Birken Cottage – Holidays at the Herbsthausen Sawmill

Our three one-room apartments — Ahorn, Linde, and Birke — combine the historic charm of Herbsthausen with contemporary design. Each apartment is completely unique and has been modernized by us. They offer space for two to three people each. The apartments are part of “Herbsthausen”, an cultural project in the town of Gartow. We are renovating a historic sawmill and transforming it into a future-oriented place for art, industrial heritage, living, working, international exchange, and relaxation.

Vacation home

Welcome to our stylish holiday apartment – ideal for families, groups and friends. Completed in 2022, the accommodation offers modern living comfort over approx. 170 m². You can expect a spacious, open-plan living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen, four separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sofa bed for two more guests. Space for up to 10 people. The highlight is the bright living area with high ceilings, open timber-framed walls and glazed Tennentor overlooking the village square.

Alte Linde, former inn with garden, pure idyll

Switch off. Rest. Be. Play. Read. Bathe. Hike. Our approx. 200-year-old, lovingly restored half-timbered house in the Elbtalaue protected landscape area is a special place: The ballroom of the former “Alte Linde” inn today invites you to a cozy get-together as a large kitchen-living room with a fireplace. The 5 bedrooms with country house flair are surrounded by a very large garden with plenty of space to play (trampoline, sandbox) and enjoy (fire pit; grill). Behind it, river & forest, lake.

Time out in the forest with an oven and sauna!

In the middle of the forest, on a clearing, 3 km from the beautiful town of Gartow, lies our special retreat. If you are looking for peace and quiet in nature and value simplicity and goodness, this is the place. The old half-timbered building, a former stable, was renovated with high quality and sustainably with natural materials. Clay plaster on the walls and the wood-burning stove guarantee an excellent indoor climate, and the walk to the wood-fired sauna promises absolute relaxation!

Kulturhaus Wahrenberg

Unfortunately, our farm is not suitable for excessive parties. Our house was built around 1850. The residential house and barn of the listed three-sided farmstead are built with an oak timber frame. There are 10 wedding linden trees around the house. In November, when the lime trees have been pruned back, the house can be seen in all its splendour. From May onwards, it then slowly disappears behind the shade-providing foliage, and so remains wonderfully cool throughout the summer... 

Wendland with dog up to 8 people, winter sauna!

Dannenberg in the beautiful Wendland with beautiful cycling trails, forests and the nearby Elbe. Great outdoor pool nearby, good nearby shopping, sauna can be booked from September to the end of April. (€10 hour) On weekends only book both nights, no one-night booking. It's an apartment, Airbnb presents it as a tree house! Large staircase to the top, large apartment, large balcony - no shared use. For check-in, the door is open from 3 pm, the key is inside.

Elbperle, Pure Nature

Here in the Lenzerwische you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. We have the Elbe right in front of us. In summer, it invites you to swim or fish. In autumn and winter, it sometimes shows its power and lets the water level rise...Wildlife of all kinds are at home here, and a birdlife that will amaze you. Our Elbe Pearl is also so special because the Elbe Cycle Path runs right outside our door.

The 200 m², newly renovated and listed "Fohlenstall" is idyllically located in the heart of the Wendland, near the Elbtalauen Biosphere Reserve. Set in a 10,000 m² garden with old trees, the light-flooded house offers plenty of space for family, groups of friends or a workation. The generous facilities, lovingly selected antiques and modern design create a special atmosphere – a place to arrive, be together and relax.

Want to take a relaxing vacation? Spend a nice weekend or go on wonderful bike rides or just watch the crackling fireplace? We rent our lovingly furnished vacation home in Danish wooden construction. Our house sleeps 4 persons only. A living room with a fireplace and open kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. On our two terraces you can enjoy the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening.

Relax on the small pony farm

Enjoy a great time on our private farm with our horses/ponies. There are two bedrooms, a large living room with dining table, a small but well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub.
