Easy family looped walk from the station to the Roman baths and then back to Ravenglass along the coast. We did this as a family group with 2 x 1 year olds and a 3 year old. Pub in Ravenglass after?

This is a great family day out if you have had enough of walking. (Is that possible?). Having said that why not buy a single ticket and walk back over the fells? Make sure you book though. On a tight budget? Just go and watch - check out the timetable and get there when the trains are in. Great playground too for smaller children.

Walking

Eskdale Trail is often seen as a bike route but I would walk it and then back over Muncaster Fell. Unbeatable - especially on a blowy day.

The beach just West of Bootle is about 8 minutes drive from the cottage. Lots of free parking. There is also the coast to coast path that runs along the coast here.
