Bush Hill Cottage, on Bush Hill Farm, is the perfect place to take a break and forget the stresses of life or use as a base to try the many activities in our beautiful Ruapehu district. We are close to Tongariro National Park and Whanganui River where your adventures can begin. Our place is great for couples, solo adventurers, and families with children.
“The farm cottage is 100% what it is advertising. A cosy cottage on a farm! We loved our four night stay here lot. Being in the middle of all the sheep and birds etc. is amazing. The location is tranquality par excellence. On top comes the view to Mount Ruapehu on clear days:-) and a close proximity to all highlights (Tongariro NP and Whanganui NP). All in all a wonderful experience with a super nice host Cathy we enjoyed chatting with a lot!”

“The photos and descriptions don't even do this place justice. Pros: So much space and character! The communal sleeping area in the lofts are so cute, this whole lodge could possibly sleep up to 12 people: 1 queen master bedroom with ensuite, 1 queen bedroom, 4 x single beds and 2 x queen beds in the communal sleeping area lofts. Huge kitchen and walk-in pantry, 2 dining areas, 2 lounges, and a huge deck with a gorgeous view of Mt. Ruapehu. As for bathrooms, there's an ensuite in the master bedroom and the others are downstairs: 1 x toilet and shower, 1 x toilet, 1 x shower. Useful extras were laundry room, cleaning and cooking supplies, BBQ, toiletries, books, board games and lots of towels, sheets and blankets. My favourite thing was the amount of privacy we had. The lodge was up a mountain (about 1 minute drive up) and the hosts stayed in the Kindling Cottage below. Cons: Because we were there during the summertime there were so many bugs!!! You just have to be mindful of closing all the windows, doors and turning off all the lights by the time the sun went down otherwise, they will all be drawn to the lodge. The house, being made of wood, makes a lot of creaking noises (which gave the space a little bit of a creepy haunted house feel- so fun!) but it was a little annoying at night when we were trying to sleep. Water pressure was very gentle and the water temperature would change if the tap was also going at the same time. They have a very cute vintage stereo that still takes CD's and cassette tapes but also has the option for an aux cord, so I would recommend bringing an aux or your own speaker if you're planning to listen to some music. Overall such a wonderful place! We will 100% be back and will be recommending this place to all my friends and family. (:”

“A fabulous wee spot with spectacular views of Mt Ruapehu. It was a great base to do the Tongariro Crossing from. Door to door service from the Ohakune shuttle service made it super easy.”
