“A place in the mountains where the road ends. Tiny village with old houses. The apartment is authentically furnished like a grandma would still live here. With thick and heavy warm blankets, woven table-clothes. Very genuine atmosphere for this place. You can go outside and hike the mountains right from the house or slide the slopes in the winter for some great fun. The area is scattered with tiny villages dated a few centuries ago. Pietro welcomed us with the bottle of wine and there was everything to have a very nice breakfast. 10 min drive down there is also a very nice pizzeria. If you drive in the dark, beware of the deer crossing the mountain roads, we almost crashed into one and saw a few more on the roadsides.”
Stone house, ground floor: entrance, bathroom, kitchen with fireplace, first floor: leaving area with futon, TV, view of the river; second floor: bedroom. The area offers beautiful walks along the Mastallone creek as well as more demanding hikes on high mountains (all marked by the CAI). The Mastallone is one of the best rivers for fly fishing in the North of Italy, characterized by runs and deep bathing pools. Just on the corner, there is a nice, small tavern and about 2 km far away a grocery
“To me, Walters House was perfect! It is a self renovated house with 3 floors, very skillfully done and with an amazing eye for detail and showing a great taste for interior styling. It has all that one would ever need for a full holiday of a few weeks. Ever better, find a job and you could actually become a resident of the magnificent valley without moving stuff out of your old house. The communication with Walter was perfect, to the point and very forthcoming. Keep in mind that you will be a guest in a locally situated valley, so practice your Italian! It makes in person communication with Walter much easier, which will be a great addition on your holiday. The strada provinciale in front of the house is actually more of local road and, aside of an enthousiastic local, is quiet and poses no problems when you use the road to explore the valley on foot (try the ancient mule-road, which starts just a few hundred meters away). When you're done relaxing near the river or exploring the valley and villages, make your way to Fobello and eat a fresh and excellent pizza in the local bar. In short, you SHOULD come to Walter's place if you like small-time tourism, peace and quiet and like (respect) the local atmosphere in a perfect valley which accomodates countless hours of exploring the alps and gives you kind faces, inviting you to participate in the local live, all around. Highly recommended indeed!”
"Ca' d' Battistin": antica casa di famiglia ristrutturata e accogliente, adiacente al bosco, con spazi verdi esterni ad uso esclusivo. In frazione Molini (comune di Calasca Castiglione), punto di arrivo della Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA).
“We had a perfect stay for 4 nights in this beautiful little place. It was beautifully and carefully decorated, so comfortable and you had absolutely everything you needed including cooking necessities like pasta, salt, olive oil, coffee, tea etc. the bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean, and well equipped and well laid out. Pino kindly helped us to get there from the train station as we had no car and offered assistance and guidance when we thought the roads might be closed on the day we were leaving. There are lovely walks around the area even without a car, and the view from the house was simply amazing. It was an amazing get away and so quiet and peaceful up in the mountains. I have never had such a peaceful sleep. It is a bit more difficult without a car, but if you contact Pino/Frederica Maria they will let you know your options.”
