The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . The mini house is an old stone chestnut dryer that has been converted into a mini home. You have to take the outside stairs to reach the different rooms. There's a wood burning stove (free wood) that makes the house very pleasant even in winter. Notice to hikers, many hiking departures at the doors of the house.
