Places to stay in Tiverton

Places to stay in Tiverton
A lovely self-contained ground floor flat within an old farmers cottage. Bright spacious lounge, fully equipped kitchen, shower room, double bedroom and outside patio area. Canal walks, town centre and large Tesco all a short walk away I am sorry but I can no longer accommodate pets at present.
The flat was converted in 2014, featuring brand new fittings throughout. It is a comfortable size for a couple, with a particularly nice bright lounge and a decent size fully functioning kitchen with a fridge freezer and a washing machine. I am happy to leave bread/ milk cereals for breakfast. there is a wi fi connection.
Canal Hill is a pleasant road with a mixture of old and new properties, mostly detached. It hosts the entrance to the Great Western Canal (100m from the flat), which offers pleasant canal-side walking and a horse drawn boat in the summer. Tiverton is well located for visiting the beautiful Devonshire countryside, and the north and south Devon coastlines are both within driving distance for enjoyable day-trips. The historic cathedral city of Exeter is accessible via a pretty 30 minute drive through the Exe Valley countryside or via the motorway if you prefer. Night life in Tiverton itself is fairly quiet but there are a good variety of pubs and restaurants to keep you entertained. There are also several country pubs within a short driving distance. Bickliegh Mill is a lovely coffee/ gift shop and restaurant located a short drive away in the Exe Valley. The Fisherman's Cot is a popular pub on the River Exe with a beautiful outdoor seating area offering riverside views of Bickleigh Bridge.
  • A delightful place to stay in Tiverton. Would highly recommend Sheila's place

I live in the old part of Tiverton town - just south of the river Exe. It's a historical mid-Devon town with easy access to Exmoor and Dartmoor and the north and south coastline. Main supermarkets are nearby (Morrisons, Tesco, Marks & Spencer) plus a fantastic local bakery, butcher and wine store a stones-throw away! Also close by is a recommended Indian cuisine restaurant/takeaway and excellant fish-n-chips eat-in or takeaway. The beautiful Knighthayes Court (https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/knightshayes) owned by the National Trust is also very close which has lovely open gardens, fields and idyllic woodland. Open all year round from 7 am. The scenic Grand Western Canal begins in Tiverton and winds its way north many miles ending at Lowdwells which is also great for dog walkers.

  • A clean, tidy and spacious cottage overlooking a deer park. Excellent amenities. Bedrooms are spacious with room for hanging your clothes. Nice hot tub and decking area. Very peaceful location - ideal if you just want to get away from it all. Deishan was a lovely host and very responsive to requests.

    Mike2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nice to stay, clean and feels homely. Hot tub with the roof is nice. Quiet area, nice views.

    Andrew2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Location was great, easy parking right next to the diggs. Nice little grass area to let the dogs toilet, Deishan also owns the fields behind and gave us directions for a nice short loop of a couple fields to excersise the dogs. Scones and eggs was a nice touch. The place itself was nice and clean, fairly new build I'd say with everything finished nicely. Outside patio area to lead to the hot tub. We'll maintained with D coming round twice a day to check it (guessing the temp and chlorine levels but I wouldn't know) heated tiled floor throughout so no worries of the dogs getting any carpets mucky.

    Jake2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice cottage!

    Olga2019-10-02T00:00:00Z

Self-contained apartment at end of large farmhouse - with its own separate access and parking, kitchen / living room, double bedroom, bathroom and utility with washer and dryer. Superfast broadband, Sky TV including Movies, Sky Sports and BT Sport. Outside table, chairs and barbecue. There are extensive portfolios in the house detailing our favourite pubs and restaurants, walks and days out.
Very light, airy apartment for X2 with well equipped kitchen area and generous living space. Gas-fired stove in addition to central heating makes the living area super-cosy in winter. Very unusual indeed for rural Devon is the availability of fibre broadband! For the rainy days the full Sky TV package is a real bonus! The kitchen area is equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge / ice box, dishwasher, mixer, toaster etc. and everything to enable you to cook with ease. The utility room has an automatic washing machine and separate tumble drier. There is a large TV. A Bluetooth speaker lets you play your own music. WiFi is available throughout the apartment.
Very centrally situated in Mid-Devon. Rural and peaceful. 5 minutes drive from North Devon Link road, A361 giving excellent links to M5, North Devon coast etc. 10 minutes from Tiverton with supermarkets etc.
  • We had a fantastic stay in a very well appointed cottage.it was lovely and clean and very good value.

  • A beautiful and modern flat in a great countryside location. Very comfortable with great facilities and friendly and helpful hosts!

    Adam2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous place! My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks ‘working from home’ but in this lovely Airbnb. The WiFi made it possible but the thoughtful details made it a home from home. We both worked at the table after extending it out and had no trouble. Plenty of pubs nearby and there’s plenty of info about the pubs and also walks and things to do. Kitchen was super, underfloor heating in the bathroom was delicious, the bed was warm and comfy, the washing machine was great, everywhere was so clean, plenty of parking and we even snuck our bikes into the barn outside. It was a bit hilly for cycling in my opinion but my husband went out most days. There’s so much of Devon to see from this base, we would come back and do it all over again! Also communication was quick and lovely and we were met in person on arrival. Can’t fault anything!

Accepting Key Workers only until the end of April. The Market Hideaway is the perfect place to escape a busy everyday life and relax in a cosy, stylish cottage in the traditional market town of Tiverton. The Victorian house has been carefully renovated by a designer and comprises of two generous double bedrooms and two smaller singles. The cottage has a spacious kitchen and living room, bathroom and additional downstairs loo. The garden is tucked away at the back of the house.
The kitchen is equipped with all the things you need for a short stay. There is wifi, a good shower and comfortable beds. There is a desk in one of the top bedrooms. The house is tucked away on a pedestrian street right next to Tiverton Market. There is a large carpark just 100 yards from the front door. (the carpark is metered but there is free parking on neighbouring streets if you don't mind a short walk, its £1 all day on Sundays) There is a convenience store 2 minutes walk away and the town high street is around the corner. Tiverton is a quiet country town but there are a number of nice pubs, restaurants and boutiques in walking distance and many more a short car journey away. Tiverton Castle is very close by! Please do ask if you would like recommendations. The north coast is a 40 minute drive away and highly recommended. I aim to make the property as low impact and eco friendly as possible. Natural cleaning products are used where possible and I appreciate guests who take note of the recycling system. The house has been decorated using vintage furniture where possible and is as plastic free as possible.
Devon is famous for its beautiful walks and there are plenty to try from Tiverton. The canal is pretty much on your doorstep and there are many places to visit in the surrounding area from National Trust houses to cathedrals, boutiques to beaches. • Claudia was very communicative and accommodating of our request to check in early due to having to get to a wedding on time. We found the lock to be a bit sticky when we tried to leave the house (I think we found a wiggling technique to work best) but other than that it was a very comfortable stay, very clean and well supplied with blankets.

  • A lovely accommodation in the centre of town. Clean, comfortable and a very well organised host. Made for a great stay!

  • Great little cottage in Tiverton

    Edward2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • lovely welcoming house, tastefully furnished. All bedrooms comfortable. I'd only say that we found it hard to find free parking and had to used the paid car park most of the time. The car park is not expensive but only allows for two hours. We managed, but there was a bit of running about to keep moving the car. This may have been bad timing on our part but perhaps could have been made clearer. However, I'd still stay again- we really enjoyed our stay.

The place is in a gorgeously historical location, next to a ruined mill, where it would be great to sit in warmer weather. Jane was very attentive, and made sure we always had everything we wanted, but we were left to enjoy our privacy too. Couldn't have wished for a better experience. Highly recommended.

  • I highly recommend this room in a pretty Devon cottage not far from Tiverton parkway station. Lovely bathroom too. Caroline is very welcoming and the room is set out beautifully. It's a lovely cottage with a great garden. In case you're wondering, it does have WiFi as well. Halberton is also a very sweet little village; 250 yards from the cottage is nice pub that also serves good food and has friendly staff. To conclude, I couldn't recommend this airbandb highly enough. Go for it!

  • Lovely quiet place to stay, room was great, amazing value, wonderful host. Can’t fault it!

    Grace2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is a warm and elegant person, living in her home is very free and comfortable, just like in her own home, the bed is clean and comfortable, the bathroom is next to the room, the kitchen is large, and you can use it casually. Because I was rushing to London for a train, Caroline deliberately drove me to solve my big problem, thank her very much.

  • Partridge Farm has been the perfect break for our group. Gorgeous views with such a cosy feel inside. The personal touches of freshly baked scones and a log fire definitely welcomed us to Devon, and were very much enjoyed after a days full of walking the beautiful surrounding areas. Was sad to leave and already planning our next visit.

    Sophie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fab place to stay at any time of the year. The place is really well set up for group get togethers. There were 5 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog and we all had lots of space and easy relaxing and celebrating - in the hot tub during storm dennis, or in front of the fab fire in the lounge. We brought lots of food n drink and there was loads of room for storing, cooking and eating. Location is fab - overlooking a beautiful valley near tiverton, and within easy reach of exeter, and both north and south coasts. wish we’d been there longer!!

    Sue2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in the country. Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends. Charlotte was a great host and so easy to communicate with. The house was spacious and perfect in every way. Would definitely go back, especially at Christmas!

  • Amazing weekend with friends in this beautiful farmhouse. We loved our stay; perfect Farmhouse with lots of lovely touches. We are already planning our next trip back to Partridge Farmhouse.

    Rebecca2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Arriving at Partridge Farm on a soggy Friday afternoon we were warmly greeted by Charlotte who had thoughtfully lit the wood burner and left us a delicious cream tea with homemade scones. We were so impressed with the space in the cottage. All of the rooms are spacious and cosy and the beds are really comfy. The kitchen is also very well equipped and it’s lovely to stay somewhere where there are enough sofas for all of us! The hot tub was a real plus and seven of us enjoyed wallowing in the hot bubbles with our chilled bubbly. The surrounding area is pleasingly unspoilt with a real feeling of space and there are far reaching views from almost every room. There are lovely walks and characterful pubs nearby. We all loved our stay at Partridge Farmhouse and very much look forward to returning. Many thanks.

A dog friendly, cosy, bright one bedroomed cottage on the banks of the beautiful Grand Western Canal.
A beautiful, cosy, light filled cottage with gorgeous views across the Grand Western Canal to the fields and hills beyond. It has a comfortable king sized bed with a small ensuite with a rainfall shower. It is in a large garden on the banks of the canal - a truly lovely place for all to enjoy.
This is a rural farming community in a quiet area, right on the edge of the village. The Grand Western Canal is literally on the doorstep and runs for 11 miles. It also forms part of the National Cycle Network. About an 8 minute walk away there is a fantastic farm shop with PYO soft fruits in the summer and a lovely cafe. The Hickory Inn is 15 minutes away if walking. We are just off Junction 27 of the M5 and so it is a great place to explore the whole of Devon and even into Somerset and Cornwall.
  • This is a lovely little cottage only a few steps from the tranquil canal towpaths-great for evening walks. The cottage itself is very stylish and well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay-the provision of breakfast basics is a great idea! Communication with the owner was excellent and she really made us feel at home. I'm sure any visitor will enjoy a peaceful country retreat at Canal Cottage

  • A lovely cottage in a lovely location next to a canal which is great for walking. The cottage itself is set in a lovely garden and has a conservatory so you can watch the wildlife. There is a great pub that does good food just down the road. Juliet provides all the essential, tea, coffee, milk, bread jam & butter. Its a perfect place to relax and unwind.

    Simon2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the place. Wouldn't change a thing. We came (with our dog) and had a lovely time. The place is lovely, and garden is beautiful. We used it as a base for some great walking and loved collapsing back at the cottage at the end of the day. The kitchen had the essential breakfast items you'd want (milk, tea and coffee, bread, butter, jam, etc) so we just showed up and settled in. We'd definitely recommend this place.

    Shelly2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Canal Cottage was great. The communication we had with Juliet was always very swift and helped to make our stay very easy. The accomodation is really well thought out and decorated and we were very comfortable there. There was everything we needed for our stay and we loved the little touches (milk, butter, jam) that again helped to make our stay so easy. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

  • The description is very accurate and the property comfortable and warm. With bread, butter, marmalade, jam & tea, coffe & milk provided there’s no need to shop on your way. • We stayed here for 4 months after we sold our house before moving to the Midlands. As a long let, Sarah added extra amenities i.e. a fridge, armchairs, microwave, heater to make our stay during the winter months cosy and homely. The accommodation was cleaned weekly with fluffy fresh towels. Sarah was a great host, contacting us regularly to make sure we were happy. The views were amazing and we would not hesitate to recommend Sarah’s place for short or long stays.

    Karen2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed just one night at Sarah’s place as I was going to a friend’s party nearby, so unfortunately I didn’t spend that much time there. It is a really lovely place, with fabulous views from the deck outside the room; it would be perfect for a longer stay especially in the summer when you could sit out there in the evenings! The room itself was great, with a very comfortable bed, plenty of storage, and a decent TV (which I didn’t watch but did use as a radio while I was getting ready to go out). The small lobby area has a kettle, fridge and the makings of tea and coffee, and there is a beautiful shower room and separate toilet. Everything is stylishly decorated in relaxing tones, and was sparkling clean.

  • Tack Cottage is a well converted space in the stable block of Hillersdon House. Upstairs is a very comfortable super king bed in a spacious bedroom, downstairs is a well fitted shower room and living area with a fitted hob and microwave and a full size refrigerator. We loved walking in the deer park and round the lakes and having peacocks roaming past our door. Very quiet and restful, no TV, time to chill. Thanks for having us. We only stayed 2 nights but will remember and cherish the experience.

  • The best airbnb experience we've had. The cottage is on a gorgeous estate that you can explore, with several lakes and an amazing drive up to the main house. Both Annabelle and Mike were really lovely and welcoming and gave us some good tips of places to visit. The cottage itself had lots of lovely touches like fresh flowers and fruit; the bed was huge and very comfy and the shower was great too. Really recommend, would love to come back.

    Kate2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and lovely place to stay. Great finishing touches and Annabelle was very friendly. Only downside was it was difficult to find without a sat nav!

    Adam2019-08-26T00:00:00Z

  • Cottage was modern and came with lots of extras some from local farm...yummy. Amazing views and lots of red deer, immaculately clean, great place to relax and unwind.

  • Andrew and Jill were great hosts, friendly and approachable. They responded to a couple of queries I had quickly. The cottages have stunning views of the fields and woods where you can see deer and wildlife and are very clean and well catered for.

  • This is a truly beautiful place to stay in Devon. Jill and Andrew are perfect hosts respecting your privacy but there if you need them. The cottage is immaculate and modern with tasteful decor. Highly recommended!!

  • You can expect a warm welcome along with little extras like fresh flowers, local milk sausages and not forgetting the biscuits. The barn conversion is of a high standard throughout and the views are awesome. We had planned our days out but found it was so peaceful and tranquil we stayed in and enjoyed the decking area and the numerous visits of the deer. The ideal place to de-stress.

  • Remote location but worth the effort. Beautiful countryside views, not a motorised sound to be heard. Peaceful, relaxing, clean, comfortable beds, excellent. Would book again.

  • We had a wonderful stay at The Garden Cottage. All the added extras such a coffee, milk, eggs etc were very much appreciated and made life so much easier. The Garden Cottage was very clean and tidy and was the perfect pit stop for our one night stay after a long drive down on the way to visit friends.

  • We only stayed one night at Garden Cottage but wished we could have stayed longer! Perfectly located near to great local amenities and lovely walks, such a lovely spot to unwind and completely switch off. Clare had thought of everything, with special touches throughout. A wonderful, peaceful (and spotless) cottage with everything you could possibly need. Can’t wait to go back!

  • Just returned from a three night stay in this lovely cottage in the sweet village of Bampton. Lots of lovely walks in the nearby National Park. Clare was fabulous host and the cottage was warm and cosy. The dogs loved it too!

    Clive2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a little gem! Perfect location in the village and close to lots of great eateries. Lovely fish and chips from the local chip shop, breakfast at the Toucan (super dog friendly) and evening meal at The Swan. The accommodation was immaculately clean and well equipped. We were slightly worried when it said electric heating but they were efficient heaters rather than night storage heaters and kept the place really cosy even during Storm Ciara. The woodburner was lovely for nights in and Clare kept us topped up with logs. Perfect base for us to explore the area with our dog. Thank you Clare.

  • Cosy, beautifully furnished and in a handy location close to the village and walks, what’s not to love about this cottage? We visited in January and so the log-burning stove was a highlight for us. Clare made us welcome and the complimentary groceries were a surprise and much appreciated. Would definitely recommend.

  • A cosy and spotlessly clean cottage for 2. Clare was so thoughtful and provided all the essentials (and more) for our stay. Fantastic communications and we would highly recommend to any couple wanting to visit the area...

  • We have just got home from a week in Oak view at Nibbs Farm. We had a really relaxing week and very much enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very spacious, clean, comfortable and has lots of special extras such as the hot tub, land to explore welcome scones, and the most fabulous view, especially at sunrise (which we saw and photographed every day as we took a toddler with us who was up at that time). The cottage is really well placed for exploring both North and South Devon, and we popped into Tiverton and the flying pickle for lunch which was recommended by Deishan and very nice! The beds were really comfy and all the bedding etc smelt really clean and fresh. Additionally, having a toddler with you means you spend a lot of time on the floor, it was really nice to see all the under furniture areas were really clean too, (which is often not the case) and we didn’t mind sitting in the floor with her because of this. Finally, being able to take a dog with us, and stay somewhere so nice, where there was no evidence dogs had ever been was great, again speaking time the cleanliness of the place. Deishan also answered all our questions both before and after arrival and was very helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay, would really recommend and would consider coming back and bringing family and using both cottages.

  • My first experience of airbnb and it surpassed every expectation. We booked very last minute and were welcomed with opened arms in what were very difficult circumstances. The accommodation is set in a beautiful location and is immaculate inside. Deishan is a fantastic host, discreet and professional and the finishing touches are fabulous making the lodge feel like a home from home. The freshly made scones were greatly appreciated on our arrival. I would recommend the lodge without hesitation.

  • The photos don’t do the property justice it’s so big inside. Spotlessly clean with scones and fresh eggs on arrival. We had enough kitchen equipment to cook a full Christmas dinner. We enjoyed the hot tub watching the deer, the beautiful sunrises. The WIFi was great and we also had Netflix, board games and DVDs. Lots of lovely little walks near by, dog friendly.

    Emma2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place to stay. The property is modern and stylish with everything you would need. There is lots of local information inside the property to help you explore the area and for local amenities. If you would prefer to stay in, the property is spacious yet cosy and some nice Christmas touches made it even more special. We were greeted with a cream tea which was very welcome after a 6 hour drive, as of course was the hot tub. Deishan was a perfect host and lovely to talk to. Finally you have to mention the views and the beautiful deer playing in the next field. We would certainly recommend Deishan and Nibbs Farm Cottages to everyone.

  • What a lovely place, breathtaking views from the hot tub, beautifully clean and dog friendly

    Dawn2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely weekend at Oak View Cottage. The views are stunning, particularly from the hot tub which helpfully had a new roof to keep off any bad weather (although we were very lucky!). There are lots of little touches that make the stay just that bit more special - be it the afternoon tea awaiting our arrival, the fresh eggs or flowers. Deishan was also an excellent hostess and very communicative. We will definitely be back.

  • You will not be disappointed staying at Nibbs Cottages. The views with the deer are such a special sight to see. The cottage itself is so clean and well maintained. Cream tea on arrival was amazing (the scones were still warm) and the hot tub is a luxurious extra which was welcomed after being out all day. Everything is well thought of inside right down to there being a slow cooker in the cupboard! We will definitely be returning next year to recharge our batteries!
