“Set in the little village of Casamassela off the beaten track from Otranto stands the Castella dominating the small, cozy piazza. The Castella is the size of a small country house and has a wonderful atmosphere. Guests will feel an immediate sense of history upon entering through the ancient wooden gate and finding themselves enclosed in a warm tidy courtyard dominated by an old olive tree. There is an extensive lush garden beyond where the bougainvillea and vines have draped themselves over the Roman style pillars. The rooms are set around the courtyard. They are spacious and simply and stylishly furnished sympathetic to the period with separate shower facilities and a fridge provided. Guests can wander through the beautiful, peaceful gardens and use the small modern swimming pool and jacuzzi style plunge pool, lounger chairs are also provided. It is easy to feel a part of history in such a setting. Breakfast is taken on the balcony overlooking the gardens and a fantastic spread is provided with delicious cakes and pastries freshly baked each morning. Gabriella is a brilliant hostess and can provide all the information you need for visiting the local area. Her staff are excellent and all contribute to making this a fantastic place to stay.”
Absorbeed between the intense green of the maquis and the blue of the nearby sea, Masseria Torre Sant'Andrea is located on a very important Roman way which went from Brindisi to Otranto through the Alimini Lakes by a twinge network of country paths which allow the visitors to a sweet and slow tourism. The suites proceeds from the old stable and barns, are finely furnished and overlook the suggestive forecourt which retain the original characteristic of the rural structure from the 16th century.
“From the moment we met Gianluca's family we were treated like part of it. The pictures don't nearly do their home justice — it's stunning. A perfect spot for a quiet getaway in the Italian countryside, and only a few minutes cycle from many stunning beaches, all recommended to us by our host. On our final night we were treated to an authentic home-cooked meal that was without a doubt the tastiest food we had in all of Puglia. We were a little worried about transport since neither of us drive, but the bikes and the car transfers on offer by the family made travelling extremely painless. I loved this place and can't wait to go back.”
“We had a fantastic week at Cristina and Mario’s lovely home. They were both so welcoming (thanks for the delicious cake!) and looked after us so well. Any time we had a question Cristina answered immediately and Mario was on hand to help, although we barely noticed they were around otherwise. The garden is the crowning glory, with a great pool and plenty of furniture - so much so that we much preferred it to the busy beaches (we arrived just as the Italian holiday started), so happily stayed at the house most days and just relaxed! The indoor space is large, with very comfortable bedrooms and beds, great blackout blinds and air-conditioning - although be prepared that the kitchen is very small for a large group, so be prepared to eat out, or cook outdoors on the lovely BBQ. Cannole itself is fairly quiet, but has a few nice little restaurants a short walk from the house, and a couple of supermarkets a short drive away. You’re about 10-15 minutes drive from the nearest beaches and lakes and about 20 minutes from Otranto which has a small port, castle, cathedral, and lots of shops and restaurants - nice for a more bustling evening out. All in all, a fantastic and welcoming home - you won’t regret booking!”
