We stayed at this cottage in 2021 and returned for a second week here at the beginning of April 2024. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the first time, and things had only improved for this second stay. The inclusion of WIFI was very handy when planning our days out as mobile reception is fairly patchy throughout the national park. The new wood burner really kept us toasty during a wet week and helped with drying out boots at the end of the day! The kitchen had everything we needed and more, and the bathrooms were very clean. We enjoyed the view very much and spent quite some time just watching the birds and the changing weather. Our children were delighted the Wii was still working; that and the plentiful DVDs and books gave us plenty to do on the one day the weather was too bad to go walking. Loughrigg Fell and the Tarn are well worth exploring (we swam in it last time, too cold this time!), as is Rydal Cave if you get the chance - all walkable from this cottage. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay at The Nest! Brilliant base to explore the lakes. Clean, tidy, and the shower is lovely and hot! Would definitely stay again! Julie and Tim were lovely hosts, we stayed over Valentine’s Day and Julie knocked on the door with a bottle of drink and chocolate, so kind! Will be recommending to people xx

Michelle's place, Tarn House, really is a gem. I couldn't believe how thoughtfully put together it was, and that for once, it was actually nicer in person than in the photos. The decorations, fixtures, and generally everything in the house is of very high quality, and is obviously real, human stuff, rather than generic algorithm optimised. I do not have a child but the basket of children's books was one of the most touching details in any place I've stayed. I would honestly not hesitate to stay here again or recommend anyone else to. It was a beautiful place, and you can even take some leisurely walked right from the front door, or drive 15-20 minutes (bus option possible, but not super convenient) to access some of the most storied Lake District walks.
