Quirky cabin in secluded location with private deck to sit and watch the fish swim by. Comfortably appointed with en suite shower room and underfloor heating. Within easy walking distance of the centre of the unique rural market town of Hungerford. A hidden gem.
This hexagonal cabin is situated at the end of our garden in a secluded and peaceful location. The cabin comprises a 25 square metre bedroom with vaulted ceiling and en suite shower room. The space is comfortably appointed with King size bed, sofa, easy chairs, underfloor heating, tv, coffee machine and free wifi. Outside there is a private deck overlooking the river where you can sit and look out for kingfishers.
Hungerford is a small and friendly market town with plenty of interesting history for those so inclined. It benefits from lovely walks and its open common land is home to lots of interesting wildlife, fauna and flora. Take time to visit the myriad of antique shops and to try the fare at many of the excellent eateries in town. For those who like to burn a little more energy, there are many excellent on and off road cycle routes to try - just ask us and we can recommend something to fit the bill. We also have good access to two renowned long distance footpaths, the Ridgeway 10 miles to the north and the Wayfarer's Walk, 5 miles to the south.
  • Can’t recommend this place enough. Felt welcomed straight from the off, very thoughtful and kind hosts. The space was just right for me and the bed was super comfy. Recommend walking along the canal to Bedwyn was a stunning walk, was proper chilled all weekend

  • Hilary is a brilliant host and made our first air bnb experience very enjoyable. The cabin was extremely comfortable and very clean. Will definitely be returning.

  • Hilary is a fantastic and thoughtful host and the way she has presented the cabin is outstanding. The surroundings are stunning and couldn’t fault our night there.

  • Hilary and Richard are the most amazing friendly hosts, made us feel very welcome and relaxed, the little barn by the river is stunning, the bed is so comfortable and everything is beautifully clean, with lovely little extras, tea, coffee, fruit biscuits etc really nice touches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend we hope to go back in the spring. Thank you both for a perfect little getaway. Denise and Alex

  • Hilary was the most wonderful host, such a beautiful place and spot. Coffee machine great touch and beautiful linen. Riverside deck and chimnea so perfect in the evenings. Had the best stay. Highly recommend and hungerford is so lovely to explore. We were left to our own devices but Hilary made us very aware that she was available anytime for anything. Felt truly at home.

    Deborah2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious and warm cabin just a short walk from Hungerford high street. Hilary and Richard were very helpful in recommending walking routes and also places to eat. Great country get away weekend!

    Lewis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hillary and Richard are absolutely brilliant hosts. The thing we liked was that they are happy to chat if you’d like or give you space and privacy if you need. The Barn sits at the end of their garden and is far enough away from their house that you have your own little world and don’t feel on their turf (or them on yours). There’s a little balcony that overlooks a river, an en-suite shower and toilet, and a fridge, sofa and desk, and most importantly a Nespresso machine which went down really well. The Barn is really well insulated and we were toasty warm even in winter. Hillary and Richard are warm and welcoming, inviting you into their home for breakfast as if you were an old friend, but are happy to bring food to you at the barn (or leave you to your own devices) if you’d rather. They were very generous, going above and beyond, even giving us a lift at one point. We had a lovely time, the location was perfect for Hungerford, and we’d make a trip back in a heartbeat.

Set close to the main house in breathtaking countryside. Perfect country to explore on foot or by bicycle along the Kennet and Avon Canal or National Cycle route 4. We have fast roads to Swindon 20mins, Newbury 15 mins, Hungerford 4 mins and Marlborough 10 mins and only 6 mins to Junction 14 of M4. It's more shabby chic than luxury as we sadly don't have an open fire but underfloor heating, good beds and great views. Kids love playing football and others table tennis. We have lots of space.
Large barn conversation with high ceilings. One large double and one small/child single. Double doors open onto your own terrace for breakfast or suppers. The garden is great too for picnics or you can just move tables around and dine in open countryside.
We are wonderfully situated for the historic towns of Hungerford and Marlborough but easy distance to Newbury, Andover and Swindon, all about 30 mins from us. Open countryside with good walks, wonderful pubs, good restaurants and wonderful cycle routes. It feels like being on holiday every day. There is a local swimming pool and a tennis court 6 mins drive away. If you like the theatre there is the wonderful Watermill in Bagnor (20 mins) and the Marlborough summer school which offers people classes in a variety of skills as well as concerts and exhibitions. At Easter the Newbury Spring Festival is wonderful and the bookshop in Hungerford are always holding literary events. In Great Bedwyn the local shop and post office offers delicious bread which can also be ordered. Cobbs our local shop is a first rate Farm Shop with in the summer months, "pick your own" and all year round truly delicious cheese counter, butcher, fishmonger and florist - if you time your visit you might find they are holding an open air cinema event. In Hungerford the shops are great too with White Coco, Libby Blackley, Roxtons and Bow House designs. Antiques are a huge draw in Hungerford with lots of shops and an antique parade. There is a Catholic Church in Hungerford as well as CofE and many other faith churches. Highclere is close by (20 mins) as is the Sandham Memorial Chapel where you can see the stunning Stanley Spencer murals. Wolf Hall, although private flats now, it is possible to view from the outside and it still gives one a good impression of Henry VIII meeting Jane Seymour - it is about 15 mins away from here. Crofton Mill on the Kennet and Avon canal is a steam (beam) engine still working today and has been for 200 years. You can get to it by following the tow path at the end of our drive.
  • A great stay as always. My third visit with more to come

  • What a great space tucked away in the North Wessex downs. We spent a long rainy weekend in this place and had a great time. So cosy with a nice view over the field.

    Luke2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Bloody loved it. Perfect place to hide away from a manic life. Peace and quiet at last. Lovely place. Perfectly decked out. Ten hour sleeps in the sublime bed, hours of solitude to read and some great runs in the glorious hills surrounding. The perfect escape. 5 stars in every department. The only negative thing - was having to leave. x

    John2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth was a great host, who was really friendly and accommodating. The barn was great - clean, cosy and the kitchen had everything you needed. Great location with Hungerford town only a 5 min drive away, and Newbury just over 20 mins away. We went to one of her restaurant recommendations (The Pheasant Inn), which was well worth money. Would highly recommend and will stay again if we're in the area.

  • This charming cottage is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The personal touches throughout make this one of my favorite places I’ve stayed with through AirBnb. I felt so at home and at peace. The energy of the cottage is truly special. I will definitely return on my next trip to Wiltshire.

    Rebekah2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a beautiful coach house. The decor was incredibly lovely and we had such a restful and relaxing time. Ramsbury was a perfect village get away from London. We had great food at the Bell pub right next door. It was great to have maps for local walks of which there were plenty. The only thing we would say was that the mattress in the downstairs room was quite hard and this made it tricky to pick rooms. Other than that though it far exceeded our expectations. We were so grateful to arrive to fresh milk, eggs bread and coffee and muesli they were such lovely touches which we really appreciated. We also enjoyed the local town of Hungerford and Marlborough which were perfect for charity shops, antique hunting and afternoon tea. We would love to return and highly recommend the coach house.

Crooked Corner is at the heart of quaint country village of Aldbourne. Just off the village green on a dead end road next to St Michaels Church. 150 yds and you are on the Marlborough Downs AONB - 50yds the other way is the Blue Boar Pub. On the other side of the village green is The Crown Pub, a little livelier than the Blue Boar. Village has a Coop mini-market, Post Office and Tea Rooms, Barbers Ladies Hairdresser & Beautician. Hungerford/Marlborough 15 minutes drive.
Crooked Corner is a listed cottage built in 1754. I have sensitively extended to include a fabulous family kitchen/breakfast room and wet room. Your room is a new loft conversion completed in 2017. At the top of the house with a private staircase access gives you privacy.

  • Thank you to Maura for such a wonderful time! We have very busy lives and really looked forward to our weekend in the forest. The cabin is an outstanding space & sparkling clean. We left feeling very happy and relaxed!

    Charlotte2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Maura is a welcoming host and keeps a clean, thoughtful space. Basic amenities, but you don't need all the bells and whistles for a country stay. Sound system in the cabin is great, really adds to the experience. Comfy bed, excellent noises at night.

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay at the woodland cabin. I was looking for a comfortable space within easy reach of an abundance of trees to read, write, do some yoga, meditate, and get lost in the woods. This place far surpassed my expectations. The space is perfect for relaxing or working, with a roomy desk/table that looks out onto the garden and the woods beyond. There is bird song. The shower is hot and powerful and the underfloor heating is a treat for yoga or just sliding into warm slippers. The speakers are excellent and the lighting is dimmable so you can create whatever atmosphere you need for your retreat. Communication with the host was excellent both before and during my stay - my sugar and tea supplies were topped up within minutes of asking and Maura's husband kindly gave me a lift to the station to escape the rain. I was sorry to leave and already eagerly anticipate my return.

  • Maura was an amazing host, lovely touches left for us. The shower and underfloor heating were great and the mini stereo made playing some relaxing music very easy. The bed was comfy and the main room was very spacious. The local pub (the three tuns) was great and only 5 minutes walk away - definitely book a table for a lovely evening. The kitchenette was really handy and the portable induction hobs made making porridge in the morning really easy. Lots of walks in the area if that's your thing too. As another guest mentioned, it was lovely to draw back the curtains in the morning and be able to look out at the woodlands.

    Jim2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cabin, a very stylish space furnished to a high standard. We loved the shower with natural wood panels and all the eco touches. Maura was a fantastic host, extremely easy to communicate with and left us thoughtful touches such as fresh milk and apple juice in the fridge. It was also a great base for good walks and cycle rides in the woods and Wiltshire countryside.

    Owen2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Maura’s beautiful cabin. Great location, many walks in the woods and by the canal, nice pub and cafe in town and an amazing host - couldn’t ask for a more restful break away from the city!

Hike into the rolling hills in this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visit the Village Green, just a small stroll away, full of history and an excellent Pub! Or Simply relax by the fire. Our hut is located in a postcard English village and you will not be disappointed in its beauty. Perfect for couples, singles or even friends for a relaxing stay with a twist. We also welcome quick stopovers at a moments notice for those who are passing through. Special occasion? let us know in advance.
Set amongst fruit trees and bushes in our mini orchard, which is yours for the picking when in season. Feed the Pygmy goats who graze in the pen next door! Suitable for walkers and couples who want to fully unwind. The hut has a double bed, so possible to cozy up with a little one as well. The Hut has electric, toilet facilities, water supply, and Tea/coffee facilities. We offer an outdoor fire area for a perfect cozy evening melting marshmallows. (logs mostly available for a small cost). You are also welcome to bring a BBQ to use around the fire pit area or use the grill over the fire pit. The hut is located at the foot of our front gardens but it is in a separate section exclusive to our guests (well over 100ft from the house) with privacy screens/trees to make your stay your own little sanctuary. We do have neighbours and so the property is ‘not in the middle of nowhere’ but the space is quiet and located in a small and quiet village which is in the middle of nowhere. The space is best enjoyed during the summer/warm months of the year but we do accept bookings all year round. Please note that during the autumn and winter months the space has reduced privacy due to the surrounding trees loosing their leaves. We offer a reduced rate during the winter season (£30 instead of £40). We offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before booking and as we do not control the weather please don’t be offended if we decline to issue a refund because of the rain so please check the weather before committing to your stay. Approx. 4 apple trees, 2 plum, hazel nut tree, cherry, pear and numerous raspberry bushes all for your picking when in season (generally June through to September) Unfortunately we cannot accept dogs to our property. Please note that we do not offer a shower in the space but the hut does have a small sink for washing, cleaning teeth etc. We look forward to greeting you :)

The village has an endless supply of walks and we would be happy to guide you should you wish to explore.
  • Jodie and Lee's place was just as nice as we expected, and we would certainly recommend it to others. It was clean, cosy and lovingly decorated. Aldbourne is a very sweet village and the hosts provided some nice local info.

  • We had a great stay in Jodie and Lee's little gypsy hut. Even though it was winter we didn't need to turn the heating on which was a rather nice surprise. The surroundings are also nice for those who like hiking and a good pint.

Stay in a beautifully atmospheric room in our family home in the heart of a vibrant and quintessentially English village of Aldbourne. Walk around the corner to enjoy the hospitality in either pub, cafe or takeaway. You will be welcomed into the heart of our busy family life but can have all the space you need in your personal sitting room and bedroom. Stunning country walks from the village to the Ridgeway. 10 mins from the M4 (J15), 15 mins to Marlborough / Hungerford or 30 mins to Newbury.
Spacious bedroom that is accessed through the stairs of this C17th house's historic priest hole. The bathroom is part of the same room and it must be noted that there is no door although the room is partitioned in two. There is another loo (with a door!) downstairs that guests are very welcome to share with the rest of the house. The room enjoys views up the quintessential English village street at the front and quiet gardens out the back. There is tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom and a mini-fridge that can be used to store milk or a small amount of food. Our guests are encouraged to make use of the sitting room just beneath their room, it has comfortable leather sofas and easy chairs surrounding the log burner stove and a hidden tv in the cabinet. It is a cosy room to enjoy the ambience on a winter's evening. The sitting room and bedroom are both situated at the end of our home and so have a cosy feel of being unconnected from the rest of the house. There is a travel cot and a z-bed available if people would like to have their children accompany them. Please do let us know if you would like to make use of either of these prior to your stay. Our room was recently reviewed by a lovely Belgian couple who stayed on this blog: https://www.reisgoesting.be/reistips/door-engeland-met-airbnb/
Oak House is situated in the centre of the village of Aldbourne less than 2 minutes walk to two quaint pubs, the post office and Coop shop. It is a very unique village with a beautiful village green at its centre. There are a variety of walks from the village into the surrounding countryside. Swindon station is less than 20 mins or so and has excellent train links to London or the West Country. The ancient stones and long barrows at Avebury are 30 minutes away and the market towns of Marlborough and Hungerford (15 mins drive) offer many coffee shops and shopping.
  • It was a great pleasure to stay at Alex's. The room is lovely and spaceous and quiet. I would highly recommend staying there although the room is up some tricky steps so not ideal for everyone.

  • Very lovely quality accommodation. Almost like a boutique hotel feel.

    David2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Alex is a wonderfully down to earth host. Nothing is too much trouble. The rest of the family are wonderful too and we enjoyed the company they offered. The room is awesome. Quirky but lovely for a couple going away for a quick break. Bath is great and I loved listening on the old analogue radio. Overall, our stay was great. Would highly recommend.

    Jonts2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This darling home feels very comfortable, efficient, and clean. Right in the middle of Aldbourne, it has easy access to anything in town. Alex provided an immediate response to our questions and her instructions were very clear. Fresh flowers in the room added a touch of English hospitality! • I had a really comfortable stay at Alex’s home. It was really nice to meet the whole family too. It was a shame I didn’t have a chance to explore the area as I was on a course all weekend, but it was a lovely space to come back to and rest in the evenings. Alex was very thoughtful and even prepared a hot water bottle in the bed on the second night!

  • Lovely as always! If you’re in the area make sure this is the place you stay, the family’s so welcoming and the pets are adorable.

A peaceful spacious annexe with a wood burning stove, its own bathroom with a shower over a roll top bath. The kitchen has a breakfast bar overlooking the canal with a hob, oven and fridge freezer. We are situated between Marlborough and Hungerford giving you access to both towns and lots of gorgeous walks, within easy distance of Great Bedwyn and Hungerford train station. Furthermore we are 15 mins walk to The Harrow at Little Bedwyn and 30 mins walk to Great Bedwyn.
  • We are as snug as bugs in a rug in this cosy place. We stayed in February and Sarah had the wood burner already going when we arrived, which was much appreciated. The place was clean and had a cosy atmosphere. The bed was big and comfy. The shower was decent and hot. A breakfast croissant was left discretely on the doorstep for us. All in all, we had a great stay and would be happy to come back!

  • Nice self contained unit. Liked breakfast croissants.

  • Sarah’s place is a beautiful little cottage next to the canal, with stunning views. It is a lovely little cosy getaway. If you are going out in the evening take a torch 😁

  • Sarah was a great host, making a special effort to go out and get milk for when we arrived and providing croissants in the morning. The space was lovely, really homely and the log burner was a definite benefit! Great location for a weekend in the secluded countryside but with decent links to towns. Would recommend a stay there!

  • The photos don’t do justice to how absolutely wonderful Sarah’s place is. It is the perfect cosy escape, toasty warm, sumptuous and with thoughtful attention to detail throughout. Sarah is a friendly and attentive host. The log burner, big bath and warm croissants were all highlights for us.

  • Lovely long weekend in Hungerford. The cottage is very conveniently located; the train station and different stores and restaurants are all within 10-15 minutes walking distance. Being right next to the Hungerford Common also means that you can go out the door and start walking in the countryside. It also means you’re in a quiet area. The cottage was clean and had everything I was expecting. The host was very communicative and helpful. She responded quickly to any questions I had and gave good directions for finding the cottage. It’s a cozy and warm place - perfect for a quiet evenings of reading on the couch. I’d very happily stay there again.

  • Had a wonderful 2 night stay at Lucy's gorgeous place this weekend. As well as being beautifully finished, the attention to detail throughout was excellent. The kitchen and bathrooms are all well equipped and we made full use of the kitchen after a trip to the local farm shop! We arrived at night, but the view from the balcony was a treat to wake up to and inspired us to watch the stars the following evening after a venture out on a long walk through woods and fields (with an essential pub stop). Overall had a super relaxed stay, would highly recommend!

  • Week two just as amazing a very special place to relax. You will not be disappointed.

    David2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • As I drove down the driveway I new this was going to be something special. Total tranquility very well equipped with views off the balcony that you can only dream off. The location is just a short distance to the town center and an amazing base to visit other towns within the area. I can’t say a bad word about this place or the host everything is of high quality. My only comment would be a hot tub on the balcony possibly in years to come would certainly be an added extra that would open a bigger door for this very special location. I loved it so much I’m going back next week. Thanks a million Lucy...

  • We spent a wonderful long weekend at the Bothy in early November. The house was spacious and modern but still felt cozy. The views from the living room are lovely - a great place to relax. We went on some countryside walks and explored the local area which has lots to see and do. Lucy and Freddie were really friendly, and kindly left some breakfast supplies for us. Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful property.

A recently renovated chalk barn rebuilt with much of the original stone in the centre of the award winning village of Aldbourne. Spacious, bright, airy and comfortable, it is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area.
Large open plan space including fully equipped kitchen and living room with double sofa bed. Separate bathroom. Upstairs mezzanine bedroom with double bed and velux windows.
Awarded best-kept large village 2015, Aldbourne is the perfect place from which to explore the Ridgeway, Marlborough, Hungerford and Salisbury. It has easy access to Swindon's Great Western Hospital and the town's connections to Brunel at the wonderful Steam Museum. Aldbourne itself has plenty going on with two good pubs, a post office with café, a convenience store, a forge and a take away. On the picturesque village green is the Norman church, St Michael's. The village is also famous for it's connections with the American Army during WWII when they were stationed here before the D-Day Landings.
  • Highly recommended! A beautiful barn conversion. This is a great space for a couple looking for a break away to enjoy some r&r in the countryside. Kitchen is excellent with everything you need if you do want to cook. Great shower. Good heating. Lynn is a wonderful host - we were welcomed to the property and were left some breakfast items which were delicious.

Leverton is a very pretty & peaceful hamlet, set in beautiful countryside, affording wonderful walks including one to nearby Roman ruins. Within an hour and a half's journey by road from Central London, many places of historical interest, including Windsor, Bath, Oxford, Winchester, Salisbury, Stonehenge & Avebury are within an hour's drive.
Built over 200 years ago the cottage is full of character and charm, the unusually high ceiling beams have been stripped to reveal the natural grain of the wood, central heating has been installed and care has been taken to keep improvements and furnishings as far as is possible, in character with the age of the cottage. A bathroom is set between the two first floor bedrooms, and a small ground floor bedroom/study has an adjoining shower room. Breakfast is taken around an old farmhouse table, overlooking a very pretty and ever changing terraced garden.
The beauty of the countryside, the individuality of the nearby market town of Hungerford, which is mostly served by independent & very individual shops, including a number of antique shops. Local craftsmen include a high number of talented artists, wood turners, potters, and in Leverton itself, the best picture framers ever. Good homemade foodstuffs & locally grown produce can be purchased from local farmers' markets and farm shops.
  • Sue and I arrived at Jan's on our bikes in the pouring rain. We were immediately made very welcome and Jan showed us her shed where we left out bikes overnight. Jan's house is delightful and Jan is a perfect host. We had a very welcome cup of tea and biscuit with Jan. The room is cosy and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great - I recommend Jan's scrambled eggs. Jan made us feel very welcome and we would highly recommend a stay with her.

    Stuart2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home Jan has! We had such a lovely stay and shared some fantastic travel stories over breakfast. We also had the best sleep we’ve had in years! Would love to come back. Thank you Jan for all your hospitality.

  • Jan is the most hospitable, welcoming and thoughtful host who goes above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay. Highly recommend visiting this lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

  • Only a 20-30 minute walk into Hungerford via road or footpath, Jan's 200 year old cottage was perfectly situated for me to attend a friends wedding. On arrival I was offered tea and sat in the quiet and pretty garden of this quaint cottage. Great with conversation, an hour with Jan passed effortlessly and she made me feel most welcome. However, when I did decide to head into town to meet friends she gave me a key and left me to my own devices. The room was cool even considering the burst of hot weather during the stay. The cottage is quiet, cosy and I felt at home from the moment I stepped in. The bed was comfortable and although no wardobe there were plenty of hangars and coat hooks to hang my suit on as well as a chest of drawers. Although not ensuite, I had sole use of the bathroom, accessible immediately next to the bedroom on the landing. The large roll top bath had limited shower facilites however Jan offered use of the downstairs shower if i'd prefered. Breakfast was outstanding from the fresh berries picked from the garden to the perfectly poached eggs on toast. The eggs are produced locally by a neighbour and were excellent. Breakfast was fantastic even with a slightly fuzzy head in the morning after the wedding. Having lived at the cottage for quite a while Jan's local knowledge was great and she gave me directions for walking routes through the picturesque local estates and farmland. It truly is an area of natural beauty and the number of locals I passed were friendly and smiley. Jan is a wonderful host and I would not hesitate staying with her again. I will be dropping in to return a book she most kindly lent me the next time I visit friends.

  • Lovely little cottage with excellent host.

    Geoff2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a huge surprise to us, just a place to stay we thought but so much more in reality. It's a lovely house, great room, wonderful host. I really enjoyed staying with Jan and she is an absolutely excellent host, plying us with eggs, good bread and fresh fruit for breakfast. We felt a bit guilty keeping her from her many things to do but sitting having a chat in her lovely kitchen and garden was just great. It's very relaxed and she's lots of fun. Hungerford is an easy 20 minute walk away and the village up the road, Chiltern Foliat, has a great pub with good food so if you don't have a car, like us, it's all very easy.

Shepherd's hut. Double bed. Wood burner. Shower and loo in nearby cabin for your private use. All in quiet Wiltshire village, surrounded by beautiful countryside.
  • The little shepherd’s hut was a cosy and warm port in the storm. The bed was super comfortable and though the space is small, John has decorated in such away that it felt anything but. There was also a small hut at the back of the garden that held a breakfast table and a shower room/ toilet. I would have liked easier access to water but John did make available a large jug for water. There was also tea and some chocolates which was a nice touch. John was super helpful and friendly and gave us tips about where to eat and get coffee.

  • My partner, me and our three legged dog all had a really lovely time. John is a great host, helpful but discrete- we felt we had the Shepard's hut, garden and separate shed to ourselves although John checked in with us a couple of times to be sure all was good. We spent 3 days in Avebury, a magical juxtaposition of English village and neolithic monuments and also went for some lovely walks. Recommended

The village: This is a lovely small, quiet village, and although we are based in a quiet close we are near the small High Street. The village is a well known horse racing village, and there are 34 stables spread around the village, so lots of horses around. There are several 'gallops' where the horses train that are accessible to the public, and are quite a beautiful sight to watch! Location: We're accessible to Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, and Wiltshire. There is open countryside from the house, lots of walks, with the Ridgeway being a 10 minute drive away. The M4 is a 10 minute drive, the A34 is 30 mins away. We're less than an hour from Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Winchester, Salisbury, the Cotswolds, Windsor, Stonehenge, Heathrow and Legoland. Shops: There are 3 shops that you can buy food from, including a co-op, and a lovely cafe. Pubs and places to eat and drink : We're lucky to have some fantastic pubs in and close to the village with delicious food. We can give details and our recommendations! There is also an Indian Restaurant and another Indian, Chip shop and Chinese take away, all within a 5 min walk. Nightlife: Severely limited in Lambourn ( except the pubs) , but there are a wide variety of eateries and pubs in Newbury and Swindon, as well as cinemas, theatres, and music venues.

  • A great location if, like me, you are attending an event at the nearby Sheepdrove Conference Centre. Jo and Neil are great hosts - welcoming and very friendly. The room configuration means you have a lot of private space in their large home which is another positive. Bed very comfy, had a great nights sleep as its whisper quiet. Highly recommended.

Our village is in the North Wessex Downs and along the Great West Way. There's so much to enjoy: Visit Savernake’s ancient trees in Henry VIII’s hunting forest, wander beside colourful narrow boats on the Kennet & Avon canal or follow the Romans' footsteps in the secluded Brail wood. Wilton windmill & Crofton Beam Engines are working reminders of our industrial heritage, still grinding corn & supplying canal water. Why not #stayawhile and request our 3 night stay offer: £150 double, £130 single
A private bedroom with a comfy double bed and en-suite shower. Optional twin beds. Travel cot available. It's ground-floor so might be suitable for some guests with limited mobility (contact us to discuss any particular mobility requirements and we'll help if we can). The room can be entered directly from the parking area through the utility room at the front, or up garden steps at the back. You’ll be given your own key to come and go as you please during your stay and are welcome to sit out in the garden. A continental breakfast is served in the adjoining dining room or outside on the decking on warm sunny days. If you prefer a more substantial breakfast there is a delightful community café by the recreation ground opposite serving many breakfast options, including a full English, with vegetarian and vegan choices too. There’s an off-road parking space for your vehicle and, if arriving by train, Bedwyn station, on a direct line from Paddington, London, is less than 5 mins walk from the house. We can accommodate bicycles securely undercover overnight. Our house is just a short distance from the Kennet & Avon towpath and a Sustrans cycle route so is an excellent location for an overnight stop for walkers or cyclists travelling between Bristol, Bath and Reading.
Great Bedwyn lies on the edge of the Pewsey Vale, along The Great West Way and within the North Wessex Downs 'a unique and spectacular landscape that includes tranquil open downland, ancient woodland and chalk streams in the centre of southern England'. Our village has all the advantages of a traditional English village, a pub, cafe, post-office with bakery and a convenience store all just a short walk from our house. The chip van visits on Tuesdays and the mobile wood-fired Pizzas on alternate Wednesdays in summer. We're ideally situated for overnight stays for canal walkers and cyclists and if you're staying a little longer there's so much to see and do just a short drive away. if you are visiting from abroad you might like to use us as an economical base for day trips further afield; Bath, Oxford, Winchester, Salisbury or Stonehenge – all just an hours drive away, and London an hour and half by train. If you are taking advantage of our 3 night offer of £150 then here’s just a suggestion of how you might spend a relaxing weekend locally: Arrive Friday for an evening meal at our village pub The Three Tuns. Saturday visit Crofton Beam Engines in the morning, coffee or lunch in their café, then take the circular 5 mile walk through the Brail which conveniently passes The Swan in Wilton for further refreshment. In the afternoon visit the market town of Marlborough known for its wide high street and many independent shops and restaurants. Stay in town for an evening meal out. Rick Steins or Dan’s at The Crown for a treat, or there are also plenty of traditional rural pubs that we can recommend. Sunday morning stroll across to Wendy’s community café for either a slap up full English breakfast or later for Sunday lunch there, vegetarian and vegan choices a speciality, or lunch at The Three Tuns. In the afternoon visit the windmill (on Sunday afternoons in summer months there are trips to the top of the mill) and take a country walk – there is a great choice of local routes. Then a relaxing Sunday evening back at No 10 preparing to leave for home Monday morning after a continental breakfast with us. And on your way home perhaps a visit to Hungerford, renowned for its interesting antique and collectors shops and arcade. That’s a pretty full weekend in the countryside – all within 7 miles of our B&B! See our guidebook for even more suggestions.
  • Excellent B&B, spotless, comfortable, welcoming and helpful hosts. Super breakfast. Highly recommended.

  • Interesting, friend, lovely host's. Venue will not disappoint.

  • We stayed here in order to visit The Harrow. Judy & Dave were wonderful hosts, couldn’t do enough for us including driving us to dinner. Given the challenge of getting taxis this is incredibly kind and helpful. The room itself is the perfect size for two, cosy and very well equipped with a brand new, gleaming shower. Would not hesitate to recommend.

    Tom2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, thank you Judy!

    Phoebe2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We are so pleased to have discovered Great Bedwyn- such a pretty village with many lovely features, a range of restaurants/pubs/cafes in the area and excellent local walks. Judy & Dave Rae attentive and lovely hosts and their accommodation is immaculate, comfortable and tasteful decorated. Breakfast is a bonus. You’ll be pleased you booked here.

    Kumari2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Where is the 6th Star? Her name is Judy, she lives at Number 10 and she is an awesome hostess. The accommodation was way more than we expected, and we were looked after so well. Judy’s attention to detail was evident, we can’t think of anything she had omitted from the room, and the breakfast had loads of choices and was freshly prepared. Dave and Judy gave us advice regarding places to visit; Avebury, Marlborough and Stonehenge to name but a few and even lent us guide books to assist and travels. The main purpose for our visit was to enjoy dinner at The Harrow; Dave offered not only to take us there, but to bring us back again quite late at night. May I suggest that Dave is the 7th Star that should be available in these reviews? Check this venue out, you will not be disappointed.

    Jonathan2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication. Very clean. Judy a great host. Very helpful. Lovely local walks.

    Theresa2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Judy’s place was a perfect place for us to stay while cycling the Kennet and Avon canal. Our bikes were locked away overnight, the room had everything we needed and more, we had a great breakfast, and The village pub has excellent food. We highly recommend Judy’s annexe to stay and the village and local area is beautiful to explore.

In the centre of a most picturesque vibrant village this beautifully modernised, well fitted, Victorian family house has stunning views over the Kennet Valley, large garden and ample parking. Local renowned gastropub, cafe, post office, handy grocery store, scenic walks, situated close Marlborough and Hungerford, rail station and J14 M4
Superbly situated in the heart of this prestigious village, this four gabled detached Victorian house is in an elevated position overlooking the rooftops of other Ramsbury houses and with views south across the Kennet Valley. The house is spacious, well fitted, modernised and in immaculate condition. On the ground floor is an Entrance Hall; Drawing Room with fireplace and dual aspect; Dining Room with brick fireplace; Family Room with wood burning stove, large TV (Sky, Netflix); well-equipped gas-fired Aga Breakfast Room/Kitchen with French doors to large Garden; Cloakrooms with WC; Laundry/Utility Room. Behind the Kitchen is an additional sitting room/playroom off which is another WC and shower room. On the first floor are four Double Bedrooms (3 king and 1 super king); two Bathrooms; and one Shower Room, none of which are en suite but all are adjacent to the bedrooms. Our home has double gates opening into a large gravelled drive, which can easily accommodate four cars. In the rear garden there is a large terrace with barbecue, two tables and ten chairs for outside dining, a large sun umbrella, two sun beds and a huge lawn. The garden is well stocked with trees, shrubs, a mini orchard, rose bed and in all in about a quarter of an acre. The village of Ramsbury is one of Wiltshire's most popular places to live, a large village with enormous vibrancy and great amenities, two local pubs which serve guality food, one being the famous Bell, the Crown and Anchor, the Cafe Bella, open all day, a Post Office, handy Grocery Store and the best charity shop in East Wiltshire. Marlborough, with its famous College, Summer School, and historic Town Centre is four miles away, Hungerford smaller but just as fascinating with its vast array of antique shops and famous Antique Market, railway station with trains to Reading and Paddington, London (1 hour 15 mins) is just under four miles. Easy day trips from Ramsbury for visitors to this area would include Stonehenge, the Cotswolds, Bicester Village, Daylesford, Bath, Winchester, Cirencester and Salisbury.
I love this characterful village, the stunning views, the friendly people, the ease of access to so much in the West Country, and the adjacent Holy Cross Church (part of which is over 1,000 years old) which on Sunday mornings and at weddings peels its bells. I love the atmosphere within the village, especially with the many thatched three hundred year old cottages, of being in a Miss Marple/Midsummer Murder environ. I love the walks over the Marlborough Downs, The Ridgeway, the Savernake Forest, and along the River Kennet

Ideal for the perfect stay in glorious Wiltshire countryside

Great Bedwyn is an ancient settlement and is a lovely village. It's adjacent to the Kennet and Avon canal and just over ten minutes drive to the market town of Marlborough. You're surrounded by wonderful Wessex countryside, with great walks, pubs and views as well as ancient places such as Avebury.
  • This cozy cottage is bigger than the pictures suggest. It’s clean, well-decorated, and there are thoughtful touches around every corner - kids movies, board games, candles, and a kitchen stocked with all the basics to get you started on dinner. We especially loved the local, fresh bread - I try to avoid gluten, but this bread was well worth it! Nick was quick to respond and offered local tips. We definitely recommend Wendy’s Cafe and Juice Bar. If you’re traveling with kids, good to know there are toys inside and a playground right outside. We took a morning stroll to the next village over, taking in green space and local attractions along the way. We loved our stay and would highly recommend to the next family.

  • So good we stayed twice

    Chris2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to stay with all the amenities needed (We had a longer term stay of almost 2 weeks and it was great) and Lesley welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved it so much that I am returning again a week later

    Chris2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Lesley's lovely home. It is in a great position to explore Hungerford and all the lovely Berkshire villages around. The house is so cute and comfortable, and our dog enjoys being welcome and having the garden to patrol.

    Sally2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Place was absolutely amazing. Clean, homely and very private.

    Monica2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was brilliant, it was a lovely cottage and a great garden for the dogs, it was in a perfect location right on the high street

    Sarah2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We have now stayed three times at Lesley's place as our kitchen refurbishment in our house took longer than expected. Each time we felt more and more at home as Lesley started to get to know us and left us lovely flowers and made sure that we had what we needed. With its lovely, dog friendly garden in the back, it is the perfect retreat just off the High Street and Lesley is super accomodating. It's a great place to make your own!

    Astrid2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley was a brilliant host. She did everything to make our life easier when we had to move out of our home because of building works. We got to pick up the key when it suited us and were able to extend the stay when we needed to. All the information about wifi codes and television remote controls were clearly marked and we very much enjoyed our stay there. Lesley's little house is very cosy and benefits from a fantastic garden with lots of sunshine and benches to lounge on. It was the perfect and very safe environment for our dog. Inside the house, we slept in a very comfortable bed with ample pillows and a proper duvet cover, which I always appreciate. It is really a stunning little place, which is ideally situated on Hungerford High Street, so very accessible to local restaurants and shops. I can only highly recommend staying there.

  • This place is an absolute gem. Location is perfect - the town is literally a minute's walk down to the end of the drive. The space itself is lovely - impeccably clean, nice and cool (temps were around 30 degrees most days we were there), very comfortable. The host was very welcoming, but not overbearing whatsoever, both Deborah and Jonathan introduced themselves and told us if we needed anything to just ask. We visited as a family of three, with our daughter (almost 4) - for a family break this is perfect, our daughter loved her bedroom and slept very well. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend to couples or families as a great, safe, secure place to stay.

Our newly renovated first floor apartment is located in the very centre of Aldbourne, just 8 miles from Marlborough. Traditionally styled but with up to date touches, it has an elegant, light and airy feel. Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy towels...
Our first floor apartment is a unique place to stay in Aldbourne. It is in the heart of the village, with all its fantastic facilities, but offers the flexibility of self catering accommodation.
Aldbourne is a fantastic base for walking The Ridgeway, exploring Wiltshire and visiting Bath, Cheltenham, Oxford and Salisbury. We are a 15 minute drive to the market towns of Marlborough and Hungerford. Aldbourne is a vibrant village with lots going on.
  • Claire’s place is designed beautifully. The layout of the studio is suitable for a couple or small family. The bathroom and kitchen were exquisite. We wish we could have stayed longer and had a car t explore the surrounding areas.

  • Claire's place is absolutely beautiful! In the middle of a very pretty village and Claire was the prefect host, easy to communicate with and gave us some useful tips on arrival. Thanks so much Claire!

  • Claire’s Coach House is exceptional in every way. It has the styling and feel of a boutique hotel and the fittings and finish of a luxury house. It's obvious that no expense has been spared as the Coach House has been renovated to create a high-end studio apartment. Claire is a fantastic and considerate host who makes sure that you feel at home. Aldbourne is a wonderful and friendly village with everything that you could want; a local shop, cafe and pubs. It’s also a great location to explore the historic towns and walks located in the North Wessex Downs. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend staying.

  • A stylish and comfortable home in a beautiful country village. We loved it

    Edd2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was beautiful, stylish and very well equipped. Claire is a lovely lady who welcomed us on arrival. I felt very at home and really enjoyed my little get-away. I would definitely recommend this as a little stop if you are looking to explore the Wilshire and/or surrounding areas. No washing machine for muddy stuff if you end up with post-walk muddy clothing. But I personally wouldn't have wanted one in there because it would have made the space too small- just a heads up though if you are an avid walker and are staying for more than a few nights! Thank you Claire :)

  • FABULOUS! Really that sums it up. The coach house was such a lovely flat. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights for our 1st anniversary. Claire is a wonderful host and had the flat stocked with breakfast items when we arrived (fresh bread, eggs, jam, yogurt etc). The flat is absolutely pristine and done up to a very high standard. Aldbourne is a quaint village with tub pubs. We only tried the blue boar and it was lovely and cosy with a fire going. I can't recommend this airbnb enough. If you are looking for a quiet weekend away this is the perfect retreat!

  • Elegant, stylish, smart and *beautifully* appointed, this is one of the loveliest Airbnb residences I have ever stayed in. You can tell it's a labour of love: Every last detail in Claire's flat has been chosen to be the best – from the space-age oven-cum-microwave to the water filtration system (=delicious tap water!) to the Nespresso machine, to the beautiful bathroom fittings and gorgeous, comfy bed and cotton sheets. This was sumptuous living in a sweet and friendly Wiltshire village with which we instantly fell in love. (Honestly, the nicest people anywhere, and 2 great pubs around the village green.) And Claire – like everyone else in Aldbourne – is very helpful and kind and was always on hand if we needed anything. All in all, couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The decor is minimalist and modern with high ceilings and lots of light. 20 steps away is The Bell, an awarded friendly pub that has a lovely log fire and fab food. We're a 15 minute drive from Marlborough town & the school. Just a 5 minute drive away is Hungerford where there are cafe's, pubs and supermarkets. There are many signed walking spots and a big kitchen allows for sociable meals and catering for large groups. The house has fibre optic broadband, Sky and a PlayStation.
This is a unique space due to the fact that the central space is so large and light. Each room is very different from the last and it has a traditional frontage with modern architecture at the back. The kitchen is large and spacious and the whole space is perfect for large groups who want to be in the beautiful English countryside.
Ramsbury is a quiet village just off the M4 (an hour and a half from London) with a post office and local store within walking distance. Just 20 steps from the front door is the highly acclaimed The Bell pub which serves fabulous food and has a cosy log fire.
  • Maddy and Sam's home is absolutely fantastic and we simply couldn't recommend it or their warmest hospitality more. From the start, Maddy and Sam were so friendly and welcoming and lovely to deal with. The home itself is stunning (looks better even than in the photographs) , in impeccable condition and in the most wonderful location. We had a family group staying from overseas and they were all bowled over by the beautiful and interesting decor, the central situation of the home in Rambsbury (perfect!) as well as just how very comfortable it was ~ not to mention the garden, which is extremely well kept and designed. All the provisions were perfect for the number of guests and the duration of their stay. The home is clearly cherished by the family and it was honour to stay there. This was felt by all our family and we really can't thank Maddy and Sam enough for their kindness and care with our stay.

All the bedrooms and bathrooms are really stylish and it was really easy getting the keys etc.. Everything was really clean the beds comfortable. Would definitely recommend. And the pub opposite is great too.
