Formally a fortified castle “Fort de La Bastide “ was constructed on the site of a Roman military station. The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . The apartment is a furnished type 2, on the ground floor with covered terrace, barbecue garden furniture, enclosed and wooded land. It is a 2-star cottage. The village is within walking distance (300m). I recommend a magnificent hike on the banks of the Ardèche starting from the house : the circus of PEOPLE ( 2 to 3 hours of wonder). We are close to Vallon Pont d 'Arc and Chauvet Cave. Nearby there are also the classified villages of Labeaume, Balazuc and Voguë.
