  • Was exactly what I was looking for. Nights can be cold, but Karylyn has more than enough blankets to stay cozy - very cute space / definitely a little nostalgia!

    Samuel2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Karylyn is a fantastic host who will go out of her way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Communications were answered quickly and accurately. The room is separate from the main house so it's very private. The bathroom is not connected to the room and is about 50 feet away, but was very clean and inviting. I will be back! Thank you Karylyn!

We recently acquired the house we live in which has an efficiency apartment in the back. It is cozy and private. The house is old and unique. It was previously a long term rental. We wanted to provide a restful space in the heart of Maine Highlands, the crossroads of Central Maine. We enjoy the scenic area with beautiful lakes rivers, multiuse trail systems and trail head of the 100 mile wilderness of the Appalachian Trail, Moosehead lake, Maine's largest lake, and State Parks.
This is a small, private apartment looking over a field where wildlife is often seen. We love to watch the wildlife, turkeys, deer, squirrels and birds. We are surrounded by lakes, rivers, and trail systems. We have a beautiful covered bridge 10 minutes away. We provide horse shoes, fire pit and gas grill on request. We also include cable TV, wifi and washer/dryer.
We live in a quiet, family friendly neighborhood. Very residential and private.
  • Spoiled for choice, this spot has the best selection of amenities I've ever experienced from an Airbnb! It was very easy to quickly feel at home. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook meals comfortably. Ruth is an amazing host and communication was easy. I would easily stay here again and can highly recommend to anyone.

    Abby2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing place with beautiful scenery and great Internet signal. Cozy and warm, a haven away from the world. A wonderful way to spend a weekend winter in Maine.

    Josh2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth is a wonderful host, and her place is really cozy! Thanks again, Ruth.

    Isaac2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth's place was great for my partner and I to spend the night on our way to Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness. We arrived late in the evening but Ruth still greeted us and made sure we were comfortable. She also had muffins and coffee in the apartment for us which was an excellent touch! The apartment is clean and quaint, with everything you need for a night or a few days. I would certainly recommend Ruth's place to other travelers that are looking for an affordable option in the region.

My place is close to nature; sitting at the foot of Buker Mountain, elevation 1020 ft. A trail to the top of the mountain offers views of Sebec lake and surrounding mountains. An additional trail to the right, will take you to an abandoned granite quarry. The area is a great spot for hunting and fishing. Additional hiking is a short drive from the camp. It's a great place to unplug. If this property is already booked, check out my camp on the lake! https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15003431?s=51
Cabin in the woods. Fireplace is available for use but we recommend some knowledge of using the damper or you will fill the house with smoke. The cabin has a rustic exterior with modern amenities inside. We offer weekly rates.
The cabin is situated on a town maintained dirt road. It has 3 season access. Most of the neighbors are a good distance away. They are friendly and helpful. Don`t be surprised if someone stops by to chat. I block use of the cabin in the winter, due to the road conditions; the town does not plow the road that passes by the camp. It is available May through November.
  • Beautiful place to go camping. can get lost easily so take your time getting their. enjoy your surroundings.

    Andy2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin has ample room with modern rustic charm. Very large property to enjoy and spend a relaxing weekend away.

    Jaye2019-10-06T00:00:00Z

    Michelle2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin in the woods is absolutely a great getaway. We have been twice and already want to go back. Very quiet, clean and cozy. Just a perfect spot to escape busy life.

  • A great secluded spot, wish there was wifi or cell service but we worked our way without it.

    Sabiha2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Vickie is an outstanding host. Her communication is spot on, and she will make you feel right at home. The location is gorgeous, right in the middle of beautiful country woods. Expect that you will be well heated for cold nights, but it's Maine, temperatures can get a bit hot in the summer. Thanks Vickie!

    Stephen2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Vickie's cabin was quaint, cute, and full of personal touches. We were more than comfortable and found it to be better than expected. We mostly used the cabin for sleeping as we went back and forth to another camp on the lake. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had more amenities than expected. The fridge was perfect size for the long weekend. The tv and dvd were used a bit by adults and kids. The bathroom with a full-size tub/shower was excellent. The cabin was neat and clean. We had a great time!

    Shelby2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Vickie's place was absolutely fantastic - exactly what we needed; quiet and beautiful location in the woods, and the cabin was clean, comfortable, and incredibly cozy. The working fireplace was our favorite bit! Also a huge thanks to Vickie to having the area plowed due to last minute snow and saving our weekend plans - fantastic host! We will for sure be back again.

Come stay on the grounds of a 1913 Edwardian Colonial in the original carriage house at Peony Hill. The carriage house is a full one bedroom, full bath, kitchen, eat-in dining area, along with spacious living room complete with a cottage/cabin feel. The decor is quaintly appointed with regional Maine finds and vintage antiques scattered in the professional decor.
Dexter is the heart of Maine. A small quintessential New England town in the Maine Highlands.
Dexter Maine is home to the original Dexter Shoe Factory, along with the Woolen Mills that made Dexter a thriving town. Now it is a small, quaint area in the center of Maine within walking distance to Lake Wassookeag, a 1200 acre lake. Great fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming. ATV and snowmobile trails abound. Close to many area attractions including Bangor, Moosehead Lake, and Mount Katahdin.
  • This is a super cute place and the hosts were very nice, helpful and so easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend the Carriage House to anyone traveling to this part of Maine.

  • If you’re heading to Dexter Maine or the area, this is your place. Perfect for a couple or small family. The guest house was charming. We stayed following a wedding in Sangerville to cut down on night time driving. This cozy, cute place has everything needed for a longer stay. Very pleasant owner with good communication.

  • Outstanding experience. If you are unsure of this booking , believe me you won’t be disappointed. I have stayed in approx 12 spots this last year, and this place is amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to return to this area of Maine again and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this place and will definitely pass along recommendations to friends and family.

  • We really enjoyed the cabin! The beds were nice and comfortable and the hosts were outstanding having the cabin heated nice and toasty before our arrival on a cold night. The cabin was easy to find and a great central location to lots of outdoor activities.

  • The cabin we stayed in was cozy, warm and the perfect spot for us to visit with some local family. The kitchen was a good size and stocked with enough cooking supplies to cook a full meal for them. The area is very remote so make sure you bring everything you need because the nearest real store is 30 minutes away. It is super great that they allowed pets and my puppy enjoyed himself as well. I heard from locals the restaurant on site is good but we didn’t get to try it ourselves. Host was super responsive when I had to message her .

    Heather2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Warm and cozy cabin. Several homey touches. Full kitchen with enough provided pots, pans and dishes to cook at the cabin but I would recommend the restaurant is your stay overlaps with their open hours. Very quiet location.

  • Authentic outdoors experience with all of the comforts of a fully equipped, heated cabin. The lodge offers no-frills home cooked food at a great price. Great value all-around!

  • The location is beautiful! We loved spending the weekend around beautiful trees and enjoying the fall season.

  • Cozy cabin, 5 ppl slept in comfort. Plenty of parking. Kitchen has necessary utensils. Location is very easy to find. Overall a comfortable stay.

  • Wonderful, clean, spacious, cozy and good food on site! What more could you ask for from a cabin in Maine? I booked the Poplar cabin via Airbnb. My brother, husband, his brother and I were there for a siblings weekend and it happened to be the same weekend as the Harmony Fair. The restaurant is open 7-7 Friday and Saturday, 7 to noon Sundays. Perfect for the weekend guests. There are three cabins, two in the woods and 1 (the poplar cabin) in the center of the area. The cabin stayed a great temperature for sleeping, we had a mini fire outside to sit around at night, there were 4 twin sized beds and one huge king bed. Plenty of blankets, towels, cooking utensils and counter space. Full sized fridge and stove/oven. My group was there because we had planned a full day of paintball up at the Flying Dutchman in Guilford, Maine. (So fun!) Couldn’t have been happier or more pleased with the location, amenities and ease of booking and getting the key. A+ , 100%, 10/10. Definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay!!!

    Tiffany2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful place for a quiet getaway. The cabin is thoughtfully appointed with everything you might need except for the food. The rooms are very spacious and fantastically decorated. The beds are very comfortable. Even during the 85 degree days we were there, between the beautiful trees and the style of the cabin it was cool and comfortable, no fan was needed. We even turned off the overhead fan. A very nice place to stay.

  • Nancy is a fabulous host! We felt welcome and comfortable, and had some great conversations. Her house is beautiful and has a great history- original wood floors, window sills, cupboards, and furniture. Our bed was warm and comfortable, and we had everything we could possibly need. We would definitely recommend Nancy’s Airbnb and would love to return one day!

  • Comfy home with a warm welcoming host.

    Nancy2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's home is a treasure! Everywhere the eye settles, there is beauty. She welcomed us with such down to earth warmth and concrete tips, that it was a stay we will not remember. We would not hesitate to stay again if we were in the neighborhood.

  • Nancy was a great host. Her home was very clean, well furnished, and comfortable. We will be back.

  • This airbnb was absolutely an unexpected gem. We only needed a place to stop for the night, but I ended up wishing we had more time to spend here! Nancy's home is gorgeous, so full of character and lovely details (and also smells amazingly of essential oils she uses for her soap-making). The outdoor shower and massive herb garden were a delightful surprise and we enjoyed lounging outside at sunset enjoying our locally made vegan pizza. Nancy was so sweet, communicative and helpful. This was my favorite Airbnb that I've stayed at, I highly recommend!

    Diana2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy is as delightful as her amazing home.

    Allice2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Usually we try to book "entire house" because we prefer to be on our own. But because we only needed a place to sleep for a night we decided to book a "private room" And we are glad we did. We arrived late at night and found Nancy in her kitchen baking. One of her other guests came down and we all got acquainted. Later a neighbor dropped by and gave us some advice on places to visit. We sat up talking till we got tired. Her room was perfect. It was upstairs along with another room for rent. And the shared bathroom was right next to ours. The next day Nancy had to leave early and let us check ourselves out. It was such a pleasant experience we decided to try "private room" more often. Talking to the host is a great way to get to know the area. Nancy was terrific and her bed was soft and comfortable. A 10 in my book

Accessible by boat or plane access only, this island getaway is located on Sebec Lake in Dover Foxcroft. This cabin has everything you need to relax. Kitchen with gas range, refrigerator and lights, screened in porch, composite outside, hammocks
This is the most remote and rustic cabin experience we can offer. Accessible by boat or plane access only, this island getaway is located on pristine Sebec Lake in Dover Foxcroft. The cabin is equipped with everything you need to rest and relax. Camp kitchen is equipped with gas powered range, refrigerator and lights. Composting Outhouse. Large Screened porch with futon, hammocks and dining for 4. 1 Double Bed, 1 Single Bed on the main level of the cabin. Loft with 1 Double Bed, 1 Single Bed. This cabin includes 2 kayaks and a paddleboat.
Sebec Lake is a pristine lake located in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. The lake is approx. 11 miles long and 2 miles wide at the widest point. Sebec Lake has several native fish species, including landlocked salmon, lake trout, brook trout, sunfish, American eel, brown bullhead, and white sucker. The average depth of Sebec Lake is 42 feet with the deepest point reaching 155 feet.
  • This little cabin on the island is truly a unique experience. I was worried about not having the modern amenities but the cabin is structured to still give you access to what you need. It is a well stocked cabin - right down to camp fire pie makers and a cribbage board. The beds all had linens (this should probably be updated in the description because we brought bedding and we didn't need to). The outdoor shower was great. Hot water for dishes as a bonus. And seriously consider sleeping on the porch on the futon. I did and I had the best nights sleep with all of the noises of natural around me. The eagles are fun to watch (but they are an early alarm clock) and they do bring in a lot of boat traffic around the island but who could blame people - they are beautiful. We saw one grab a fish and bring it home to the other eagles in the nest. Lots of sunfish for kiddos right on the dock. Fridge and stove worked great. It was a restful, peaceful weekend - I sat on the dock for hours and read a book. I haven't been able to read a book for pleasure in a really long time. Amy was super responsive and helpful.

    Danielle2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a great island! We usually go to Winnipesaukee and rent an island for a week. We decided to try something new and are so happy we did

    Rita2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place was beautiful and charming. Its incredible location makes it really unique. A trip to the island involves a bit more logistics than a normal vacation rental, but it was really worth it. You can rent a boat at Merills Marina to explore the lake and travel back to land. The cottage was rustic but really well maintained. Definitely would recommend.

    Laurier2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • My best vacation ever! Beautiful island in amazing area! I wish we could stay over there longer! Highly recommend to EVERYONE. Thank you Amy;)

  • Such a special place! We were blown away by the uniqueness and beauty of Pine Island. Our weekend trip felt like a week-long vacation and we left feeling refreshed and relaxed. We are already planning our next visit.

    Liz2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin on Pine Island is a great way to disconnect from the daily grind. We stayed at the cabin for three nights and enjoyed every second of it. Between watching the bald eagles, sitting by the fire, playing cribbage, and fishing, we were able to keep ourselves very busy without all of the amenities that we are used to nowadays. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone and will hopefully be planning my next trip to Pine Island in the coming days!

    Christian2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Everybody should experience the slice of heaven that is Big Pine Island. There's so much to fall in love with, the eagle's nest, the call of loons across the lake, the gorgeous sunsets, the slower pace of life. Do yourself a favor and book this wonderful cabin. You won't regret it.

  • We stayed here for 5 days and had a great time. The location is close to town, but isolated enough so you don’t feel like you’re packed in close to others. The neighbor across the street, Kevin I think his name is, was very nice and welcoming and gave great tips on where to go and places to see. Amy’s responses were fast and professional. She even let us bring my husky mix!

  • Loon Shores is a wonderful place to spend time enjoying the magical beauty of Sebec Lake. It is clean and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout. We found almost everything we needed in the well-stocked kitchen and laundry. The space accommodated our group of five adults and two children splendidly, and the dock worked great with our boat (and visitors' boats). Swimming, boating, kayaking, and fishing are excellent. And the hosts are fantastic! We are already hoping to go back.

This cozy log cabin, fronting a scenic waterfall on the outskirts of civilization, offers swimming holes, hiking trails, mountain climbing, whitewater rafting & kayaking, fishing and quiet solitude - all without sacrificing the comforts of home.
Overlooks a scenic waterfall & swimming hole in its 'back yard'!
Let the music of rushing whitewater and the solitude of Maine's 100-Mile Wilderness lull you into a week-long daydream in this cozy housekeeping cabin on the banks of picturesque Big Wilson Stream. Your very own 2,500-foot stretch of river tumbles over a stepped waterfall, ambles in a deep pool fit for a summertime swim, and carves its way through a field of polished slate. Nestled into 25 acres of stately dogwood, white pine, poplar and maple, this north woods retreat offers a gallery-perfect setting for your family vacation, accommodating 6-8 guests comfortably. A private picnic area, complete with picnic table, pole-mounted charcoal barbecue, fire ring, and Adirondack chairs, lends a park-like atmosphere to your outings, without having to venture further than your own back yard. The adventurous among you can make daily treks to Borestone Mountain, Little Wilson Stream's upper and lower falls, and Big Wilson Cliffs, all within 2.5 miles of home base. You'll cross paths with Appalachian Trail hikers coming down from Mount Katahdin and through the Gulf Hagas, Maine's answer to the Grand Canyon. Little Greenwood Pond and larger Lake Onawa beckon to the east, with miles of wilderness shoreline to explore by boat. Or, commune with the river itself, paddling or packing to nearby landmarks like Tobey Falls, Salmon Hole, and the suspension bridge underpass in Willimantic. Back at camp, barbecue your meals on the oversized deck, overlooking the river, or retire indoors to a country kitchen / great room with a hearth & wood stove, soaring ceilings, and 180-degree views of the gently sloping north woods. By night, snuggle down into one of the two main-floor bedrooms, or the sleeping loft, and let the river sing you a lullaby, unaccompanied by the noises of civilization. For an occasional fix of north woods hospitality or to restock your provisions, there are eateries and camp stores in nearby Monson (8 miles, via winding Elliotsville Road) and Greenville (15 miles north of Monson on Route 6/15). Keep an eye out along the way, especially passing by boggy areas. You are in Moose Country! Tricia & Eric Schult info@bigwilsoncamp.com 563-209-0391

  • Brenda went above and beyond to make sure our stay went as smooth as possible. The place itself was amazing (as expected) and we really appreciated her responsiveness. We felt comfortable knowing she was there for anything we might need. All in all, a great trip and a great AirBnB. Thank you!

  • Brenda's place was just what we were looking for on our recent weekend away in central Maine. Very clean and cozy. Brenda's design sense means there are thoughtful (and creative) touches throughout the place. And it was nice and warm, even during a cold weekend. We were lucky enough to meet Brenda and her partner, and they provided some great suggestions for places in the area to check out. We'd love to come back in the summer to further explore the property (and surrounding area)!

  • Beautiful home in lovely Dover - Foxcroft. Beautifully decorated with unique furniture and elegant style. Sparkling clean and when we had a slight issue with the trundle bed, our hosts were there within 5 minutes to help us fix the issue. Thanks so much for an awesome stay and we will be back!

    Denise2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was absolutely amazing, every room was extremely unique from the next and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The town of Dover-Foxcroft is very charming and it was a perfect long weekend getaway. Although we didn’t get to meet Brenda, we did meet her husband rob and he was so welcoming and informative about how they have renovated the space. The grounds are just as gorgeous as the inside of the home. The thought and detail that has gone into this home is absolutely unbelievable. One of the best Airbnb experiences we have ever had and we will most definitely be coming back!

Beautiful Historic Maine canoe shop built in 1900, and newly renovated! Open loft with king tempurpedic bed and antique soaking tub overlooks the downstairs and out second story windows. Walk down the floating staircase to front and back doors which open up to beautiful grounds and large granite fire pit. Sink into the extra long vintage velvet sofa and watch TV, or dine under the large crystal chandelier.
The space is beautiful, light and airy. Very romantic. The upstairs loft is open with king size bed, vintage soaking tub, lavatory and toilet. The loft curtain closes for privacy. Downstairs is a day bed/trundle bed that sleeps two (2 separate beds). Since this is an open area, it's best suited to one person or a couple, although there are extra beds in the event a group doesn't mind the space. Children can be allowed but we need to talk first since it's got a floating staircase and loft.
We are located on the edge of town. You feel you are in the country, yet its a 2 minute ride to the market, restaurants, pubs and Dunkin' Donut for your morning coffee! Just footsteps from the trails for hiking/biking/snowmobiling. Sparkling Sebec Lake is just a few minutes away. Rent a boat for the day and enjoy this 12-mile pristine lake.

  • The house and land are absolutely beautiful. The house is fully stocked with extra pillows, blankets, plenty of clean towels. Wifi was good. Travis was easy to get in touch with and check-in was a breeze. The location is a good distance from stores so plan accordingly. We loved the privacy and seclusion. We were visited daily by a group turkey. We walked on the trails and sat by the pond with our coffee. I would love to rent this house for the whole month of October.

Named “Peace be with you” by one of our guests, this is a wonderful place to disconnect and refresh while enjoying the sounds of Loons. Swimming, boating, windsurfing, water-skiing, tubing, sunning, hot-tubbing, fishing, or simply cruising around the lake exploring all it has to offer. October holds some of the most beautiful foliage outside of the white mountains and November is a hunter's paradise.
The interior of the home is simply beautiful. Most of the interior was custom built in knotty pine and the hardwood maple floors simply light up the home. There is an open and airy loft overlooking the living room with huge glass windows overlooking the deck and lake. The finished basement holds the fourth bedroom and has sliders directly facing the lake. The fully-equipped kitchen is available for your home cooked meals. A washer and dryer are also provided. The first floor master bath is full sized and the upstairs bath is a 3/4 bath. The home has approximately 2600 square feet of living space. There is a full-size soft and fluffy futon in the loft, so if you are the kind of person who likes to wake up to an expansive view of a pristine Maine lake, then you will want to claim that as your bed!
The home is located on Great Moose Lake's huge northeast cove, providing easy access to the main body of water but not as busy to boating traffic. Located just over three hours north of Boston, this home is ideally situated for spring, summer and autumn vacations. There is 125 feet of very private rocky/sandy frontage on the lake with a 25 foot dock to access the water from. The frontage itself is deep water with a small sandy access area for smaller kids and deep-water from the end of the dock. There is a public boat launch available. On Great Moose Lake, you will enjoy swimming, boating, windsurfing, water-skiing, tubing, sunning, fishing, or simply cruising around the lake exploring all this lake has to offer. There is a floating dock, the perfect place to spend a lazy summer day soaking up the sun. Also on sight is a 6 man outdoor hot tub. Fishing is open year round and you can expect to catch Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Perch, Chain Pickerel, Cusk, Salmon, Brown Bullhead and Brookies in the tributaries. For the autumn vacationers, October holds some of the most beautiful foliage outside of the white mountains you'll ever see and November on Great Moose Lake is a hunter's paradise. There have been several good sized bucks taken over the years by the hunters who have stayed at the house. Nearby you will find restaurants and golf courses, as well as a guide service which will cater to your needs, be it fishing, photography or simply exploring. If you love good micro-brewed beer, be sure to ask about the Oak Pond breweries tour.
  • You can't beat this location, the lake is so quiet especially for its size, so much fun to explore. The house itself is exceptional, plenty of room for all 9 of us. The kids had lots of fun swimming and kayaking in the lake. There was also lots of games and blow up rafts to use, which was a nice surprise. Thank you for letting us stay in your home, we had such a fun and relaxing week.

  • The lake house is the perfect place to spend time with friends and family and disconnect from the outside world. Calm and serene, it was everything we wanted from this trip. We loved grilling out every night, and my brother-in-law was ecstatic about the fishing. If you’re considering staying here, do it!

  • We had a wonderful time at Jim and Zainab's cottage. Communication with the hosts and a local caretaker was great. The house is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The deck is great, with wonderful views, very comfortable furniture, and a great grill. The house comes with kayaks and life vests, a swim platform, and a nice selection of board games. The kitchen is fully functional (although more plates would be helpful). The beds are comfortable (although some of the bedrooms are small) and have air conditioners. The owners are undertaking renovations that will update the house and make it even better. We had lunch at Nettie's a couple of times, and groceries are about a 30 minute drive away. My family came away with memories of evening games in the gazebo watching lightening bugs, kayaking around the lake and exploring the islands, epic Xbox championships, lounging on the swim platform, and cooking over the bonfire. I highly recommend this property for family vacations, and we hope to return there.

Sweet, petite, and charming…. If you are feeling nostalgic, this former maid’s room at The Brewster Inn is the perfect accommodation for you. Retaining much of its original detail and woodwork, The Brittany exudes historic charm. Cozy up in the queen-size bed and relax while watching a movie on TV. Freshen up at the pedestal sink in the main room. The stand-up shower and water closet are accommodated by two additional smaller rooms.
Dexter is a small town located in the geographic center of Maine, just a 45 min drive to Bangor, and 50 min to the nearest coast or Moosehead Lake region. Lake Wassokeag is within easy walking distance of the Inn. There is an interconnecting trail system (ITS 85) within 300ft from our front door, it is great for walking, atv riding and snowmobiling. The trails go as far north as the Moosehead lake region and Canada. With the Brewster Inn as your base there is so much you can do in Maine from here, such as: white water rafting, hiking, moose watching, wilderness tours, kayaking, snowmobiling, atv riding, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, ice fishing, winery tours, antiquing. Even the sights and sounds of the author Stephen King's books and film locations (including 3 that are within 15 minutes of the Inn, and his home is 45 min away).
  • Great stay, very nice bed and breakfast! Would definitely go back.

  • Beautiful house from the 1800's with lovely common sitting area with big windows. Mark and Tina have a great eye for detail and take very good care of their home. Delicious breakfasts were served in communal room looking out to the back gardens. I'd recommend their B&B to anyone for an experience of comfort and being well taken care of.

  • We had a great stay with Mark and Tina. Our room was spotlessly clean and any amenity we needed was accounted for. Breakfast is served daily and includes a different hot dish every day - not just breads and cold cereal (though they have that too!) The B&B has a lot of history and I enjoyed reading about it in the binder provided in the room. Mark communicated in advance to ensure we had a smooth check in. Highly recommend!

Quiet cozy country cottage on Big Indian Lake. The cottage is located on an island connected by a causeway. There are 17 other homes on the island. This is a perfect area for fishing, boating, swimming or just sitting in the adirondack chairs watching the loons and taking in the sounds of nature.
Quiet cozy country cottage on Big Indian Lake. The cottage is located on an island connected by a causeway. There are 17 other homes on the island. This is a perfect area for fishing, boating, swimming and all water-sports, not to mention the haunting sounds of loons. The small main house has 1 bedroom, a sleeper sofa and futon and sleeps six people. The bunk house has a bunk bed ( 1 twin and 1 full) and a sleeper sofa and sleeps 5. The cottage has a full kitchen includes all you would need for dining in. Also included are: cable TV, Internet and Wi-fi, DVD player, grill, towels, sheets, pillows, etc. Very clean and neat.
It is generally a quiet place where our neighbors are friendly and the lake is lovely. It is also very pet friendly but dogs must be on a leash when walking around the island.
  • Beautiful location. Had an incredible time with friends right on the water.

  • Beautiful spot, quiet spot on the lake. The main cabin has everything you need from coffee maker, to kayaks, fire pit & plenty of space to lounge around inside or outside. Really nice spot! Very clean, well decorated with cute decor throughout.

  • Wow. Where do I start? Elaine was a wonderful host. You can tell that she put her heart and soul into the property. We’ve stayed at other cottages in the past, but this one, by far, was our favorite. There was plenty of space for our family of eight and two dogs to enjoy. Between the main house and the bunkhouse, everyone slept comfortably. You only need to bring your clothes, toiletries, and food. Everything else is at your disposal. We never needed to leave the island for our five day trip. There is free wifi and cable TV that we never used because there was always something to do. We spent our time swimming, kayaking, using the paddle boat, and hanging out by the fire pit. We also enjoyed hanging out on the dock and swimming out to the floating dock. The scenery was breathtaking and the atmosphere was very tranquil. The neighbors are very friendly and always waved when we were kayaking or walking our dogs. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away from it all for a while.

An original Maine camp built in 1942 has been completely remodeled and is now available for your quiet getaway. Four acres of land ensures your privacy and leave you feeling like you're at one with nature. Perched a mere 20 feet from the lake, you can watch the sun come up in the morning while having coffee on the deck and listen to the loons lull you to sleep each evening.
In Hartland, Maine, on the 3856 acre Great Moose Lake, the camp is surrounded by natural beauty in an area that is primarily undeveloped, providing a peaceful retreat and the opportunity to reconnect with nature. Our cottage is on the northeast cove, granting easy access to the main lake and is not congested with boat traffic. Just over three hours from Boston, the camp is a spectacular place to visit from spring through fall. It sits on 4 acres of land with 420 feet of waterfront and a dock for fishing, boating, and swimming. On site are two kayaks, a canoe, and row boat for your use. Fishing is open year-round and the successful angler can catch brown trout, large- and small-mouth bass, perch, and catfish. In the fall, the foliage is spectacular and Great Moose Lake is a quiet paradise in which to enjoy the autumn colors and wildlife. The camp has been completely remodeled with knotty pine throughout, area rugs, and brand new furniture. With two levels, the main floor is open and consists of a living room (right on the lake) as well as a kitchen and dining area. A breakfast bar provides additional seating and new appliances give the camp a comfortable finished feel. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, washer, and dryer. The upstairs loft is also finished with knotty pine, wall-to-wall carpeting, and has two beds, a queen and a double. The local area is a beautiful country setting that consists of a few restaurants, golf courses, and even a local guide service that can assist you in pursuit of your outdoor passions. In the nearby town of Skowhegan, Bigelow Brewing Company is a favorite local hangout that offers delicious wood-fired brick oven pizza and an array of craft beers. Oak Pond Brewery is another great place for the beer enthusiast and is also nearby. If you’re looking for an adventure, Acadia National Park is less than two hours away. Housekeeping is the responsibility of the renter. Upon arrival, you will find the camp clean, with sheets and pillow cases in a container on each bed and towels and facecloths in the bathroom cabinets. Each tenant is expected to leave camp as clean (or cleaner!) as they found it.

  • On our business trip to the area we had a great stay in this charming camp set among the trees yet close to town. It was quite comfortable and quiet. The hosts were very communicative. We'd recommend a stay while if ever in this part of Maine.

  • Perfect house! Everything is prefect! The best experience I have. I will come back again if I had a chance.

    Chengyu2018-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time at the cottage. It was great to have Sherry and Darius as hosts, it was such a comfort and convenience to have hosts just down the road in case we needed anything during our stay, and they were always super quick to respond if we ever had any questions. It was lovely to see Dover in the fall again, the area surrounding has some breathtaking views. While we have spent most of our time in the area during winter months, the area is expounded with adventures all year. The house is beautifully decorated, with two well sized bedrooms, one quite spacious and roomy. The TV was great, with channel offerings of local and a ton of other channels. There is a nice sized yard, with a fire pit, plenty of firewood, and a lovely sitting area, they thought of everything. If you want a GREAT place to stay in the heart of Maine, book this place! Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage.

  • This was our first experience using AIRBNB and boy was it better than I thought it would be! I was a little upset that the first day it was raining, we would have to stay inside, but seeing inside, I honestly enjoyed doing nothing (after driving for about 12 hours all together). When it wasn't raining, we spent some time outside, nice n cozy next to the fire. This place is in a great location! Meaning, its far enough away from everything, and not so far that you can go to town! I highly recommend staying, and if me and my girlfriend are in the area again, I'm hoping to book here again!

  • This house was everything we expected and more. Ida is a great host. The house was very clean and updated and had plenty of games and entertainment. It was perfect for our large group because of the amount of space we had. Ida responded very quickly to every one of our messages and was always helpful answering our questions and giving us recommendations. Definitely would recommend this house to anyone with a family or a large group.

    Dalton2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • You will definitely get more than you expected. We spent new year day at this place and enjoyed every moment of it.

    Rashid2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely and perfect home for a large group to stay comfortably, but have a common area and feel cozy. It is definitely off the beaten path and with a steep drive in, so in the winter four wheel drive is best (one of our cars didn’t make it out on first few tries and required us going into town for a bit of rock salt - all the four wheel drive cars got out just fine though with no problem). For getting there, you WILL lose cell service and it’s a little further than google maps tells you it is. There are no house numbers, etc., so definitely print out the map with directions that Ida provides. The lodge itself is immaculately clean, well stocked with everything you could need, with an adorable cozy feel. Though there are bunk beds in the photos, those are actually extra im the basement and not counted in the bed count in the description (which was great because a couple of our group were prepared to do bunk beds and excited they were all full bedrooms upstairs!). There are three full bathrooms on each floor which also made showering with a large group easy. There is one central common area with a tv and pellet stove which is very warm and cozy. I love that this lodge was so dog friendly and my pup was ever so ecstatic to have his own log dog bed! The bathrooms all have extra amenities you would ever need - shampoos, soaps, first aid supplies, etc., as well as many appliances and cookware and cooking staples in the kitchen. There was even fresh milk in the fridge (which is massive along with a freezer that can easily sustain large groups). In case of snow, there was only one plastic shovel we found so I might recommend bringing your own if there is a storm forecasted (the road was plowed, but we shoveled the front steps, etc.). Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of this lodge. It is the perfect getaway out in nature and a wonderful homey feel. Would love to come back in the summer and enjoy the lake!

    Debbie2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place our family loved it. Even with the cold and wet weather, our kids had a great time. Ida had old school board games, and a great recreational room. The Lodge is just secluded enough to give that deep woods atmosphere with all of the comforts of home. There is plenty of bed space and a big kitchen with big appliances for large groups. The Lodge was everything as advertised, and much more. Thank You, Ida
