Holiday Rentals in Stretton-on-Fosse

Just booked in Stretton-on-Fosse

An en-suite room in a 400 years old traditional English farm house, cosy and nice, breakfast included. Excellent reviews! Long-term committed hosts.
Would you like to experience authentic rural England ? There is not a better location than an old Saxon hamlet originally listed in the Domesday Book in the picturesque rolling hills of the North Cotswolds. There is not a better place there than a room in our 17 century farm house with its original features - beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace, AGA cooker. Our house imaginatively called 'The Old House', was built just after the chaos caused locally by the English Civil War in the second half of the seventeenth century. It has been updated a little since then though. This is a place for those who appreciate and respect the "old". This listing is for our Yellow Room with its own en-suite on a B&B basis. If your party is of four, we can also offer our other listing the Pink Bedroom ie two double bedrooms. Please request a quote, if you are interested in this option. In the summer you are welcome to enjoy our garden. We have more than 100 fruit trees in the garden of different sorts. These include many varieties of apples, pears, plums, gages, sour and sweet cherries, quinces - these are quite reliable croppers and sometimes we may have apricots, peaches and figs but that depends very much on the weather each year. We are only 35 minutes away from Cheltenham, famous for other things the horse racing festival held in March every year - including of course the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Hidcote Boyce is a typical small cotswold village - it has not materially changed for the last three to four hundred years. This makes it relatively unique in a rapidly changing world.
  • We had a great experience in the old house. We arrived easily following Konstantina's instructions and, although we didn't share a lot of time with her, she was really kind to us. The house is gorgeous, our room was really comfortable and clean and last but not least breakfast was fantastic! Konstantina's aunt was lovely! We shared our stay with a couple of Australians and they were really nice too! I would really recommend this place for anyone that wants to visit England from the inside!

  • Place was easy to find. Location was amazing - lovely country setting but still close to everywhere wanted to be. Bright, cheery room with welcoming hosts. Delicious breakfast met us every morning with many choices. Hosts provided the perfect amount of interaction.

  • The house has a lot of character, but a real bonus was the very modern ensuite bathroom. Very charming family.

  • I consider the time I spent staying with Konstantina, Tim and their beautiful family as an absolute highlight. They went above and beyond anything I imagined the perfect hosts to be. Their house was incredibly charming, and the room was cosy and warm. Its location was fantastic, settled in the stunning Cotswald countryside yet only three miles to the picturesque town of Chipping Campden. I found Konstantina and Tim to be great conversationalists and upon arrival, felt immediately welcomed into their home. They were also very generous with their knowledge and assistance. I will never forget how much I enjoyed staying with them, and would recommend anyone on Airbnb to stay with this fantastic family. Thank you Konstantina and Tim. If I'm ever back in the area I'll be hoping to see you again one day.

  • The house is lovely, very clean, breakfast was great. The house is well positioned for exploring the Cotswolds. We didn't feel quite as welcomed as other reviewers but we came midweek and Konstantina was very busy with work and kids ect. We met Tim on our last day and he was lovely. Thanks for having us.

Welcome to Tea Cosy Cottage...a beautiful Grade II Listed 17th century thatched cottage, steeped in history with many original features whilst also providing modern luxury to make your stay perfect in every way.
With original walls half a metre thick, window seats, exposed beams, old oak doors and floors and a beautiful inglenook fireplace, Tea Cosy Cottage is delightful. A fabulous log burning stove in the sitting room creates a perfect cosy, warm and welcoming ambience. The original staircase adds to the delightful character of Tea Cosy, a beautiful cottage designed around original features. Previously owned by an English Lord and Lady, the cottage was featured in The Daily Mail and in pastimes was the village post office and bakery (the original baker’s oven is still there to see). Enter through the front stable door directly into the fully equipped kitchen, a light and airy room with windows and stable doors to the front and rear. Furnishings include a range of fitted wood cupboards, an antique oak table and four chairs and monk's bench. Just outside the kitchen door is an outer room, complete with washer/dryer and freezer. The sitting room is wonderfully cosy with a large Cotswold stone inglenook fireplace featuring a salt drying box and wooden seat on one side and a wood burning stove with plenty of logs. Two very comfortable two seater Laura Ashley sofas are provided and the window seat carved in Elm especially for the cottage by a local craftsman provides a special touch, the perfect place to sit with a coffee or a book and to watch the horses stroll by. A flat screen Smart TV with Freeview and DVD player provide additional entertainment and the cottage offers excellent superfast Wi-Fi. A few winding stairs lead to the landing upstairs. The stairs are an original feature thus adding even more character that Tea Cosy has to offer. BEDROOM ONE - Part of the charm of this cottage is its original features including this bedroom's original doorway and oak beams. The old painted brick chimney breast faces you as you enter this light room with windows on two sides. The room is furnished with a double bed (4'6" wide), rugs on the wooden floors, an antique rocking chair, and a chest of drawers and wardrobe. BEDROOM TWO - This small but delightful room has two solid wood single beds cleverly made by a local craftsman. With a walk-in cupboard that provides a shelf and hanging space for clothes, it is ideal for children. There are wooden oak floors throughout upstairs in the cottage. BATHROOM - White bathroom suite and wooden floor. The bath is fitted with a shower screen with electric shower over the bath. The room also contains a basin with overhead light with shaver point and WC. The delightfully private, enclosed rear garden is very pretty and laid to grass with herbaceous borders, the perfect setting to dine al fresco or to simply sit and chat with a glass of wine in the evening as the sun sets. When you walk under a wooden archway where the garden narrows it then opens out into another secluded area. There is public parking in front of Tea Cosy Cottage. We fell in love with our cottage, we know you will too…we look forward to welcoming you to Tea Cosy Cottage.
Stretton on Fosse is steeped in medieval history and was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, with its two former manor houses owned by King William the Conqueror and King Henry VIII. A lovely book about the village and its history, written by a villager, includes intriguing photographs of Tea Cosy Cottage in days gone by and can be found in the cottage to read, and may also be purchased directly from the author himself. The village is delightful, and the friendly locals will be sure to give you a warm welcome, particularly in the Plough Inn, an award-winning 18th Century country pub with a lovely atmosphere, just 5 minutes’ walk away, serving delicious home cooked food and fine local ales. The pub’s slogan is “enter as strangers – leave as friends.” A stroll up the lane back to the cottage under a spectacularly bright starlit night sky after an evening in the Plough doesn’t get much better! Excellent walks across stunning countryside are plentiful, with horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, hawking, falconry and many other sports such as cycling all available locally. Beautiful historic towns and quintessential Cotswold villages all lie within easy reach, along with castles, manor houses and award-winning gardens. The Cotswolds are known as England’s largest area of outstanding natural beauty, and Tea Cosy Cottage is perfectly placed to explore…
  • A lovely thatched cottage. Perfect location for visiting the Cotswolds -- 20 minutes to most places. Nice quiet village with a great pub with good food. The food parcel was a Lovely touch when we arrived.

  • Wonderful little cottage in the heart of beautiful countryside. Tea Cosy cottage is a quintessential 17th century dwelling with thatched roofing, exposed beams and a wood burning fire. It was immaculately presented with well thought out amenities. Nigel is a great host and clearly a lot of effort has gone into how to make the guest experience as enjoyable as possible. We were greeted with a basket of local produce and daily essentials. Nigel was very responsive to emails and helpful. Tea Cosy cottage is highly recommended!

  • We had a lovely time at Tea Cosy Cottage. The space is perfect, with everything you could need for an idyllic country escape. We especially enjoyed cosying up by the fire and eating at the local pub (The Plough Inn), which had some of the best pub food we've ever had and very friendly staff! The village is small but was very welcoming, with some lovely walks in the area. We never got to meet Nigel, but communication was great throughout our stay. The welcome package was wonderful to arrive to and made settling in easy as we everything we needed for our first morning. All in all, the cottage was the perfect spot for our holiday!

  • Tea Cosy Cottage is beautiful, it's the perfect place to snuggle up with a log fire for a few relaxing nights away. The hosts are very welcoming, quick to respond and had laid the cottage out beautifully with plenty of fresh towels and a basket of goodies and logs to get us started. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The locals are also very friendly and the Plough Inn is within easy walking distance. A great base to explore the Cotswolds.

Garden Cottage sits in the grounds of Warren House with spectacular views of the rolling Cotswold countryside. It is ideally placed for exploring the area around Stow on the Wold and Chipping Camden, as well as being within easy reach of Stratford upon Avon and Oxford. Recently renovated, it provides a stylish and cosy escape for two. An entrance hall leads to high-ceilinged rooms - a large and light sitting/dining room, kitchenette, shower room and lovely double bedroom.
There is a private garden area with table, chairs and a barbecue for guests. A footpath leads directly off the quiet village lane to beautiful countryside beyond. There is an excellent traditional pub within easy walking distance in the village.
  • A beautiful, quiet location- perfect for a weekend away. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and was great for relaxing in after some local sightseeing, Great to also have a comfy bed and cosy furnishings which contributed to a great weekend.

  • We spent a weekend in Miranda's lovely cottage. It is as gorgeous as the photo's suggest - perfectly decorated. The bedroom/living room-dining are great sizes and the kitchenette perfectly suitable for easy dinners (we actually cooked in both nights). In terms of location, everything we wanted to do was a 20 minute drive away, I would highly recommend checking out Daylesford Farm which is a gorgeous shop/restaurant as well as Bourton-on-the-water which is an absolutely adorable little town. Also there's some lovely walks directly in the cottage area so you don't need to drive if you don't want to. The entire weekend/experience is a relaxing getaway. I would love the go back and feel lucky to have gone!

    Megan2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place to stay, beautifully decorated with nice high ceilings and in a nice location. Really comfy bed too, we slept like logs. :-) We only stayed one night, and we were in and out without actually meeting Miranda, but everything was smooth and easy, for which we're very grateful.

In the heart of the Cotswolds, recently converted from an old farm building in a contemporary style with inglenook fireplace and private garden with barbecue - perfect for all seasons. Within walking distance of a great local pub (The Times Best Village Inn 2017), farm shop and cafe in the pretty village of Ebrington. Our nearest town is Chipping Campden. Close to Dalesford and Soho Farmhouse, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Cheltenham and countless beautiful Cotswold villages
The Apple Barn is a recently converted farm building which was originally used to store fruit and vegetables. It combines the traditional features of stone and oak floors and beams, with contemporary fixtures and fittings. Minimum booking is 2 nights. If you wish to extend a weekend booking at either end, please ask for discount details. The house can comfortably accommodate a large family or group of friends that don't mind sharing. There are plenty of extra beds available, but obviously the more beds you add, the more snug the accommodation becomes and the more people sharing the 3 bathrooms. There are 2 good sized ensuite bedrooms on the first floor and a further 2 -bedroom family suite with one ensuite bathroom on the second floor. These bedrooms are conjoined so they make up one large space and are therefore ideal for a family or people that don't mind sharing. The first floor bedrooms have king sized beds (5 foot). Bedroom 1 has a king size bed and a single bed. There is also space in this room for an additional fold up bed. Bedroom 2 also has space for an additional fold up bed, but this needs to be folded away during the day because it blocks access to the wardrobe when set up. The beds on the second floor are Queen (4ft 6") and three single beds. There is room between these 2 areas for an additional fold up bed. There is a large double sofa bed in the sitting room. Cots and highchairs are also available. I'm happy for up 12 people plus infants and pets to stay and there is enough room to seat 12 in the dining room, but it will make the common areas more of a squeeze, especially in the winter when the garden will be less usable. There are enough beds for 14 but you should be aware that the accommodation would be very snug if you had that many people sharing the facilities. Please note that the second floor bedrooms are accessed via a spiral staircase so not suitable for those with mobility difficulties or very young children (see photo) The ground floor is open-plan with a large sitting room, kitchen and dining room. There is a large inglenook fireplace in the sitting room with log-burning stove, TV, DVD player, iPod connectable stereo (via aux cable or old style jack) and football table. The kitchen is well appointed with range cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, breakfast bar. and Smart TV. The dining room has a long refectory table with seating for 10 people. There is also a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and downstairs cloakroom. All rooms are served by wireless broadband. There are two outside areas. At the front of the property there is a lawned area with terrace. To the side is a very private circular terrace with dining area and parasol. This is a particular sun trap and effectively creates an outdoor dining room in fine weather.
Charingworth is a quiet hamlet on the edge of Ebrington. There are fantastic walks nearby, a great local pub and lots to do in the surrounding area. The house is in the Cotswolds but also close to Stratford upon Avon, Oxford and Warwick. The house is located in the middle of the Cotswold countryside. This is a rural location and the nearest village of Ebrington has a farm shop and a village pub. We always knew that our local pub, The Ebrington Arms, was special. Apparently The Times agrees. They have given it the accolade of Best Village Inn and also listed it as one of the in the best summer pubs in the UK. The pub is a short walk away in Ebrington. It's open all day and serves lunch and dinner (booking recommended) as well as snacks at other times. It also offers a very superior take-away fish and chips service. We are very lucky because we have several really good pubs nearby. The Churchill Arms in Paxford also has to get a special mention. The chef/owner (he used to be Head Chef at Soho House and who has worked for Gordon Ramsey, Marcus Wareing and Eric Chavot) has appeared on Saturday Kitchen Live alongside Michel Roux, and his food is really excellent. A new farm shop and cafe has recently opened in the nearby village. This is about 20 minutes walk from the house and close to the village pub. Vegetable Matters offers 'fresh local produce and a warm welcome'. There are general stores in Chipping Campden and Shipston-on-Stour which are both within 4 miles of the property. There is a Waitrose in Stratford-upon-Avon which is about 15 minutes drive away. Ideally you will need a car, although, if guests prefer not to drive. they can arrange supermarket deliveries from Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco. The house is surrounded by beautiful rural Cotswold countryside with many public footpaths, including The Cotswold Way. There are numerous Cotswold stone villages and towns nearby, including Chipping Campden, Broadway, Upper and Lower Slaughter and Stow-on-the-Wold. It is also close to Stratford-upon-Avon and an ideal location for visiting both the theatre and this historic town. Oxford and Blenheim Palace, in Woodstock, are also only a short drive away.
  • Great property and the host was super fast and helpful with all communications. Highly recommend. We were a group of 6 gents and the property suited us perfectly. Host helped with arranging bike hire and other recommendations.

  • We stayed in the Apple Barn for a family reunion over Christmas. 12 people ranging from 6 to 71 years! My mum has mobility problems and uses a wheelchair. Stephanie was brilliant addressing my questions promptly and even measured doorways ! On arrival we saw there was a Christmas tree and lovely open fire in the living room which really made it feel festive and home from home. It even snowed which was beautiful but caused some problems with our cars. Stephanie was super helpful and even offered to give us some food supplies when we couldn't get to the supermarket! The Barn is beautifully renovated and each room is en suite which was brilliant. We had a wonderful walk down the country lanes and enjoyed a mulled wine at the Ebrington Arms pub. Gorgeous village, just what you'd expect from the Cotswolds. Can't recommend it enough, we can't wait to return!

  • Highly recommended

    Claire2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Apple Barn with another couple and enjoyed it very much. The house is clean, very well appointed and located in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds. Stephanie thought of all the details, right down to a supply of milk and coffee for our next morning’s breakfast. She was readily available and willing to answer questions but also gave us plenty of privacy. Everything in the house worked just as it should and we would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to friends and fellow travelers.

    Greg and Rich2016-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, pictures don't do it justice. Stephanie was amazing with contact before and during our trip and put us in contact with Alex the chef who provided us with an incredible meal! Couldn't recommend more!

    Liv2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Apple Barn. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Stephanie was very responsive to all of our queries and the welcome we received on arrival was warm and generous. The location of Apple Barn is great; far enough away from the big centres to feel like a break, without being so far that it feels isolated. We went for a lovely walk to Chipping Campden (a leisurely hour each way) and enjoyed a great Sunday lunch at the Ebrington Arms in the next village. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Apple Barn and are almost certain that we shall return at some stage.

    Amy2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about the Apple Barn! The house is gorgeous with every detail finished to perfection. In our group of seven, everyone agreed the beds were the most comfortable of our entire trip. Stephanie was very responsive and helpful, giving us lots of advice and tips for the area. She even provided milk, coffee, and tea—such a nice thing to wake up to! One thing to note is that the third and fourth bedrooms on the top floor are accessed by a narrow spiral staircase, so if there are any elderly or tricky knees in your group, plan accordingly! We had such a wonderful time at the Apple Barn and I cannot wait to return!!

    Ashley2016-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Apple Barn is so lovely - would recommend it to anyone! We were 10 people strong and it was a perfect size for us. Stephanie was incredibly helpful on all aspects of our stay too, and always responded super quickly. Every little detail was thought of. Our favourite was the little courtyard back garden, complete with fireplace, it was so cute. I had such a good time!! Thank you Stephanie!

An outstanding Cotswolds home set in a quiet countryside location surrounded by fields, with a pub within walking distance. The house is a superb luxury option with a large private garden - ideal for families or groups of friends. Quite simply, we think it is spectacular!! • Stunning home in a secluded part of the Cotswolds. Simply gorgeous and extremely comfortable for a party of 6... maybe even too comfortable! We struggled to leave because it was so heavenly. Jayne was a wonderful host and left clear instructions and great communication of local amenities. Everything a drive away, but perhaps not for someone looking to be in the centre of things. Jayne's house offers peace and serenity and a perfect location for a family weekend - we stayed for my 30th birthday and it couldn't have been better. Thanks Janye!

  • A truly lovely house & garden, we stayed with friends & 4 children & there was so much communal space to accommodate all, but a really cosy, calm & fresh vibe. The house is simply & beautifully decorated, the whole house brilliantly appointed, the kitchen has everything you might ever need. Jayne was quick to respond, helpful & friendly. We had a great stay & would thoroughly recommend the property. Thanks Jayne!

Arrange your dinner before you settle in as I couldnt find take outs near enough to deliver. I would advise on having breakfast there - they have a beautiful kitchen overlooking a bright garden - good way to start your day!

  • We enjoyed our brief stay at Alison's place. The room (and bathroom) was clean, comfortable, as described and value for money. Alison was friendly and helpful in sorting out an issue with parking our van. We also enjoyed the home made cake on arrival ! Having a separate entrance to the room was great at night when we returned late. I would definitely recommend to others.

  • I have no concerns in recommending Claire's B & B, a lovely thatched cottage in Gloucestershire. Although we only stayed for one night as we had a wedding in the area, from Claire's early check in, tea in the garden and a marvellous breakfast you couldn't ask for anymore from a hostess. The bedrooms were warm, comfortable and clean with good bathroom and shower facilities...... what more would you want.

  • The place was amazing. Everything you need is already there and the hosts are more than helpful during your stay.

    Ebony2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny and Peter's place is wonderful - our only regret was not being able to stay longer! I suspect that it will become our regular Cotswold base. The living/kitchen area is spacious and comfortable. We made a lovely cooked breakfast with the ingredients thoughtfully provided, and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The bed was very comfortable, and on a side note, the bedding and towels were really lovely quality. We met Peter at the beginning of our stay, and stayed in touch by phone. He suggested a lovely local gastropub (The Churchill Arms in Paxton) and let us know that we were welcome to enjoy the (beautiful!) garden. We felt very welcome. Thank you!

  • This is a beautiful home finished to a high standard in a stunning country location. Sleeps 10 adults comfortably but the living and dining rooms would be more comfortable for a smaller group. The welcome pack was great and it was good to know what to expect ahead so that we could shop accordingly. The housekeeper was readily available though we did not need any extra service. Highly recommended.

  • Newlands Farmhouse is a truly stunning place to stay in the pretty village of Aston Magna. The hosts Peter and Ginny were warm and welcoming in their beautiful home and by the end of our stay it felt almost like staying with friends. Their attention to detail was fantastic with tea/coffee making facilities in the room and bottles of water too. The bedroom and bathroom were absolutely lovely and set slightly away from the the rest of the house which afforded a nice bit of privacy and the bedding was luxurious and of high quality. Our hosts were on hand and very willing to share information and recommendations for walks and pubs etc but were not at all intrusive which was the perfect balance of hospitality. Breakfast was fabulous, with a delicious array of fruit, nuts, cheese, ham and warm pastries all served by Peter in the sun bathed dining room. This really is an exceptional place to stay and we would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Charming Cotswold cottage with private garden, perfect for dogs and children to run around safely.

  • Amazing place to stay! Beautiful area, amazing walks. The set up of the studio is perfect and the pictures do not do it justice of how lovely it actually is. Jill made an effort to say hello and make sure we were happy and the advice provided by her on the area and local places to see was really useful and much appreciated. Overall brilliant get away, would recommend to anyone

  • This is a charming studio, with nice decoration and a very comfortable bed! The bathroom was large and comfortable also. The hosts are very kind and had prepared many good things to eat and drink for the breakfast. They have a very nice garden and there is a very good pub in front of the house. We strongly recommend this place.

  • Had a great stay. The location was peaceful and quiet and nicely private from the house. The stream and the horses were a treat for my young daughter as was the ample grass space. The house was quaint and comfortable, not new but very homely and quite spacious. We had a wonderful stay, location also close enough to all the attractions we wanted to see.

    Shane2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Marvelous for walks in the area following footpaths and visiting Cotswold villages. Tom's place is comfortable and exactly like the photos. We are hoping to come again as the quiet and beauty are very special.

We would return.

My annexe is a mile from the beautiful town of Moreton in Marsh, in the heart of the Cotswolds. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful setting down our very long drive! (not suitable for smart sports cars - there are a few potholes!) Hopefully my chickens will have laid eggs for your breakfast and a big woodburner to keep you warm at night! We are close at hand if you need us. Please ensure you understand the 2nd bedroom isn't a proper bedroom, though very comfortable.
the cabin consists of one large room with kitchenette, woodburner and a couple of sofas (1 is a sofa bed). There is the main bedroom with a kingsize bed and then the 2nd bedroom is a mezzanine, up a ladder and therefore open to the whole room (see photos). It is comfortable with 2 single beds but if you want to use it, please ensure you are ok with the fact it is more like glamping than a proper room.
  • This is a beautiful place. The accommodation is superb and Louise is incredibly helpful and obliging. It was a great overnight stop on our cycle tour.

    Judy2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic space, I surprised my wife with a long weekend birthday getaway, I was looking for somewhere with character and a great location and this did not dissapoint. Lousie was very helpful with directions and we arrived to a roaring fire and fresh eggs on the table. We would definitely stay here again and we would recommend it to anyone who wants a great little base to explore the Cotswolds from.

    Nathan2017-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days staying at Louise’s place. It was exactly as described, better than the photos if anything. Louise was very accommodating, allowed us to bring our dog with us to stay and gave lots of helpful tips and directions. The log fire in particular was incredible and the annexe is within 20 mins drive of most of the sights you would want to visit in the Cotswolds. Would highly recommend to anyone.

  • Lovely place in a very quiet secluded area. As others have said it's off the beaten track a bit so definitely need to drive into town, however it's a fab base to explore other areas.

  • We highly recommend staying at this lovely cottage. We had a relaxing stay at this beautiful house. The surroundings were stunning and were excellent for walks (long or short) and for seeing local wildlife. Louise and her husband made us feel very welcome. They went to extra efforts to make us comfortable and were happy to offer tips and recommendations about the local area. It was the perfect balance between privacy and easy contact when asked for. The cottage itself is great. It’s very cosy and has everything you need. It’s spacious and nicely decorated. The wood burning stove is a real plus. Thank you very much for having us. It’s been a real treat!

Our house is close to Stratford on Avon, Oxford, Warwick.....and many other tourist destinations in and around the Cotswolds. It is an ideal starting place if you want to explore the glorious countryside in this part of England. It is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Ours is a modern house on a quiet estate within close proximity (less than a mile) to the town of Shipston on Stour where there are numerous inns and eateries. Buses run from nearby to Oxford and Stratford, and in the town itself there is a bus that travels to Banbury. There are many points of interest within a short drive away, including Moreton in Marsh (trains travel from here to Paddington), Stow on the Wold, Broadway, Cheltenham, etc. Birmingham is approximately 45 mins drive, or can be reached by train from Stratford. We (my husband Col, and me) are retired, and around most of the day, so are happy to assist with our knowledge of the area. We serve breakfast of juice, fresh bread and toast, preserves, yogurt, cereals, freshly brewed tea and coffee. For those who prefer a cooked breakfast, this can be arranged with notice (let us know the night before).
The town of shipston on Stour is less than a mile away from our house. There is a nice selection of shops, inns and a pharmacy.

  • Colin and Jan have a beautiful home and garden and are a very approachable and lovely couple. They both ensure that our stay was comfortable and pleasant and provided us with everything we required. The location is also perfect since there is a lack of hotels or b & b's available in the area. I highly recommend this property to any couples or small families.

  • If you are staying in the Cotswolds, want to visit Stratford-upon-Avon, or want a quiet retreat in the country, Jan and Col's home is perfect! They are such delightful hosts; we kept forgetting that we didn't know them before. It felt just like staying with old friends. Their house is lovely, spotlessly clean, and really comfortable. They have a beautiful garden and Colin showed us all the work he's done out there, and his fantastic hobby shed where he does his woodworking. Breakfast was fantastic, tea and hot chocolate in the evening, and great recommendations about drives to take in the beautiful area. Really lovely stay with a charming and friendly couple.

    Rob2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • A super stay with wonderful hosts. The room is lovely and cosy with access to a modern, airy bathroom with good sized shower. Bed is comfortable and felt right at home with slippers, little toiletries and lots of tea, coffee and cake provided! Breakfast was delicious and had more than I could eat. Jan and her husband are great hosts, going above and beyond what I expected and I would 100% recommend them to anyone staying in the shipston area.

    Dominique2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jan & Col's place is so lovely, absolutely pristine and very welcoming. We felt very at home here! As soon as we walked through the door we were offered coffee and cake which was a lovely touch. Breakfast in the morning was really yummy (lots of choice!) and set us up for the day. Jan and Col are both really friendly and we loved hearing about their travels and swapping stories :-) highly recommend staying at their fab home!

  • Fantastic stay at Eloise's place in the Cotswolds. Eloise was extremely helpful with recommendations and left us a great breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend!

    Matthew2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Eloise was a fantastic host. The flat was beautiful and much bigger than it looks in the pictures. She left lots of little nice extras that made our stay really special. Wine, juice, milk and other bits in the fridge, eggs, and cake. The bathroom was also equipped with all the toiletries we needed and even bath oils. The sofa was comfortable and there was a very good size TV in the lounge (we took our Amazon stick with us). The bed was very comfortable and there were lovely views from the bedroom and lounge windows. There was also lots of Cotswolds guides, magazines and leaflets which helped us set up our itinerary for the 3 days we stayed. The local pub was only around 7 minutes walking distance away, very lovely but more on the 'posh' side if you are looking for a traditional country pub meal. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Cotswolds to celebrate my birthday and I could not have expected a more special time.I would definitely recommend Eloise's flat and I would love to come back again! :)

Eloise left us delicious and very good quality fruits, cereal, bread, eggs, cakes, etc. to enjoy during our stay there. • Lovely house but directions were poor (especially when arriving in the dark) and host was unreachable when I needed to contact her.

  • Such a lovely little place perfect for a long weekend with friends. Easy to get to and well located for exploring the Cotswolds Way and local area. The house is really well equipped and was the perfect size for two couples. Even better that the local pub is less than a minutes' walk. Would thoroughly recommend!

  • My friends and I booked a night away in the Cotswolds and decided to stay at Jo & Brian’s because it looked lovely and has such fantastic reviews! We had such a lovely time! The little converted barn is really beautiful and very homely and Jo & Brian were very accommodating. Brian kindly gave us a lift in to Chipping Campden to pick up a takeaway! We will definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the Cotswolds and hope to come back for another visit! Thank you both x

  • My family and myself really enjoyed our stay at the Quarters. Easy commute to my family members in nearby Banbury. The flat itself is stylish but cosy and welcoming. We arrived to parking right outside flat and to a lovely welcome of baked goods and dairy products, which was needed after our late arrival. Ben and Katie were excellent hosts. As a first time Airbnb experience this exceeded my expectations and will definitely look to book here again for future visits to Warwickshire.

  • We really enjoyed staying at the property in Shipston - it was really well placed for us to explore the Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon. The property is in the centre of Shipston. Shipston is a small town but it has supermarkets, pubs and restaurants - these were all within five minutes' walk of the flat. The flat is in pristine condition and is decorated to a really high specification, and had all the facilities we needed. There wasn't a microwave, but we managed fine with the oven. One nice touch was that there were maps and guides in the flat - handy for when we were driving and hiking around the local area. There was access to Netflix, iPlayer etc on the television as well. As five of us were staying, we did find that there wasn't enough hot water for us all to have hot showers in the morning - it didn't bother us too much, but wanted to note it. However, other than that, the central heating in the property was very good, and we always had enough hot water to wash dishes etc. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at this property and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

  • We had a wonderfully quiet and peaceful stay at The Nook. Ben was the perfect host, giving us great directions and instructions and making us feel really welcome. The flat is really cosy and nicely fitted out, with everything you might need for a relaxing stay in Shipston as well as parking close by. We would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Really lovely apartment in the centre of Shipston, tucked away on the first floor so that it's still quiet and private. A lovely touch was that the heating and lights were already on when we arrived which made it very welcoming. We were the first to stay at Ben's place and it was lovely to have a few extras included, like firewood for the log-burner, tips for local amenities and a bottle of wine ready and waiting in the fridge. The building had also just been renovated and kept lots of the original features mixed with modern additions and decor throughout. A really well thought out flat for anything from a weekend away to a longer trip, I've already recommended to family!

  • We loved our stay at The Nook. We arrived on a cold winter's night to find the apartment toasty warm - great welcome. The facilities are fantastic - quality fixtures and fittings - everything you could possibly need for your stay. Good choice of pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. Shipston is a delightful little market town. Thank you to Ben and Katie for their helpfulness and hospitality - we'll be back!

  • We had a wonderful time staying in Jill's lovely cottage. It is beautiful with lovely walks and pubs close by. When we arrived there was milk and croissants for us - Jill also recommended lots of things to do which was really useful! Highly recommend staying in this cottage if you want to switch off and relax.

  • Jill and her husband are very welcoming and friendly :-) The cottage is beautifully decorated, in a romantic and old-fashioned style. It is so cosy, and everything is neat and clean. This is the perfect place for an English country-living experience :-)

  • Jill communicated the location of her property to me well in advance and has been great in showing me around the house upon my arrival. The descriptions provided hasn't been very accurate. There is no wifi connectivity in the house except one of the bedroom and the connectivity is also quite weak from there. There is strong connectivity from the backyard of the house but was told that the backyard is intended for private use only. However, it is alright to use the backyard if it is for the purpose of using the wifi. The house is surrounded with beautiful private gardens and it's about 10 miles drive to the next busiest town, Stratford and that takes about 30 minutes of careful driving. It is advisable to check the towels given during check-in and so all are aware to prevent misunderstanding. Overall, a nice place to stay if wifi is not a need and if you will be out most of the times because there is no sitting room available in this house.

  • Lovely host, lovely place to stay! Jill is a great advert for Airbnb... She was super friendly and went out of her way to be welcoming. The cottage was clean and really well presented. Log fire made up ready to light, and provisions for breakfast. We made good use of the kitchen for curries and roasts. Lovely pub walks to Chipping Campden and Ebrington. Would highly recommend the Walnut Wing for a cozy get-away.

  • If you want the perfect English countryside experience, this is the house and the place to do it. You will feel as if you have walked onto a movie set. The grounds are stunning, with flowers and a well-kept tennis court steps away from grazing sheep and a beautiful trail that takes you through the woods and along the hill side. The house itself, while cozy, was perfect for our family's short stay. Jill was incredibly helpful prior to our trip and during. She has an amazing quality to be around just when you need her. We were warmly greeted by her and she even left us some goodies to hold us over until we could get to the store. I can not recommend Jill and this property enough.

Leur maison est très cosy et le petit déjeuner plus que raisonnable. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié. Audrey & Hicham
