Good small dishes (3 for 2), reasonably priced considering it´s Reykjavík. - Most notable though for the cube of Rotten Shark and shot of Brennivin (Black Death) for 9 USD. A must try say all hardy locals; a dish from the early Middle Ages can´t be wrong.

Great Langoustine (a type of lobster). Fairly expensive but average considering local standards. Situated by the coast but no view to speak of, unless you exit the premises. Beautiful long beach, Atlantic bleak, some times a melancholic surf, good for settling grievances in a relationship.

Drinks & Nightlife

Well manicured beers, great for early night. Extremely packed later on at week-ends but good for witnessing drunken rambling of locals and/or participating in same.

Entertainment & Activities

Mixed results with the bigger whales, but it´s pretty likely that you´ll see dolphins. (A negative person would recommend that you find a car tyre, submerge it in a bath and let it go once every 15 minutes with same results.) But on these tours, even if nothing is spotted, you´ll see the surroundings of the city and you will have navigated the Atlantic.

Shopping

Not exactly en route to anything - except if you´re going to Reykjanes peninsula, perhaps South coast. Or returning a rental car to Hafnarfjörður. Gas at Costco is almost 20 perc. cheaper compared to anywhere in Reykjavík; and by far the best priced Camping gear, and Electronics. But you´ll need a customer subscription to shop - costs around 40 USD. Worth it for a longer stay and a lot of gas.
