The Flåm Railway is one of Norway’s most popular tourist attractions and is regularly voted one of the world’s best train journeys. This spectacular and steep railway journey stretches from the high mountain station of Myrdal (867 meters above sea level) on the Bergen Line down to Flåm (2 metres above sea level) at the head of Aurlandsfjord. The 20-kilometre long train ride shows off Norwegian nature at its most beautiful and magnificent, and is a masterpiece of Norwegian engineering. The Flåm Railway is one of the world’s steepest stretches of line on normal tracks and is renowned for its spectacular turning tunnels that wind in and out of the mountains. 18 of the 20 tunnels on the Flåm Railway were constructed by hand. With rivers cutting through deep ravines, waterfalls tumbling down precipitous mountainsides, white peaks with small farms clinging to steep slopes, a journey on the Flåm Railway is a trip through Norwegian nature. The train ride takes you past the wild and beautiful Kjosfossen waterfall. The train stops here so passengers can get some air, enjoy the view and photograph the mighty waterfall. Myrdal is a station on the Bergen Line and trains on the Flåm Railway are timed to ease connections with services between Oslo and Bergen. The stretch is open all year round and the journey time from Myrdal to Flåm is about one hour.

An old chieftain’s residence Nesheimstunet farm cluster can be found in a beautiful location on the northern side of Lønavatnet lake, 16 kilometres from Vossevangen, with exit from the E16 road by Tvinde. There has only ever been one farm here, and it has not been divided up like most farms in Voss. It may have been a chieftain’s residence during the Viking Age. The cluster comprises a firewood shed, a smokehouse/open hearth house and dwelling house in a row. These three buildings represent a distinctive piece of building history. All three buildings have been used as dwelling houses, and their function subsequently changed as new buildings were built. There is both an open fireplace and a røykomn (a chimney-less fireplace) in the smokehouse; now the only one of its kind in Voss. There is also a loft, barn and stable. People lived in the newest house until 1948. Voss Folk Museum took over the farm cluster in 1970. There are no set opening times, but the outdoor area is open to the public. If you want to look inside the houses, get in touch with us!

About the trip Our family tour is perfect for families, school or groups with under 15 year olds, or for those considering Class 3/4 rafting to be too scary. We usually take both large, steady rafts, and small 2-man Duckies, for those who want more challenge. Parents can send their kids off on adventures alone, or join the fun! Either way we promise a lot of water and fun for everyone! The Vosso river runs from Voss to Evanger on the way to Bergen. We start in flat water then go with the flow for about 7km, passing sections of gentle rapids with waves and whirlpools, ending in the Evanger lake where refreshments await. NB* We recommend not to take kids under the age of 12 in Duckies as they can flip quite easily, which is a bit too scary for smaller kids. But this depends on river levels and condition at the time. Additional information Participant Requirements Min Age 5 Normal Physical Health Comfortable in water, even if you cannot swim Participants that wish to use the Duckies should be able to swim Sober! Please inform us of any medical conditions like asthma, epilepsy etc Duration About 3 hours base to base About 1.5 hours on river Included All equipment Refreshment during trip You need! Swimming suit/shorts Towel for showers Bring thermal underwear on cold days

As a tandem student, you will go through the jump on the ground with your instructor. Then board the plane that will take you about 14 000 feet up in the air. You exit the plane for up to 50 seconds of freefall; falling 200 km/h. Smile, wave and scream at the camera and enjoy the ride. The canopy ride takes about 5-7 minutes – maybe you get to try to steer the canopy until your instructor brings you in to land.
