We are a family run mountain lodge in a beautiful, isolated location. The lodge is in a national park, riverside, at the base of mountains towering 1300m above. Hiking trails start at the front door, swimming in the river during Summer is deliciously refreshing. See the seasons changing in Autumn on a walk to Ichinokura (2 hours round trip) or Tanigawadake Ropeway (10 mins walk) or climb Mt Tanigawa from the base. The snow in Winter is of excellent quality and plentiful.

The space
The room has a private toilet and wash basin. Bathing facilities are separate Men's and Women's, Japanese style bath's and showers. Our baths are full from 4:30pm to 9:30pm and showers can be used 24 hours a day.
We serve breakfast and dinner at the lodge, there are a number of lunch options within walking distance.

Where you’ll be

​Nature is what sets Tenjin Lodge apart, no neighbours, just trees, rivers and mountains. The 10 meter waterfall and Yubiso river, adjacent to the lodge, provide a wonderful soundtrack during your stay and there are numerous swimming holes to choose from.
Winds from the ice at Ichinokura, keep temperatures cool during Summer.
The surrounding mountains are too steep for forestry which means varied flora and exquisite colors and contrasts as the leaves change in October and early November.
Winter sees us a one minute drive or 10 minute walk to Tenjindaira Ski Resort, one of Japan's top backcountry destinations.
Tenjin Lodge offers complimentary shuttles to Tenjindaira, Hodaigi and Okutone Ski Resorts.
In Summer time, our only guide is Lucky (Lodge Border Collie and winner of friendliest dog in the world, numerous times).
In Winter we offer guided backcountry tours, ski and snowboard lessons, full ski rentals, snowshoe trekking tours and kids can sled right beside the lodge provided it's not snowing heavily. ​
