We were very pleased at Susan's place. Peaceful and quiet which is just what we needed. The cottage was very clean and had beautiful surroundings. Its not far from the town centre which has shops, pubs, and restaurants. We highly recommend.

I had a truly great time! There was such a lovely box of treats and cereals in the kitchen as a gift when I arrived, which was incredibly helpful on my first day, as I didn’t want to go grocery shopping after travel. Alison met me at the train and walked me over, showed me everything I needed to know, and happily came back when I had confusion or questions. An absolute delight of a host! She even drove me to work at Vindolanda on my first day (as I was a visiting researcher) and pointed out the public footpaths for me— above and beyond! My only comment would be that the washer/dryer are listed as in-unit, but they are in a shed area detached outside. It’s very, very easy to access, though! I would also add that it might be helpful for the unit to add a few minor things in the kitchen like a colander— I was making quite a bit of pasta and it was a little tricky to drain it, but didn’t have enough reason to purchase one. We recently had the pleasure of staying at Julia’s charming lodge with my family to celebrate our son’s 30th birthday, it exceeded all my expectations. The space was impeccably clean, with very comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen that made me feel right at home. The location and views are just fantastic, it is just under a two mile walk to the lovely twice brewed pub and Hadrian s wall. Julia was incredibly hospitable and responsive to my queries The thoughtful touches, like the fabulous welcome basket, well stock kitchen cupboards with all the essentials and of course the lovely kind touch of a very tasty homemade fresh cream cake and Prosecco on ice when we arrived. All rooms having well equipped en-suite with all the essentials, shampoo etc. all bedrooms also having your own door leading to the beautiful outside area with chickens welcoming us every morning. I highly recommend this lodge to anyone visiting this area and definitely look forward to returning

Perfect stay, friendly and helpful and super kind hosts. Gorgeous location, extremely peaceful and beautiful. Glorious walks, pristine accommodation, furnished to a high standard. Very comfortable bed. Great views. Really the perfect accommodation for feeling comfortable and at home with many locations to visit. Lizzie and Neil were super friendly and helpful and responsive whilst respecting privacy. Would return, and will return in a heartbeat. It feels homely the minute you step in the door. Im delighted to have stayed here.
