Beechwood Nook

Crown Lodges are located in the Heart of the Rossendale valley- Crawshawbooth. There are three lodges in total all situated around a 140sq/m lodge with breath taking views, it is the perfect escape to the country. The site is brand new and was built by owner and host Sam through the covid-19 pandemic 2018-2021 with his keen eye for building, the site is loved and adored by many of the locals and has proved a massive hit so far. Beechwood nook located to the left hand side of our site features the most privacy of the three cabins on its own stretch of pathway. Enjoy beautiful nights in your hot tub from this natural beauty spot, our lodges have something for everyone and we believe they are all-in luxury. They feature luxury kitchens, luxury bathrooms, log burners, free standing bath upstairs next to your bedroom area and everyones favourite a 2mx2m hot tub. Tip from us-Be ready with drinks in the hot tub for when it goes dark, the site lights up like something you see when your abroad and looks incredible, you can see our site from the other side of the valley which we think looks amazing. Crown Lodges is situated on a public footpath which has miles and miles of walking, for all of you that enjoy a stroll. We recommend downloading the walking app Komoot and downloading the local pack which is priced as much as a small coffee, this is like google maps for walking enthusiasts. For local things to do, I think we are up there with the best. Our local town Rawtenstall has undergone major development in the last couple of years and is getting better and better all the time. We have Rawtenstall market which has been taken over and turned into a food heaven. Once a month it has 'foodie Friday' and is packed with local stalls selling street food and deserts. Then we have Avuccirea, fire pit, La Turka, Tiger lounge and GemNi just to name a few. All providing excellent quality of food and drinks. We have a variety of bars, pubs and cafes too, far too many to mention. We are also 40mins on the x43 bus to Manchester City centre and the bus stop is within 15mins walk from our site (big hill back up not for the faint hearted). We also have the very last temperance bar in the country Mr Fitzpatrick's established in 1899 which recently featured on the hairy bikers, this is 100% worth a visit. Ideal for couples looking for a quiet getaway but still close to exciting things to do, this brand new development is your number one hot spot for 2021. Once you come you will not want to leave, from experience our site looks so incredibly different every season. We have fantastic summers and snowy winters. One thing to note: Upstairs in the Beechwood nook cabin is restricted head height, so if your very tall you may want to pick one of the other lodges. If this doesn't bother you then its a cosy little space upstairs. The rest of the Lodge is 2.3m head height so its just the upstairs that's restricted.

All about Rossendale

Lancashire countryside combines with mill-town heritage in this pretty valley in the foothills of the Pennines. Where once there was a mighty medieval forest, the scenery is now all grassy hills and dales, populated with a cluster of towns and villages containing some of the best-preserved architecture from the Northwest’s industrial age: cobbled courtyards, weavers’ cottages, the Helmshore Mills (now a textile museum), and grand houses that once belonged to mill owners and are now open to the public.

The steam railway that ferried cotton 200 years ago now carries passengers through its scenic landscape, while the market town of Rawtenstall has parlayed its artisanal roots into a vibrant scene of independent boutiques and eateries. It’s also gained a reputation as a destination for outdoor activities and adrenaline sports. The quarries above Bacup have been converted into venues for off-roading and mountain biking, Cowm Reservoir is a waterskiing centre, and there’s even an outdoor dry ski slope, the Hill.

What are the top things to do in Rossendale?

The Halo

Overlooking the town of Haslingden, this eye-catching piece of modern sculpture (which illuminates at night) is one of four panopticons commissioned to light up the Lancashire skyline. Halfway between a cauldron and a UFO, the Halo sits at the top of a former quarry that has since been reclaimed as a nature reserve, and is a great place to ramble among birds and butterflies taking in the views.

Whitworth

Located south of Bacup on the way to Rochdale, this lovely town has a historic square complete with a 17th-century inn. There are plenty of signs of Whitworth’s part in the cotton industry, too, as well as a traditional brewery and a fudge factory. The neighbouring Cowm Reservoir offers waterside and woodland walks.

Healey Dell Nature Reserve

This little woodland spot is known for its gorge, through which the River Spodden has coursed for millennia. The result is an extremely pretty series of pools and waterfalls, as well as a grotto known as the Fairies Chapel and a 17th-century stone arch (the Fairy Bridge, naturally). A 100-foot- tall viaduct built for the Victorian railway is now a nature trail.
