“What a little paradise! Peaceful location, looking out over the valley. Large terraces covered with grape vines, hammok and lots of comfy seating where we enjoyed sunsets, sunrises and starlit skies. Only sounds were goat bells, birds, bees and the purring of a friendly family of cats. Beatiful home that combines traditional style with modern amenities: large hot shower, good gas stove, lots of space with many comfy sofas as well as wood burning stove which we enjoyed in the autumn evenings (and cooked chestnuts on from up the road), a traditional wood fired bread oven outside and a cold outdoor shower to cool off on hot days. You could spend hours noticing all the beautiful, artistic touches: lovely olive wood lamps, colourful woven rugs, driftwood art, painted pebbles, etc. It really is a home away from home. Antonis met us at the house and was very welcoming and incredibly generous, leaving a supply of local food. The kitchen is well stocked with jars of local herbs and olives, and we made good use of the orange juicer :) Just 20 mins drive to the local town of Palaiochora with good supermarkets, restaurants and some lovely beaches. We did part of the long distance E4 coastal walk from there and got the bus and ferry to the Samaria Gorge.”
The apartment is a ground floor apartment located in a residential area on the hillside of Paleochora. It is very simple with everything that you need. There is plenty of cupboard space. A full kitchen. It is a classically decorated Greek home.
“Margaret’s place is very lovely. It is just a 5-10 min walk (depending on your pace) to the town center and even less to the beautiful beach. The view from the house is also very nice and quite enjoyable during a morning coffee or evening wine. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, was very clean and even a few extras: beach umbrella, snorkel and coffee :) Margaret herself is a very lovely person and is quick to offer you loads of great information and tips regarding not only Palaiochora but also Crete in general. Thanks Margaret! We had a lovely stay.”
Traditional stone house with two separate bedrooms and a large living room with a complete κitchen and a loft. Also there is a small terrace on the street as shown on the pictures. In the center of Paleochora.
“We loved our stay here and had a great time. The house is spacious and fully equipped. We travelled with our 1yr old baby, there was everything we needed including crib, high chair, toys and mixer for making baby food! We enjoyed sitting outside on the leafy street while our baby napped. Maro was a lovely host - she made us feel very welcome. Paleochora is a wonderful town and well worth visiting, especially with young kids. The house is central so we could walk everywhere. There are lots of great food options and nice boutiques. There are a number of different beaches to choose from, all just steps away from the house! This was a highlight food our trip and we highly recommend Maro’s house.”
