You will love spending time in this beautiful, historic cottage in the heart of Naseby Village. Built in 1882, the cottage has recently undergone a full restoration of the interior and now offers luxury accommodation. We are close to local shop, 2 village pubs, cafe, park (inc children play area), museum, information centre, tennis courts, Naseby Forest Recreation Area, swimming dam. Don't forget Naseby as a fantastic dark skies location!!
“Paul's place was exactly as described in the listing. It's a stone's throw away from the center of Naseby and has 3 comfortable rooms. It has been charmingly renovated and decorated and provides a comfy base for local activities. Paul's helper Craig was very responsive when we need to talk with him and was great. Overall I would say that it was a fantastic stay and the only possible thing that could be added to make it better would be the addition of internet in the house, but I understand why they may choose not to have it in Naseby! Thank you guys very much!”

A warm and cosy strawbale home built of natural materials, located in the middle of the rail trail. Beautiful outlook to the mountains and countryside. A few minutes walk to the village centre with store and hotel.
“Our family had a wonderful stay at Jillian’s strawbale house. The space is full of character with amazing artworks and books, the most tranquil bath ever (make sure you time your soak with the sunset - bliss) and all of the bits and pieces you could possibly need. The setting is incredibly peaceful and homey, which made for such a relaxing couple of days - sorely needed after a relatively rough year! Jillian was really hospitable and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed/wanted. She had great tips for us to explore the area and was really accommodating, going out of her way to organise things like a portacot for us. There are a couple of great little walks nearby if you are hanging around for a bit, including one on the opposite side of the creek bordering the house. The publican at the Railway Hotel a short walk down the road is incredibly friendly, the food is delicious and good value too. Oturehua is a fab base for exploring the Maniototo; villages like Saint Bathans, Naseby, and Ophir (home to Pitches - possibly one of the best cafes I’ve been to in NZ) are within 20/30 minutes by car, while the wineries of the Cromwell/Alex/Bannockburn area are just a wee bit further. We felt really privileged to have stayed in a house made with so much thought and care, and I am especially jealous of Jillian’s writing hut! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thanks so much, Jillian.”
