KAIWA NO SATO This old house is an indigo mansion built in the first year of the Bunsei era (1804) during the heyday of indigo. The main house and the sleeping area (a barn where indigo was stored) have been demolished due to aging, but the historic living room and garden have been preserved to allow guests to experience a little bit of that time, and it is used as a farmhouse inn. In the old days, "Indigofera" grew on the fertile land of the Yoshino River basin in Tokushima Prefecture, bringing great wealth to Tokushima Prefecture (Awa Province). Ancient documents on indigo, including cultural properties, are also available for viewing. "Agape" means "my home" in the local dialect. Please relax as if you were at home. The entire unit is reserved for one group to ensure privacy. There is a main house (Japanese-style room) next door, separated by an outer wall, where one more group can stay. If there are 4 or more people, we recommend booking both the Western-style room and the Japanese-style room. Prices vary depending on the number of people. Please be sure to let us know the exact number of guests staying in the unit. Supermarket (A-COOP Kinan Kumano Kodo Chikatsuyu), bus stop (Kodo Aruki-no-Sato Chikatsuyu), restaurant (Shoji Teahouse), and drive-in (Kodo Aruki-no-Sato Chikatsuyu) are within a 30-second walk, about 500 m to a gas station, and about 5-6 minutes on foot from Kumano Kodo and Kirei Oji. The owner is a local Kumano Kodo guide, so he is familiar with walking tours, local attractions, and information, so please let me know if you need anything. We will do our best to accommodate you, such as pick-up and drop-off when you need it. Basically, it is a room only, but we can also arrange meals. We restored Machiya while keeping the original structure in order to provide you with a traditional Japanese experience with local atmosphere.This house is for only private use and has only one floor with Japanese style room, shower room, washroom, sink and small garden.
