Guest house holiday rentals in Iowa

Cabin was exactly what we needed for our 4 day trip. Easy to get to and comfortable to be in after a day in the field. Very nice to wake in the morning and watch all the deer come and go.

it was a short stay, but the place was very welcoming! Honestly probably one of the most welcoming airbnb's I've stayed at so far. She provided us with a little welcoming bottle of wine & a smore's kit! The patio that goes out to the lake was gorgeous! I wish we could have stayed longer. I think it would feel very cozy in the wintertime.

Wonderful stay in a adorable apartment with a stunning view. Perfect for a much-needed getaway. Situated right by the pond with a lovely hot tub.

The Acorn Cabin was the perfect overnight spot for our trip to Iowa’s Driftless Area. Kim and Mike are wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed our visits with them over our four night stay. The cabin is full of little details that immediately made us feel at home, and we looked forward to returning there after days spent exploring the beautiful surroundings! Be sure to watch the DVD about the Driftless Area that’s in the upstairs bedroom to gain an appreciation for the area. Decorah has small town charm with plenty of restaurant options…thanks to our hosts for some great recommendations! Last, but certainly not least, we loved having the Icelandic sheep right outside and enjoyed learning about them. Sleep came easy with the sound of their “baas”through the open windows. We’ll definitely be back for a return stay at the Acorn Cabin❤️

The Corn Crib is a very cozy place to stay after a long day. The kitchen is stocked with anything you could think of! Loved the decor of the Crib and the surroundings were quiet and beautiful 🍂 Will definitely stay again!

We really enjoyed our time at this guest house. It was so clean and adorable! Friendly dogs that greeted us when we arrived! We would definitely stay here again!

Great experience. Cresco is a great break it turns out. I was there for work but the town is just like i remember the year 1991. Cute place. So relaxing. Not a single bad thing to say. Loved it.

That cabin was perfect for a quick getaway! It had everything we needed, plus that amazing countryside view. So cozy. We met Lora when we checked out, and she was super nice and willing to communicate with us. We also checked out some fun stuff – the High Trestle bridge, Whatcha Smokin', and the Whistling Donkey.

My second stay at Zack’s! It’s a great place and he is highly responsive! Close to town and just far enough way to get that country feel. I’ll be staying again for sure!

This place is so charming, very walkable to Main Street McGregor and with beautiful river views. Loved the unique wallpapers and cheerful kitchen, and the antique touches! Three different dining places to sit down and eat or enjoy a cup of coffee :)The host was really friendly and responsive, with clear and easy instructions. Lots of stairs and an occasional train horn keep you on your toes - overall we made great memories in this lovely historic building!!

Our group of 5 enjoyed staying at Wendy’s house while we were attending a ball tournament. Wendy and her husband were both very friendly and informative about the area, places to eat, and tourist attractions. We greatly enjoyed staying at Wendy’s and would highly recommend it!

Ali and Bogey have a beautiful guest house located near downtown Iowa. It was super cute and very spacious, while also being cozy! The neighborhood is INCREDIBLE and felt very safe. I got in very late my first night and felt secure getting unloaded and in the house. As hosts, Ali and Bogey were very responsive and helpful and very sweet. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place more for a solo traveler or a couple.

We had a great long weekend at Courtney's cottage. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable! We could walk to most places, which is what we wanted. The private outdoor space was perfect for the evenings, to sit and swing and look at the stars, also very quiet. We are excited to come back and stay! We didn't see everything we wanted to on this visit. We had perfect weather, too, for the end of September.

Just a few miles from Northwestern College so it was a nice place to visit with our college kids and do a few other outings in Sioux center.

Dan's place was exceptional. It was exactly as described, and it was pretty cool being in this neat house in rural Iowa. I was traveling from Chicago, so I didn't get this experience every day. The indoor decoration was extensive and incredible. It's not every day you get to live in an accommodation with Pac-Man, arcade games, or a giant TV. It also had a beer tap, and a lot of thought and care was put into the construction of this place. The one thing though is that there are fish in the pool, and one of the fish nibbled on me when I went into the water. This wasn't a big deal, though something you should be aware of in advance.

Michelle and Chad were fantastic hosts for our daughter who stayed there as she wrapped up her senior year of college. They made everything easy for us and were so friendly. The place was great and exactly as advertised. I would highly recommend them and their place to anyone.

Well thought out. Beautiful yard and so cool to see the animals on the property. Worked great for our visit to Boone. The couch is very comfortable.

We loved our stay at trestle bridge inn! The space is large, beautiful and uniquely decorated. I was most impressed with how little sound traveled throughout the space. We had our two month old with us and there was no issues with noises outside the bedroom waking him up! Helen was extremely easy to work with and we would definitely stay again!

Our stay at Sherry’s was absolutely lovely. As lots of reviews mention, her hosting skills are above and beyond. We came for a birthday fishing weekend; she left a little present of fishing lures and treats for my son. Her thoughtfulness showed up in every aspect of the stay. This is a fantastic retreat in a quiet, and especially good if you are hoping to fish. My sons lived by the water. It’s close to Omaha, as well, so there are great restaurants and activities nearby. Highly recommend.

Driving up the long driveway to this beautiful home was so wonderful! Everything in the photos was spot on and it was so wonderful to see the place in person. The College Loft was perfect. Clean, inviting, cozy and comfortable. The bed was amazing not just the mattress but the pillows and comforter as well. Decorah is a lovely and quaint town with so many wonderful restaurants, bars, coffee shops, hiking trails and a wonderful farmers market we were able to attend Saturday morning. Amanda and her family were so warm and friendly. This is definitely on our list to come back in 2025 and spend more time and know we will be in a cozy and inviting place.
