpath which trails being the property into beautiful views. Big supermarkets are about 20mins drive away, but there's a Spar in Llanberis which is 5 mins drive away. Thanks again Tom for a lovely stay!

    Eleanor2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ideally located place for climbing Snowdon and other walks around the area also easily accessed. The place itself has everything you could need and Tom personally showed where everything was and was around if we had any issues. A great place to stay!

Our valley cottage is ideal for couples. It is a small but perfectly formed 500 year old dwelling nestled in the idyllic Nantmor Valley near to Beddgelert with walks, along rivers and lanes or over the hills and mountains, all from the front door The outside offers you gorgeous views or you can sit & gaze out onto the hills through the wall of glass from inside this pretty home The woodburner is perfect for those precious evenings of simply relaxing together and enjoying the tranquility
Looking straight out onto the hills and with mountains beyond, this little home is warm and cosy in winter and sunny and bright in the summer. We have plans to add even more to this lovely space over time including a wood fired hot-tub but presently, the landscaping is presently basic with the garden mainly laid to lawn. It has a patio area and a bistro table and chairs to enjoy the wonderful views overlooking the paddocks and hills and.of course, a glass of bubbly. There is a small ensuite shower room, a pretty bedroom with a king sized bed, Living room with the most comfortable settee ever (well, we think so) and a woodburning stove to snuggle up in front of. The kitchen is fully equipped with Bosch dishwasher, oven and hob, a hood extractor fan, a fridgefreezer and a microwave (we offer a free laundry service) There is a bistro dining table and tub chairs in which to sit and relax while looking out at the views through the full length glass gable end. For anyone looking for guests to join them, we also have two rooms in our own home that may be available, please see our other listings for details.
We are in the Snowdonia National Park, a short car ride to Mount Snowdon or a longer walk of four miles to get to the Watkins Path. Our local village is Beddgelert, a pretty mountain community with pubs, restaurants, gift shops and a general and post office store. The exhilarating zip wire rides at Blaenau Ffestiniog are nearby and Bethesda (the largest and fastest in the world) is just a twenty five minute drive. For a more sedate pace, we have some of the loveliest beaches within easy reach and golf courses of high standards including the Royal St David at Harlech. Spring brings the opening of cafes and coffee shops in which to enjoy a bit of people watching, not something you can do in the cottage but you will see the odd sheep, horse or goat!
  • Fantastic secluded location with amazing views over the river and woods. Very quiet and peaceful so perfect for relaxing and time alone. Super nice touches from the host made this an experience to really enjoy and remember. A great base for exploring northern Snowdonia and then coming back to relax and recharge.

  • Absolutely fantastic stay here. The cottage was beautiful, immaculate and very cozy. Susie is a lovely lady very welcoming and so helpful. So many lovely personal touches in the cottage. We hiked from our door on a beautiful walk and not far to drive to Snowdon which we climbed. The cottage is set in peaceful surroundings. Would thoroughly recommend to stay here and definitely will go back.

    Tania2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Leaving 5 stars does not do this cottage justice. The cottage itself is incredible, very well equipped, cosy, comfortable and clean. Susie is a great host, and we loved the thoughtful touches on arrival (our name on the gate to welcome us, and little treats in the fridge). The location is beautiful, great for walking and really peaceful. We didn’t want to leave, we will definitely return in the future!

  • The pods are super cute and we were very cozy with the down duvets! A very nice experience overall. The owner gave us some great tips for walking and leant us a map. The price is maybe a little steep but the novelty of staying in a wee wooden hut explains that. One other thing! The showers are amazing. Very powerful and hot. Great stuff. Has everything you need for a short stay.

    Antonia2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at the camping pods! Really quick communication before arrival and we were able to check in earlier than 12pm which was so helpful. In a great location for Snowdon, easily connected to other Snowdon routes and nearby villages by bus. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were always clean. Would definitely recommend for a trip to be in the heart of Snowdonia.

  • Rosie’s cottage is beautiful, we had the most amazing weekend break. The cottage itself has everything you would ever need, and special note to the beautiful bedroom with views over the mountains and waterfalls. The location is incredible, you can walk up Snowdon from the house and in the opposite direction is Bedgellert Forest and beautiful lakes to walk around. Rosie was a fabulous host, as other people have mentioned the lemon drizzle cake was amazing! Rosie kindly let us stay longer in the cottage as there wasn’t a booking that day, which was so appreciated and made my husband’s birthday even more special. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, it’s a beautiful cottage in an incredible location and a wonderful host, thank you Rosie!

    Jen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place. Sparkling clean and has everything you need. The hot tub is just amazing too. I can’t recommend this enough. Rosie was great in terms of communication and everything was just simple and easy! Also, the lemon drizzle was tremendous!

  • Fantastic location, quiet, beautiful views all around, right on Rhyd Ddu path for walk up Snowdon. The house is really homely, spotless and modern but with the style of a cute cottage - really warm too even when freezing outside! Fabulous hot tub and very comfy bed. Rosie best host we've had, even made us a cake! She was very helpful and welcoming and let us know great places to visit x

    Molly-Jayne2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie’s cottage is PERFECT. She was great at communicating with any questions I had and she gave us the absolute best welcome when we arrived. :) The cottage was so clean and cozy! Not to mention the hot tub was nice and warmed up upon our arrival too! Step outside of your front door and you have two trails that lead straight up to the top of Mt Snowdon! Rosie will answer any questions you have if you are planning on doing any walking/hiking. I could go on and on about how great this place was, so do yourself a favor and book this place if you’re trying to stay a few nights in Snowdonia!

  • A wonderful, welcoming and cosy place to stay, Jo provides everything you need (the log burner was lit for our arrival making the place lovely and warm). Everything was clean and fresh. Would definitely recommend The Cwt!

  • Very cozy, comfortable and private space. Excellent town centre location.

    Scott2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at Jo’s place! The little apartment is spacious and perfect for a couple’s stay - lots of homely touches like toiletries available if you’ve forgotten anything, tea and coffee for your stay and of course, a gorgeous log burner set up ready to light! Only two minutes walk to the local pubs and shop and some excellent hiking routes right on the doorstep. Parking right outside the door a real bonus. Jo very kindly popped over to offer a free night’s stay on check out as the weather was really terrible as we were due to leave with road closures etc. Luckily we made it home, but it was a super thoughtful touch. Thanks again for a fab stay in a gorgeous place!

    Laura2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, everything we needed for a short weekend break. Woodburner was fantastic on a cold weekend!

    Jake2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little haven that is well equipped and cared for- lovely little extras such as ice cubes in the freezer and the bathroom had an emergency drawer that was free to use with toothbrushes and toothpaste etc... just in case you forget yours! The log burner was made up ready to be lit and Wow it throws out some heat! Even a hot water bottle was left out on the bed :) The CWT is Spotlessly clean and I couldn't fault it in anyway shape or form. I would happily visit again.

    Holly2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • A+ A+ in our book! Jo’s Place is the perfect home away from home to explore Snowdonia National Park. Located in a charming town right down the road from a Snowden Peak trail head and many more to boot. With every amenity you might need, Jo’s Place is truly a value considering it’s location. We highly recommend!

Nantgwynant also hosts a delightful community cafe (Caffi Gwynant) open all week 9.00 to 5.00 pm (except Mondays and Tuesdays).
  • I had an amazing time at Debs and Liams beautiful house. They're exceptional hosts. I'd highly recommend. I had a solid breakfast every morning... yogurt, berries, bread, jam, eggs and tea of course. I love walking and they gave great directions to less touristy footpaths. I also learned a lot about the history of the area and Wales in general. Debs and Liam made me feel at home right from the start. My vacation wouldn't have been the same without their advice and company! Definitely coming back.

    Filip2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We are regular Airbnb travellers and would rate Liam and Debs welsh cottage in Snowdonia as one of the cosiest and homely of all the places we have stayed. The room is spotless. It has everything we needed to feel at home. Liam and Debs were super helpful checking in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed; we learned about their passion for trees, gardens, plants, birds, life in the valley and even how to make 'hipster porridge'. They were both inspirational, and a guide to a life lived well. We would highly recommend staying here and experiencing their lovely hospitality.

    Theba/Diego2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner we just came back from great mini break in Liam’s and Debs house. Liam and his wife were the best host we could wish for. Their house is nice and welcoming. They shared all their knowledge about the area with us and gave us plenty of the recommendations on where to eat and where to walk. They were happy to help us with whatever we needed and by the end of the day they’ve always found the time to have a chat with us, to see how our day turned out. In the morning there was always breakfast waiting for us which was served in their kitchen overlooking beautiful garden, which we’ve had while chatting to Liam and Debs about their adventures. It was the best AirBnB experience I have had so far. Thank you for everything.

    Katarzyna2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • One of our best and most authentic Airbnb experience. Liam and Deb are wonderful hosts, they know the area like the back of their hand and will be happy to give you all the informations and pieces of advice you need (hiking path, cafe, pubs..). The breakfast is incredible and get ready to laugh while eating because that is usually the time Liam & Deb share some funny memories of their own travelling experiences ! Needless to say that we would highly recommend the place.

    Elise2018-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Liam and Deb were the best hosts we could have asked for; incredible hospitality, generosity and tips and advice for the surrounding sights and areas. We had a lovely breakfast every morning and they made us feel very welcome, like a home from home. If you plan to stay in Snowdonia then this is the best place you could ask for the full experience of either Mount Snowdon or the lakes and so much more a stones throw from their beautiful home. We would love to stay again.

    Joe2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful time with Liam and only wish we could stay longer. The area is breathtakingly beautiful; We did the best trips and hikes and felt completely happy and satisfied with Liam. It's incredible how much we liked it and how much we loved it. We'll be back, sooner rather than later;)

    Sophie Meret2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cottage and location with the most fantastic hosts! Liam and Deb are a wonderful, friendly couple who made us feel totally at home and have great advice for making the most of the local area. The room is super cosy and the whole set-up is really convenient. Breakfast was lovely- set us up well for a good day of walking in the mountains! Cannot recommend staying here enough! Will definitely be staying here again in the future.

  • Amazing first experience using Airbnb. Great location to explore the local area and very close to the Watkin path up Snowdon. Very cozy bedroom with easy access to toilet and exit. with Liam and Debs were wonderful friendly hosts, very accommodating and helpful. • Wonderful cottage set in the heart of the Snowdonia mountains. Incredible views, ideal peaceful location. Cottage itself was bigger than expected, as were the barn and hot tub! Clean spacious rooms, huge bathroom, bath tub and shower. The wood fire was a lovely addition, as were the extra treats received upon arrival which really made our trip extra special. Wonderful hospitality, Rosie honestly couldn’t do enough for us and gave us some good recommendations for local walks etc. Thank you so much again for everything Rosie!

  • What can I say !!! The place was amazing everything and more than what we expected. The place is situated perfectly with the added bonus of a direct path to snowdon behind the cottages. The log burner and hottub were a great bonus and being able to help yourself to fire wood was also a nice touch. Rosie and her husband were amazing hosts although we only met briefly they made us feel right at home offering us plenty of information on the local area etc. The cottage was sparkling clean and very well equipped with everything that you would need. The bed is very comfortable also. I would really reccomend anyone to visit you will not be disappointed. The views are also spectacular. Overall amazing break away thank you to rosie. Hopefully see you again soon

  • We all loved our 7 night stay at Snowdon lodge. It is so peaceful, the only noise being the water in the brook tumbling down over the rocks. The cabin was well equipped and everywhere was clean. It's only 15min. to the car park to climb Snowdon and set in the middle of stunning sceanery. If you need a place to stay while touring North Wales, then Snowdon lodge is ideal. We would certainly stay there again.

  • Lovely cabin, well equipped and very clean with some nice added touches e.g. local info, games and BBQ. It's situated next to a waterfall and stream, beautiful and perfect for relaxing and having meals. Location is great for tackling Snowdon with some good tips from Ed, ideal as a base for visiting other areas of Snowdonia / North Wales as well. Directions from Elaine and Ed were useful for arrival. Overall fantastic and would definitely recommend.

  • A wonderful and well equipped cabin in a beautiful location! We went to celebrate both of our birthdays and to walk up Snowdon which we did via the Llanberis path. The cabin is the perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and just a short drive from the beautiful village of Beddgelert which has a few shops and nice pubs. The river running along side the cabin is so relaxing and picturesque, it was lovely just to sit and watch it in the mornings and evenings. Thank you to Ed and Elaine for being great hosts, we didn't want to leave!

  • Little cosy paradise. My self and my partner visited for a few days of tranquility after an operation. We were not disapoimted at all as it was simply beautiful. We took our labrador (fin) with us and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay. Fin was able to swim in the river and we found the garden very dog friendly and secure. The lodge had everything we needed and the local town had a few places on interest, a real secluded spot but in good reach of some great restaurants and interesting walks..... inwould happily recommend this and will be back myself in the summer.

    David2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Well-kept, cosy, friendly host and above all an amazing location. We were just a short drive from a Tesco superstore, Portmeirion and local trails. River is louder than you might expect but I’m a light sleeper and was used to it after the first night. Despite the unpredictable weather, we had a perfect stay and would highly recommend it for couples who need a ‘glam ping’ getaway from the busy city life :)

Buarthau at NookSnowdonia is a Grade II listed cottage nestled in the mountains under a vast sky, and provides the ideal base to explore the wild beauty of Snowdonia. It's a secluded hideaway but within reach of sandy beaches, mountains and attractions of North Wales. The cottage has original features including an inglenook fireplace with woodburner and some low, unconventional doors. 100% powered by renewable energy, with underfloor heating to keep you cosy. Discounts available for long stays.
Our cottage is over 250 years old with some original features including 18th century graffiti in the slate living room floor. Low doors and thick stone walls create a magical and peaceful environment and will keep you feeling safe and snug if the weather takes a turn for the worse. The cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms (1 king, 1 twin, 1 adult sized bunk) and there is space for a travel cot for the smallest travellers. There are 2 bathrooms one with shower and one with small sit in bath tub. Wood burning stoves and underfloor heating make for a cosy stay, whatever the season and complimentary wood is provided at the start of your stay. The kitchen with views out to back garden has an oven, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and comfortable dining table. Wifi (satellite) , TV, DVD player, games, iPod dock are provided to guests. The cottage is situated in 90 acres of land in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. A stream runs past the front of the cottage to lure you to sleep and also provides the perfect spot for riverside campfires, paddling, and lazying in a hammock or river den. Behind the cottage, the land climbs to over 200m, and you're welcome to explore to find views down to the sea or across to Snowdon and the other beautiful mountain peaks. Guests have exclusive use of our wood-fired hot tub- located in the old pigsty about 50m from the house in which you can hopefully rest weary muscles and tired heads from a day of walking. Guests have responsibility for the hot tub during their stay but we can often be on hand to assist.
Buarthau in a secluded valley on a single track road. However, we are only 10mins drive from Beddgelert, a beautiful Welsh village which has a number of pubs and restaurants, as well as convenience store. The nearby mountains, lakes and coast are the stars of the area and are all easily accessible within 10-20mins. If you needs supplies, Tesco will deliver if booked in advance otherwise In Porthmadog (20mins) you will be able to find all that you need for your stay in North Wales. All of the paths up Snowdon can be accessed within 30minutes from the cottage. We're within 45mins drive of most of Snowdonia's main attractions including Zipwires, Surf Snowdonia and mountain railways.
  • A superb cottage with first rate hospitality with Nick and Charlotte who couldn’t have been more helpful before and during our stay. A fantastic cottage, maintained to a very high standard, amazing location and to top it off a wood burning hot tub. A definite recommend.

    Tim2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is small, but it was perfect for two couples with small children. We loved the wood burning fireplace and Nick & Charlotte's commitment to energy efficiency and recycling.

  • This is such a great little cottage, the pictures really don’t do it justice as to how pretty it is inside and out. We stayed as a family of 4 with a baby and stayed during Storm Denis. The cottage was so cosy that we didn’t even notice the storm outside, and we all had a really relaxing time! This was a great base for exploring and we visiting Conwy and Caernarfon whilst there. Nick and Charlotte were lovely and we had great communication on the lead up to they stay. We will definitely be back another time!

    Claire2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay. The cottage is beautiful. So warm, lovely sheets and a fantastic shower. Fantastic location for Snowdon. Really wild, a true country retreat. Nick and Charlotte were so helpful and welcoming.

  • An amazing cottage in the perfect location for exploring snowdonia. We rented the cottage as a party of 6 adults which we had plenty of space with everything you could ask for. We spent our last night under the stars in the wood fired hot tube which was something pretty special! We will be back.

  • Great little cottage. Wonderful and relaxing listening to the tranquil sound of the river in the picturesque setting of Beddgelert. The cottage was spotless, had all amenities that we needed for our weekend. It is in a great location with pubs and eating places nearby. Lovely walks. Not too far away to jump in the car or catch the train to visit other places of interest. Pat was lovely host and we had no problems at all. Overall really impressive and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

  • Hebog cottage has turned to be the perfect place to stay for our trip in Snowdon. It really felt like home and has everything you need. The village of Beddgelert is a little gem, it’s so beautiful. Would love to come back to Snowdonia national park but I would not look for somewhere different to stay: Hebog cottage is the perfect place for a couple trip.

    Vincent2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was really lovely - it was immaculate, warm & cosy, and had good quality furnishings. We especially loved the comfortable bed and the shower! Perfect location to explore the Welsh mountains (few minutes drive to the Watkin path which we did) We would highly recommend this place.

    Alexandra2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is in a brilliant setting- 100 metres from the village shop, cafes, pubs, restaurants and little gift shops. Beddlegert is beautiful with the river running through it and lovely walks straight from the doorstep. The cottage is small but perfect for a couple. We loved the woodburner and the outdoor space. It doesn’t have central heating but it was great to use the woodburner anyway. We’d definitely stay again! Unfortunately we weren’t well so didn’t end up climbing Snowdon but it’s so close we’d recommend you stay here if wanting to do the climb. Thanks for everything Siwan.

    Philip2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous cottage. It has been beautifully modernised and is very well equipped with everything new and lovely. The hosts have thought of everything (even little torches in the drawers of the bedside tables to light your way to the loo in the night - never seen that before!). The cottage is cosy yet spacious at the same time. Didn't try the wood burning stove but it will be lovely in cold weather. Loved the sitting out area. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the village. Parking is fine. Usually parked outside the cottage or a few metres along the road. Lots of nice places to eat out in Beddgelert and great walking and other attractions in the area. Hope to come back again soon and would recommend to all.

Very spacious, comfortably furnished traditional cottage in the mountain pass hamlet of Nant Gwynant, 3 ½ miles north of Beddgelert, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Just 2 ½ miles from Snowdon summit as the crow flies, the cottage enjoys dramatic views of Lliwedd and the Snowdon range.
Originally 3 separate miner's cottages from about 1860, Glyn Awel is well-equipped throughout and includes a large farmhouse style dining kitchen with wood burning stove a large comfortable lounge with inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, TV, and media centre with a selection of DVDs. Ultrafast FTTP Wireless broadband, parking for up to 4 cars. The large rear garden is on several levels and is the perfect place to enjoy a barbecue with tremendous views (BBQ and garden furniture are provided); however, steep terraces mean that young children will need to be supervised outside. The rear yard has gates which when closed seals off the garden for dogs or children.
The Watkin path up Snowdon starts 1/4 mile away; and the Snowdon Sherpa bus network runs past the cottage making many round trips possible. Other attractions such as Porthmadog, Black Rock Sands Beach, Portmeirion, Llanberis, Criccieth Castle and Betws-y-Coed are all about 30 minutes scenic drive away by car. Licensed cafe 1/4 mile way, otherwise the nearby charming village of Beddgelert offers local shops and a range of pubs and restaurants and access to the Welsh Highland Railway. Clear skies and lack of light pollution make this a great place for night vistas, too. Plenty of walking at all levels straight from the cottage door.

  • A perfect base to explore the surrounding areas of Snowdonia. Not much can beat getting into a hot tub after climbing the mountains! The location was fantastic and easy to get to, and Rosie’s knowledge of the various routes and pathways super helpful. Will definitely be visiting again.

Hidden away in the Nantmor Valley just a few miles from the foot of Mount Snowdon, you will find us nestling in our own fourteen acres of paradise. We have a double en-suite room with it's own access. We do not inflate our prices for school holidays but have a winter and summer tarriff
The room is en-suite and has a king size bed with tea and coffee making facilities. The entrance is via a raised decking so is not, unfortunately, very disabled friendly. We offer bed but, presently, can only offer a 'snack breakfast' which would keep you going until you venture along the lane to fuel up on a proper full Welsh. We must make you aware that we have a large German Shepherd Dog. He is very friendly, in fact if he could lay upon your lap he would very much like to, but his happy buoyant nature can, understandably, be off-putting to those who are uncomfortable around large dogs. We will be happy to put him out of your way as best we can. Once you meet him you will love him. Please also note that we will struggle to offer internet connection but we will do our best. There are some areas of the property that you may be able to access it but we cannot guarantee it at all and if you do connect please understand that is is most likely you will only be able to send and receive emails and alike. Likewise with mobile reception. Some networks seem to work well but most don't. If you need to use a telephone we have a landline and will do all we can to help if you need the internet but one of the beauties of our home is it's isolation and tranquility.
At one end of the valley road is a wonderful cafe called Cafe Gwynant. It serves homemade breakfasts in a very pretty environment and is very popular with walkers and touring visitors alike. Our 'local pub' (four miles) offers breakfasts, lunch and dinner and has a very pretty garden looking onto Mother Snowdon. There are many other places to eat and drink in the local village of Beddgelert and the larger town of Porthmadog, which offers shops, supermarkets and restaurants, is within a few miles also. There are so many things to see and do around this gorgeous area and some of the attractions include the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways, the amazing Zip Wire, beautiful beaches including Morfa Bychan (Black Rock, which you drive onto) and pretty little fishing villages such as Borth-y-Gest.
  • A lovely, cozy room with all facilities you would be looking for in a nice and calm stay close to nature. The room is a little hidden gem, very clean, well decorated and well equipped with hot drink making facilities, snacks, hair dryer, cleaning service and bottled water everyday. Susie is a great host! Otis is a super loving dog! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a ‘quite holiday’ in woods.

    Dahami2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • A home away from home with amazing hospitality in an idyllic location. Susie couldn’t have been a better host and was really helpful with local tips. We’d definitely come back again in summer!

  • We had a lovely few days with Suzie and Nigel. The cosy air bnb was situated a mile down a little country track, and was surrounded by the views of Snowdonia and the sounds of a running stream. Would thoroughly recommend this retreat of calm and beauty. Loved the little touches made by Suzie and felt very welcomed by her!

Very close to hiking routes to Snowdonia National Park. Would definitely stay again!

Plas Hafan nestles in an idyllic secluded farming community in the Lledr valley. It is surrounded by outstanding scenery and is a perfect base for enjoying the many splendours of Snowdonia National Park and the varied activities it offers. The house retains many of the original features such as the pulpit, organ, pews, wall panelling and vaulted ceiling, complimented by a newly fitted kitchen and bathroom. Many walks start from the front gate of the Chapel.
Entering from the porch, there’s a spacious open plan lounge and dining area which is double height to the vaulted ceiling. The large windows provide picture postcard views in all directions. If you play the piano, why not try playing the old chapel organ? Our solid Mahogany dining table seats 8 with original chapel pew on one side and there is sofa seating for 6. There's a double and twin bedroom upstairs off the gallery landing while the third (double) bedroom is accessed from the living room. Each bedroom has comfortable beds with wardrobe space in each. The main bathroom, fitted with marble vanity unit, underfloor heating and rain shower is also on the ground floor, while there is a small WC upstairs. The separate kitchen is well equipped and newly refurbished, with an eye level oven. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate utility room. There is free wifi available, but, due to our rural location, please don't expect anything near breakneck speeds! Outside, there is a terrace and sizeable garden to enjoy the view or for the children to play. A small bbq is available for your use. There is parking for two cars, (three at a push!) on the property. Please note: towards the back of the property, there is a drop between the garden and the house, so extra care needs to be taken if you have young children in your group. There is no television. The property is accessed from the main A470 along a single track road with passing places..
Situated in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, we are surrounded by some of the most impressive scenery in the British Isles. With views of Mount Snowden and Moel Siabod from our garden, it is no surprise that an endless list of picturesque walks for all levels begin just at our doorstep. The house itself is comfortable and is equipped with all you may need for an enjoyable stay. We are also just a 20-minute drive from Betws-y-Coed with a good choice of restaurants and bars and just 10 minutes away from Blaenau Ffestiniog which is home to Zip World, Underground Bounce Below Caverns, Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Antur Stiniog Downhill mountain biking and the Ffestiniog narrow guage Steam Railway, to name a few. In addition, Portmerion Village, Mount Snowdon and Moel Siabod, Bodnant Gardens and Conwy Castle (to name just one of many castles) and some lovely beaches are all within a 40 minute drive. In the village of Dolwyddelan, there is a Spar shop which sells general provisions and alcohol, and two pubs/inns serving food and drinks for visitors.
  • This is a lovely quiet retreat away from everything, it's well equipped and has fantastic views of the Welsh countryside. A perfect place to relax on your own or with a few friends. Dog friendly with enclosed garden.

  • We had a great time at the chapel. It’s in a lovely secluded area. Our group of three adults and three kids was comfortable in the place, and Sian and Griff provided great tips for exploring the area. They also graciously allowed us to check in early to beat a coming storm, and were very responsive. The wifi was a little spotty but we were informed of this beforehand, and it actually added to the feeling of “getting away from it all!” No complaints—thank you for a lovely time.

  • Spectacular location and beautiful conversion.

    Oliver2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time. Sian and Griff were welcoming and knowledgable about the area. The chapel was clean, very comfortable, and the kitchen was great for cooking. It was great for the two of us but would sleep six very comfortably. The location was perfect for our hiking. We definetly recommend staying here.

  • The house is beautiful and spacious, perfect for a group of six adults for some walking in Snowdonia. The surrounding valley is stunning and it's only a 15 min drive from Betws-y-coed. Modern and clean kitchen and bathroom, and the house has such good character. Griff welcomed us on arrival and Siân popped out to meet us before we left, both lovely!

Room temperatures can be individually adjusted to your personal preference. The spectacular tunnel woodburner in the living/dining room gives a cosy glow on cold nights. The kitchen is fully equipped and benefits from woodland views through picture windows and a westerly facing patio to enjoy the evening sun. Whether you are planning a romantic break, an outdoor adventure or just to enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the Snowdonia National Park, staying at Glan-y-Gors is not only a holiday you will enjoy but a place you will want to keep coming back to. As you step out of your front door, you are greeted by the splendour of the Hafod Ruffydd waterfall with spectacular views of the nearby mountains. Miles of forest walks through stunning scenery await you. Picturesque Beddgelert village is nearby and the challenging routes up Snowdon a walk away. The Welsh Highland Railway meanders through the forest and the occasional whistles of the stream trains are always a joy to hear. After a day exploring the local countryside and attractions, what better than to come back to the comfort in your own forest haven. On clear nights the stars seem to shine even brighter in the ink black sky and you will fall asleep to the gentle sound of the river passing by or the hoot of the owls in the forest. Shop, pub and restaurant less than 2 miles.

  • Had a fantastic stay at John’s place. Fantastic location in an incredibly beautiful town. Great place to commence walks and very close to major tourist attractions like Snowden and other mountains. The whole town had some fantastic pubs and some great ales. Parking was incredibly easy as it was right outside where we stayed. Really good value for money Richard

  • The apartment is nicely kitted out with plenty of space for two. Couldn't be in a better spot, as is pretty much bang in the middle of Beddgelert so close to everything that you would need for your stay. John and Debs were contactable via the app at all times and responded promptly. Would recommend staying here for sure.

Tywyn, our lovely self-catering cottage, stands back a little from a country road, next to our own house, about two peaceful kilometers from the bustling, picturesque village of Beddgelert. It is a haven for walkers, city escapees, romantics and seekers of tranquility and peace, a truly luxurious getaway. We have furnished and equipped it to a standard that we would be delighted to discover if we were searching for extra-special holiday accommodation.
We have furnished it in beautiful fabrics and good artwork. Comfy settees and arm chairs round a living log fire. You have a bath tub in which you can luxuriate for a post-ramble soak, with the blissful anticipation of a snuggle in a comfy bed with soft linens under real feather-down duvets. If the outdoors beckons, the patio has comfortable cushioned seating, a barbecue for alfresco meals and just the spot for romantic sun-downers, under a super-large sun umbrella if you wish. When you first arrive, you will appreciate that you are truly in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, enjoying lovely mountain views from the cottage across wooded hillsides and sheep pastures. The river Glaslyn, offering salmon and trout fishing and summer swimming, flows from Snowdon, and is just a couple of hundred metres away. There is a friendly, well-stocked country store and post office in Beddgelert. You can walk from the cottage door into remote and beautiful hills or take the Sherpa minibus that serves the Snowdonia mountains and catch a ride back to your sanctuary. Great castles - Harlech, Caernarfon and Cricieth are all within thirty minutes drive. Portmeirion, the famously picturesque Italianate village designed by architect Sir Clough Williams Ellis, is a few minutes drive away. (You may be interested to learn that he was the architect who designed this cottage, Tywyn, which was built in 1947.) We offer beaches galore, cliffs, sand-dunes, sea caves, secluded coves and superb vistas, laced together by peaceful pathways, passing colourful harbours and friendly cafes to rest awhile. Bodnant Gardens, one of the most marvelous in Great Britain, will lure garden lovers. Oh, and there are good, challenging golf courses nearby, in unusually spectacular locations.
The cottage is in a wonderfully peaceful and beautiful area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you would like to wander along the striking river bank into the picture-postcard village of Beddgelert, there you will experience happy crowds of holiday makers and share, for a while, in their exuberance; and then be happy to wander back to your peaceful retreat away from bustle and business.
  • We have just had a long weekend at Tywyn cottage and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is so pretty and quaint, it had everything we needed, it was warm and comfortable, the pool is gorgeous. The cottage is set in idyllic surroundings, with so much natural beauty on the doorstep, absolutely stunning. Hosts are welcoming and of course know everything about the area. Thank you for having us.

  • If you want a well appointed place to stay set in the stunning surroundings of Snowdonia then look no further! Alan was a fantastic host to the 8 of us and even with 2 under 2’s the cottage was well suited to all our needs. Alan was gracious in giving us some recommendations for local places to eat and we were most certainly not disappointed. Most highly recommend if you want to get away for a while in the incredible landscape of North Wales.

  • This is a very special gem in the beautiful Snowdonia range. Alan and Ann have created a beautiful home from home environment which will delight visitors. They have thought of everything you need to thoroughly enjoy a wonderful stay. The pool was amazing and my teenage grandsons loved every minute of their stay whilst I was able to relax in a warm and comfy home. The scenery is just stunning and Beddgelert is a very comfortable stroll with lovely little shops and pubs to enjoy. We are already planning our return trip. Thank you both so much Alan and Ann.

  • Easy communication, very nice to deal with. Due to family emergency had to cancel trip, which was made easier by Alans understanding.

  • A fantastic house. The location is perfect. Utterly beautiful, and a gorgeous 2km walk into Beddgelert along the river. The house itself is great, very cosy, and full of lovely thoughtful touches. The swimming pool was fabulous - warm and clean and a big hit with the kids. All Alan's suggestions for walks and places to eat were spot on. Can't wait to return!

    Antonia2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This truly special property was one of the key ingredients to what made up an unforgettable weekend for my partner and myself. The photos don't do the place justice. Our short stay was the only disappointment. We are definitely coming back. The hosts are very aware of the area and they provided very valuable advice on where to go and what to eat. I like the maps that were spread on the walls of the hall of the house. The swimming pool is a real bonus, particularly after a very busy day of exploring the surrounding areas. The hosts were great with communication and they responded to questions very quickly. The cottage is set in beautiful grounds with great proximity to lots of amazing places and views. The hosts were very generous and invited us to have a wander in their beautiful garden. We highly recommend Alan and his partner. Thank you very much, Alan!

  • Great hospitality; communication from before the trip so we knew exactly how to find the cottage. Alan and Anne were so welcoming and give us great tips and ideas. Cottage is in a lovely rural location; great break away

  • This place is award winning and amazing! We have just returned from a wonderful stay here. Alan and Anne are fabulous hosts who have led really interesting lives. They are attentive without intrusion and obviously really care about being hosts. The house is comfortable and warm. The pool is wonderful for children a real bonus after cold autumn walks. The kitchen is really, really well equipped and the location is just fabulous. In the morning we were greated to fabulous misty views of the mountains. Best Air B&B we have every stayed in. Our toddler didnt want to leave!

  • Really enjoyed our stay here. Cute, tiny, cozy camping pod. Get it was slightly overpriced considering having to pay extra for internet, bedding and towels. Also limited kitchen with only toaster and microwave available to cook. Great location for exploring Snowdonia, we walked a short distance up the road to find the Watkin path for Snowdon.

  • We stayed in tent 2 for one night. It was a lovely little space to stay in with a wood burner and lovely cosy beds to keep you warm on colder nights. The decor was nice and there were little touches like blankets and hot water bottles. The view is also stunning! One thing that isn't shown in the pictures of the little shower room at the back past the beds, very modern and clean with a toilet and spacious shower with nice hot water. Would recommend 😁

10% DISCOUNT FOR 1 BEDROOM OCCUPANCY My cottage is old, quirky, quite unique and very original. If you like cottages with character you will love this. It is situated in a very quiet area but only a ten minute walk from the town centre and Ffestiniog Railway in one direction and the Llechwedd Slate Mines and Zip World Complex in the other. You can also walk straight into the mountains from the doorstep.
CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS - I take the safety of guests seriously and during this epidemic there is a free day between all bookings. All surfaces, door handles, key safe, hand rails etc are thoroughly cleaned and bed linen is being given an extra long wash. The cottage dates back to at least 1834 and is one of the few cottages to escape the regeneration scheme in Blaenau still retaining its lovely old sash windows. It is also interesting as it's one of the few cottages in Blaenau actually built of slate - which is what the town is famous for. It consists of a lounge/diner, kitchen, bathroom , double and twin bedroom. The lounge/ diner has two double settees, dining table for four and a FreeSat 32" TV with DVD player. There is a small library of DVD's, books and games available. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, fridge with icebox, microwave, slow cooker and sandwich toaster. The bathroom, unfortunately due to the sloping ceiling, has no shower but there is a bath with a hand held mixer shower and unlimited hot water available. The double bedroom is a very unusual shape with two pretty little windows and the twin bedroom is quite large with it's own wash basin. Be aware, there are low doorways, sloping ceilings in some rooms and steep stairs which all add to the charm of the property. Parking is available in a public parking bay about 5yds past the cottage and there is access to private enclosed parking if required. The cottage has gas central heating and WiFi. Towels and bed linen are provided and gas, electricity and cleaning are included in the price. The cottage quite happily accommodates 4 people but be aware it is only a small cottage. The cottage is available for 2 nights from November to Easter but there is a surcharge of £15 for cleaning for this short break. Please see other things to note.
The neighbourhood is very quiet and there is no passing traffic apart from the residents.
  • Fantastic host, gave so much information and advice around the local area, walks and attractions. Cottage had loads of character and was perfect for a weekend of walking.
