“The Oval was a fantastic hideaway experience, it will be hard to keep this review concise. There is everything you could imagine you’d need and more in this stay. It’s the perfect cross between glamping and a boutique hotel stay! It poured from when we arrived to the moment we left and it didn’t ruin a thing. The outdoor fire area is well covered and you’re provided with warm robes and blankets to keep you dry. There is a store with games and marshmallows for roasting and then when it’s time to go inside you’ll be in the comfiest bed listening to the quietest and unreserved nature over the gentle low light of the fairy forest. Added bonus: looks absolutely incredible for the ‘gram! Thank you again Katrina!”
Carolyn, Steve, Molly and Lewis welcome you to Altquhur Byre, our family home. Here you will find a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast to get you set up for a day walking the West Highland Way or exploring the local area. We have two guest rooms available in our barn conversion which was completed early 2019. Our rooms are light and airy and feature under floor heating and en-suite shower rooms with rain head showers. Breakfast options are detailed below.
“We had a wonderful stay at Carolyn's place. The place is clean, cosy, and in beautiful surroundings. The full Scottish breakfast was exceptionally done (and catered to my allergies), and the hospitality throughout was as if we were staying with a friend. Her lovely family are incredible hosts, such polite children, and of course the instantly loveable family dog - who we already miss! She also suggested an itinerary for our last day that we embarked on and which really rounded off our weekend perfectly. Thanks for having us!”
My place is close to public transport(rural bus service)(trains from Balloch to Glasgow) , family-friendly activities, the airport(30mins). You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the scenery, Loch Lomond National Park, Across the road from the RSPB Nature reserve, Local Village life, lovely eating places and tea rooms.. My place is good for couples, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
“The cottage has been beautifully renovated with plenty of areas to relax in. The wood burner kept us extra toasty and gave the cottage even more of a cosy feel! It was well equipped and there was also ample outside space for us. We were made very welcome on arrival and a welcome pack was a lovely touch. We had our dog with us and we were able to take her everywhere with us as there were so many dog-friendly bars, restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area.”
