Cozy country guest house. 10 minutes from downtown Auburn and 45 minutes from boreal / Lake Tahoe. Private road that dead ends into a lake. Tons of hiking and water activities.
“Laura's cute little guesthouse was an absolute delight to stay in. My boyfriend and I both could not stop raving about how perfect it was. Laura's hospitality far exceeded our expectations with her thoughtful touches and quick communication. We stayed for Valentine's Day and were welcomed by a cute little box of Valentine's Day chocolates and the heater already on making the place cozy upon our arrival. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the kitchen and decor were very cute. It is obvious a lot of thought went into putting the place together. If you are looking for a place to retreat, I highly recommend this gem. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again! Thank you, Laura!”
Hummingbird House is a tiny house decorated in a vintage style, with quality craftsmanship, making use of all recycled building materials. Tucked away on 20 acres with gardens all around, goats, hens, ducks, dogs and cats. The house is newly remodeled and has kitchen, bathroom, double bed, single bed/nook/couch, and dining area table and chairs, with modern heating and air conditioning. Coffee, herbal teas from the garden, sugar, honey, creamy goat milk and cheese are all supplied from the farm.
“Cottage interior is delightfully panelled in nice wood. Delicious tomatoes and chard from garden, and others we didn't sample, for cooking on gas range and in toaster oven. Very friendly, gentle and quiet dog greets guests and will happily escort them around the hilly property, with one of the three cats chipping in occasionally. Four penned goats are also happy to scrutinize and sniff guests and have their heads scratched. Hosts patiently answer questions about the elaborate homesteading done here over many decades. Surprisingly decent Wifi connection for such a remote location, although little or no signal for my cell phone. Absence of a TV contributes, alongside the smell of many kinds of trees and shrubs, to the feeling of taking time off from urban life, while being only short drives away from nice restaurants and other shopping.”
Our guesthouse is across the driveway from the main house on 1.5 acres on a quiet country road, yet only 2 miles from Old Town Auburn, 3 miles from the Auburn State Recreation Area, and 1.5 hours from Lake Tahoe. The guesthouse is approximately 375 sq ft, has its own entrance with convenient parking, a well-appointed kitchenette, a bedroom with a full size bed adjoining a private deck, and a huge bathroom with a closet. It’s perfect for a couple or single, and suitable for longer term stays.
“THIS was just what I needed. Making a cross country trip by car to pick up my son from college in San Francisco. It has been stressful time for all of us and Gina's place was so special, in nature, cool and fresh, spacious and so comfortable. The chorus frogs sang to me all night long! The hummingbirds in the morning were heavenly! Gina is an excellent accommodating host and I really really appreciate this very special place. If I need to go this way again I will DEFINITELY stay here! THANK YOU!!”
