Holiday Rentals in Piddinghoe

Just booked in Piddinghoe

A light and spacious room detached from the main house. It has its own entrance and is set in a beautiful, sub tropical garden with a hot tub that can be used by guests. 15 mins walk to Ovingdean beach and 10 mins drive to Brighton town centre.
Our garden room is detached from the main house and has its own private entrance. It has an extremely comfortable, double bed with the most luxurious duvet, oak floors and a bathroom with a large walk-in shower and beautiful stone tiles. We have recently installed a Smart TV with freeview and DVD player and there is a large selection of DVD's to choose from. The garden room was recently built and completed in 2012. As the room is detached from the main house, our guests can come and go as they please and are welcome to enjoy our stunning garden and exclusive use of the hot tub which is cleaned and maintained regularly for guests. Please let us know in advance if you might like to use it as it is not up to temperature all the time and cannot be guaranteed. Breakfast is included and there are also tea and coffee making facilities including a small fridge in the room. We have a little boy, Harrison, who is 8 and is very respectful of our guests but you may see him using the garden on sunny days. We are situated in Ovingdean, just outside the city of Brighton. It is a very old village with an 11th Century Church just a short walk from the house. We are very lucky to have the Sussex Downs on one side of us and the beach on the other, just a 15 minute walk away. Ovingdean beach is reached via a flight of steps and has a large stretch of sand when the tide is out and is great for rock pooling. There is also a little cafe, open on sunny days, that serves tea in proper mugs and homemade cakes & bacon sandwiches! There is a local shop just up the road which sells the essentials like bread and milk etc. We are about a 10 minute drive from Brighton city centre and there are buses that go from the seafront.
Ovingdean is a little bit of countryside by the sea. It is quiet and beautiful yet so close to Brighton we get the best of everything.
  • Virginias room was very lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the room was light and beautiful. She showed us how to use the hot tub which is just outside the room. It's a 10minute drive from Brighton town centre, and very easy to get to and from, but a long walk if that is your plan. I would recommend staying to anybody wanting a romantic break in Brighton!xx

  • Virgina was very welcoming and helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable. The garden room was perfect with a very modern and clean en-suite. The room has tea/coffee facilities and also has a selection of fruit it even has a DVD/T.V with lots of DVD’s to choose from. When we first arrived we were welcomed by a beautiful tropical looking garden, which was lit up with up lighters and looked absolutely stunning even this time of year. Virginia cooked us a lovely and tasty breakfast each morning where we got to sit outside looking over her garden and even offered us patio heaters. Last but not least we got to use the Hot Tub one evening, which is located just outside the Garden Room and it really made our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Brighton or the surrounding area. Thank you very much Virginia for being a great host and letting us stay in your beautiful B&B.

  • Plenty of information prior to arrival. Lovely room in a beautiful garden. Virginia has put a lot of thought into her guests comfort.

  • Fantastic space, good location and great host. Close to Brighton and the hot tub was a real treat. Breakfast was excellent; Virginia was helpful and very friendly.

  • Virginia was a wonderful host with a beautiful family home. I don't know that there is anything that I can say negative about our stay. Virginia has thought of everything. The most beautiful garden, fresh flowers in the (actually very private) room and even a little mini bar facility. Just amazing

  • A v. nice welcome. Easy booking in and a perfect room in a quiet garden. Recommended for the S Coats and the Downs

  • A cozy compact garden room with the most beautiful garden we have ever seen! We stayed 4 nights with my spouse and 3 years old son. He enjoyed it a lot, I do not think of comparing it with a hotel room. This place has everything you need; B&B, private bathroom, separate entrance, free parking place, kettle, small refrigerator, hairdryer... Brighton is only a short bus ride away or 10 mins drive so we had the best of both the beautiful Ovingdean and busy city center! (Street car parks are quiet expensive in Brighton.) Virginia delivered a lovely breakfast hamper to our door in the mornings and did a thorough cleaning every day. We would not hesitate to book here again if our way passes through Brighton in the future. Thank you Virginia and Chris!

    Abdullah2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Virginia's lovely garden room was a little slice of heaven after a 64-mile trek from London to Brighton! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was gorgeous, and Virginia and her husband were wonderfully friendly, welcoming hosts. The hot tub was a real treat, and a delicious breakfast in the stunning garden was the icing on the cake. I'd love to stay in the garden room again, and will definitely be recommending it to friends and family.

The use of sympathetic but modern materials produced an extraordinary dwelling, allowing the rural landscape to be visible from all the large windows. • Absolutely everything about Rhoda and Christian, their cottage and their property is serene, peaceful and bucolic. My mother and I truly enjoyed staying here. Rhoda had the best croissants, jam, and blueberries! The cottage was immaculate and smelled of lavender and mint. We enjoyed the local pubs, the walks, visiting Lewes, and resting with the sounds of nature and the wood stove lulling us to sleep. I would recommend this to anyone. I would recommend trying to bring a car if possible but we used the trains, taxis and buses which were just fine.

    Julie2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our studio stay for our anniversary was more magical than we could ever have expected. Rhoda goes above and beyond in the little details - beautiful design, tonic in the fridge, gourmet yoghurts for breakfast... the full works, we felt like kings! We took public transport from London, no need for a car round here. Plenty of privacy in the studio, but Rhoda is also super-responsive and offered to drive us to the train station. It was easy to cook simple meals for 2 on the hob. We visited in mid-winter gales, but the studio was snug, warm and cozy. I hadn't quite realised they live 2 minutes' walk from the national park, and a day trip walking along the famous Seven Sisters cliff was only a short bus ride away. We went to Lewes (1 train stop away) for our anniversary dinner - must make reservations during weekends but was a beautiful, architectural town to visit! Definitely recommend for a walking, relaxing or exploring holiday.

  • The hosts were great, very flexible and accommodating to our needs which could have been a challenge. The accommodation it self is really lovely and very comfortable indeed. Lots of soft blankets and a wood burning stove if its cold and a pleasant decking outside if its warm.

    Helen2014-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had three lovely days in this wonderful studio. I cannot praise it highly enough. Rhoda' combination of hospitality, thoughtfulness, easy-goingness and discretion is rare and was very much appreciated. The studio is a calm space, beautifully decorated and perfectly equipped, whatever your purpose ( we went to Glyndebourne, only a ten minute drive away): there are maps and guide books, tips fro walks and rambles, what's more, they are up to date! The small kitchen area is fully equipped for breakfast and simple meals, and we were welcomed with great fresh bread, summer berries (even extra ones to take for our picnick), there were eggs, milk and honey, tea and coffee. The bathroom is perfect and clean, clean, clean. Oh, I almost forgot, the view from the terrace is astounding, the chorus of sheep in the early evening was deafened only by the song of a wren. We will most certainly be back. Thank you Rhoda for the great care and effort that goes in to making it all seem so untroubled and comfortable. And good luck with the Forge!

    Riet2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our first ever experience with AirBnB completely exceeded any expectations that we had in mind when booking a few days break away for some peace and quiet. This was entirely due to Rhodas extremely thoughtful and well presented Garden Studio in an idyllic location nestled in the countryside of the South Downs, yet just a short drive from the coast. From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, Rhoda you were nothing short of accommodating and understanding via texts which was greatly appreciated, thank you. The Garden Studio itself boasts a small but pristine and functional kitchen area, a luxurious bathroom with a power shower and heated towel rails along with a display case filled with an ecletic array of items to gaze at. The bed is very comfortable and served its purpose well in providing a good nights sleep before exploring the surrounding locations or just gleefully wasting a few hours resting and gazing up through the perfectly positioned skylight. The fridge and cupboards were stocked with goodies, including and as mentioned by others, breakfast items which could feed you all day every day during your stay, including a jar of Marmite! Reading material provided ranged from delightfully humorous to elegant plus an abundance of local information with ordnance survey maps for rambling explorers and cyclists alike. There is building work underway close by but to be honest their sounds were barely noticeable and didn't drown out the sounds of birdsong or chattery sheep in the valley in the slightest. All in all, Rhoda, you provided a tranquil getaway location which caters for a short break perfectly. All that anybody needs to bring with them is a toothbrush and change of clothes as everything else is provided by yourself and we cannot recommend you, your hospitality or Garden Studio highly enough.

    Ian2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely time at this gorgeous garden studio. Rhoda was really friendly and helpful, and everything in the cabin was perfect, from the great views, cosy woodburner, comfy bed and lovely treats in the fridge - all in all a delightful dwelling to explore the South Downs straight from the door.

    Caro2014-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Rhoda is an excellent host, with great attention to detail. The studio itself was lovely - clean, bright and situated in a lush garden with a great view of Ouse valley from the small porch. Breakfast foods were top notch, and Rhoda was very accommodating and helpful with maps, info about local hiking routes etc. Newhaven Town is not very fun (or pretty), but as the studio is literally bordering the South Downs, it's a great base camp for hiking or day trips in the area. All in all, we had a great stay!

    Josefine2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The location was great for going to Glyndebourne opera, and a short drive the the seven sisters national trust. Beautiful sightseeing and a truly breath of fresh air. We'll happily return there. Thank you Rhoda for hosting us so well.

Top floor, light and spacious double room with fireplace in character Victorian house with garden. The room has a comfortable double bed, painted floor, large bay window and original Victorian furniture. I am close to trains, buses, ferry, beach and hill walks.
I am a yoga teacher and massage therapist so can offer you one to one yoga lessons or a relaxing massage in a lovely quiet warm space. I am also a great cook and will make you a delicious evening meal if you give me enough notice. The house has a garden and a really friendly cat. The house is quirky, old and a little inconvenient, interesting and shabby. I need to point out that the bathroom is in the basement and the bedroom is 2 flights of stairs up so it is not suitable for anyone disabled or infirm. I have had new windows fitted since writing the above so it is much quieter now but in the summer the seagulls can be noisy. So bring some earplugs if you are sensitive to noise.
Newhaven is on the outside just another industrial small town but has a great beach and cliffs, is only minutes away from the Ferry terminal to Dieppe. Brighton is 30 mins away by bus or train and the historic town of Lewes with it's castle and ancient windy streets is 10 mins by train. I am only minutes walk away from the beautiful downs and river walks.
  • Suzanne's comms was great from booking to arrival, the house, I would say, is in the 'Boutique' style of accommodation, very clean and welcoming and certainly full of positive energy and atmosphere. The location is central in Newhaven, close to bus stops to Brighton, (30 mins trip @ around £5 return) with local restaurants and pubs giving a choice of menu's and food. The room is large, bright and spacious and free access to the kitchen was made available by Suzanne, (and Asbo the cat, who is 16 y o and definitely NOT in need of an Asbo lol). Breakfast was just as I needed and Suzanne was sure to ensure I had my preference of cereals etc Other guests have commented on the road noise, but as Suzanne is having brand new double glazed windows fitted in April this really won't be an issue in the future and didn't really bother me anyway

    Patrick2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne is one of the most friendly AirBnb host I have ever encountered! She did everything she could to make me feel at home.

    Daniel2016-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is warmfull and kind. We felt like at our house and she always was listening to us.Our room was nice and very clean. The bed was confortable. Linen and towels were very clean. The bathroom is very pretty and it's such a pleasure to have a bath! The breakfast was very convivial, we talked like old friends. Susan was upset because we were late. She phoned us, sent a sms and an email to know if something was wrong. It was so kind of her! We are sorry, Susan, we should have phoned to you but the train was cancelled and we were snowed with tiredness and had no phone only sms. Sorry!!!!! SO : we are VERY SATISFIED and Susan is A PERFECT HOST.

  • Lovely host and a warm Person enjoyed staying in a nice cosy quiet house for 6 days will definitely stay again

    Abs2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at Suzanne's house. We were ships in the night so only met once but she left excellent instructions for the Wi-Fi etc, kettle with lots of lovely tea in the bedroom, and emergency contact details. The house was warm, the bed was cosy and the bathroom is a delight. Suzanne puts on an excellent choice for breakfast too. I would definitely stay here again for business.

    Sara2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

I love my quirky house. Mainly for the peace and the beautiful view. A perfect haven for a holiday retreat, walking holiday, or right on the Avenue Verte if you are cycling London to Paris. Two brand new bathrooms this year, one with a chemotherapy spa bath, the second with a good shower, make this a fabulous base for adventuring and relaxing.
PLEASE VALIDATE YOUR ID (passport or drivers licence) THROUGH AIRBNB BEFORE YOU SEND A BOOKING REQUEST. This house is all about the view but I've tried to create a lovely space inside too. The larger bedroom has a white cliff, sea view from the bed and doors that open onto the garden. It's magical. It gets the morning sun, even with thick curtains, so bring an eye mask if you are a light sleeper. It's next to the blue bathroom which has a great spa bath. The second bedroom is a bit smaller but still a good size. It feels warm and cosy with antique furniture and a very comfortable bed. I've decorated it to suit the period furniture. It has a garden view and gets the afternoon sun. This room has a double bed but there is also a single mattress you can put down if there are two of you and you prefer not to share, or for an extra child. This is why I've listed the house as 5 bed but please note that the 5th is just a mattress on the floor (a good mattress though). Let me know if you want to use it and I'll make it up for you. The yellow bathroom is upstairs and has another toilet and a good shower. No queuing for the bathroom in the morning! There is good Wi-fi connection throughout the house. The house is upside down and split level so the bedrooms are on the ground and 1/2 floor. There is only a track behind the house so no road noise. It's so quiet it's almost impossible not to relax while you are here. Guests always leave feeling refreshed and recharged. I live in the house and am renting while on holiday so there is my stuff in the wardrobes and chests of drawers but I will clear space in both rooms so you can unpack. A basic breakfast is provided but it is 'help yourself'. I will leave cereal and spreads out and milk in the fridge. There is also a breadmaker and I leave flour and instructions so you can set the machine yourself for fresh, warm bread in the morning. PLEASE VALIDATE YOUR ID THROUGH AIRBNB BEFORE YOU SEND A BOOKING REQUEST. I don't take bookings without it and it will save us both some time. You need to follow the steps on your profile to validate your passport or other ID document. Sometimes guest report that it's slow to load. It will tell you that it's not worked but really it has. Just wait 10 minutes and check again. Thank you.
I chose Newhaven over Brighton when I was house hunting for its tranquility, beautiful cliff top walks/runs and quieter beach front. I think this is what you'd come to this area for. Safe in the knowledge that Brighton is only nine miles and a convenient bus ride away if you fancy some entertainment. It's a residential house in a residential area so there is only one small corner shop nearby. No coffee shops or delicatessens next door and it's a 15-20 minute walk into town. I have got a good coffee machine though so you can make your own coffee and not many cafes have such a good view. My house is about a 5-10 minute walk to the cliffs and this is the only stretch between Brighton and Newhaven where the housing does not come right down to the cliffs so you can really enjoy the peace and uninterrupted sea views. The closest place to get into the sea for swimming is Newhaven West Beach (20 min walk or short drive/bus ride). Tidemills, on the other side of the harbour, is also a popular spot. Newhaven itself is a rather downtrodden little town cut off by a crazy ring road system. But I still really like it. The town center has a Post Office, small grocery store, bakery, cafes, restaurants and several shops. Everyone is really friendly and it is a real community. There is a bigger Sainsbury's just over the bridge if you are staying a while and want to get a big shop in. There is also a great and very inexpensive beauty parlour (Bodyhaven) where you can get treatments and fabulous massages if you want to complete your Haven experience. The 90 minute hot stone massage is wonderful. These are my favorite things to do from my house (in no particular order):- 1). Walk or run to Newhaven docks by the cliffs top route (about 30 mins walk) and buy fresh fish straight off the boats from the harbour shop. Then walk or catch the bus home and cook it for tea (or sometimes kippers for breakfast). I feel like I've been out and caught it myself. 2). Walk 5 mins down the path to the road and catch the Number 12 (or 12A) bus into Brighton for shops, dancing, restaurants and the pleasure beach. Parking is a nightmare in Brighton but the bus is great. 3). Drive or catch the bus the other way to Seaford. Walk over Seaford Head to get the world famous white cliff view of The Seven Sisters (tourists walk on the Seven Sisters but locals know to come here to get the view!). Continue on to beautiful Cuckmere Haven (about 1 hour) and have lunch at the pub there. You can walk back the same way or catch the Number 12 bus back. The patch of beach under Seaford Head cliffs, just past the sea break is also good for swimming. 4). Newhaven Fort is about a 20 minute walk over the cliff tops from my house (or 5 min drive from the town center). The gun placements are on the cliff top by the Coastguard tower but the fort is hidden into the hillside. I cannot recommend the Fort enough for an informative and entertaining few hours. Walking into the Fort is like finding a hidden world, the war history displays are excellently done, the tunnels into the cliffs are dark and spooky (kids love to be scared in here) and there is a play area and cafe. 5). On summer mornings I love to run/walk over the cliffs towards Newhaven then scramble down the one safe place in the cliffs (just below the Coastguard tower) to get to Newhaven West Beach for a morning swim before breakfast. 6). If you are very fit you can walk or run straight out of my house to the cliffs, turn left and follow the cliffs (via Seaford and Beachy Head) all the way to Eastbourne (about 20 miles) then catch the Number 12 bus back. The wind is almost always behind you in this direction. It's the best day out ever. 7). If you turn right at the cliffs instead it's a shorter, but still beautiful walk on the undercliff path to Saltdean where there is a cafe set in the cliffs for lunch or coffee - or keep walking all the way to Brighton. 8). Historic Lewes is a short train ride away. 9). Sit in the garden or on the sofa and look at the white cliff view, or the ferry lights at night. 10). Did I mention the 90 minute hot stone massage?
  • a beautiful english house with the best view from the couch in the living area. Nice small garden. Alison was not there but she told us everything we had to know. We had wonderful days there and I hope we have a chance to come back. Alison a five star host.

Alison kept in touch during our stay and seemed very approachable even though we never required any assistance.

Enjoy the nature of the South Down's National park, right on the doorstep of this awesome ranch. It's large, comfortable and benefit's from being private - (and not overlooked) It's a twenty minute drive to Brighton Pier, and 5 to the local beach. Please only apply to book if you have at least three reviews. My home is my pride and joy and that's what I need for peace of mind. Thanks 🙏
The ranch sit's on an acre of land and directly backs into thousands of acres of pristine national park The friendly warm kitchen is made for socialising. Like most of the rooms it has garden/nature views. There is a large patio at the front – perfect for socialising. It also has french doors open to a tiny back garden with a big BBQ. The kitchen benefits from underfloor heating, a super comfy sofa, and all the little bits – coffee maker, blender, juicer, Smeg fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. Bedrooms There are 4 bedrooms: An incredible master bedroom [with burner and views], 3 smaller comfortable doubles and a guest double mattress that can be pulled out in the living room. It will comfortably sleep 10 The Living Room The Living Room has 2 sets of French Doors onto the garden, wooden floors, and is the perfect zone for chilling out. Bathrooms Small toilet upstairs, second downstairs with shower and another downstairs with bath. Parking The drive will take 10 cars without too much squeeze. Stocking Up If you are stuck for essentials and - uh-hum – wine, a Tesco Express is 3-5 mins away in the car. There is also a large Co-op in Peacehaven. However, Brighton is close enough to head over there. The Marina has a giant Asda, or mooch around the lanes and grab a load of healthy stuff from the health food shop.
I love the nature and the quiet. The garden is full of beauty spots.
  • Brilliant airBnB for gatherings/groups. Beautiful house in amazing surroundings, views from the roof Terrace across the South Downs and to the sea the other side. Andy is really friendly and hospitable, we would be back in a flash!

  • Andy's place is amazing. Beautiful house in an amazing location with stunning views. The house is spacious and clean, perfect for our group of 10 people. Communication was easy and we'll definitely look to stay here again!

  • This is a truly marvellous house and location. We had an absolutely fantastic weekend here to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday (late February) with her friends. It exceeded all of our expectations and is a wonderful place to stay with a warm and relaxed vibe. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and perfect for group meals which my son (who is a chef in a top London hotel) provided for us and was very impressed with the facilities. There are no close neighbours which gives a real feeling of privacy and also no worrying that the kids are too noisy or their music too intrusive. Andrew is a lovely host and easy to communicate with and willingly took care of our needs and even left a much appreciated bottle of red wine for us grown ups. The views are beautiful and the top bedroom is perfect for morning yoga! I'm sure we'll be back. Would love to see this place in the summer... Big thank you to Andrew.

  • Wonderful secluded location atop the South downs, perfect for retreat or partying. Andrew is a friendly and kind host. Sunsets, peace, nature .

    Alice2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect location for a xmas getaway over the holiday period - spacious, comfortable and peaceful. Huge kitchen which was the hub of our time there cooking and socialising. Views are wonderful and uninterrupted (imagine even greater in summer) but still close to Brighton and coast.

    Jason2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location with beautiful views, can easily taxi into the centre

    Alice2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house for big groups. Lovely big kitchen for eating and drinking, and a big garden with no neighbours to disturb. Andy is a great host, and responded straight away to any questions we had.

    Lydia2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's home is beautiful, cosy, and in a magical setting. We spent only two nights but wished we had stayed longer. The house was clean and very comfortable, and was the perfect place for our family holiday. There are many country walks at your doorstep, a beautiful coastline only 5 mins drive away, the hustle and bustle of Brighton within 20 minutes, and much more. Though we did not meet Andrew he was very communicative throughout, and very helpful during our stay. I highly recommend it to all future guests!

Peacehaven is exactly that!! Only a 5 min walk to a stunning cliff top walk and the views from the Meridian line along the coast can be dramatic and breathtaking. The cafes are great for that early morning fry up but if you dont fancy that, the local co- op and Sainsbury meet all your requirements and stay open till 23.00. There are several cash points, a post office and two local banks. The flat is adjacent to the main coast road, making the buses to Brighton and Eastbourne easy to catch. They run very frequently and are reasonable. Ask for a City Saver and you travel as much as you like that day.
  • Jenny was so lovely and accommodating. Xx

  • Jenny's flat is a lovely modern place. The flat feels very homely and clean. It's a five minute walk from the cliff path which was lovely to walk along. We got a bit confused finding the car park initially - it is immediately on your right after turning into Keymar Avenue.

    Angharad2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny has been the most wonderful host, right from initial inquiry, to check out. • The room is cozy, tidy and clean, with a separate toilet. Marek is a very nice host, and gave us some useful tourist information.

    Qunfang2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Marek is a top host, he could not have done more for us. One of the best hosts we have experienced on Airbnb! We felt very comfortable and welcomed by him. A top host offering us tea, coffee breakfast and a good and interesting chat. He was very accommodating, allowing us to check in early as we were off to Love Supreme festival! Marek lives very close to the festival and it was super convenient to drive to festival (about 13 mins easy drive) The room and bed were comfortable, own private entrance and bathroom (a big plus). All was clean and comfortable. I will definitely be back next year for Love Supreme festival and to stay at Marek's place!

  • Although this let is compact. It is well thought out with many little extras and parking on site and very near to entrance. We have been pleased to find this "let" and have returned several times

    Jean2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This let is located in a peaceful area on the East Sussex coast within easy reach of Brighton. It is very compact but as we have been caravaners we found the space adequate with easy access although probably would not be suitable for people with severe walking difficulties. we are very senior folks ourselves in our mid 80's and 90's of small stature and had no problem. The entire new let has been well thought out and well equipped. Tastefully decorated and both Daniela and Olly are very helpful hosts. We have booked to return next month.

    Jean2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and great value with future vegan options We stayed here for 1 night for a vegan festival in Brighton. Very easy to find (around 20 minutes from Brighton) very quiet and free parking which was very handy. The accommodation is compact, but has everything you need and is very well designed. Daniela & Olly were very friendly and gave us great communication (the only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is that we don't think air b&b is 100% robust- we sent an email that wasn't sent). On check out, we had a chat about offering Vegan options such as shower gel and hand wash not tested on animals as well as alternative milks. Daniela was very accommodating and confirmed they will be doing this. This was the only reason for "good" rather than "great" review overall, but this change will certainly push the ratings up :) Vegans- this place is certainly worth a 2nd look

    Jai2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely pair hosting! Very generous and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, comfy getaway :)

    Jade2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Daniela and Olly's place is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Olly was there to meet us and show us the facilities. It is way too far to walk into Brighton but on the flip side, the area is very quiet at night and the area is well serviced for buses into Brighton which take about 25 minutes. Excellent value for money.

    Sally2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This Annex property was a great place to stay while in Brighton for work. With your own kitchen and bathroom plus a parking space it was more like a little flat which made it a much more comfortable stay than a hotel/B&B. It is a few miles from town, too far to walk, but it is well served with regular buses within 5 minutes walk. The cupboards are well stocked with tea/coffee, breakfast items etc but there are also shops and takeaways nearby and Daniela and Olly are really friendly and helpful. Two guests might find it a little cosy but for me it was absolutely perfect.

    Catherine2017-09-27T00:00:00Z

  • Mary and her husband were very helpful and welcoming and this is absolutely the ideal spot if you are wanting to catch the ferry. I was surprised to find that I was to share a bathroom with 4 total strangers and, as I needed to park my car in a very limited carpark at the ferry terminal, I had to leave no later than 7am so unfortunately I had to forego breakfast as well.

  • A great. comfortable bed and some genial hosts. Don't expect a modern fittings in the bedroom just yet, but it looks as if those are on the way, with a nicely equipped modern kitchen and conservatory, and another room being decorated A great breakfast with Clive, who has some really good homemade plum jam and marmalade on the table. Bice pot of tea, too. This was my first AirBnB and I was very pleased. Thank you, Mary and Clive

  • Mike was a fantastic host! We were late in arriving as we were cycling to Newhaven after a full day of travel, and it was so convenient when Mike met us at his garage ready to safely store our three bikes for the night. We were able to grab some food from the large Sainsbury's a short walk away and use the kitchen for our meal, which we then enjoyed in Mike's very lovely garden. He kindly allowed us to use his washer, as after cycling all day, we needed a change of clothes and he was very kind and accommodating. Mike was ready to answer any question and help us out with all our needs. The bed's were comfortable and amenities excellent and very clean. In the morning he provided a breakfast par excellence with pastries, cereal, yoghurt, coffee and tea. We really enjoyed our quick stop in Newhaven and the easy travel to the ferry with our bikes was so convenient. It was definitely an excellent value stay and I would look forward to returning to Mike's in Newhaven again!

  • Jack and his cat Max are really friendly and nice. He managed to leave his keys somewhere for me because he was at work when I arrived. He gave me some wonderful advices about visiting the area (seven sisters cliff and where are the best views). I recommend his house !

  • Jack & Celia are excellent hosts and Max the cat is very loving and friendly. I had a nice relaxing stay for 4 nights and I could come and go as I pleased. Breakfast & coffee was appreciated and got the day off to a brilliant start. The bedroom was a good size and nice and comfortable. I'm staying again shortly and looking forward to it. Many thanks :-)

  • Jack is a really warm and conscientious person. My visit in Peacehaven and my arrival in UK was fantastic due to Celia and him. I'm nice to have met them. They are a friendly, energic and funny couple. The house is clean and well-kept. Max (the cat) is lovely too. And Peacehaven and the area is a good place to be in calm, near the sea, with all you can need (commercial centers, bars, take away..) and not far from brighton. I will probably come back with friends... Hélène B

One Double Bedroom | Victorian Mid Terrace House | Free On-Street Parking | Front & Rear Garden | Rear Garage | 2 Dogs | Local Shops | Transport Links | Fort | Ferry | Beach | Restaurants | Pubs | South Downs
    • Close to Local Shops & Restaurant. • Opposite the Fort. • Walking distance to Bus Stops. • Walking distance to Newhaven Train Station. • Walking distance to The Beach. • Close to The South Downs.
Newhaven doesn’t reveal its secrets immediately, but take a little time to explore the town beyond the A259 and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the wealth of attractions on offer, from the Napoleonic Fort guarding the beautiful beach to Paradise Park and Dinosaur Safari. It’s got great pubs, cafés and restaurants, a clutch of little specialist shops, and the location can’t be beaten, with easy access to Brighton, London, the South Downs, the Seven Sisters – and even France on the ferry. MARINAS Newhaven actually has two marinas – one is on a branch of the Ouse River, and populated with house-boats and paddle steamers that look as if they’ve sailed here from the Mississippi. There’s a more upmarket marina at West Quay, with smart yachts and a swanky tower block apartment complex, still with a great deal of old-fashioned charm. FERRY TO FRANCE Since 1851, there’s been a regular sea route to France from Newhaven. The ferry sails three times a day to France and back. Enjoy a civilised crossing to Dieppe, eat dinner at one of the seafood restaurants surrounding the port, stay Friday night, then pootle around the fabulous Saturday market, buying your own weight in cheese before catching the 6pm ferry home. WEST BEACH Even on the hottest day of the year, you’ll still have loads of space to spread your towel. West Beach is the only sandy beach on the South Coast until you reach Camber Sands, but it’s owned by French company NPP, who quibble about the crumbling breakwater and insurance, so there is a fence preventing access to the sand, the breakwater and the lighthouse. However, swimmers can still enjoy a swim at low tide on the sandy beach on the east side of East Pier. FORT Newhaven Fort was completed in 1871. It is the largest work of coastal defence built in Sussex and a vital element in two World Wars. After the Second World War the fort fell into disrepair, however it has been restored and is now an award-winning visitor attraction. The exhibits are excellently put together and children will love all the tunnels, passageways and gun-turrets. Have lunch in the 1940s-themed Fort Tea Room and make a day of it. SHOPS Newhaven has a secret gem – a Sardinian delicatessen, L’isola Buona, run by Lucia. She gets fresh breads, cold cuts and cheeses from the Mediterranean and makes the best coffee and sandwiches in Sussex. West Quay Fisheries – known to locals as Bickerstaff’s— sells gorgeous scallops, oysters, sea bass and lemon sole, arriving at 5am each day from their own boats. RESTAURANTS The Italian-run Luna Rossa at the Marina is always buzzing. Locals come for great coffee and traditional fry-ups. In warmer months, they open up the double doors and spread out on the sun-trap terrace, offering panini, pasta and pizzas. At the top of the High Street, Newhaven Coffee House is a friendly venue, with seats out on the pavement, great coffees, teas and cakes. PUBS There’s no shortage of watering holes in Newhaven. I think I counted eight, and the historic Bridge Inn at the bottom of the High Street is due for renovation, when it will be taken over by the legendary brewery, Harvey’s of Lewes. Down at the beach, The Hope Inn does the best fish and chips in town, and, if you’re lucky, you might get to stroke Pip, the biggest dog in Sussex. The Ark, overlooking the Ouse River, is famous for its superb tapas. There are also weekend festivals with barbecues and live bands. ATTRACTIONS Paradise Park is a gigantic garden centre with everything you need for your back garden of Eden. The spacious complex in the leafy outskirts of Newhaven also has a Planet Earth Museum with a collection of fossils and crystals, and a Dinosaur Safari, delighting the little ones. Newhaven Local & Maritime Museum next door displays the seafaring history of the town and an expansive photo collection shows old Newhaven. GREEN SPACES Newhaven is a really green town and we have the South Downs on our doorstep. On the cliffs above the beach, Castle Hill is a local nature reserve, where wild creatures thrive in the dense bushes. It’s a great place for foraging, with blackberries, sloes and wild apple trees. In the evening, Riverside park teems with hundreds of wild bunnies, their white scuts bobbing through the long grass. On the eastern side of the Ouse river, Tide Mills is another nature reserve, with the ruins of an old flour mill and village.

  • There was David when I arrived and I had such a warm welcome. Lovely two dogs, the garden and the lovely attic room I stayed, everything was perfect. Such a good location close to the town centre, the quay and the beach at the bottom. I had a little heat stroke and ended up going to gp in Newhaven. While waiting for the appointment I had a nice relaxing time with David, two little dogs and his lovely neighbour Gin having a chat at the garden. I could barely see Linda as she's busy bet she was nice too. It was definitely a pleasant stay here.

A comfy and modern double room in a beautiful house on the South Coast. The house looks on to the famous South Downs National Park and is also just a few minutes from the coast. Great transportation links, including a bus stop 5 minutes walk away which will take you anywhere on the South Coast including into Brighton within 20 minutes.
Lovely bedroom at the front of the house which is full of sunshine during the day. The room is quiet, peaceful and has a workspace area with WiFi. The room has a comfy, clean, modern design.
The house is in Peacehaven and backs onto the South Downs National Park. There are many lovely countryside walks and cycle and running routes which start only a few minutes from the house. It's only a 10 min walk to the beach and there are beautiful cliff top and coastal walks nearby. The bus stop is a 5 minute walk away and will take you to anywhere along the South Coast, including: *Brighton Marina (15 mins) where there is a cinema, bars, restaurants, bowling, casino and gym. *Central Brighton (20 mins) which has lots of exciting things to offer; theatre, restaurants, nightlife including great LGBT scene, markets, tourist attractions, etc *Newhaven (10 mins) with the train station, harbour and ferry to the continent The historic village of Lewes, Glyndebourne, Cuckmere Haven, Charleston, Saltdean, Eastbourne, Seaford, Hastings, etc There are large supermarkets locally, farm shops, and take aways.
  • Lovely place with lots of character. Would highly recommend. The public transport was close but took a while to travel in to central Brighton so I would recommend to those with a car or a lot of time to get about etc. Lovely home, amazing pets, fantastic host!

  • Thank you Jason you are a great host and your home was a lovely surprise very clean and as per photos and in an easy location to catch the early morning ferry to France from Newhaven, I would highly recommend it regards Kerrie and Greg

  • Jason's home is beautiful. Very nicely designed. The room was a good size with a small double, perfect for me and the work station area was useful for setting up my laptop and getting a bit of work done. The kitchen/dining room area is stunning and looks out on to a lovely garden. It was a nice summers night when I stayed so I bought in some food and ate out in the garden which had comfortable/clean patio furniture. One thing that might not be for everybody is the cats .. he has two hairless sphynx cats that are VERY curious and will follow you around and pop up in unexpected places. I loved them though but maybe not everyone's cup of tea. I would recommend staying here!

    Steven2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Jason while working in the area. He wasn't in when I arrived but left clear instructions of how to get in and make myself welcome. The house is very clean and modern with all the amenities available to use. Jason had left me space in the fridge for my food and also found space for my cycle which I take with me. He was always very friendly and keen to offer any advice on the are, not that I saw much due to the horrific weather whilst there! There is wifi in the room which has a very comfy bed. Last but not least we come to Ziggy and Calvin the cats! These boys are just adorable and made my return one every night something to look forward to, willing to give as many cuddles as you needed! I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here if in the area.

Family Holiday home in the beautiful village of Piddinghoe in between Lewes & Newhaven. Situated next to the village church & 50 meters from the River Ouse. Direct walking straight onto the South Downs from the front door. Lovely bright conservatory & wood burning stove in front room.
  • This is a charming cottage in a delightful hamlet on the edge of the river Ouse and at the foot of the downs. Great walks from the house, easy access to the sea, and to Lewes and Brighton. A really great place for a few days break, only a short drive from London.

    Harriet2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was set in a very quiet and beautiful hamlet. There's nothing there but a church, a river and a library in the telephone box but there's loads to do in the area and shops / pubs close by. It suited our family well as with teenagers sleeping late we didn't have to fight over the one bathroom. The house is comfortable and homely and the information provided by the owner, Martin, was accurate, helpful and made us feel at ease. We went in the summer but would love to return sometime to use the fire. I think it's a great family space but would also make a lovely romantic get away snuggled on the sofa.

    Helen2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, and amazing place with lots of character. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you

    Maira2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Martin's home! The house itself was very beautiful, and its location was perfect for us. It is definitely a nice place to stay if you want to explore this part of Sussex!

    Christina2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely old and cozy cottage with more than enough space for our family of 5. The cottage is located along a small river not far away from Newhaven. The contact with Martin, the owner, was very nice, uncomplicated and accommodating. We can highly recommend this house and would definitely come back if the opportunity should arise.

    Armin2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Martin sent us detailed information before our trip, which was very useful. We were really impressed with the cottage, it felt more like a real home than just a holiday place, with lots of lovely art work. We really felt privileged to be allowed to stay there. Everything was clean and welcoming, with lots of room, easily enough for 6 people. And the location is so idyllic, it was hard to imagine we were close to a "main" road. Just be careful if you use satnav to get there, as my satnav kept trying to send us across an unmanned manual railway crossing which was clearly only intended for pedestrians! All in all, I was very glad to have chosen this cottage for a couple of days of exploration of the area.

    Lieve2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a one week stay in the cottage, it was as Martin had described; homely with enough space for a family with children. And the location was excellent for exploring the area. Martin provided prompt and detailed communication to ensure our stay went smoothly.

  • It is near bus stop and the ferry; the room is in the loft; it is newly carpeted. It is very clean. The hosts are very friendly. The bed is a single bed, but there is another mattress under which can be pulled out to sleep two. The bed is sufficient for a traveler(s) of not too big built. The decoration of the room is nice. There is a Chinese side table and rocking chair. The kettle is 70s which is very nice to use( fun). It is a room with character. Because it is Loft there is a ceiling window which does not have curtain. I had no problem with it and slept soundly. The hosts are very friendly. They made my stay a comfortable one.

  • I can highly recommend Charly's cabin for the perfect weekend escape. Such an easy journey from London (1 hour on the train from Clapham Junction with a short change over at Lewes) Charly was an incredible host, leaving out breakfast goodies and other treats for us. The location is perfect for walking and we did a 4 hour hike from the cabin to Bishopstone which was beautiful. A 30 min walk from the cabin is a lovely pub, The Abergavenny Arms where we had dinner on the Saturday night. If you are looking for a great spot to stay for the weekend then Charly's place ticks all the boxes. Immaculately clean, great location and very friendly host.

  • Charly was really welcoming and helpful. She happily suggested some cycling routes, where to eat and things to do. The lodge is clean and has everything you need, plus it was the perfect base for us to cycle to Lewes and get the train to Brighton. I'll be recommending the lodge to my friends and family for sure!
