“Loved our stay here!!! An absolute oasis in busy Kandy with monkeys and birds in the beautiful garden and the prettiest bedroom we stayed in during our trip. Its a short drive into the centre of Kandy, but having seen how hectic it is, we were glad to have a bit of calm. The very best thing about this gem of a place however is Champ’s dad, such a friendly and knowledgeable man! We were only here for one afternoon / evening and were a bit unsure of the best plan. He arranged the perfect itinirary (gardens, a wander around the lake, kandyan dancing, temple visit and a great dinner spot) and booked our Tuk Tuk driver Gehan who picked us up and dropped us off for the whole day for a very reasonable fixed price. He was bang on time, every single pick up, and answered all of our questions about the city. If you want to get through traffic in a hurry - Gehan is your man. He took us to a lovely lookout point on our way home at the end of the day. Champ’s dad was also brilliant at giving advice for our train to Ella the next day, arranged for Gehan to take us to the station and packed us a lovely breakfast for our trip. Would recommend to anyone looking for a very warm welcome, and a bit of peace away from the city.”
The Square Peg is a quirky hotel located halfway up the legendary Bahirawakanda hill. It is within a 4 minute drive from the kandy Railway station (1.1km) 10 minutes by foot. 1Km to the Temple of the tooth and the Kandy lake. The rooftop lounge exclusive for inhouse guest offers breathtaking views of the entire city of Kandy including the historic Temple of the tooth, the Kandy lake, the old Bogambara prison and the Hanthana mountain range.
“The Hotel / Loft is located above the roofs of Kandy in the immediate vicinity of the famous Buddha statue. From the roof terrace you have an incredibly great view of the city, which makes the breakfast served there a real highlight. The rooms are new and modern. Large shower including hair dryer and towels available. Air conditioning works very well and lets you sleep at night with pleasant temperatures. The host is very friendly and tries to give good tips. The beautiful view naturally has the price that you are not directly in the city center and have to walk about 15-20 minutes to get there. As an alternative, there is the "PickMe" app, which, like "Uber", allows you to order TukTuks or cars for very little money (we paid around € 1 for the journey between the hotel and the train station). Another advantage is that the price is already fixed here and you don't have to argue with TukTuk drivers whether you pay more or less. All in all, the accommodation is highly recommended!”
With Sri Lanka becoming an ever more popular location to visit, finding the perfect place to stay becomes even harder. We make life easy for you by providing you with arguably the most convenient and comfortable Airbnb in Kandy. Use our place as a base and explore the surrounding areas as most of our guests do! Sigiriya and Nuwara Eliya are close by and the popular Ella train trip can be taken from Kandy as well (ask us for tips on how to avoid the crowd and get a seat).
“Ezra was away so his gorgeous Mother took care of us. She was so incredibly welcoming and kind and her English perfect (I believe she is quite multilingual!). The apartment is stunning with great style, spotlessly clean with lots of lovely added touches (including lovely bed linen!). It’s a great location, very close to the station and all amenities. I would highly recommend a stay here!”
