Wee Nook- a Hobbit Hole

Wee Nook is a 360 square foot living space with a full kitchen and bathroom. It is tucked underground in the middle of the woods. Please come enjoy the woods, farm animals, trails, pond and wide open space while you're here! As JRR Tolkien said: “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Our cabin, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is uniquely positioned overlooking a large open field where hawks hunt and bears leisurely stroll. Our neighbors have horses that peer over the fence (nosy) pet them but don’t feed them, please. Our cabin was built in 1865 by a Confederate soldier returning from the Civil War. Eleven children were born and raised in John Pope Cabin. Our cabin is rustic. A large front porch with swing is waiting for you. @walnuthillcabin

Welcome to our renovated 1832 Log Cabin on our 300+acre Certified Organic farm. Guests can use our river frontage to fish, canoe, kayak, tube, or gather by the fire pit. We have mountain views, dark night skies revealing stars, planets, and the Milky Way, plus great sunsets. Wildlife includes deer, fox, bear, turkey, eagles, and owls, to name only a few. Lots of History here: site of a French & Indian fort, an early Indian Burial Mound, and the Hosts' historic plantation home.
