  • Top end, stylish cottage in a beautiful location. It feels very homely and somewhere you can’t wait to get back to after a day of exploring the nearby beaches and hills.

  • We spent a very relaxing few days at the cottage. It was lovely and warm despite the blizzards outside... and very well equipped. Would love to come back.

  • So warm and cosy in an incredible, beautiful and wild place.

  • Raven Cottage was so far the best stay me and my boyfriend had since we started traveing together. It was more beautiful than I imagined it to be. It was cozy, clean, quiet and you really have everthing you need. And I mean literally everything. Chloe has a wonderful taste and made sure that there is nothing missing. If we come back to this area we will definitely come back when we are around this area!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Raven Cottage. It was so cosy, clean and beautifully decorated. The location was perfect we loved our daily walk to the beach with our dog. Can’t wait to come back!

  • We had a great weekend at Raven cottage. It has everything you need including a well stocked kitchen and cosy living room. The location is 5 minutes walk from the beach and is a fantastic setting. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

  • We had a wonderful time at Raven Cottage. Chloe has amazing taste in interiors and has really made the space a home from home, with everything you might need in the kitchen, beautifully fluffy towels and linens and loads of books and games to keep you entertained in front of the fire. The area is outstandingly beautiful and we can’t wait to visit again in the summer.

  • A beautiful, sparkling clean house in the most calm pretty surroundings. A very well kitted out kitchens, plenty of utensils and lots of fridge freezer space. We enjoyed the wireless speaker and smart TV too. I can't recommend this house highly enough. We will be booking again.

Our house has an amazing view onto Oldshoremore Beach, which is just a few minutes walking distance away. It is a very calm area with more sheep and rabbits than human beings and is known for hiking and biking. The walking way to Sandwood Bay and Cape Wrath runs by the house, and it is as well a worthwhile detour from the North Coast 500 road. The house is fully equiped and offers a cozy atmosphere for hikers, taravellers and anyone who want's to retreat into scotland's wild beauty.
Our house offers enough space for families or groups with up to 10 people. The lower floor has two private rooms and two bathrooms, like in a normal family home. The second floor has a spacious open and bright room with a roof window to the west opening the view down to the Beach. The kitchen and one of the bathrooms have been renovated and transformed to an up to date standard. The living room offers a view onto Oldshoremore Bay that never ceases to fill me with awe and gratitude. The house is part of a croft on which we are starting a permaculture project, growing our own veggies, and the lawn in front of the house invites to sit in a chair and enjoy the view; if the weather permits. ;)
I have been part of many places arround this globe, and our house in Oldshoremore remains one of my favourite spots. The rough windbeaten landscape and the powerful presence of nature and its elements is what draws me back home. We live in a settling of about 15 houses looking down onto Oldshoremore Bay. The neighbours are friendly and always open for polite chat about the weather. As meditation practioners in Thich Nhat Hanh's Zen Tradition my wife and I enjoy the calm and withdrawn location so close to the Sea. Now we are starting to work the land and transforming the croft into a more selfsustained place. We enjoy to socialize with friends from Kinlochbervie and surrounding, some of them knowing my family since the house was build and feel blessed to be able to live in such a way.
  • Alexa and Daniel were kind hosts. The location is fantastic and the beach is a dream. We had the entire beach to ourselves at sunset and it was so beautiful. Alexa's tea collection is very impressive and I loved the homemade soap they left on our bed! The bedroom was warm and cozy (especially the electric blanket!) and we slept so well. We left early in the morning so the hosts left a note to help ourselves to breakfast. Nice touch! Thank you for having us! Justine & Nathan

  • Alexa and Daniel are not just amazing hosts, but beautiful people who made our stay super special and we thank them for this. Alexa provides an amazing breakfast which she prepares herself and an evening meal if required, which was totally amazing. The beach, within a short walking distance was serene and deserted making it feel like a private, peaceful place on earth. We will definitely return to stay again.

    Malcolm2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome people, amazing views, great food and the view from the house.. 5 stars hotels don’t give you what you can get by staying overnight in Alexa&Daniel’s house. Recommend. Would love to be back here!

    Marcin2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel and Alexa are incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts. The double room is simple but clean and comfortable with a view that would be hard to beat. We had a really lovely evening.

    Sally2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The two are really great hosts. We felt immediately comfortable. The breakfast was very good, the shower is awesome and Daniel helped us with our car when we got stuck. The view is very nice, but the beach is farther away than it seems in the photos.

  • Super night at Alexa and Daniel! They are very welcoming and warm. Great breakfast and of course great views!

  • This B&B is terrific, we had a great time there. Our hosts love to cook and the food is amazing! The house is really cozy, and so was the room. Really recommended when you look for an atmospheric stay during your route 500!

  • The accommodation thrives on the warm hospitality of Alexa and Martin. The breakfast and dinner are great. Especially the competent massage by Alexa is recommended.

  • Fantastic views and humble well loved home. Enjoyed my time staying there with other guests and a million books. I was very well looked after by Alexa and Daniel and would definitely stay again!

    Chantelle2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The two are absolutely adorable and refreshing. Alexa cooks like a goddess :) !! The view from the living room is fantastic! I think you get a good impression if you read the profile well. I found what I expected. Namely a brilliant place with everything you need, just in a modest way. I was impressed by the fact that I am gently aware of how well we all are> and that sometimes less is really more! Am also unforeseen stayed the same 2 nights, because I just felt good all around. On the first evening there was a cozy, shared dinner with other guests and on the second evening we had "storm free", so offered a cozy TV evening. It felt like home with good friends. The bed was very comfortable and I slept wonderfully! Thank you for the wonderful time with you !!!

    Elisabeth2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel and Alexa are great hosts, and, at a price, offer a delicious vegetarian three course meal for dinner. Their home in Oldshoremoor is full of life, character, art, literature, and an extremely warm, comfortable, dry living room ( wood stove included). The view of the coast and the beach, from the dinning/breakfast table, must be one of the most joyous views, to start /end your day with, in the whole of the highlands. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, which was extended from one night to four nights! Alexa also has incredible healing hands. She is a masseuse, who practices a number of different massage styles and techniques. I can strongly recommend her massage, especially after a few days driving around the north western highlands. A wonderful place to stay, in the wildest part of mainland Britain.

    Andy2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • It has been a wonderful experience, not only the accommodation but to meet Daniel and Alexa, I take 2 friends from Scotland, if someone is close and wants the best place do not hesitate to book it

Set in the wonderful north west coast of Scotland just off the north coast500 route but a million miles away from anywhere ! Ten minutes walk from the fantastic polin beach with oldshoremore beach and sandwood bay in the area is our home and yours Beachview bed and breakfast . Offering two luxury king sized beds (one has private entrance for dog owners) and a twin room in very peaceful surroundings Full breakfast on offer plus tea and coffee making facilities in each room Seaview from rooms
Great patio and gardens to enjoy the view and watch the sun go down over the ocean. this room is pet friendly for those of you that (like us) don't want to be separated from your furry friends! Unfortunately we cannot accept children as the garden would be unsafe
Very quiet part of Scotland with more highland cows than people ,local shop and fantastic restaurant which will also make your meal to eat here if you wish
  • One of the best AirBnB experiences we've had in Scotland. The host went out of his way to make us feel comfortable.

Sitting in a small friendly village is our lovingly recycled and upcycled holiday home with everything you need. Surrounded by many beautiful beaches - including Sandwood Bay - and for those looking for something more active, there are some amazing mountains to climb or cycle. We're also just a few miles off the North Coast 500 route. Enjoy the sunsets in the summer with a glass of wine outside. Or sit by the cosy log burning stove in the winter with a wee whisky.
Indoors accommodates 4 people comfortably, and outdoors there is a large decking area with table and seats. Another seating area has an outdoor fire.
Kinlochbervie is a small spread out village with a working harbour. The harbour and boats can be seen from the bedroom window. There is one hotel in the village and another just before - The Old School House - which we recommend. There is also a SPAR shop and general store and a small gift shop.
  • Beautiful views and a great location for walks. The house was perfect for cosy evenings in front of the fire

    Corinne2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little house which comes highly appointed with everything you could ever need. Its spotlessly clean. the beds are comfortable and the house is warm whatever the weather. This was our second visit this year and we will certainly be back in 2020!

    Maureen2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in a great location. The house has everything you need. Great beaches on the doorstep

    Stephen2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thistle Dae is a cosy, comfortable base for exploring the area, with everything you could need - I’d happily have moved in permanently! Bryan and Ann are very easy to communicate with. I wish we’d had the weather to enjoy your outside decking area, but it was not to be. Kinlochbervie itself was more industrial than I expected, but the surrounding countryside and views are stunning. As others have said, stick to Bryan and Ann’s recommendations, I can’t fault The Old School House at all, but cannot comment on the Kinlochbervie Hotel because, in spite of all the signs, they weren’t serving food of any kind. Thanks for a great stay.

    Jennifer2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Thistle Dae; it’s cosy and comfortable, there’s plenty of space and it’s well equipped for cooking. We loved the log burner! It was very quiet and peaceful. Lochinbervie might not be the most picturesque of harbour villages, but has its rugged charms and is a great base for exploring the stunning beauty of the areas on the north coast. Ann & Bryan have written recommendations of places to eat nearby - stick to them and avoid the Kinlochbervie hotel in the village. It’s good for a pint, but the food was very bland. The Larder in Lochinver was a favourite; wonderful pies of all sorts! We’d be very happy to return to Thistle Dae in the future.

    Maria2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 days at Thistle dae: the house is large and very comfortable, ideally located for visiting Sandwood Bay, Durness, Oldshoremore ... There is a Spar all next door. The stove is a plus when you want to dry laundry.

    Patricia2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spot that offers everything you need even for rainy days.

    Elisabeth2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A well equipped 2 bed house with everything you could need. In the village of Kinlochbervie. Handy for local beaches. Very quiet and peaceful. A great place to recharge your batteries.

Our cosy beach view cottage with stunning views of Oldshoremore beach in the Scottish highlands has everything you need. Sleeps seven people with three bedrooms, is a fully equipped self catering cottage and also has wi fi. If you need to get away for peace and tranquility this is the place with a cosy fire every night. Our cottage is on the famous North Coast 500 route . Also great for surfers , cyclists and hill walkers.
Our cosy cottage is small with lots of character which has seven beds but is more suitable for a family as small living area so would feel tight with too many adults . This is a traditional highland cottage which is comfortable for four adults in living area
Overlooking Oldshoremore beach which is simply stunning!! Other places close by are Durness where Smoo Cave is a must see also Durness zip line for the more adventurous!!! Cocoa mountain also serves the best hot chocolate and chocolates cakes etc !!! Smoo Cave Hotel open all day for food and Durness has some beautiful beaches also . Sandwood Bay is a beautiful walk and def worth it . Ullapool an hours drive from cottage . Also can get a boat to Cape Wrath before you reach Durness and Handa Island great to see the Puffins . For the climbers there is Ben Stack Foinaven and Ben Arkle . Also great for Cyclists who are cycling the NC500. Recommend the Old School Restaurant in Kinlochbervie great service and fresh delicious food !!! Make sure you book before you go .
  • Absolutely stunning location in a gorgeous little cottage. We stayed for Christmas as a couple and had a lovely time. The views were incredible and the beautiful beach was easily in walking distance around 10 minutes down the hill. Amazing walks all around the area Everything was very well thought out and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and other bits. As other reviews say, the only let down was the shower pressure but it’s not so bad and we knew to expect it. We weren’t aware in advance that the central heating runs from the fire but it wasn’t hard to work out and there were electric heaters to take the chill off in the meantime. We would gladly visit again and highly recommend this gorgeous spot!

    Anna2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lively little cottage. With two adults it felt quite full, so definitely best for small groups. The kitchen is well equipped, and with the stove and radiators on it was soon very cosy. The location is wonderful: a short drive from several lovely walks and beaches.

    Liz2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely traditional Scottish house with incredible views... we were blessed with idyllic winter weather and walked everyday. Little legs did well as the family and dog explores down to the beach and along the coast to other beaches... Cocoa mountain and Smoo cave hotel were musts for treats and food.... and the plastic at bay next to cocoa mountain is a must to see how plastic rubbish is being collected from the beaches and recycled .... Lovely holiday, would recommend.. did you’re like us an visiting in November stock up on thermals and wood for the fire..... can’t wait to visit this stunning part of Scotland again

    Eleanor2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cosy and homely with tasteful decor. The fireplace was great too. The location is superb as the landscape and scenery in this area is simply stunning, at times it felt like we were on another planet! Ok, it might have felt different if the weather was bad but we were blessed with four days of glorious sunny days with no wind. This made the day trip walking to the remote beach of Sandwood a pleasure, the silence was deafening and the scenery beautiful. My favourite was the beach on the doorstep, Oldshoremore which is about a 10 minute walk. Don’t hesitate to book this cottage.

    Heidi2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable house in an amazing and beautiful location. The views from the house were stunning and the walk down to the beach and around the area, lovely

    Kate2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • An old crofters cottage in an absolutely spectacular location. As with these old houses, we expected it to be small and it was, but absolutely perfect for the two of us. We had brought our two dogs along with us and were delighted to find an enormous fully fenced in garden for them to play in. The beach at Oldshoremore is spectacular and a perfect playground for the dogs.

    Ally2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our almost three year old daughter and my two parents (so four adults and a toddler) and had a wonderful time (even despite the fierce wind and rain). The living space is cosy but worked fine for us, and there was definitely beds to spare. We adored the views from the windows and the fireplace, although had issues with getting reliable hot water and pressure in the shower sometimes (it was hit and miss) and the only toilet is upstairs (so not mobility friendly but we were okay). My daughter and I walked to the beach even in the foul weather and it did not take long at all (maybe ten minutes down and up the sealed road). Overall we had a wonderful time and would love to stay here again :)

We have a flat joined onto our home a working croft overlooking Polin beach. Inside is a large bedroom wth ensuite bathroom, then a large open plan kitchen and living area. There is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, oven and hob, microwave, and a large TV with free view. Wifi is available but is slow. Outside has a private parking space with a table and bench for sitting at. No pets. We are three miles from kinlochbervie village but a five minute walk to Polin beach.
  • Annie’s Annexe is a well designed, brilliantly located self contained apartment attached to an original Croft house, with stunning sea view and 10 min walk to beach. You have everything you need to chill and relax after a day exploring the wonderful scenery and coast line. Great pit stop for the North Coast 500 and fantastic value for money. Annette the host is very friendly and helpful and very responsive to queries. No hesitation in recommending - looking forward to visiting again.

    Ann2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend to any future travellers staying here. Absolutely everything is provided, from a lovely comfy bed, plenty of fluffy towels to a kitchen that has absolutely everything! A lovely warm welcome and a sweet touch of some Prosecco in the fridge ready for your arrival and some fresh flowers. Also the WiFi is brilliant, I didn't get any reception but with a great WiFi strength I had no issues keeping in contact with the outside world when I wanted! The location is perfect. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful. A short walk to Polin beach. It's a hidden gem, the most amazing, clean and untouched beach I've ever seen. If you're looking for a break away from everyday life and some real peace and quiet located somewhere beautiful and with a cosy comfy well thought out place to stay then Annie's Annex is the one! You will not be disappointed. 👌🥰

    Emma2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time (4 nights) in the small, cozy cottage Annie. She is a great, warmhearted but reserved hostess. Your tips for a hike was great. We really enjoyed the time and would come again! Everything perfect!

    Cornelia2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Annie's annex was fabulous. Clean and cozy. The annex was equipped with everything we needed for our 2 night stay and more. The views were gorgeous to the nearby Bay. The area is remote but that adds to its beauty. It is very near to Sandwood bay reputed to be one of most beautiful in UK. Annie was very friendly and helpful. Would love to return o e day

    Sue2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • 5 minute walk to the beach, very clean and the bottle of Prosecco was much appreciated.

    Paul2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is perfect, with all the necessary equipment. We almost do not want to leave him especially in Scottish times. The location is ideal for shining in the area (sandwood beach in particular). There is everything you need to cook in the apartment if you want to eat out do not hesitate to go to the old school restaurant in addition they make to go!

    Linda2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Annie‘s annex is a new and very lovely apartment with stunning views to the Oldshore Beg Beach. Besides the view, the apartment was spotless clean, very well equipped (in fact we did not miss anything at all) and nicely decorated with a consistent “color theme” throughout the apartment. As already stated in other reviews, the photos do not fully capture how spacious and cozy the accommodation is. Parking is possible on the property just next to the annex. Annette was a very friendly, welcoming and generous host. There was a welcome present waiting for us upon arrival, Annette offered to wash our clothes, and she even left the outside lights on when we returned late from our trip one day. (Thank you so much!) Perfect accommodation for couples or friends who want to relax, go for a walk or simply enjoy nature. Checking-in was easy and flexible. Annette came round to welcome us and we always enjoyed having a chat with her. We can recommend visiting Sandwood Bay as well as the nearby beaches (there is a also a beautiful circular walk), and the region around Durness and Lochinver if you are ok with the drive. Thank you so much for hosting us!!! We are very much looking forward to be back :)

    Anna2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place is so nicely decorated. More kitchen gadgets and pots/ pans than I have seen in almost any AirBNB. The bed I’d one of the most comfortable I have found in Scotland. WiFi is fair. The ocean is part of the beautiful view from almost all the windows. There are several houses around but if you want to go to the store or anywhere to eat, it’s about a 15 minute drive. Annette even had a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the refrigerator for us. Great stay!

  • Beautiful location and very friendly and helpful hosts. The breakfast was excellent. It was also nice to have our own entrance to the property. We were there in November, and though cold weather, the beach was amazing. The countryside is breathtaking. The room had everything we needed. It's a very remote location so don't expect super fast broadband, but it was adequate. The breakfast was a fully cooked one with lots of choice. I thoroughly recommend Steven's AirBnB.

    Jim2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, absolutely loved the location. Some really stunning views. Steven was really accommodating, provided a spacious and clean room with a great choice for a cooked breakfast in the morning. Definitely want to revisit in the summer. thank you

  • I stayed at room 2 and it was upstairs. There is a big bath room and bath tub. In the bed room, king size bed and bath lorb and slippers made me luxurious feeling. We also chose what we want to eat in the morning and had a big breakfast. Thank you for your hospitality, Steven and Serrita

  • Spent five nights in the Polin Sands Caravan with my two young children. The caravan is immaculate and very well equipped, we wanted for nothing during our stay. Annette lives next door so was on hand for any issues. The stunning Polin Beach is less then ten minutes walk from the caravan. A lovely stay indeed!

Polin Beach House is positioned on the hill overlooking spectacular Polin Beach. The house is decorated to a high standard in pastel colours with a nautical touch. Very homely and welcoming. We have something to suit all holiday makers from fishing for salmon or trout, hill walking, Fionaven, Arkle and Stack or just exploring our beaches not forgetting Sandwood Beach. Pony trekking, kayaking and sea angling are also worth a go. Locally caught seafood is served at our Hotels and Restaurants.
The house is situated 3 miles from the fishing village of Kinlochbervie just of the NC500 route.
  • We were in Polin in early January 1 x couple and 1 friend. The coastline here is beautiful. It is quite an exposed spot in a Westerly wind, but the house is cosy and functional, just what we needed. The stove in the kitchen was great for drying us and our things out. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans etc., so we could cook and enjoy the long nights. In the calmer days we surfed and swam, and walked to Sandwood. Thanks Jane!

  • A fantastic place for those looking to get away from it all but with all the home comforts you need. A lovely house, close to a stunning beach and with fabulous scenery. Superb communication, before during and after our stay from Jane. Can’t recommend highly enough!

    Scott2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We are very happy with the accommodation. We could have stayed more than 2 nights. The house was beautiful and very comfortable, it feels like home and it is very appreciable. The little plus is the fireplace in the living room.

    Roselyne2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • You must stay here if you're wanting to find the secret beach that is Sandwood Bay. The beach house is perfect accommodation. It has everything you need. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Its clean, with fresh towels and comfy sofas and beds. Just what you need after a day of day of exploring

  • fantastic house overlooking a remote beach. super cosy and comfortable with all your needs taken care of. great walks and scenery from the doorstep. Jane made us feel very welcome and was on hand for any queries. we so enjoyed our stay.

    Sarah2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jane’s cottage at Polin Beach is very clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. In addition, Jane is a lovely hostess who showed us exceptional kindness and assistance. The area around Polin Beach is spectacular, but be aware it is also rather remote. There is great hiking in the area to go with the beautiful scenery, but dining options and other amenities are quite limited. There is no cell phone service, so be advised that you should contact Jane to coordinate your arrival long before you approach the area.

Newly refurbished previous family home. In a small fishing village, close by to all amenities. Garden space front and back with decking area. Private parking space. Oil heating and wood burning stove in lounge. Quiet area with mountain views.
Kinlochbervie is the most northerly port on the west coast of Scotland, and virtually the last place you come to before falling into the sea. It is 60 miles from the nearest supermarket, the cinema arrives on the back of a lorry (as does the bank), and has been short-listed by the Oxford English Dictionary as a definition of the word 'Remote'. That being said, it is home to a variety of people from all walks of life. Some born here, others who have chosen to come and live here. Surrounded by thousands of acres of unspoiled highland countryside, wonderful beaches, and fascinating wildlife; even the weather is just a little bit different to the rest of Scotland! Many people coming to Kinlochbervie do so en route to Blairmore and the start of the walk north to the magnificent Sandwood Bay. It is also worth bearing in mind that there are other gems on offer in the area, including the beach at Oldshoremore and the tiny village of Polin, complete with its own beach.
  • Lovely family house that will leave you wanting for nothing. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Tony2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This Hidden Gem lives up to its name. Beautifully situated in the stunning Highland area it is within easy driving distance to local tourist attractions including Smoo Cave and stunning beaches such as Sandwood Bay. The house was lovely and clean with thoughtful homely touches throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'll need for a self catering stay. Though we didn't need them, there are items including a highchair, bouncer and stair gates to make travelling with a little one a bit easier. Dorothy's communication was good, including a little message when we arrived. The welcome biscuits were an appreciated touch too! If / when we travel this far North again, we wouldn't hesitate to book this hidden gem once more.

We are just off the North Coast 500 route at Rhiconich, between Scourie and Durness, 4 miles from the fishing village of Kinlochbervie. We are surrounded by hills, mountains, rivers and lochs and only a ten to twenty minute drive from amazing beaches. The house is a 2 hour drive from Inverness and 1hr15 from Ullapool not allowing for photo stops! Breakfasts are freshly cooked and home baking awaits your arrival.Ideally located for exploring the north west corner of Scotland.
Room 2 has an ensuite shower room and king sized bed. We are ideally situated for walking, fishing and water based breaks. Guided walks and fishing available by arrangement. Fishing permits for local lochs and rivers (salmon and trout) can be arranged as can the hire of equipment and fishing tackle. You can walk out directly from the house and the long distance walk goes almost past our door. There is direct access from the house to the loch for canoes. There is a restaurant and bar within walking distance and a good choice of restaurants within a thirty minute drive. We are a ten to twenty minute drive from stunning beaches. Exploring the North Coast 500 route has to be one of the most scenic drives and our house is in a super stopover spot.
We are really lucky to live in the north west Highlands where people know their neighbours and the locals are friendly and welcoming (just let them pass you on the single track roads!) It is a beautiful and sparsely populated area where you can recharge your batteries. We are not far from a range of beaches such as Oldshoremore and Sandwood to the west and Balnakeil to the North. We are surrounded by walks of all levels from gentle strolls along the River Laxford to Munros.

On route to Kinlochbervie you will pass The Old School Restaurant this is about 1 mile from Kinlochbervie.
  • 1. The position is on the branch road about 10 minutes away from the nc500 main road. 2. The room is facing the lake, the scenery is first class 3. There are both freshly cooked Scottish traditional breakfasts (too much to eat) and yoghurt cereals, which are very rich. It’s just eating breakfast in the lake, but the scenery is good but it’s drying! We both ate sweat and couldn't open our eyes. 4. The landlord child is a bit shy and a bit bear 5. Remember not to take the room key! Not only can't they be used, they don't close at all. I still forgot to pay it back, so I drove back for an hour. 6. This is the most expensive family I have ever lived. However, accommodation in the highlands is generally expensive and can only be accepted.

The wagon sits in a protected field of wild flowers and many rare orchids; it is part of the endangered habitat, known as the "Machair". It faces out to the Atlantic Ocean, 6 miles off the NC500 route. My family can be recorded living and crofting here since 1755. A “back to basics” wooden wagon, with no electricity, running water, phone signal or shower. Once the land of Vikings and wolves. The wagon is decorated in a Scottish Victorian theme, and shall bring luxury and comfort for the hardy!
A wooden wagon, suitable for travelling guests with basic needs and who have a love for the outdoors, and an interest in animals, growing produce and traditional Scottish crofting and Scottish history. Live like they did back in Scottish Victorian time - with no electricity, heating, no internet and no running water!
This is a small crofting community, with crofters near by tending to highland cows and sheep and generally getting on with their day. The beach is just a few minutes walk away from the wagon and you may find yourselves the only people on the beach at times.
  • Vivien's wagon did not disappoint lovely homely welcoming place. Lovely hand written note giving an insight to her croft which goes back generations. Candles lit for our arrival bowl off fruit a bottle of prosecco. Lovely welcoming touches. Cosy wagon. Beautiful beach close at hand. Also the famous Sandwood Bay! . Certainly hope to make a return visit.

    Helen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Airbnb overflows with bland, repetitive, cookie-cutter places to stay. This, on the other hand, is a unique experience with a ton of character and a bit of adventure. The wagon is cozy and comfortable, surrounded by sheep and gorgeous scenery in a remote and peaceful location, there's even a beach just down the road straight out of a travel magazine. Anyone looking for out-of-the-way spots or hidden gems should stay here. Viviene was also an excellent host. She had several little touches that made it clear that she was both thoughtful and considerate. I arrived late on a cold evening, she had lit candles for light, put a hot water bottle in the bed, and left out a small bottle of wine! She also texted me ahead of time with all the details I might want to know when I arrived. Absolutely top notch service! A few practical considerations: there is no internet or wifi (which I viewed as a plus), the nearby town has a small market that closes at 8 pm, parking is just down the hill (2 minute walk), there is no running water (although several liters of bottled water we provided), and there is an outhouse just outside the front door.

    Mitchell2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend Vivien's place enough. It is truly the most beautiful place in the world and the wagon matches it perfectly. Vivien is incredibly hospitable and adds so many thoughtful extra touches. I would love to stay again!

    Rebecca2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The crofters wagon is in the perfect setting to provide its guests with a unique look into the past and what life was like back then. We loved every minute of this evening. Like camping but way way better!!!

Inchard Cottage nestles in stunning scenery near to Cape Wrath on the NC500. It's a cosy place with amazing views right next to a sea loch. You can explore the nearby mountains lochs and beaches, go kayaking or fishing, or have a game of golf, but if you prefer some quiet unwinding you can simply relax and watch the wildlife in the bay outside your French windows. Although the scenery is wild and dramatic and feels remote it's also easy to find food stores, restaurants and filling stations.
Inchard Cottage is ideal for extended groups of family/friends as it has (as well as the main dining/kitchen area) 2 separate living spaces giving teenagers or grandparents a place of their own to escape the hurly burly of the rest of the group. It has it's own independent access door from an outside decking area and kitchen facilities. Next door is the downstairs shower room and double bedroom. The cottage also has a further separate downstairs toilet.
Inchard Cottage is remote but well connected! There is easy access to famous mountains and beaches. There is fishing, adventure sports, golf and historic sites nearby. Food and fuel are available within a few miles and it is perched right on the NC500 route.
  • Well equipped, comfortable, stylish and clean house house in a superb location for exploring the North West coast. Watch the seals out the window while you have breakfast and look out for the otters. The host was very helpful and responded to queries very quickly.

  • A fantastic house set amongst some incredible scenery. Was a quieter time of year up that way but it gave us the perfect place to disconnect from daily life and recharge. The house is extremely well set up for a family of four - it’s spacious, warm and cosy and has all the amenities you need. The thoughtful touches left for us we’re really appreciated and Jenny was extremely responsive to any queries we had. It was a long way to travel for us but it gave us just what we needed. Highly recommend!!!

  • We are just back from staying 3 nights in this gorgeous cottage. Jenny was a fabulous host and was very quick in replying to messages. The cottage is beautiful and very spacious. My two children loved having a room to themselves and were delighted to find a hamper full of toys to play with. The views are just amazing and we look forward to staying here again. • Absolutely recommend this. The cottage is beautifully presented and a gorgeous space. The rooms are sparkling, well thought out and very comfortable. And the view is wonderful. Lots to see in the surrounding areas. A thoroughly enjoyable stay...wished we could have stayed longer!

  • We had a wonderful week in Rhiconich. The house is spacious, comfortable, warm, very well equipped and full of nice touches. It is set in the most stunning location with spectacular views out over the bay. Despite its remoteness it is well placed for many interesting days out. The beaches nearby are unbelievable. We can thoroughly recommend Sandwood Bay and Oldshoremore Beach - both are amazing. The house has several iconic mountains more or less on its doorstep - we climbed Ben Stack - incredible views. We also had a day out on Handa Island - fish restaurant next to ferry was great. Smoo cave on the north coast was also well worth a visit. Communication with Jenny, our host, was simplicity itself. She replied promptly to our queries before our arrival and left us to it once we got there. There were super-clear instructions about everything in the house and local attractions so we didn't need to question anything until we left! I had been to the far NW of Scotland a couple of times before on roadtrips 30 or so years ago so I was dying to show my children (three girls 16-21) this part of the UK. They had a fantastic week and loved the house. Highly recommended.

  • Enjoyed a wonderful nights stay in Kinlochbervie, as part of a stopover whilst cycling the NC500. My bicycle was accommodated in the shed. Ate at the local hotel which is about a 10 min walk or 2min cycle. Breakfast was excellent. Very generous portion.

Enjoy the splendid isolation of the most unspoilt & remote parts of Britain, this charming cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all. Whether you like walking, climbing, fishing, stunning beaches, beautiful mountains or just thousands of acres of untouched wilderness this is the place for you. The cottage sleeps 8 (1 master en-suite double, 2x bunk beds, 1 double) comfortably but can sleep 10 if the sofabed is used. Saturday is a non-check in day - unless by prior arrangement.
This cottage is a much loved family holiday home. It is located in one of the remotest parts of Britain. It is almost at the end of the most northerly road on the West Coast of Scotland. Its only In fact about a mile from where the road on the west coast stops. The house has beautiful sea views down the West Coast which is particularly stunning in the evenings, and backs onto thousands of acres of untouched land that is owned by the John Muir Trust, as the conservation area of Cape Wrath, including the magical Sandwood Bay. This makes it a very unique place; unspoilt, beautiful, peaceful but also far away from the nearest urban centre (Inverness is 2.5 hours away to the south) and as such expectations of services and facilities available must be seen in this context. There is a local community here, and there are shops/grocery stores and fuel available nearby. There is even a local doctor, fire truck, police and ambulance, but there is no multiplex cinema, supermarket or shopping centre. This is its charm and rarity. People come here for the natural setting and to get away from the stresses and strains of modern hectic living. It's also located at a latitude of 58.6 degrees North and because it is on the corner of Britain (the name Cape Wrath is derived from the Old Norse 'hvarf' meaning turning point) the weather can be unpredictable and as such its never going to be the Costa del Sol - but when the sun does come out it is amazing and beautiful. Even on windy days the elements are exhilarating, the beaches empty and the cottage has lots of hot water, warm fire, tranquillity, lots of books to read, and is a very relaxed place to rest up from the cares of the world.
Local Shops & Services General stores: The nearest general stores are the London Stores (cash only) at Inshegra (just south of Kinlochbervie). This shop is an amazing treasure trove and Irwin can usually accommodate most requests. The other nearest general store is the Spar between the New and Old Harbour in Kinlochbervie. It takes cards, can provide cash back, & is open 7 days a week. There are also general stores at Durness and Scourie (both half an hour away). Durness has a 24/7 cash machine outside. The Garage in Kinlochbervie has most hardware items as well as coal and a fuel pump. The Ship Chandlers at the harbour stocks some hardware items, a good array of outdoor clothing as well as most things needed for fishing. Fuel: The Garage at Kinlochbervie is the nearest fuel but during opening hours only. There is 24/7 fuel available at Durness and Scourie. Bank: The mobile RBS bank visits Kinlochbervie on Thursdays Doctor: The Kinlochbervie Medical Centre is near the Garage in Kinlochbervie and is open mornings and afternoons but closed on Thursdays. Cafes: There is the Worth A Look Cafe (run by Tanya Morrison) next to the Spar in Kinlochbervie Harbour, and the Old Schoolhouse Cafe and Restaurant at Inshegra. Hotels: Both the Kinlochbervie Hotel and the Rhiconich Hotel welcome day guests. Vet: The nearest vet is in Rogart near Lairg.
  • What a beautiful place! The cottage is lovely, filled with family memories. It's like spending holidays in your favourite aunt's house:) It has everything you need to comfortably spend a few days. We visited in February, it was on the chilly side, so we definitely appreciated all the warm blankets and hot water bottles. The location is spectacular. We read through Katie's notes about the things to do in the area and made the most of the dry and sunny (-ish) weather spells. The path to Sandwood Bay Beach starts right behind the cottage, which is very handy! We will definitely plan to go back to Blairmore and hopefully, we'll be lucky enough to stay in Katie's cottage again.

    Monika2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this stunning location, rural and quiet, with beautiful beaches and great walking opportunities right at the doorstep, amazing views from each window of the house. The house itself is spacious and the decor and furniture are basic and plenty, and have a rural charm. The kitchen, albeit not the most modern, is well equipped. We visited in November and if you come during the winter months, bring a cosy sweater and some warm slippers - we all got treated to hot water bottles from the owner which was perfect for the night. The main heating sources are electrical radiators and an open fire in the living room, for which all used wood/kindling will need to be replaced at the end of the stay (as well as all other consumables). The three bedrooms are basic, but comfortable. The bathroom facilities are sufficient, although there are only bathtubs and no showers. All together a great hideaway from the world with everything you need. Would definitely come again!

    Markus2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We do not have a word to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the cottage. A small house full of memories and very warm. Very spacious. The children enjoyed the games and the books. Katie is very available and sent us all the instructions for our arrival and our stay (local address, doctors, trade ...). If it was not so far from home we would stay there again. moreover the geographical situation is so beautiful.

    Agnes2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you look for a unique cottage in a unique area, this is the place to be. A cottage full of personal treasures from the beaches nearby and touchable memories of happy days spent by the owners in this area. Although we visited the cottage mid October, it was comfortable and warm. We were also happily surprised by the weather. Every day of the seven days we spent in Blairmore we could be outside enjoying the amazing scenery. Lots of wildlife around, like deer, otters and even a minke whale. We would love to come back sometime in spring!

  • This is a wonderfully situated cottage which has a lovely feeling of being lived in as a family home in the best sense. It was relaxing, comfortable and had everything we needed for a great few days. The view to the south, with Suilven in the distance, is stunning. Excellent location for walks to local beaches or further afield to Sandwood Bay.

My home is a tranquil place , with a super comfortable bed and a free complimentary breakfast tray of cereal and bread rolls as well as coffee, tea and biscuits. We are situated in the picturesque village of Kinlochbervie. You’ll love my place because of the views and the outdoors space. Good for couples, solo adventurers and families. Good home cooked traditional meals are available in local restaurants very nearby. Safe dry storage space for bicycles available.
Stunnning scenery surrounds our house, rural setting, slow gentle pace of life.

  • This is a stunning B&B with exceptional cleanliness and comfort. The breakfasts were of the highest quality and we certainly didn't go hungry. Our hosts were so nice, helpful and accommodating. They have thought of everything (toiletries, towels, bathrobes - even slippers!). I couldn't fault the hosts or the accommodation at all. The walk down to the beach is a lovely relaxed walk (after the walk up the driveway :) )and the views are stunning from the rooms and the decking area, binoculars supplied! The view at night of the stars is breathtaking. Steven even checked the weather forecast for us to see what our best day for walking to Sandwood Bay would be. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this B&B

Room 1 has a king sized bed with ensuite shower room. We are ideally situated for walking, fishing and water based breaks. Guided walks and fishing available by arrangement. Fishing permits for local lochs and rivers ( salmon and trout) can be arranged as can the hire of equipment and fishing tackle. You can walk out directly from the house and the long distance walk goes almost past our door. There is direct access from the house to the loch for canoes. There is a restaurant and bar within walking distance at Rhiconich. We are a ten to twenty minute drive from stunning beaches. There is a good choice of restaurants within a 30 minute drive, transport can be organised by prior arrangement. Exploring the North Coast 500 route has to be one of the most scenic drives and our house is in a super stopover spot.
We are really lucky to live in the North West Highland where people know their neighbours, locals are friendly and welcoming ( just let them pass you on the single track!). It is a sparsely populated area which allows you to recharge your batteries. There are nearby beaches at Oldshoremore about a 15 minute drive and Sandwood about a 20 minute drive to the end of the path then a good hike! Balnakeil is about 25 minutes North. We are surrounded by a variety of walks from a gentle strolls along the River Laxford to Munros.

  • We stayed one night at Susan’s place and were immediately made to feel very welcome. The room was comfortable and sparkling clean and the access to a living room was a bonus. Susan knows the area and NC500 route extremely well so make sure to pick her brains as she knows all the best places to walk and visit. If you like wildlife, this is a great place to stay - 3 deer outside the drive as we headed off for a lovely meal at The Old School. Would definitely stay again.

  • We only spent two nights at Ardbeg, and wish we'd booked more. The surrounding area is really very picturesque with excellent walking to be had. Susan was a great host, and prepared lovely cooked breakfasts and provided us with maps and local information for where we could go walking. If you've never been to the North-West of Scotland, add it to your list and you couldn't find a better place to stay than Ardbeg.

The house has an amazing view onto Oldshoremore Beach, which is just a few minutes walking distance away.
  • Alexa and Daniel will always hold a special place in my heart. What a wonderful experience I had at their home. Firstly, the breakfast will blow your mind. It was so much better than I expected - I highly recommend you book dinner with them too! Alexa is a great cook. The location and views cannot be topped. I also booked a 1.5hr massage with Alexa too (she is a trained masseuse) and Daniel also played guitar and sang for the last 30mins (if you want). It was incredibly relaxing. I spent three nights and could easily have stayed longer. The house is old from the outside, but do not let that deter you (they are painting/updating the outside). The welcoming feeling you get the second that front door opens will stay with you forever. It was great to have long, deep chats with Daniel, Alexa and other guests. The hosts have an amazing life story and wonderful future plans. Thank you again and I hope to see you in the future, my friends :)

  • Alexa and Daniel are great hosts. They make you feel welcome at their home and Alexa makes the greatest breakfast and dinner! The view from the house is amazing. I would definitely love to come back again one day.

  • I loved my stay here. Daniel and Alexa are wonderful hosts who create a fun and hospitable atmosphere, so it's more like staying with a group of friends than in a B&B. The location is fantastic with views down to the beach and bay of Oldshoremore. Just sitting in the living room, equipped with binoculars, and enjoying the scene from there is great. We watched a school of dolphins in the bay one evening. Alexa's food is fantastic. All in all, a fabulous place to stay.

    Andrew2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • A charming place with a splendid view of the oldshomore beach. A food full of colours and flavours. Daniel and Alexa receive with warmth and kindness and the exchanges are rich.

  • A wonderfully welcoming couple based out of a charming house with amazing views of the North Atlantic - there was so much to love about Daniel and Alexa's place. Throw in a hearty breakfast included in a very reasonable price (and a tasty veggie evening meal for a little extra) and it's the perfect place to stay for anyone looking to explore the gorgeous scenery of the Highlands. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

Breakfasts are freshly cooked and home baking awaits your arrival.Ideally located for exploring the north west corner of Scotland.
Room 3 is a twin bedded room with a new en suite shower room. There is a guest lounge looking out to the river and mountains. There are two other rooms listed separately both with king sized beds and en suite shower rooms. Tea/coffee and cake are available on arrival and breakfast is served in the guest lounge.
We are lucky to live in a stunningly beautiful part of the country. The house is ideally suited for exploring the local area with lots of walks of varying difficulty, some of which can be started directly from the house. The beaches at Oldshoremore and Balnakeil are within easy driving distance as is the River Laxford. There is direct access across the field to the loch for canoes. We are surrounded by lochs and rivers ideal for trout and salmon fishing which we can arrange for you. Cyclists are welcome to store their bikes in the garage overnight. As we are just off the North Coast 500 it is also an ideal stopover whichever direction you are travelling in.

  • Susan is a wonderful hostess. She has a lot of knowledge of the area and gives great tips for a car ride or walk. Nothing is too much for her. She has a great living room with a view of the lake, which you can use. The breakfast is delicious. Everything was great!

  • Susan was really friendly and had lots of tips for things to do on our route down the west coast. Location was superb, right on the NC500 and room and breakfast were great.

  • Whenever you think I can get better, it gets better. The welcome is great with cake and tea and the breakfast is great too. Andrew (son) does that really great

  • The host, Susan, really does think of everything to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. Lovely en-suite, guest lounge and garden to sit in wildlife spotting, and beautiful location. Delicious homemade cake on arrival and homemade bread for a very hearty cooked breakfast. Would not hesitate to recommend Ardbeg House for a stay in the area.

  • Beautiful property really tastefully decorated and Susan was an amazing host. Arrived around 9pm and was welcomed with a stunning piece of homemade lemon drizzle cake. Very good sleep and woke up to the most amazing full cooked breakfast, local black pudding and homemade bread. I m a chef myself and the homemade bread was some of the best I ve ever eaten!! Good Susan would love to come back keep up the great work 👍

The house has an amazing view onto Oldshoremore Beach, which is just a few minutes walking distance away.
  • I stayed at Alexa and Daniel’s for one night during my two week road trip. I wish I would have stayed longer! As for hosts, Alexa and Daniel were the warmest hosts I have ever stayed with. They welcomed me and made me feel at home. From delicious food, to thought provoking conversations, to relaxing in the living room watching a movie, you will have it all at Alexa and Daniel’s. If you are road tripping it and need a place to recharge, this is your place. If I am ever in Scotland again, I will not miss coming to stay at Alexa and Daniel’s.

  • Alexa & Daniel are fantastic hosts whose home is in an idyllic setting with magnificent views of this rugged coastline. Clean and cosy with excellent cuisine prepared by Alexa - all made my short stay an outstanding one. Highly recommended - I'll definitely visit again.

  • Alex and Daniel were very welcoming and friendly. Their home is a great place to base yourself when exploring the North West

    Kate2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of an air bnb. It had a great vibe as soon as we entered the house. Daniel and Alexa are such warm and welcoming hosts and conversation with the couple and the other guests flourished around the dinner table over a sunset view of the beach and a delicious dinner cooked by Alexa. The accommodation is basic but the feel of the place is so warm and friendly it was a highlight of our trip around the highlands.

  • Morag is a friendly host and with good advice, the bathroom and the room were clean. It seems to me that there is only one restaurant in the area, in the previous village, 5 minutes by car, where you should book (you eat well)
