Places to stay in Wasco
Queen bed with a private bathroom. Bathroom has a tub (no shower). Price includes continental breakfast (granola, yogurt, fruit, pastry coffee, juice).
Charming historic home built in 1900. The prefect place to stay while you tour the wineries and wonders of the east Columbia Gorge.
Wasco is a small rural city with a population of approximately 400. There is no restaurant in Wasco - the closest dinner options are in Biggs and Rufus, both about 9 miles from Wasco. There is A grocery/liquor store (open 8am- 6pm Mon-Sat, 10am-2 pm Sunday), and post office - both are within a couple of blocks of out house.

  • Very happy to have found this beautiful relaxing B&B in Wasco & look forward to returning next time I get to visit with my friend from high school. I used to stay 10 miles away in Biggs so not having that drive is great.

    Terry2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and clean, the B&B was a delight. Dave was an excellent host.

    Dennis2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Dave are gracious, friendly hosts. We had everything we needed in a clean, comfortable setting. We appreciated suggestions for food and local offerings such as wine tasting and river access. Lovely breakfast included. They’re very easy to communicate with. Convenient location for our needs. Wonderful experience, I would definitely stay with them again.

  • This is the cutest place ever. I love the homey touches and the accommodations. Anson is excellent at communicating. My colleagues and I stay here for a “meet in the middle” work group. We love the house.

  • Such a great little place! Very cozy and clean. Located near everything in the center of town. Quite street with very little noise. The host was so accommodating and replied very quickly when I had a question. It was such a fun trip and staying at this cozy home made it even better!!

    Rachel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Anson's place. The location is a perfect jumping off point to explore the Gorge, and we enjoyed the Klickitat Rails Trail along the Klickitat River. The game room and all the kid-friendly touches at the house were a wonderful surprise! Our toddler enjoyed her stay, and we felt good knowing she was safe and welcome in the home. Cute decorations and very clean. Definitely recommend!

  • My stay at Bonne and Roger’s place reminded me of what Airbnb can be at its best: a comfortable and homey yet private space, friendly hosts, and so many thoughtful touches — from the brochures on local sights to the kitchen amenities to the home-baked cookies. Highly recommended.

    Caroline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Hosts were very accommodating and friendly. They have trained fish that you can feed and will even swim close so you can pet them. Lots of extra touches.

  • What a great place to stop and recharge after driving all day. It's so nice to meet nice folks and feel very comfortable and relaxed. I loved the world map with all the pins your visitors have placed showing where they are from. The homemade cookies and deer outside the kitchen window were extra special touches. Thank you Roger and Bonne for your hospitality.

  • Jeff & Ann are superhosts! Their communication is prompt, and accurate. The space is very clean and tidy, with many thoughtful extras that go beyond basics. I’d venture a guess that the space dates to the early 1980s, and in this case that’s a good thing with vaulted ceilings and windows that nearly reach floor to ceiling. The whole space is very well maintained, comfortable and quiet. If you’re staying in the Goldendale area, skip the iffy motels. Jeff and Ann will make you feel like you’re visiting old friends.

    Ron2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Great hosts. And fun to walk around the neighborhood and get a feel for rural Goldendale.

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It's such a lovely place and nice stay here. The house and the scenery around are really superb. Jeff and Ann are supper kind, warmhearted and generous. And thank you so much for your gift, we like it very much, and really appreciate it. Goldendale is such an amazing place. Mount hood and mount Adams greeted us every day. The starry starry night never failed to fascinate us all these days. The historic houses in the downtown, the golden and endless grassland, the gorgeous Columbia river gorge..... Seven days is really not enough to explore around the Goldendale. Hope next time we can spend more time here. Thank you so much for your hospitality and see you next time.

  • At this B&B you can expect to be treated as if you are family. Jeff and Ann gave us accomodations at an excellent price for roughly 4 months with barely any advance notice. Everything you can possibly need is in the apartment. It's clean, comfortable, and in a peaceful environment. They are fun people and good friends!

  • My 3 teen kids and I stayed the night here for some good old family entertainment. We had a pool tournament and a dart tournament (neither of which I won) and watched a movie on the projector. The kids put down their devices and genuinely had a great time.

    Matthew2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a super fun “game room” crash pad with unexpected art, and snacky treats. We enjoyed playing pool and darts as well as the dinner recommendation that Felicia made. We also enjoyed walking around town in the evening. Very safe location. The front of the building now has the word ”Toss” on it, if you’re wondering if you found it!

Vacation home overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. Located in Wishram, a small railroad town. Trains are the biggest source of activity in Wishram. The view is wide open, the climate is quite dry, and the pace is laid back. There are two kayaks for guests to use.
This cabin is comfortable for two people or up to nine people. The upstairs sleeps six with three sleeping bays. The bays have walls on three sides and a heavy curtain in the front, so not totally private. Wake up, open up the curtains, and get blown away by the view!
Wishram is 15 minutes away from The Dalles, OR, where you can find grocery stores, restaurants, and most services you would need. There are no stores or restaurants in Wishram, so pick up some food items on your way. Maryhill Winery and Museum are just a few miles further east on Highway 14. Horsethief Lake State Park is 8 miles west of Wishram on Highway 14.
  • This home was perfect for a large group. Breathe taking views, great decor and lots of room! We hope to return soon! You will love it!

    Karlean2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical spot. Beautiful view, quiet, private, and serene. The well-equipped kitchen allowed us to cook all meals at home. The sauna and hot tub were super clean and easy to use. Great for a big group.

  • Loved it here so much. The hot tub, and the sauna really make this location extremely relaxing. Nice deep kitchen sink, dishwasher, and plenty of cooking supplies. I recommend bringing a projector and a bed sheet for viewing experiences.

  • This cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway for small groups. The space is cozy and the views are incredible. We especially loved the sauna and hot tub. Highly recommend!

    Hazel2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This home feels like your home away from home. It just feels so cozy and bright. Every morning you wake up enjoying every aspect of the house from waking up in a comfy bed, to the views that make you want to get up and go, to the comfy couch to read in with a cup of tea, to the open kitchen and big table for a perfect family breakfast. If I designed my own house, I would want it to look just like this with the sun shining in and a sauna right in the house! The reading nook is my dream space. And a hot tub right under the stars. So close to the observatory, wineries, Maryhill Museum, Stonehenge, hiking trails, bouldering and not to mention the amazing view you don’t even have to work for. I can’t wait to stay here again!

  • Wonderful little cottage!!

  • We loved our stay in Gail's cottage. Super comfortable, and set-up perfectly. Gail allowed us to bring our two elderly cats, which made it possible for us to get away. During our first night, one of the cat's illness became much worse, and we had to return home a day early. Gail generously refunded us for the night we couldn't stay. Talk about going above and beyond! I hope we get a chance to come back for a longer stay soon.

Kitchen had everything I needed same with bathroom. Drive slowly through the neighborhood. Deer cross the street like children on their way to school.

Fred and Judy's bunkhouse is close to The Oregon Raceway Park, the Deschutes River, Justesen Ranch trout fishing lakes, and White River Falls State Park. The bunkhouse is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families. Guests may walk around the lakes and take in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. There is a full-sized schoolyard swing set and a huge lawn for bocce ball, croquet or other lawn games. For larger groups, tent camping is an option too.
  • Fred’s place is the perfect blend of rustic along with modern amenities. If you need a clean, warm, comfortable, and accommodating place to stay, Fred’s bunkhouse is just right.

    Chris2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the coolest, most unique, most private properties I’ve ever stayed on. The lakes are accessible and beautiful (a four wheel drive with decent clearance helps but isn’t a deal breaker for most of the property), and Fred is a truly excellent host — responsive, helpful, and fun to talk to. If you’re looking for seclusion with beautiful views of Hood in the distance, you really can’t beat the value here. A microwave, plug-in frying pan and small grill more than make up for a lack of stove - just plan your cooked meals accordingly!

    Joseph2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have asked for a better place to get away! The hosts were very friendly and they have done a great job with their property. It in a pretty secluded area but you feel like you are in your own little private oasis. Highly recommended if you are wanting to get away and take a break from the go and enjoy the slow. I will definitely be staying here again!

    Cody2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place in the middle of nowhere in Central Oregon. Fred and Judy are lovely people, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bunkhouse is like a studio apartment, cozy and comfortable. We loved watching the wildlife, hiking around the lake on the property, and stargazing at night without any light pollution. It is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The place is cozy and intimate, and a million times better than a hotel. Be sure to bring some food with you, as Grass Valley and Moro are very small and close up early. I can't say enough good things; we can't wait to go back!

You are invited to stay in a Klickitat County landmark, listed on both the state and federal registers of historic places. The Red House built for the ‘Horse King of the Northwest’ Charles Newell and his wife Mary in 1890, is now a distinctive vacation rental. The Red House’s three stories are furnished with art, antique/vintage finds, colored glass windows, original ornamental trim, fresh linens and comfortable beds. The house is well equipped and designed for relaxing.
The Red House is steeped in history and local lore. On the dining room side table, you will find a red binder that gets you up to speed on the house’s past. As you spend time in its rooms, my hope is that the house and its furnishing bring to mind a long held cherished family retreat. From the high Victorian front porch, thru the large 5 paneled front door, the entryway with its 10-foot ceilings and stained glass windows give you a good idea of what awaits. You can access the winding narrow stairs to the upper stories, or enter the formal living and dining room with their large matching brass light fixtures. The colorful upholstered vintage velvet chairs and couch pick up the stained-glass panes of the windows, and are a great place to sit and discuss the day, take tea or simply soak in the house's ambiance. The oval antique dining table and chairs can seat 8 comfortably (additional leaves are located in the 1st floor bedroom closet). Off these rooms is the bathroom. The small marble topped vanity with chrome inspired Victorian taps and claw foot tub with shower head are surrounded by multicolored tiles that defy description. I have grown fond of these tiles, but I must be honest it was not love at first sight. What changed? Without my glasses, they form a nice tartan plaid. The first-floor bedroom contains a double bed from Europe. This sleigh bed with inlaid wood on the headboard and footboard faces 3 brightly stained glass windows overlooking the iris and peony garden. The 2 slight faux bamboo antique chairs used as bedside tables, are from a Yale University ballroom, so I've been told. Originally this room was the dining room. The heart of this historic house, the sunny farmhouse kitchen has seen many a home cooked meal. Sit a spell and have a cup of coffee and plan your next delicious meal. You will find the kitchen has what you need. The apron sink, microwave, and gas stove are recent additions. Laundry/mud room is to the right. Placed In front of the window is a burgundy velvet settee that has been in the house for decades. Off the kitchen is the fireplace room. The cathedral ceiling, pole rafters, large rock fireplace and locally salvaged board and batten siding and ancient hand hewn beams give the room a lodge look and feeling, very different from the rest of the house. Roku TV and board games are here. On the walls are several art pieces depicting The Red House. Next to the fireplace is a photo from the 20's or 30's showing the long gone service portions of the house. From the back yard, looking at the house a friend mentioned she now knows how the old lady in the shoe felt living in a shoe. I had to laugh. The main part of the house, tall and narrow, the fireplace room and kitchen, low slung, I saw her point, a gigantic shoe. Going back to the front hall, 2 double sash windows with colored glass cast a medieval glow over the stairs. On the second floor are 3 bedrooms. To the left is the ‘horse bedroom’, so named for all the horse artwork. The Red House brush and ink drawing is a gift from my talented friend in a shoe. The double size iron bed is from my grandparent’s farmhouse outside of Goldendale. The next bedroom forms a suite; the bigger bedroom houses landscape paintings, a Victorian sunflower emblem double bed and matching marble topped vanity that's kept company with the laundry room settee. The smaller adjoining bedroom room contains a single sized day bed, large European armoire and vintage children’s picture books that I picked up at the Goldendale Library book sales for their vintage illustrations. The room is very cozy and sunlit. On to the 3rd floor attic suite. High above the surrounding neighborhood, these 2 rooms offers a private sitting room, Roku TV and queen-sized bed. The attic’s shiplap walls, odd ceiling angles, vintage suitcases, and wood picnic baskets harken to the rooms former use a trunk room and the help’s space. The Red House is like a time machine with modern amenities. For me the house brings back forgotten memories while creating new ones, I hope this is true for you too.
The neighborhood around The Red house is laid back and friendly. Take a walk to Goldendale's small downtown and chances are folks will say hi. Holcomb's Supermarket is several blocks away. Antiquing at Chloe's, is rewarding. Monkeyshines down the street is a gallery, studio, and small antique shop that is owned by Sandra. You will find vintage clothing, Sandra's mosaic sculptures that are treasures in themselves and antique art and dish-ware. Next door The Glass Onion is always a great meal. For me their clam chowder cannot be beat, but then thats probably true of everything they serve. The Town House can be counted on for hearty breakfasts and lunches. Gee's serves good burgers and old style Chinese food. For standard Mexican food there is Ayutlas Family Mexican Restaurant. In the warmer months the food truck Taqueria Veracruz serve perhaps more authentic Mexican food. There are several choices for pizza in Goldendale; The Glass Onion, Uncle Tony's, Pete's, and Papa John's. Further out in the little town of Klickitat is the funky Huntington's Steakhouse. I haven't been here, but several guest make it a point of dining here when they come to Goldendale. For coffee, friends of mine stick to the 3 coffee kiosk in town. The Goldendale Chamber of Commerce has a cornucopia of brochures for things to do and explore. They are open most weekday mornings to the early afternoon. The Chamber's web site has an up to date event calendar. Klickitat County has a number of wineries, Maryhill Winery (15 minutes away by car) is perhaps the best known, but Waving Tree in Maryhill is very good, and has the distinction of being founded by long time local. I also am fond of Cascade Cliffs. In season, the Maryhill Museum of Art and the Presby Museum are worth a peak for different reasons. The Klickitat trail, at Harm's Road off the Centerville Hgwy. out of Goldendale, has parking, 1 port a potty, and a small railroad trestle crossing over the Swale Creek, it's a nice start for a pleasant walk. The Columbia Hills State Park offers hiking and grand scenic beauty. The Goldendale Observatory and its maze of walking trails is just up the hill overlooking town. The Goldendale Farmers Market at Ekone Park is open on Saturdays, May to September. A road trip on highway 142 to the little town of Klickitat, and then to Lyle is a good way to get a lay of the land. This trip may be of interest to gardeners, as the little secret conifer and general plant nursery located at the bottom of the grade is one of my favorite places. To the east of Goldendale is the small Dandy Valley Farm and Nursery, they have a nice selection of veggie starts, fruit trees, shrubs, and annuals, you can tell they love their plants and what they do. If you want to get fancy, Good News Gardening and the Garden Cafe in Hood River is worth a jaunt.

  • Jon’s home is so incredibly cute, charming, cozy and clean. We kept marveling on all of the interesting art and antique pieces. A true collection of American pieces. We loved the large but cozy home. There were even Christmas decorations and the kitchen had all you could need plus it was so clean! Would definitely recommend to all if you find yourself needing to stay near Goldendale!

  • What can I say about our stay at The Red House that hasn’t already been said? It was our third time? It is cleaner than any other Airbnb we’ve seen? We found everything we needed? The attention to detail? The fun historical facts? The absolutely marvelous decor? The stellar communication from Jon? Airbnb.........you need to base all of your rentals on this one!!!!

  • Had another great stay at Jon's home! He is so fast to answer all our questions and so accommodating. This home has everything you could possible need too! We just love this location for visiting our nearby family. It's in an amazing location to checkout Hood River and The Dalles too! This was our second stay at this home. • This house was the perfect fit for a weekend getaway. The house is beautifully historic and there are lots of unique antique decorations that make the house feel like you have gone back in time. The steep stairs may be challenging for someone elderly or with limited mobility (it is a historic house after all), but there is a bedroom on the ground level, which worked great for my mother-in-law and father-in-law and the bathroom is on the ground level as well. The house was large and more than enough space! Jon was excellent at communicating and offered a seamless check-in process. There is great outdoor space for spending time during a warm evening or under the starts. We most of all enjoyed the fireplace room on the back of the house. Jon is a great host and we couldn't recommend the house enough!

    Nicole2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is the third time I have stayed at the Red House. Jon is an outstanding person, and he has done a fantastic job with this wonderful historic house. Truly an outstanding place to enjoy a weekend!

We found every utensil and appliance we needed for the multiple meals we cooked there! Be advised that the driveway is long and it can take up to 15 minutes to drive back to town if you need to run to the market to buy something you forgot. Cozy bungalow in the town of Grass Valley with a huge lawn, close to the ORP. The Grass Valley guest house has two full bathrooms, an outdoor BBQ area, a big screen TV and a fully equipped kitchen. The house is primary used as lodging for Justesen Ranch Recreation hunting and fishing clients.
  • Very comfortable accommodations, and if you have not been in eastern Oregon, grass Valley is a good home base to explore the area. It’s beautiful and rich in history.

  • Fred's home was perfect for our work stay. Each of for coworkers had their own bedroom, with an extra bed, so tons of space for up to right people. The house had everything we needed for our stay, except for internet access, which is clearly stated as not provided at the house. The kitchen was stocked with spices, oils and everything we needed. TV with cable, and convenient for us. We will certainly stay here again if we are in the area.

The Ranch is basically modern and rustic wrapped into one. The Bonanza like complex is a 25 minute drive to the Columbia River Gorge, minutes drive to the Klickitat river and 12 miles west of Goldendale. Nearby activities include ; Hiking, Wine tasting, Fishing, River Rafting etc. We can provide guided fishing and river rafting trips :))
The Steelhead Ranch is a custom Ranch house trimmed out in barn wood from one of the initial barns of the original ranch from the early century. The ranch house is very comfortable and offers a seasonal creek with exceptional views. The kitchen is completely stocked with almost everything ever needed. The Ranch is used as a fishing and recreational river float lodge part of the year.
The ranch is situated at 1600 feet above sea level in the Shrub Steppe of the Cascade mountains with a double mountain view of Mount Adams and Mount Hood.
  • loved our stay. my family of four plus 3 other co-workers had a business trip and chose this location because due to it's size and great price. We stayed for a month and had a blast, cookouts and fires after dark. It also has as a great view of both Mount Hood and Adams. House is on a private road so not a lot of traffic. Anything your going to need its there. Microwave was broken when we arrived, Jack (host) had one delivered the next day. Master bed was comfortable, kids ending up in it everynight so must have been. lol. highly recommend this location, we would stay again. Thank you Jack p.s. check out Hoodriver Or and there is a pool in goldendale with a slide. Also, eat at the Glass Onion in town. Oh, and there is horseshoes in the front yard on other side of parking.

  • This place was a perfect fun stop for our Girl Scout sleepover. The cabins were fun and the views were amazing!

    Jennifer2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jack was an excellent host. The space is much larger than expected, although there was a picture of an extra cabin on the listing that was demolished at some point. I’m assuming a new structure will be built in its place, but there was still ample space. The pictures don’t do Jack’s place justice. The main house is much larger in person. The common spaces are huge with an concept design from livingroom to the kitchen. Plenty of spacious for my party of 10. More amenities than you could as for with a well stocked kitchen. The only issues we had were that nearly all of the dishes in the kitchen cupboards didn’t appear to be washed. Lots of food and grease still on pots pans plates, silverware, glasses...everything. Easy fix though. I would still recommend this space for anyone wanting to “unplug” and truly enjoy the stars, sunsets, and for a city guy like myself...the silence!!! Peaceful!

    Lawrence2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our group loves staying here. We’re almost a dozen strong, and the Steelhead Ranch is our destination every year.

    Thomas2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at the ranch. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfy, and there was plenty of floor space (And property) for the kids to romp and play. It was a great “base camp” and very functional for preparing for a day on the river or hunting the fields. The dining area and outdoor fire pit were set up perfectly for eating and sharing stories after a long day. Plus, the view from the front porch of Mt Adams and Mt Hood was phenomenal.

    Cindy2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jack was nothing short of amazing during this stay. We had asked him a couple questions before our stay and he was always very quick to respond and extremely accommodating! The house itself has beautiful country views and amazing star gazing. There was more than enough space for our large family and the house was stocked with any and everything we could have needed during our stay. We HIGHLY recommend staying here.

    Laura2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jack is one heck of a host! We had a group of 7 boys for a bachelor party. From the get go his response time is immediate. We had a couple of complications so we had to cancel one of the dates which he had no problems with and gave us the refund right away. Well guess what? we ended up staying one more night anyways because the place is amazing and Jak's hospitality is close to none. Now for the place it's self. You'll get to drive up to a place with absolute peace and quiet, great for big groups, well equipped kitchen, backyard with grills and fire pits and a spectacular 180 views of the hills with a wonderful sunset to add to it. Mt Hood and Adams are clear as you like. To add to all that we had 'car problems' and he allowed us to stay one more night free of charge. What a man! If you are looking for a family vacation, company trip, a get a way with friends or anything in a group setting then that is your place. He is also a 30 year veteran fishing instructor. Get on it y'all!

  • Quaint and hospitable, Lisa & Dave's place is a warm and comfortable oasis in Wasco. We were greeted with warm tea on a cold night and thoroughly enjoyed great conversation with our friendly hosts. Our room was comfortable and super clean. Lisa & Dave didn't blink an eye, either, at serving us breakfast at 6:30 am so we could keep to our schedule. A great stay all around. Thank you!

Would 100% recommend to anyone in the area :)

Dave and Lisa were very friendly, had coffee prepared in the AM and hot water and tea ready when I returned at the end of the day, which was awesome because I was working out in the cold all day. They were a pleasure to talk to, the WIFI was strong so I could do my computer work and I look forward to staying here for work in the future.

  • We had a great experience with Dave and Lisa. They are fun and interesting and the house was very clean and tastefully decorated. Our room and bed were cozy and comfortable and provided a good night sleep. The house and town are quiet and quaint. Dave gave us a personal guided tour of the town and small train museum/depot. If you haven’t been to the area it is a must see with Cottonwood Canyon State Park on the John Day River and so many other attractions very close. Stargazing can be done anywhere since this is a very sparsely populated area. If you wanted to set up a telescope, see views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Jefferson, Gordon Ridge nearby is a must see. We highly recommend this place. We had eggs from their chickens in a hot breakfast cooked by Dave and Lisa!

  • It was a beautiful experience! Hosts took me and my friends to the museum, and we were able to safely see the dangerous roads with lots of snow. We also offer delicious teas and breakfast was also very delicious! It was a very grateful time !!
