“Loris and Paola, thank you so much for creating a place like TORRE DEL GRIFONE and inviting everyone to visit it! You are good wizards who have allowed us to live in a fabulous house from our dreams for several days. Your house is one of the sights of the province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which was only accidentally forgotten to be noted in the guidebooks on Italy. The description of the apartments and photos are fully true, a very good access road. The house itself and the surrounding area are beautiful and calm. Everything in the house is made of natural materials: stone walls and floors, doors and furniture made of wood, towels and bed linen made of cotton. The house has all the necessary kitchen utensils. All beds have good mattresses. The house is located in a small village in the middle of the forest where the hiking trail begins. The trail is comfortable, without steep climbs, very convenient for walking with children. It’s interesting to go: on the route there is a river, a stone bridge, a forest lake with a small waterfall. When we chose apartments in Italy, we could not believe that the photos of this house are real. We specifically changed our travel itinerary to come to TORRE DEL GRIFONE and convince everyone that this is true. We are very pleased to have made such a decision. Our expectations were met !!! We are very happy that we were visiting Loris and Paola! This is the most vivid impression of the apartment for five years of travel!”
A small room with a marked modern style. Two large windows through which a wonderful light enters.
“Maria and Eric’s house was a great place to stay in the Slovenian wine country of Goriska Brda. The room is at the top of the house, up a flight of stairs, so it’s a bit more private than the others. It did get a bit cold while we were there, but there is a radiator in the room that you an open to heat the room. The bathroom is detached but is only a couple of steps from the bedroom. The bathroom looks brand new and was remodeled very nicely. Maria was super helpful leading up to our stay offering suggestions on wineries and places to eat. Her and her husband we kind enough to try and help us book places while we were there. They also served us breakfast both days in their dinning room over looking the hills (7 euro / person additional per day). Food was great and quite plentiful! They also have a washer and drier available for 5 euro each which was nice to be able to do some laundry mid-trip (both take about 2 hrs each, although don’t overload the dryer like we did, clothes were still damp in the morning). Overall home sits on the ridge of the northern hills and offers beautiful views. Almost everything was 10-15 min drive away so super convenient for us. Word of caution for planning in this region: we came to the region on Sunday and Monday. Most things are closed on Sunday afternoon and most all day Monday. It’s best to plan a visit any other day or carefully research operation hours (which I didn’t). For wine tasting at actual wineries, you’ll need to make reservations, you can’t just show up like most places in the US. Gredič was a great tasting room that Maria suggested and is open every day, highly recommend this place!”
