Cottage holiday rentals in Gateshead

A very peaceful and quiet retreat in a lovely part of the North East. It was so quiet and relaxing spending time in the hot tub and inside the cottage. Although this is no fault of Rachael's and/or the cottage please be wary that if you're over 6 foot you will be ducking a lot! I banged my head twice coming out of the bathroom when going during the night and still half asleep (again, this is nothing against the host or the location - just a pre-warning!)

I absolutely loved our stay at Barnacre Alpacas, we stayed in the rose cottage, it was very clean and the hot tub was a bonus. We enjoyed the alpaca walk and talk, that was something I’ll never forget! On arrival the cottage was dressed up for a birthday surprise and champagne and chocolates was left for us. Thank you to Paul and Debbie, we will be back!

Jane met us on arrival, explained everything, then left us to chill out. The welcome pack and fresh flowers were a lovely gesture and were much appreciated. The cottage was spotless and felt extremely homely. We very much enjoyed the games room and enclosed hot tub. The garden areas were vast with lots of outdoor furniture. We enjoyed a lovely ice cream at Archers ice cream parlour (10 min walk) and experienced both pubs in nearby Heighington, very friendly, great food and service in the George & Dragon. Another recommendation is the nearby Raby castle, definitely a worthwhile visit. We definitely recommend staying at Ivy cottage and look forward to returning there again. Thank you Jane.

We enjoyed a great break in Peewit Cottage, which was spotless and had everything you need. The surroundings were well looked after and amenities great. The little touches, including the welcome pack (best we’ve had and included the dog!) and Prosecco and strawberries to enjoy in the hot tub were thoughtful and lovely. All the information you need is provided prior to arrival or readily available within the cottage. We used the cottage as a base to visit local attractions, all easily accessible by car. Glen was both very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend and somewhere we would return to. Thank you, Jacqueline!

Mark’s and Michelle’s home is by far the best place we’ve stayed in. Everything’s exactly what was in the description— all the amenities are well cared for and the attention to detail are well thought of. So you can also expect a luxurious and pleasant getaway for a reasonable price. Thank you again to you both for your warm hospitality! We’ve had perfect and relaxing weekend rest. We’ll for sure come back— a little longer stay next time.

Angela was fab. House was lovely, clean and as described/pictured. She met us to check-in to the property and show us around. Dogs were very welcome. No complaints and would return again.

Just got home after a 4 day break and the cottage was perfect! I’m a decorator by trade and work on property development every day and so of course everywhere i stay i can’t help but look through that lens and i have to say well done! The cottage has been very tastefully decorated throughout and designed really well too! i even took photos of the portholes that have been cut into the dividing wall between stairs lounge and kitchen because they really work to give a unified feel to the whole of the ground floor space which for a 2 up2 down it really did feel like one larger space i liked that effect , it really works right builder hat off we loved it and used it as a base to travel about from the town too was perfect with every amenity on the doorstep would highly recommend Thank you hosts Ian & Jon

An absolute gem of a cottage in a beautiful place. Loved the cottage so much - felt so homely and was a perfect place to venture off into the surrounding areas.

Outstanding cottage, would love to come back soon! The photos don’t do it justice! It’s even better when you’re there. Spotlessly clean, beautiful kitchen/dining room and comfortable bed. The views from the back garden were fab! I can’t recommend this enough, would have happily stayed there longer and will definitely return. It was a lovely gesture that Kate even baked for us!! Beautiful cottage 5 mins from beach. Very clean and tidy, milk in fridge on arrival for a much needed cuppa. Good communication from Nick. Would stay again.

What can I say... Absolutely fantastic place. You couldn't ask for anything more. Really peaceful location with fantastic views of the hills etc. We had a strange issue but this was sorted out very swiftly by Malcolm 👍 We will definitely be looking to book again and have another peaceful time just watching the world go by. We had a wonderful time at the Garden Rooms. The house and garden were beautiful, and such a great way to experience the springtime. House was clean with full facilities, including charging for electric vehicle. Vanessa was on hand to answer all our questions, and to make us feel really welcome. The area is full of things to do, with great restaurants close by in Corbridge, and castles, beaches and activities not far away at all. Many thanks to Vanessa for helping us have a great Easter holiday!

Thank you Kate for letting us stay in your home. The cottage was perfect for us 3 that were visiting family. It is easy to find and check in and parking is just behind. Abbey Hill Cottages to high above W. Hartlepool. They are well equipped.Beds are comfortable and so is sitting room furniture. Plenty of hot water. Good shower.Lots of space. I would stay again.

We needed a place to stay while our bathroom was being remodelled, and it needed to be close to home so we could check on the progress of the work. Violet Cottage fitted our needs perfectly. It was clean, comfortable, well stocked with essentials (the chocolate biscuits were a bonus) and was simply everything we’ve come to expect from an Airbnb Superhost. Grant was very responsive when we had questions and generally made sure our stay was entirely to our satisfaction. For out of town visitors, this place is close to the city centre, close to the river and close to a lot of facilities, both for basic needs and entertainment. We highly recommend Violet Cottage.

Fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. Great base for exploring nearby Hexham and Corbridge, and Roman ruins such as Vindolanda, Housesteads and Hadrian’s Wall. Very well equipped kitchen, much better than average, with all the kitchen utensils you need. Very friendly and welcoming host. Would highly recommend.

Lovely spot that was perfect for our family. Views from nearly every side over rolling hills (very peaceful), easy walk to town and nearby trails to hike. Wasn’t far at all to places like Kielder Forest, Hadrians Wall or even Newcastle. As we stayed over Christmas, the hosts decorated the house to really make us feel at home! Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful comfy cottage in a quiet and pretty location. Great as a base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, Vindolanda and Corbridge. We had a great stay.

Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Easy parking outside the house. The house is beautifully decorated, every thin you could need is supplied. Beds very comfortable and nice clean fresh bed linen and towels. Lovely bathroom and powerful shower. All in all a lovely home, close to beach and easy access to other places of interest. Would recommend staying there
