  • We had an absolutely fantastic time at the cabin. It was very easy to find and Janine was so friendly and welcoming as soon as we arrived. Her cottage is close enough if we needed anything, however she very much left us to our own devices. We took a particular liking to Gloria, Janine's deaf fluffy black cat who kept us company for most of our visit! The photographs really don't do the cabin or the surrounding scenery justice, it's absolutely breath taking, and one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept it! The fairy lights, fire pit, welsh cakes and hot water in a freestanding bath round the back were particularly lovely touches! I will definitely be visiting again and recommending to all my friends. Thank you Janine and see you again soon! Rebecca x

  • My partner and I stayed at the cabin for 2 night in February. To start at the beginning. The directions made it easy to find. On arrival Janine showed us round and made us very welcome. It was a particularly cold and wet weekend however we couldn't have been supplied with any more blankets. It was made clear if we needed anything else we were more than welcome to knock at the cottage. We wanted a weekend away from society and that is exactly what we got; and to make the stay even better there was a tin of lovely Welsh Cakes waiting for us.

  • Peaceful and relaxing stay. Janine was a welcoming host and I would highly recommend this place. Lovely part of Wales.

  • We had a great time at the cabin in the woods! Beautiful location, with plenty of walks and mountain biking to do nearby. Only downside is the cabin a little cold at night time, but Janine had provided plenty of blankets. Also the cats were delightful company!

  • Great little peaceful cabin in lovely countryside. Fire pit, BBQ, wild swimming, comfy bed. Perfect little getaway.

  • We had a great night amongst the trees in Janine's cabin. We really enjoyed ourselves and it's a really picturesque location. Thanks Janine!

  • We stayed in the cabin for four nights and loved it! Janine was really welcoming and friendly, she gave us good advice on what to do in the local area, and she was accommodating and helpful. The cabin was well equipped and in an incredible location. Highly recommend.

  • We had a excellent weekend in the cabin. The views on the walks we took our dogs on were stunning. The cabin is really nice and cozy. The little touches is what made it extra special for us. The welsh cakes were very tasty. Janine was very welcoming. We will defiantly be going back next year

  • Ebony was a great host. She was very helpful and friendly. The place was absolutely beautiful and scenic with surrounding hills and a close by stream. The caravan was big enough for 6 of us. It had all the amenities for a comfortable stay . There was lot of indoor games for the kids. Ebony was so generous to let my kids play in the outdoor play ground. I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a peaceful homely holiday home.

Open plan cottage with a log burner and an Indian touch. There is also full central heating and Wi Fi. Lovely sunny south facing terrace and three acres of gardens and woods to wander in. Walking and cycling from your front door and a secluded woodland pool in the river Irfon for wild swimming. Quiet and secluded and protected for its wildlife yet only a few minutes away from the vibrant town of LLanwrtyd Wells with restaurants, good pubs and regular wierd events. Sauna. Pets welcome
You will be staying in an area of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which means that we have a lot of wildlife - especially birds. Woodpecker Cottage should have everything you need including a fully equipped kitchen, microwave etc.
Woodpecker Cottage is on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains. It is surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. There are no other houses nearby apart from our other cottages and our house. Its a great area for walking and cycling (and just sitting on the terrace watching the wildlife). You can walk straight out of your door into the hills.
  • Great place for chill out - lovely accommodation, well equipped, wifi etc. and amazing garden & walks.

  • This cottage is just amazing. A real gem. It is located in a beautiful valley with lovely surroundings to walk, drive and bicycle to. We stayed almost a week with two adults and a baby and the cottage was more than spacious enough and also very good equiped with all the kitchenware you need, a good bed, bath and even inhouse slippers. We loved it, realy a home away from home

    Natasja2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely lodge with plenty of space for a couple (and a young baby!). It was bigger than we had expected it to be. Fantastic area if you're looking for a peaceful stay in the countryside with great walks. Very clean and well kitted out. Highly recommend for a getaway from the busy life!

    Oliver2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautifully presented, with the bedroom and living space all in one large open-plan space. This suited me perfectly; the double bed was incrdibly comfy, and the sofa is a futon-style that could be converted to additonal sleeping space easily The location is idyllic, the view from any one of the windows was like something from a postcard. Karin was lovely throughout, and even gave me some cake for the journey on depature Would definitely recommend, one of the best value places i've ever stayed!

‘Gwedd y Glyn’ is a beautifully and sympathetically restored traditional stone barn with a wealth of oak beams and many contemporary touches. This luxury holiday home, which can sleep up to ten adults, is a restored traditional Welsh barn originally built from local stone and oak. This spacious accommodation is beautifully presented, stylishly furnished and completed to a very high standard.
  • I booked Gwedd Y Glyn for a group of 10 to stay on a Friday/Saturday in September for a university reunion. The cottage was absolutely perfect for a countryside retreat in a peaceful location. The lounge, kitchen and bedrooms are all incredibly spacious and much bigger than the photos suggest. All rooms are of an exceptionally high quality including the bathrooms and en suites and the modern kitchen is well stocked in terms of plates, glasses and utensils for self catering. The town is approximately 20 minutes away through country lanes which made for a pleasant walk. All in all, I wish we could have stayed longer and we'll certainly be looking to book here again for our next reunion.

  • We were so lucky to find this place! What a gem! We were a party of 10 people coming from North America for a family gathering. We arrived to the place to find wonderful and welcoming hosts Sue and Iwan. When we saw the rooms we were astounded; They were nothing like the photos; They are big, spacious, and bright with beautiful furniture and exposed beams. Two rooms have en-suits and there are additional 2 other big bathroom. So we had no problems with queuing in the morning... The house was immaculate, the beddings fresh and comfy. The hosue is tastefully decorated and gives a country feel together with all the comfort and all amenities needed. The kitchen is very well equipped. There is huge dinning table to accommodate all the guests. Everything we needed from explanations about the area to additional things were provided immediately. And - I forgot to mention the scenery - the beautiful valley in front of the house. It was a pleasure to be there. We will definitely come back. Thanks so much Iwan and Sue.

Troed-y-Rhiw in Welsh means foot of the hill. The cottage is located in the beautiful Irfon Valley. Suitable for families, couples, individuals to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay in a well equipped cottage. Stunning walks straight from the front door. One mile outside of Llanwrtyd Wells, Britain's Smallest Town.
Llanwrtyd is an old Welsh hamlet with a 12th century Church. Once an area for not only sheep farming but prospecting, lead and zinc deposits of quite high grade were found. Forests were planted in the 1950 and now provide wood for the building industry. One mile from the hamlet is Britain's smallest town, Llanwrtyd Wells, the Victorian Spa destination, it has shops, pubs, restaurants, a garage. Llanwrtyd Wells hosts the World Bog Snorkelling Championships each August and many other challenging events over the year. The area is fantastic for walking and mountain/road biking. Mid wales has a fantastic collection of Castles to visit and even a gold mine!
  • Really lovely, warm and homely - highly recommended!

Without electricity, Dolgoch Hostel is in a gloriously isolated position in The Cambrian Mountains in mid-Wales near Tregaron. Owned by Elenydd Wilderness Hostels, it is basic accommodation in a former farmhouse and sleeps 20. A warden is resident, but only shares the kitchen with guests. Enquire about accommodation for wheelchair users.
Dolgoch is ideal for walkers, cyclists, dark skies enthusiasts (we have Dark Skies status) and for anyone else who wants to escape the pressures of modern life. There is no electricity - solar panels heat the water and LED provides some lighting. In mid-winter, water is restricted to the kitchen and a stand pipe outside to avoid frozen pipes. Nearest shop and pub are approx 10 miles.
Mountainous area north of Brecon Beacons and south of Snowdonia so not touristy, but equally stunning! A secret area we want to share with you!
  • Lovely place to get away from absolutely everything and back to basics.

  • We stayed here as a group of women for a celebration. It is a truly beautiful spot and we loved the simplicity, charm and honesty of this old-fashioned style of hostel. It is off-grid (no mains electricity) but for us this added to the charm and the sense of escape from the world. The kitchen and living space are well equipped with long tables that were perfect for banqueting, and a cosy wood burner. The bunkrooms are basic but comfortable. The volunteer wardens were very friendly and helpful but mostly we had the place to ourselves, which was great for us. This is a perfect get away for people who love the outdoors, simple living and want to escape. Thanks very much for making our celebration so lovely. Mary

  • Great place to spend the weekend with 13 children, we all got used to having no electricity after a while. The sun didn't shine so much so we didn't have much hot water for showers but as we was only there a weekend it wasn't really a problem. Many thanks for a great weekend . Best wishes Amy

  • June was a lovely host and made us feel welcome as soon as we had stepped through the door. The room was fresh and comfortable with an en-suite and a brilliant shower. There was also a living room and seating area downstairs to relax in and read. The location was so peaceful and only a 2-min walk from the centre of the Town or an even quicker walk into the countryside. Fantastic and somewhere I would certainly recommend and visit again.

I travelled to Llanwrtyd Wells to compete in the infamous Man v Horse and staying in this B&B helped make the experience one I want to repeat in 2016!

The cottage has been tastefully refurbished to give you a cosy rural retreat with all the modern conveniences you need. Only a few minutes from the village of Llangammarch Wells, you can walk to the local pub, post office/shop and the beautiful river Irfon.
Mid Wales gives you everything from majestic mountains and ancient monuments to extreme sports. Llangammarch Wells is a village in the parish of Irfon Valley in Powys, mid Wales, within the historic County of Brecnockshire. The village is on the Heart of Wales train line, which connects this idyllic hide away to the rest of the world and it lies on Route 43 of the National Cycle Network. It is the smallest of the spa towns of mid Wales, alongside Llanwrtyd Wells, Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells. The spa was focused on a barium well, which is now closed, but the village is still popular with visitors and anglers. It was also famed for the horse fairs that were held here. The old village is centred around the parish church of St Cadmarch. There are two hotels, one houses the local pub and restaurant, a Post Office/village shop, St Cadmarch’s church and the Nazareth Methodist Chapel. Nestled in the foothills of Mynydd Epynt, Llangammarch Wells is a very rural community. The land around is largely moorland or agricultural, the latter used for livestock farming. It is close to the Epynt Way, a fantastic resource for walkers, cyclists and riders with its waymarked routes and stunning scenery, and is 8 miles from Builth Wells, the home of the Royal Welsh Show.

  • Stayed here when my son dragged me walking in Brecon area. Not to far to travel but it was an ideal place to stay. Every thing you might want for your stay is right there. Nice touch having a few cleaning bits and pieces. Would defiantly go again.

  • We had a lovely, relaxing short break in this cosy cottage. Maggie has thought of everything! It's very well equipped, immaculately clean and comfy. It felt so peaceful which is just what we were looking for. It's in a quiet lane a short walk from the village in a beautiful part of Wales. We loved it and its great value too. Thank you Maggie for making our booking so easy. Highly recommended. Trudie, Peter and Daisy Dog.

  • What a lovely cottage to stay in. It had everything you wanted and was a good place to tour from. Maggie was so helpful with things to do and places to eat. Would highly recommend.

    ken2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • A true gem - Maggie's place is clean, cosy, and well thought-through. Kitchen and bathroom are modern and clean and the cottage has got everything you might need (walking routes, maps, games, toys for the little people, even plug-covers), or else Maggie will help you within no-time. Can definitely recommend for those who are looking for some peace and quiet in one of the prettiest areas of wales.

Tyncornel is a great little hostel in splendid Cambrian mountain scenery, at the head of the beautiful Doethie valley. There is excellent walking and cycling right from the front door: green rolling mountains, narrow twisting valleys that provide an ever-changing view . You may walk all day without meeting anyone. The hostel has plenty of character. It's the most isolated hostel in Wales, and it provides a simple but comfortable welcome - see the photos!
It's a former Victorian farmhouse with stone walls and tile floors. Sleeping is in single-sex dormitories. Bedding is provided.
Cambrian Mountain terrain for walking and cycling right from the door. Rolling hills, and the beautiful Doethie valley. Tyncornel is on the Cambrian Way path. Market towns: Lampeter 15 miles, Tregaron 12 miles.
  • What a charming place with everything you need. This definitely a place I will go again perhaps with friends or family. Cecilia is a lovely warden.

Gorswen Cottage is a wonderful, cosy cottage in a remote valley in Mid-Wales. It is available for guests for bed and breakfast, and would suit walkers and wildlife enthusiasts who would like to get away from it all and enjoy the stunning countryside. We are off grid and although we enjoy all the usual amenities we do have the option of turning wifi off if desired for those people who suffer from EHS. As we are quite remote and there are no other wifi users nearby this may be of help.
The stone cottage built in 1867 is set in a beautiful valley with panoramic views. It is off the beaten track and off the grid. Magnificent scenery on the doorstep, perfect for walking and with an abundance of wildlife all around.
The cottage is surrounded by farmland and open countryside. It is in the middle of a valley with stunning views to the Brecon Beacons and Black mountains from the hilltops. There is open moorland on the doorstep with 17,500 acres of National Trust land to explore! Sheep, horses and an abundance of wildlife surround the cottage including Philip the Pheasant and Felicity the Fox. The nearest pub is the Red Lion in Llanafan Fawr which is a 10 minute drive. Other nearby attractions include Elan Valley, The Living Willow Theatre, Gigrin Kite Feeding Centre, The Royal Welsh Show, Llanwrtyd Wells bog snorkelling and the Hay Festival.
  • Words are hardly fitting to describe this magical place. I could write at length about how clean and tidy the room is. Or how comfortable the bed is. How forthcoming and charming our host is. Or how exquisit the breakfast was. Even describing the setting will not do it justice. Instead I will describe what I saw looking out of the bathroom window this morning: The sun was just creaping over the hill. Birds where singing in the bushes nearby and in the distance I heard a phesant shouting. Rabits where hopping around our car in the driveway and sheep where looking for the provabial greener grass. A horse was peaking over the fence. And I thought: What a shame we had to leave. The fact that the house is completly off grid is hardly apparent. All comforts are provided! It is refreshing and an eyeopener to be reminded that not everything we are used to should be taken for granted. We loved it!

    Mark2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I almost don't want to describe how peaceful Chaya's home is for fear of hordes of visitors descending! There's no doubt that this is the most remote place I've stayed, a veritable walker's paradise with paths from the door in every direction, and the amazing sight of kites wheeling overhead. Chaya was the best hostess, nothing was too much trouble and the space was cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. You're essentially getting half a house when you stay and I feel like I arrived as a stranger, but left as a friend.

Stylish yet cosy cabin for two in one of Wales' most beautiful and unspoilt corners. Double bed plus window seat which converts to additional child bed. Private garden + access to 2.5 acre garden with trees, ponds and stream. The nearby wood fired hot tub is the perfect place to soak up the views or stargaze at night! The sheltered verandah lets you enjoy the stunning views in any weather.
The Cabin is surrounded by breathtaking and unspoilt scenery including mountains, forests, rivers, streams and waterfalls. Even without leaving the Cabin, its large windows make you feel immersed in the glorious countryside. Our local pub the Towy Bridge Inn is a 5 minute walk. Julie, Nick and Andrew will give you a great welcome!
The Upper Towy Valley is an unspoilt and relatively undiscovered paradise! We are blessed with mountains, rivers and streams on our doorstep - easily accessed on foot or mountain bike. In fact the famous Cwm Rhaeadr mountain bike trail is only minutes from the property.

Little Pudding Cottage is a beautiful example of the classic country hideaway. Nestled in the Welsh countryside, just into the Cambrian Mountains, it enjoys the splendour of nature and peaceful calm of times past. The accommodation is full of character and original charm, while maintaining the modern comforts of home. With its own garden, this former shepherd's cottage is surrounded by rugged hills and an unspoilt rural landscape at the very end of a single-track road. The perfect rural retreat!
The detached cottage is very remote and you really do feel like you are getting away from it all. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep where you are very unlikely to meet another person. The conservatory gives you spectacular views whatever the weather, whilst the summerhouse is the perfect place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
The cottage is surrounded by farmland and 17,500 acres of National Trust Moorland and so totally private and secluded.
  • We had a truly wonderful stay at Little Pudding Cottage. There is an amazing selection of wildlife on the doorstep and I even had Philip the resident pheasant eating out of my hand! We enjoyed plenty of time spent in the conservatory watching the kites overhead and even saw a Jay visit the garden. On our last night we ate at the Red Lion, we were made to feel very welcome and filled up on some proper pub grub before heading back to snuggle up in the sofa with a bottle of bubbly and a film. Perfection. We will definitely recommend Little Pudding Cottage to all our friends and family.

    Gerwyn2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous 'away from it all' cottage in beautiful and secluded rural mid Wales. The cottage is cosy, well equipped and enjoys glorious views of the surrounding countryside. It will take you 10 mins down a single track road to get to the cottage but it's worth it! So lovely not to hear the hum of traffic all day. Great walks straight from the door. Bring everything you need with you and enjoy being off grid for a few days! Jon is a really helpful and friendly host - and the instructions and info provided were meticulous! A gem.

    Mark2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was exactly as described, and more. The conservatory looks out onto gorgeous views and we enjoyed watching the farmers herd the sheep, red kites fly past, and delighted in feeding Phil the Pheasant by hand! He came to visit multiple times a day. The skies were clear in the evenings and so we were able to lie outside and see so many stars!!!! Just beautiful. The cottage is stocked with so many bits and pieces (oil, spices, cutlery, chopping boards) in the kitchen, board games in the living room, candles everywhere, torches in the drawers. My five year old loved the swing in the garden! Really thorough instructions were left by Jon, so everything worked out really well. We would definitely come back and visit again. Ideal for peace, quiet (as long as you don't mind the sound of sheep :)) and beautiful views of the mountains.

  • An amazing place. Made my 40th so special. Wanted to stay longer. We will be booking again. Thank you Jon

    George2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is quite lovely. There is no phone signal and internet facilities are negligible, which is perfect! The situation is absolutely stunning. The immensity of the valley dwarfs the place and is very humbling. We had a lovely walk in the sun, rain, hail and wind and went for miles without seeing another living soul (apart from a few sheep..) Shops, pubs etc whilst drivable are miles away, but that is not the point of this place. I struggle to imagine a more peaceful setting.

    Samuel2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Air BnB and if Jon and his property are an example of the host communication and quality of accommodation, I won't be using anywhere else!! Excellent, clear information in advance of our stay and an absolute gem of a cottage when we arrived. You can tell it's a labour of love, no stone is unturned and Jon has thought of everything. Loved the beautiful surroundings and cosy accommodation and it was some of the best nights sleep I'd ever had. I've never said with such confidence that I will book somewhere again!!

    Katherine2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection. Jon sent us a welcome pack with thorough information on the cottage and surrounding towns. The feeling of isolation and being in the wilderness was up there with our best experience in the UK. Highly recommend this cottage to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life! Thanks Jon

Troedrhiwgelynen is a beautiful stone farmhouse in the wild and untamed Cambrian mountains of mid Wales near the Brecon Beacons. Set in an RSPB bird reserve in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A luxurious award winning restoration of a magnificent stone farmhouse. Perfect! Ideal for walkers, bird watchers, mountain biking and generally getting away from it all in the most beautiful of surroundings. The house is spacious, extremely well equipped. Ideal for social gatherings and families.
Troedrhiwgelynen is a four bed roomed luxuriously converted farmhouse. Renovated to an incredibly high standard with all modern conveniences - roll top iron bath, walk in shower/wet room, jacuzzi. Perfect. The kitchen dinning area is very spacious so great for social gatherings. The living room has a huge inglenook fireplace with clearview woodburner and there is a well stocked log pile adjacent to the barn. The barn hosts an indoor table tennis, table football and basket ball hoop. There is a sizeable trampoline in the rick yard and a swing tyre in the orchard behind the house. Lots of space and all with beautiful views.
Troedrhiwgelynen is ideally located to explore the wild and remote Cambrian mountains and the Brecon Beacons - whether by foot, pony trekking (with two centres nearby) or mountain bikes (the Cwm Rhaeadr trail is spectacular). There are also two beautiful man made gardens - Aberglasney and the National Botanic Garden of Wales. The area abounds in interesting places to visit with the National Trust well represented with three properties: the 18th-century Welsh gentry estate of Llanerchaeron, the romantic Dinefwr park and castle, or our most local attraction - the Dolaucothi Roman gold mines. We are not alone in enjoying this beautiful area, Prince Charles' Welsh home, Llwynywermod, is nearby. The coast is not far away with the beautiful Nash sea side town of Aberaeron on the Ceredigion coast well worth a visit. Our farmhouse is situated within the RSPB's Gwenffrwd-Dinas RSPB reserve where the campaign to save the critically endangered red kite was centred. Visit the Red Kite Feeding Station at Llanddeusant to see how successful this has been. For rainy days there are plenty of choices: visit the largest showcave complex in Northern Europe at Dan-yr-Ogof or take a trip on the Heart of Wales Railway Line with its spectacular viaduct crossing at Cynghordy. Warm up with a visit to the Penderyn Distillery, the only one in Wales. Finally after some rain, make a trip up to the Llyn Brianne dam to admire the sight of water cascading down the spillway. There are a number of authentic Welsh country pubs in the area to while away the time infront of an open fire or in a beer garden with beautiful views. What we love most about the area is its tranquillity and beauty. When walking on the mountain or through the beautiful deciduous woods, you will not see another soul.
  • Staying here was by far the highlight of our trip. The accommodation and quality was second to none in the most picturesque and welcoming location. Hosts were communicative and helpful. Thank you so much!

  • Back from an amazing Easter bank holiday!! The cottage is set in beautiful unspoilt countryside with so many walks to go exploring right form the door, or just to watch and relax from the hammock in the garden. The cottage itself is beautiful and spacious – we had 8 people and there was plenty of room and space. Amazing large kitchen with everything you’d ever need in there, massive log burner, and a luxurious shower. Everything is of a high and really clean standard. Spring was a fabulous time to visit – with lambs running round, frog spottings, red kite sightings, warm sun! We really enjoyed finding the magical woods and river right by the cottage. Bags to explore from the front door, but if you’re staying longer then there are so many great places nearby. The owners were really helpful before our visit – giving great detailed information on walks, pubs (The Royal Oak was our favourite) and food shops. Can’t recommend this place and area enough and we can’t wait to come back!

  • Great house in an amazing location. Very rural and peaceful and the house is finished to an extremely high standard. Can't wait to come back!

  • Michael was a great host, he got in touch with me shortly after booking, and sent over various walking routes because he knew that was the purpose of our trip. The house is actually better than the pictures show, the beds were really comfortable, and the BBQ worked well. The house is well stocked with essentials, eg salt and pepper etc, and Michael left us some lovely bread, milk and scones for our arrival. If i were to note one downside (which if i'd looked at the house description better i would've seen this) it is that there is only one shower in the house, but that was the only downside i noted. There is a lovely wood burner in the lounge which is operational. Regarding the location, it is a remote house and it is very clearly sold as that and that's why we picked it, but any shopping should be done before arrival. I would definitely stay again, i couldn't fault Michael, and the house was lovely.

  • Perfect holiday cottage! John and Lucy had thought of everything. The property was immaculately clean, spacious and well equipped (the cake which was waiting for us on our arrival was delicious). Although the hot tub is shared between the five cottages you can book your two hour slot each day and have it to yourself...just perfect after a long day walking! The area is absolutely beautiful and tranquil with many walks and lovely places to visit. Thank you both for a most relaxing weekend. We have already recommended you to friends and family. We will be back!

  • Beautiful location for a stroll around. Very scenic. If you want to eat somewhere is has to be the Castle Pub in Llandovery. The food was incredible. The cottage was very spacious! Kitchen ample we even cooked a Sunday roast! We asked John and Lucy for a DVD player and with-in 5 mins of sending a message it appeared ! They were very attentive! Hot tub was a little too hot for us but again we were informed it was due to a new pump which has been looked at now. It was nice to sit in there and look at the sheep in the cold field! It was very quiet didn't hear anything from the other cottages either. Wifi great, TV signal great! Board games, books..!

  • We have just returned from a perfect two night stay at this gorgeous cottage. We didn't get to meet John but the instructions to get to the property were given well in advance. When we arrived at the cottage we were so impressed with this beautiful property which was really spacious with everything you could need for a weekend (or even a week) break. Immaculately presented and clean. The surrounding area is beautiful with Llandovery only a 10 minute drive where there is a supermarket, takeaways etc if you needed. Would definitely return!

  • I visited Gill's idyllic spot in the heart of the Welsh countryside for my 40th Birthday and had a fabulous and memorable stay. Gill was easy to communicate with before arrival and warm and friendly on greeting, gave us superb local knowledge and made us feel welcome and at home straight away. She was easily available by text throughout the stay and totally respected our privacy. The space was just as in the photos and the surroundings so peaceful and serene, as the name suggests with picture postcard scenery. I would totally recommend and would go back a second time. The only negative was feeling sad when we had to leave!

    Kartik2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Gill's place for my wife so I don't have a direct experience, but I was told to rate everything with 5 stars and add 3 extra for cleanliness :) The place and host were absolutely perfect in every possible aspect!

  • Thank you very much to Gill for sharing her piece od life that surronds her. Beautiful and quiet corner in which relaxed in such a short time from the stress of daily life and city' hustle and (URL HIDDEN) apartament was very charming and clean. Gill is very friendly open person. I hope we will back one day there!

  • We had the most amazing time in Gill's beautiful place. We felt welcome from the second we arrived and until we left a week later. We could not have asked for a better host, location or place. We especially loved putting the fire on every evening and having our morning coffee in the sun on the little balcony overlooking Gill's stunning garden (which we had access to too). Gill and her husband were on hand with tips and guidance when we needed it but were respectful of our privacy too. The perfect hosts! We can't recommend this place enough.

    Stine2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely LOVED our stay at Seren Loft! Gill & Pip gave us such a warm welcome, and their friendliness continued throughout our stay. The log fire, board games/puzzles & day bed nook as well as being able to sit on the veranda for breakfast were some of our favourite things about Seren Loft. Just want to thank Gill for recommending the Llyn Brianne Reservoir! We stopped there before we headed home & the views were breathtaking! Thank you both again, and hopefully we'll see you in the future when little one has arrived! Alex & Ryan, xoxo

  • I booked Gill's place as a birthday weekend for my Mum. Gill was so helpful from the start and nothing was too much trouble. My Mum advised that she was very lovely and made sure they had everything they needed. The apartment itself was very clean and lovely and they very much enjoyed the log burner! Thank you again Gill, I would definitely recommend!

    Emma2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Seren Loft after a long car journey all the way from Suffolk. Feeling very tired, we were greeted by a lovely friendly face who made us feel right at home straight away. Gill was very accommodating, she showed us our lovely Loft, asked if there was anything we needed and where we could help ourselves to kindling for the lovely wood burner (which really gives off some heat!) for cozy nights in. She also has local knowledge, so definitely ask her where is worth a visit - we weren't disappointed with her suggestions! The wifi is very strong, not that we used it because of our wonderful surroundings and walks. Sweet finishing touches like fairy lights and maps made us feel safe and relaxed. We are planning to return!

Luxurious ensuite bedroom set in our 19th century forester’s cottage. Two will sleep comfortably in the king size bed. We are set in the middle of a field beneath the wild and exciting Cambrian mountains. Walking, cycling, horse riding close by.
Built in the mid 1800s Rhedyn was originally a forester's cottage. We modernised it over a three year period and opened as a bed and breakfast in 2010. Throughout, our modern decoration is complimented by original artwork. From the Priest Closet there are great views in every direction. This double room was a regular holiday destination for Priests in a previous time, hence its name. The room has its own private entrance via French doors opening onto the driveway. We recently modernised the room, opening it up to reveal a vaulted ceiling showing the original beams. We added sensitive lighting on the wall behind the bed. The Priests Closet has views on two sides showing the surrounding fields and hills. Closer up, our bird table provides its own entertainment. It regularly feeds Nuthatches, robins, chaffinches, woodpeckers and the occasional shy Jay. The ensuite bathroom has a large double size shower, bordered on one side by a glass brick wall and a heated towel rail. The rear door leads to our guest lounge and dining room.
We are nestled in Irfon Valley between the rivers Wye and Irfon, and on the slopes of the wild and wonderful Cambrian Mountains. We are also a short drive from the beautiful Brecon Beacons. And just minutes from Builth Wells, an old market town and former spa town, and now host of the biggest agricultural show in Europe. Builth is always worth a visit for its unusual and quirky shops. Hay-on-Wye, the town of books - 30 mins Gigrin Farm (Red Kite feeding station) - 25 mins Brecon Town (Jazz Festival in August) - 30 mins
  • I stayed for two nights and everything was perfect. The location is beautiful. The room is exquisitely decorated, spotlessly clean and has a gorgeous en suite bathroom (complete with Conran toiletries). To top it off Muiread is an incredible cook. The evening meal was utterly delicious as was the breakfast complete with numerous homemade jams and chutneys. Both Muiread and Ciaran are wonderful hosts and I look forward to returning again soon. I thoroughly recommend a stay!

The farm house is a large four bedroom traditional farm house set in a secluded location between the Cambrian and Brecon Beacons mountain ranges, a few miles from Builth. The house is within over a hundred acres of farm land, with its own private garden; lawn, wild flower area, barbeque and terrace, and has stunning views across the valley to the South-West. The house is next to a quiet farm yard, with no neighbours for half a mile. If you love sitting under the stars then look no further!
The house sleeps eight people comfortably in three double bedrooms and one twin, with two en suite bathrooms, a main family bathroom, large open plan lounge-kitchen-diner with a cosy log fire (with all the wood you can burn included in the price), and secondary snug lounge. Ideal for walking, cycling, golfing, mountain biking, bird watching, star gazing, day trips and more importantly relaxing!
Fantastic views right on your doorstep. Night time views are also great if it's a cloudless night - spectacular star gazing.
  • Lovely place in a lovely location with a lovely owner. This is an excellent property for a up to 8 people to relax in as its in such a beautiful and convenient location. Located between the two national parks in Wales helped us plan our trip to both the national parks. Stephanie made every effort to make the whole process as easy as possible. Recommend this whole heartedly. Many thanks Stephanie.

My place is close to Mynydd Mallaen a mountain which is also common land owned by the Queen! You’ll love my place because of the peace and quiet, dark starry skies, the comfy beds and the sound of the river Gwenlais. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). Llwynhelyg is centrally heated with a solid fuel Rayburn (that heats water, and radiators as well as being a cooker) and a wood burner in the living room so you have to be prepared to light fires!
Llwynhelyg is furnished with a mixture of old Welsh antiques and some modern pieces. It has a cosy woodburner in the living room and a rayburn in the kitchen. There are lots of books and games, plus radios for a relaxed non-technological stay. It is five minutes walk from the village of Cilycwm with it's friendly pub, yet it feels secluded. The large enclosed garden has an old apple orchard and a large area of lawn for kids and pets to run around on. The soothing sound of the nearby river Gwenlais is complimented by the sound of birds in the trees that surround the garden.
Llwynhelyg is situated in the Upper Towy Valley, an area renowned for it's scenery and wildlife as well as its folklore. The legendary Twm Shon Catti (known as the Welsh Robin Hood) married a local heiress in the early 17th century and his reputed hide out/cave can still be seen further up the valley. There are three friendly pubs in the valley which all offer excellent fare, the Neuadd Arms, the Royal Oak and the Towy Bridge Inn.
  • A wonderful week at Llwynhelig. We stayed with our 2 dogs and teenage son and daughter. We weren't sure how they would manage without their phones and internet (or us) but it didn't take long to adjust ! It was wonderful to connect together, play games around the log burner whilst listening to the radio. The dogs especially enjoyed the enclosed garden, which is very secure and even contained our little escape artist well. We were fortunate enough to have enough fair weather to make use of it. The property is quite chilly (even in August) so recommend a nice warm jumper for the evenings. The beds were comfy and the quality was good. We didn't use the rayburn so can't comment on that, but the wood burner was brilliant and easy to use and the immersion heater provided us with plenty of hot water quickly. The kitchen is very pretty, with all the basic equipment provided - cleaning supplies, waste bags, cooking utensils and tea towels. However quite limited storage for food etc. Living in quite a busy town, our stay in Llwynhelig was quite an experience and the peace and quiet was wonderful, very rarely was it interrupted by anything other than the lambs in a near by field, birds or the rush of the river following a spell of heavy rain. The outside space at this property was everything we hoped for. All in all we would definitely recommend this property if peace and tranquillity is what you're looking for and can imagine it is full of charm whatever the season.

  • A stunningly, secluded, rustic residence with many original features and lovingly crafter interior. The amenities are basic, but the house provides a fabulous opportunity to escape form it all with some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside.

  • Perfect country cottage in beautiful countryside. Secluded and quiet. Cosy and warm with woodburning stove. Large comfortable double bedrooms. Walking distance to friendly village pub (take a torch for the dark lane!) that has great food and lovely locals. We had a very happy 5 day stay with our two kids and dog. Highly recommended.

    Simon2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great base to explore a special and largely undiscovered part of the country. And the local pubs are fab too. Not many places where you can sit outside a pub and watch kingfishers whilst supping . Recommended.

    Alan2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful traditional cottage with bags of character. Gets quite cold so glad I brought plenty of layers to wear until the log burner was in full swing. Fantastic dog walks close by and loads of leaflets suggesting what to do. Botanic Gardens are a particularly lovely afternoon out about 30 minutes away.

  • We had a fantastic holiday and couldn't ask for anything more from our accommodation or our hosts

  • Excellent base for a family holiday. Located right on the Elan Valley trail, so easy access to safe cycling / walking / hill climbing and minutes from Rhayader which is full of places to eat / shops / interesting museum and cycle hire - everything you need for a family holiday. The highlight of holiday for the kids was definitely the farm tour, feeding the animals, learning to sheep whistle and bringing home a couple of fresh eggs. We would highly recommend this property - kitchen is well stocked and the wine / homemade welsh cakes on arrival were very much appreciated.

  • We booked as a surprise for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and weren't disappointed at all. There was a nice bottle of fizz and some lovely home made welsh cakes waiting for us as well as milk in the fridge and coffee and tea in the cupboards. Angela visited to make sure we had arrived ok and everything was in order and also offered advice on what was nearby and good to visit. We had a really nice stay and would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the area. It is very close to the Elan Valley Dam visitors centre and easy to get to by foot using the cycle path. We loved to use the wood-burner on an evening and the kitchen is well equipped for family meals. The garden is nice an secure and our 2 little dogs loved racing around it.

    Alan2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Well presented bungalow with all the essentials and some lovely little touches too. We were welcomed with a ready-lit log burner and homemade welsh cakes. A warm, cosy place in beautiful surroundings.

  • Amazing location, just 5 minutes from the beautiful Elan Valley, plenty to do here for all ages. The cottage was really warm and cozy and has a welcoming feel about it. We were blessed with some great weather which made the long hikes more enjoyable but even on the wettest day this is a very beautiful part of the country to visit and centrally located depending on where you want to go. Would highly recommend, the hosts have thought of everything for this accommodation, my only regret is not staying longer.

Llandovery is a pleasant market town, only 10 mins by car, along the leafy lane that leads down to the main road. Take your time along here; there are many blind bends and 20 mph is quite fast enough! Many shops, including a medium size supermarket, bakers, butchers, delis, cafes Post office, gift shops etc. A great Chinese takeaway, and the Three Horseshoes fish and chip restaurant and takeaway, both on the main street are recommended, and there are Indian and other fast food outlets. There are several good places to eat out; The Old Printing Office cafe (daytime) is my favourite, behind the shop. The Kings Head and Castle Hotels do good food, as does the Three Horse Shoes restaurant and takeaway. The town used to have over 30 pubs! But now there are approximately 10, and there a several country pubs in the Towy valley that make a good welcome and do food. I provide a detailed list in my welcome pack and handbook. Llandovery is the home of the Llandovery Drovers, a semi professional Welsh Premiership rugby side, and the centre of the small town is occupied by the famous Llandovery College, where many sporting greats have come to the notice of talent spotters, especially on the rugby field. There is a swimming pool, tennis squash and raquetball courts, bowls and croquet adjacent to the delightful Castle Fields cricket ground, next to the car park in the centre of town. A visit to the livestock market, beyond the town car park, on Tuesday mornings or most Fridays could be an interesting excursion. This lovely rural area is fantastic for the outdoors with walking, cycling, both on road and off, and we even have a great MTB trail within easy cycling range of the farm, Cwm Rhaeadr MTB forest trail; cycle over into the next valley, 30 mins, ride the trail, 45 mins /lap, dine in the Neuadd Arms in Cilycwm and ride back to Owl Barn at Penygaer. Phew! Or put the bike in the car to get there..... There are many other cycle and walking tracks through Crychan forest on the opposite side of our Bran valley, or ride/ walk out onto the hills of mid Wales or the Brecon Beacons, only 30 mins away. Visit; Lyn y Fan; the most fantastic (URL HIDDEN) is a delightful lake nestling in the cwm of Fan Fawr, the mountain in the view from the kitchen door; 35 mins in the car, then 40 mins walk to the lake. Magical with mystical stories about the Lady of the Lake! On to the top of Fan Fawr is a good hike, but what a view...yes, that is Somerset you can see from there! Gold Mines at DolauCothi 30 mins away by car Upper Towy valley, Cilycwm, Rhandirmwyn and on to the Lynne Brianne dam, the largest of it's type in Europe, walking/cycling, very scenic 35 mins to the dam up the Towy valley. Aberglasney; world famous gardens, 40 mins National Botanic Garden of Wales, Nantgaredig 45 mins Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli, home of Scarlets rugby 60+ mins Cardiff and the Millenium Stadium 80+ mins Swansea (football and Ospreys rugby) and The Gower peninsular, beaches, walking, etc 90 mins Llandeilo; shopping and architecture 30 mins Brecon; shopping and architecture 35 mins Laugharne; home of Dylan Thomas 65 mins Brechfa forest/Abergorgech; superb MTB trails, 35 mins Dan yr Ogof show caves open to the public 40 mins Ystradfellte; amazing walks in wonderful sheltered wooded valleys with waterfalls and caves Horse riding at Cae Iago Riding Centre, Ffarmers 35 mins Llangose lake; sailing, canoeing etc. beyond Brecon 40 mins Rallying; many events throughout the year, on the Eppynt military range or in Crychan and Halfway forests, 25 mins The area has fantastic roads for motorcyclists, and you will notice many of them visit the town for a cuppa on their travels in summer. Golf; there's a nine hole course just beside the river Towy. 10 mins Builth Wells has a good 18 hole course. 35 mins Builth Wells is also home to the annual Royal Wesh Show around the end of July, and the showground hosts many other events throughout the year. Fishing is possible on the Towy river that flows down its beautiful adjacent valley and past Llandovery, or at Springwater Lakes 30 mins away towards Lampeter.
  • Such a fantastic place to stay!! The barn is so modern and immaculate, literally could not fault anything. Jon is very helpful and the list he provided with local things to do in the area was extremely useful. Looking at going back again in the summer.

Can't recommend it more highly - 5 stars

Jon was prompt with his responses and provided a ream of useful information on walks, local restaurants and transport etc. The apartment was also extremely well equipped and provided everything we might need. It was perfect as the rooms are spacious and there are two bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable and the showers nice and warm. Our son loved going to see the sheep in the surrounding fields and the tractors in the barn. We would definitely recommend staying here!

The hayloft was amazingly clean and tidy on arrival and felt bigger than what I thought it would be looking at the photos. Homemade Welsh cakes were also there to greet us on arrival and they were absolutely delicious (thank you so much Janine). The area is good for walking and being back to nature. We made use of the fire pit and borrowed bbq on the first evening and made use of the garden in the glorious sun on the next morning. Then going for a drive and enjoying the beautiful scenery locally on the route towards Tregaron and taking in the bathing pools along the way. What a perfect stay... plenty of throws for the evening whilst having the bbq. Janine also offered use of the shower in the barn on the second day as it was vacant on this day with no occupants. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend and can't wait to book again. Thank you Janine for your hospitality ... hours later I'm still very relaxed and have a smile on my face :-) Vicki & Rhyd

  • A warm welcome by a brilliant host. The hay lift does what it says on he tin. A tranquil break from the hustle and bustle of daily life in stunning surroundings. A cosy bolt hole where you will not fail to feel calmed by the surroundings and Janine herself.

  • I cannot emphasise enough how wonderful our stay at the Hay Loft was. Janine was a fantastic host, who was warm, friendly and extremely helpful before and throughout our stay - when we arrived we fell in love with the place, and the homemade Welsh cakes were a lovely touch. The Hay Loft is everything we wanted, clean, quirky and quiet with an abundance of character. We look forward to our next stay! Highly recommended.

  • We had a very nice stay in this little house, lost in a deep wild valley. The calm there is quite enjoyable, and even when it rained, we loved staying inside, as it is so cosy. The walks around, in the forest, are also amazingly beautiful. We unfortunately didn't make it to the pub in Beulah, but hope to try it next time ! Thanks again to our host Janine, who welcomed us heartily and worried about our comfort.

  • Janine is a wonderful host, warm and welcoming who gave great directions to the location. Great advice regarding the local pub as well. Had a lovely night, peaceful and quiet tucked away in the woods. Would definitely recommend for couples looking to getaway for the night or longer.
