Antica Casa delle Castagne – Carpineto Romano is a historic home located in the medieval centre, fully renovated yet rich in original charm. Just over an hour from Rome, it offers an authentic Italian village escape with cobblestone streets, slow living, and no crowds. A perfect base for hiking in the Lepini Mountains, enjoying local festivals like the Palio della Carriera, Buskers Festival, and Chestnut Festival, or exploring Rome on a day trip.

The space
Antica Casa delle Castagne is a three-level historic home, bright and spacious with preserved original details and modern comforts. It can host up to 5 guests, making it ideal for couples, families, or groups. The top floor offers panoramic views of the Lepini Mountains, while the central location places you within walking distance of Carpineto’s piazzas, shops, and restaurants. It’s a rare opportunity to stay in a renovated antique home at a competitive price, blending medieval charm with everyday comfort.

Guest access
Guests enjoy the entire property with full privacy – no shared spaces. Whether you’re here to relax, explore, or celebrate, the house is yours to make your own during your stay.

Other things to note
Guests with reduced mobility may have difficulties accessing the house and historic centre. The house has internal stairs, not suitable for people with reduced mobility, and the village is full of slopes. Very tall or large guests may find some spaces, such as the shower, less comfortable due to the home’s historic character.
👉 On request during autumn and winter, we can also arrange firewood for the indoor fireplace, at an extra cost. We can also arrange a special chestnut-picking and roasting experience—a true Carpineto Romano tradition. This includes a ride in our family’s vintage Fiat 500, a visit to our family chestnut grove, roasting chestnuts over a fire, and tasting our homemade family wine. This experience is subject to availability and comes at an additional cost. Please contact us directly for details.

The house is located in the heart of the historical town. It is within walking distance from the famous "Palazzo Pecci",where Pope Leo XIII was born. The Church of San Leone Magno(XIX century) is close to.There are many other churches that can be visited too,all walking distance from the house. The best thing tough,it is to walk through the caracteristic small alleys and admire the beautiful old buildings of the town and get stoked with the unique view of the mountain and valley that suddenly can appear in front of your eyes. The two main part of the old town are connected by the pretty central square, Piazza Regina Margherita. From there you can keep exploring the old town, reaching the highest part of it,where the stunning Reggia Dei Volsci, with annexed museum,is.The experience would not be completed without a visit to one of the traditional shop, trattorias, restaurants where you will be delightful by the unique taste of our traditional products.
