Unique activities hosted by local experts vetted for quality

  • Fluff and Feathers, Alpacas and Hens
Fun for all ages! We’ll start out talking about alpacas, including how to approach and interact with them. Then we will move to the yard and introduce our four alpacas! We’ll explain what makes alpacas unique, and what they like and dislike. We will also share and clear up myths and misconceptions about them. Guests will have the opportunity to pet and feed the alpacas, take one for a walk around the yard, and take lots of pictures. Come with all of your alpaca questions! Next we will move on to the chicken habitat and everyone will have the opportunity to observe, pet, and feed them. Please feel free to take lots of pictures! We will go in the coop to look for eggs, and finish up the outdoor tour with the smaller chicken coop, where you can meet a member of the smallest chicken breed in the world! (Coming in summer 2020: The world's largest chicken breed!) Questions and pictures are encouraged! You’ll be surprised how much variety there is in size, color, and personality. (I have a dozen breeds including rare breeds from a Black Copper Marans to a frizzled Serama.) Before leaving, you can to wash up, and take a look at chicken eggs of different sizes, colors and shapes. Other things to note Alpacas are sensitive creatures. Please DO NOT bring pets or animals of any kind onto the property, not even service animals.

  • Walk among the Alpacas
We will start with a short intro to alpacas, where they come from, the do's and don'ts in handling, and about their care and fiber. We will visit the males and then the females and babies. Our guests will be able to touch the animals and feel why they are considered the next cashmere. They will also be able to feed them some grain and take as many pictures with and of the animals as they desire. We also have guardian dogs that guests will meet and learn why we have these beautiful animals. Our dogs are socialized and not mean, but they have a job to do to protect our animals from predators and they know what they are there for. After the animal experience, we will move on to the fiber produced from these beautiful creatures. Guests will be able to handle raw fiber, learn the difference between good and bad and about the shearing process and how it is made into yarn, etc. They will also be able to purchase, if they desire, any products that we have in our store. we will have refreshments with time to ask questions or just visit. We enjoy people and talking about our passion and look forward to meeting each of our guests. Other things to note: This is a farm, dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Sip, Snack, Stroll Salt Lake City
Walk downtown Salt Lake stopping at the best coffee shops, cafes and local hotspots for the best downtown has to offer. Have a fun Instagram worthy day of food, drinks and local culture along with tons of tips and suggestions for the rest of your trip. We will also use the local trax train to help you learn how to navigate the city using public transportation. In total we will spend about 3 to 4 hours together visiting some of the most well-known sites in the city such as Temple Square, Gallivan Plaza (one of the sites of the 2002 Olympic games) and Library Square as well as some local favorites such as the Pie Hole, and Ken Sanders Rare Books. Stopping at coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants based on your interests and food preferences. The best part about traveling with a local is that I can adjust to help create the best experience for the group.
