“Very well appointed cottage in a charming village location. A good base from which to explore the South Devon coast and within easy reach of Exeter. We found the property comfortable and spacious. It was a cosy retreat and almost everything had been provided for. The pub was friendly and barely 30m from the door. Buses stopped at the end of the road and semed very reliable. Parking was on-street and we parked nearby without any problem. The addition of TVs in all bedrooms was a useful extra. The instructions were pretty comprehensive and there was good local knowledge available too. Despite the storm we remained nicely cocooned inside. We will certainly keep the cottage in mind in future and would definitely recommend it.”
'Curlew' is on the East beach in the lovely Devon village of Branscombe. It has a unique position right on the beach on a raised elevation, throw open the balcony doors and you are looking out onto the ever changing sea and stunning coastline which is a World Heritage site and area of outstanding natural beauty. There are two fine pubs supplying excellent food and locally brewed ales in the village and amazing cliff path walks East or West.
“Perfection location, such a peaceful beach! My boys loved playing outside and loved staying in the chalet! It was a homely and relaxed space and the balcony made it perfect as you could sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the sun while the kids played on a deserted beach right infront of the chalet. They also loved having evening camp fires on the beach! We stayed here only last week and had amazing weather on one day, walked to the top of the hill next to the beach, fantastic views! But a very hard climb for adults let alone my 2 year old! Worth it for the views though! Watched the sun rises over the mountain side at 6.30am which was beautiful! Would definitely stay here again but next time I would pack lighter as my husband wasn’t happy with me as he had to carry our stuff which was a heavy suitcase up a hill and down again on to the beach... if you read reviews like I did (but didn’t take advice) take that one thing from it, pack light, small bags, easier to transport to the chalet. Apparently the guys in the car park said they do offer a service to drive people down there with their belongings on their beach buggy thing for a price. Sadly we didn’t know this until the last day, but worth finding them in the car park area if you have a few bags because your staying with kids and bedding etc to take to the chalet! Jonathan was a great host who answered my messages and calls straight away, genuinely caring and wanted to know if we had enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back, it’s a perfect space which is basic, nothing fancy but it’s all you need when your in a beautiful location like that, whatever the weather! The modern bathroom and kitchen area is a nice touch to an older chalet which has character! Thank you again Jonathan! Our children, my husband and I loved it!”
This cosy, spacious apartment forms part of The Old Butchers - a large property home to an arts and crafts studio. We are located in the heart of Uffculme, a pretty village with two pubs, a café, fish and chips bar and two local shops. The area is great for dog walking, hiking, fishing and cycling with the river Culm close by. Uffculme is close to junction 27 and mid distance between Exeter and Taunton with a nearby rail link at Tiverton Parkway.
“Lisa's place is a charmingly presented and beautifully appointed flat, located in a very attractive Devon country village, set in the midst of the most wonderful pastoral scenery, through which many lovely walks can be taken (and we did!). Lisa herself is a lovely gentle person who is a pleaure to talk with, and we can recommend both her and her place to other guests with great warmth and enthusiasm.”
