Puuepa is the site of the ancient Mo'okini Heiau (temple) whose origins date back 1,500 years ago to the first human migration from the Marquesas. Puuepa is also the birthplace of King Kamehameha the Great who conquered and unified the Hawaiian Islands. Decades later, St. Damien became the pastor of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church before taking on his destined work of charity at the Kalaupapa Leper Colony on Molokai. Lei O Kohala is located near the old sugar plantation town of Hawi with its many shops, galleries and restaurants. 2 miles further, quaint Kapaau town is the site of the original statue of King Kamehameha. Continuing on the Akoni Pule Highway, you will end at the outlook overlooking breathtakingly beautiful and inspiring Pololu Valley. Awhalecrossing Gazebo Tiki Hut

Our place is a cute, rustic cottage in the countryside, surrounded by 850 acres. Only 3 miles from Hawi Town and walking distance to ocean and historical trails to Kamehameha's birth site and Mo'okini Heiau. Since we live by pastures we sometimes have geckos (our local lizard). They are our friends because they eat the bugs, which we sometimes have. Awesome ocean and sunset views. During Humpback Whale Season (Dec-Apr) you can sometimes hear the whales sing and flapping their tails.

Little Cottage

This is the first place on the property the sun reaches each morning. Nestled against ironwood, arica palm, cook pine, Formosan koa, and Timor black bamboo, it is surrounded by native plants such as tī and kipukupuku fern—giving a tranquil vibe hearkening back to earlier times. Inside, most windows face east, opening to prevailing winds, making it light and airy. A deck off the front door faces west, and opens onto a kahua hula (stage) set among trees, shrubs and grass.

Enjoy the natural beauty surrounding this historic getaway. This property is located on the Big Island of Hawaii It goes back to the 1800's, from my family. Peaceful Luxury Camping located close to Keokea Beach Park, Pololu Valley and more. Just a few feet away from this tent you can see Pololu Valley in the back yard. On Some days you can see some of Maui, lots of ocean view and you being here you can feel the MANA (power) of the land.

This unique "cottage" sits on 5 acres of garden, orchard and gulch--guests may pick seasonal produce. It is peaceful and quiet but with easy access to two cute towns. The owners run a farm on the back 20 acres with chickens, sheep, goats and cattle.
