During the green season, we offer an outdoor bonfire (with a teepee set up depending on the time of year), and in winter, we use an indoor wood-burning stove.You can enjoy a profound moment of conversation while gazing into the fire. Location Opened in May 2024. Located in the heart of Takayama's historic district, Makoto-ya Ojin is a stylish inn in 1-chome, Ojin-cho, Takayama City, where the good old Japanese landscape remains. In front of our house, which is sandwiched between the Hida-Buri Highway that connects the former Toyama and Takayama, there are the Nissho-bu Mingei Kan and the Yoshima residence, which are important cultural properties that show the rich cultural assets of Japan, and this area is designated as a preservation district for traditional buildings. You can enjoy the old town and beautiful scenery while experiencing historic buildings. It is a 2-minute walk to Miyagawa Morning Market and a 5-minute walk to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the site of the autumn Takayama Festival. The festival stall in this area is called Hōmeita, and it has a variety of decorations such as a palanquin and sculptures (1-minute walk to the stall). Enjoy Takayama's history to the fullest in an excellent location. <Building and Hida master carpenters> Built 145 years ago by a master craftsman from Hida, this building has been revived here by modern craftsmen. You can relax in a renovated space in a traditional wooden house. A wood stove is available in winter and air conditioning in summer. At night you can see lots of stars and shooting stars. There is a floor space unique to the Japanese-style room, and there is also a space called "ma" designed in the living space, where you can decorate and enjoy seasonal flowers and trees. We can bring you a hot breakfast every morning if you want. You can use the kitchen to cook meals. Cooking utensils and basic seasonings (oil, salt, pepper) are provided. Enjoy BBQ in the garden (barbecue grill, charcoal, rental 1,500 yen) If you'd like authentic Japanese food, we can arrange pick-up and drop-off We can also make reservations. The 20-tatami living room has a sunken hearth (currently unavailable) and you can enjoy the old Japanese private house. There are 3 bedrooms, so you can stay with a large number of people, such as family and friends. No meals are provided. You are welcome to use the full kitchen freely. There is a backyard at the end of the dirt floor that continues from the entrance, and you can walk around freely. Equipped with WiFi and an automatic lifting table, teleworking is also possible for long-term stays. Please have a relaxing time in this quiet old house. We look forward to seeing you !
