Places to stay in Belper
A beautiful room in a lovely house on a quiet road in Duffield which is close to the A38 and 6 miles from Derby City Centre. Duffield is a lovely village with restaurants, shops, bars and open countryside within walking distance from the house. The bedroom has a dual-aspect to the garden, an ensuite bathroom and is on the ground floor with its own separate access via the dining room.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, check-in usually has to be after 6pm to give us time for change-over between guests. On other days, check-in can be earlier. The bedroom is decorated in a contemporary style and has a double bed with good quality mattress, a bedside table, a desk, two chairs, wall hanging space for clothes, coffee and tea-making facilities. Breakfast is not included.
There is a golf course (4 min walk), restaurants, bars, cafes and coffee shops in the village (10 min walk)
  • An amazing room at an amazing price in a lovely quiet part of Derbyshire very clean with a very nice host and lovely extras will be the first place I look to stay when I’m next in Derbyshire

  • This is a beautiful space in which to stay. I spent a night here before a very busy weekend and it was ideal. Apart from the decor, the place is nice and quiet, but very well situated... Handy for the village and places beyond. Communication was easy, as was coming in and leaving the following day. I had a lovely evening there and would recommend!!

  • Perfect place on a wet rainy evening. Easy to find. Clear visual instructions for entry via key box. Warm and cosy, kettle and tea items all waiting for me. Everything you need is in the room, including a desk and chairs. Immaculately clean. Firm and comfortable mattress. A quiet street and house. Plenty of street parking. Thank you.

  • Stunning house with your own little corner to it overlooking the garden and patio area, the room was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay on our way up to the Peak District. The hosts were lovely and gave us some tips on local places to eat. Would highly recommend this place for such a bargain! Thanks again you guys! 😀

This lovely stone built cottage, overlooks a 13th Century chapel with views across this beautiful town and is located on a quiet cobbled side street, in a Conservation Area. • A peaceful retreat in the heart of Belper. The cottage is tucked away behind the main street, making access to the shops and restaurants quick and simple yet always feeling like an oasis of calm. Amy was quick to communicate during the booking process and also provided some recommendations on where to eat (breakfast at Fresh Basil was amazing). The cottage itself was immaculate, some thoughtful touches were included such as coffee and milk, as well as toiletries in case anything had been forgotten. We would definitely stay again if visiting this lovely part of the country. Thoroughly impressed and highly recommended.

Chapel Mews is one half of a Grade II listed former chapel with great views over the surrounding countryside. It has a large open plan living/dining room and kitchen with antique table and comfortable sofas. 2 good sized double/twin bedrooms. Belper town centre with shops, restaurants, pubs and a cinema is within walking distance. Easy access to all areas of Derbyshire/Peaks. Very good WI-FI.
Our 2 double bedroomed, grade 2 listed former chapel makes for a lovely stay in the historic Derbyshire mill town of Belper which has great amenities and transport links to The Derbyshire Peak District. We have furnished with a mix of vintage and modern pieces and a few cosy touches to make you feel at home. The ground floor is a spacious, open plan space with tall 3m high ceilings that you might expect from an old chapel. The kitchen is very well equipped with a range cooker, microwave and dishwasher and plenty of crockery and utensils. There is also a coffee machine and we provide free tea and coffee. There are plenty of books, a few games and a smart TV to entertain you during your stay. We also have Wi-Fi with a very good signal. The open staircase that leads from the rear of the ground floor has a big window that offers great views and there is a galleried landing at the top. Upstairs the large master bedroom has a super king size bed that can be split into 2 singles (just let us know if you need it making up as single beds). The second bedroom has a comfortable standard size double bed and benefits from views over the surrounding countryside. Both bedrooms are big enough to accommodate an infants travel cot which we can provide on request. There is a double sofa bed in the living room for which we provide bed linen on request or for bookings of 5 or more. There is one family bathroom with the shower over the bath. The shower has good pressure and is on a hose so can be lowered for those who don't want to wash their hair every day! Outside, there is a small decking area at the front of the house with garden furniture so you will be able to sit outside with your morning coffee or a nice cup of tea and maybe a old beer or glass of wine in the evening. Free on-road parking is directly outside the front of the chapel and there is space for more than one vehicle within a few metres with no parking restrictions. If you travel by public transport Belper train Station and the main bus depot are less than a mile away. We send out further information on local restaurants and places of interest when your booking is confirmed and are always happy to help with any special requests. There are books and maps with plenty of Derbyshire walks in the chapel when you arrive. The Wi-Fi signal s also very good for you to research the area further.
Belper is a lovely historic Derbyshire mill town and the chapel is only a 10-15 minute (uphill) walk from the town centre which offers independent shops, restaurants, pubs and the art deco style Ritz cinema. The river gardens with play area is also popular with all ages. There are lots of places of interest and things to do locally which makes this a great base to explore Derbyshire from.
  • Very nice place to stay.

We have recently finished converting our barn into a light and clean holiday home, ideal for families or a group of friends. Set in the village of Holbrook which has great access to both the city centres of Derby and Nottingham or the beautiful countryside within the Peak District national park. Holbrook also offers a local shop, post office and two real ale pubs, all within a two minute walk.
A converted barn on a non-working farm, next door to our family home. We are on the out skirts of an amazing village with excellent amenities, shop, 3x pubs, cafe, post office.... Holbrook is also a great base for walking, cycling and trips to the Peak District
We have the village shop 100m down the road and two real ale pubs not much further away. In addition we have the community owned Spotted Cow pub and Spotted Calf Cafe 10 minutes walk away, all of which give Holbrook a great village feel. Holbrook is a sited on a hill so the views can be spectacular. There are also some great walks that go through our village taking you to the nearby Little Eaton, Milford and Duffield.
  • Visit Boothswood Barn, it's fantastic and in a beautiful location.

    Joanne2020-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend in Lizzie's lovely accommodation. It was well equipped with a dish washer and washing machine plus smart TV. The house was stylish / sparkling clean and Lizzie is a great host. The accommodation is easy to find with plenty of parking. A great pub, Dead Poets, is 2 mins away along with a well stocked village shop. We will be back again!

    Robbie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect stay in Derbyshire! The barn is immaculately finished, well equipped and super cosy. Wish we’d have booked longer there and will certainly be booking again.

    Clare2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and two friends enjoyed a child free relaxing weekend here. The house was beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. The beds were comfy and the TV had inbuilt Netflix - what more could we ask for? Holbrook is a picture perfect village and we would definitely recommend Sunday lunch at the Spotted Cow, it was one of the best Sunday lunches we've had. The weather was horrendous the weekend we stayed so we didn't venture out much which suited us fine but the surrounding scenery was stunning. We will definitely be back.

    Carly2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie was a great host. Check in was easy and her home was gorgeous and sparkling clean. A couple of thoughtful touches really made our stay all the more enjoyable. Thank you! X

  • Absolutely outstanding place to stay. We have a toddler just under 18months and they couldn't have offered us more to make sure the place was just right for our needs. There's a stair gate, high chair, cot and toys! We loved the location and the layout of the property. Would highly recommend to anyone!! We will definitely be back.

A peaceful retreat in an idyllic setting on the outskirts of Derby in a picturesque village with a popular pub restaurant and tea room. It is an ideal location for both business and leisure visitors to Derbyshire: approximately five minutes drive to Kedleston Hall, Derby University and Duffield and also conveniently situated for Rolls Royce, Bombardier, Derby Royal Hospital and Toyota. You are welcome to help yourself to tea, coffee, juice and for breakfast there are cereals and toast.
With many footpaths through the countryside on its doorstep, it is a relaxing place to unwind in a rural setting while still less than 5 miles to Derby city centre.
The extremely popular pub restaurant 'The Joiners Arms' is a 10 minute walk away and the Tea room 'Queenies' serving light lunches is five minutes walk away. Kedleston Hall is five minutes drive away and turning right out of the drive leads you straight to the magificent Derbyshire countryside
  • Wendy was very warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful and all the amenities were spotless. I loved being able to write in this lovely space. Wendy was also very helpful with local walks and other titbits of information. I would highly recommend Wendy and her home to anybody, especially if you want to find some gorgeous walks that you can get to from your doorstep. This is a little gem of a place to stay with a wonderful host who goes the extra mile.

    Michelle2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy has been a great host, with full attention to all details. Great welcome and greeting . House and Room are spotlessly clean with lots of amenities available in a luxury level. It is a homely comfortable place at heart of a picturesque and cosy location. Wendy is very helpful and informed host .

    Farid2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • What an ideal space for what I needed within the price I had in mind too. Beautiful nature surroundings and a very cosy comfortable warm spacious room with a private bathroom. Wendy is very easy going and efficient and all in all made my brief stay very positive. If I'm in that area again Wendy, no doubt I'll book your place. Best wishes. Greg

    Greg2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb stay and Wendy has set the bar incredibly high! The suite of rooms has everything you could need and Wendy has provided a host of thoughtful extra touches (bathrobe, hairdryer, toiletries, snacks etc). The bed was comfortable and the shower had fantastic pressure if you care about that, and I definitely do! The house is very quiet and peaceful. Wendy was very quick to reply to messages and gave clear and accurate directions, and was there to welcome me when I arrived. I really can’t recommend staying here highly enough... I’m only sad I couldn’t stay more than one night.

  • A superb little home from home, clean and tidy and some classy personal touches. A great base to explore the Peak District for a couple with a dog (or without!) Emma was great to deal with. Will call again!

  • Was so happy with our stay at this little bungalow! Amazing! Such cute thoughts put into the little touches! As soon as we walked in we smelt a breath of fresh air! It was so clean! The bed was the most comfy thing I’ve slept on! We literally knocked out as soon as we got into it! I’d 10000% come and stay here again! Perfect for a little get away! We even got complimentary breakfast! What more could we possibly ask for!

    Kavita2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly I like to comment on how incorrect the last review was, Emma is very good at communication, I messaged her a couple of times and both times she answered my questions, I was up here visiting family, we were eating in Belper which is less than 5 minutes away in a car. The bungalow itself is beautifully decorated and has some lovely features, there is cereal, bread, butter, jam, milk, orange juice, tea, eggs and coffee provided. The bed is so comfortable and the walk in shower is amazing. It is private and not overlooked by any houses. I love the fact I could let myself in via a keysafe as I chose a self-contained place as I love my privacy. I will definitely be back as it is a wonderful place to stay.

    Yvonne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal accommodation for two and dog friendly. Well equipped, spacious, comfy, clean, welcoming. Key box so conviennent. Heating and lighting in for arrival. Lots of supplies for breakfast . Clear communication. Amazing value. Our second time here. Can highly recommend.

This is a small, modern, detached house with a conservatory and small garden. It takes 10-15 mins to walk into the centre of town where there is a railway station with trains to Derby and Matlock. Buses connect to Derby, Manchester, the Peak District and Nottingham. It is a quiet residential area but the town centre has pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and local businesses. The leisure centre is 10 mins walk. The town is World Heritage listed, being famous during the Industrial Revolution.
Small comfortable modern house with pleasant garden and conservatory for relaxing in. Single bedroom with additional bed stored under when not in use. Desk and chair for work - great views over Belper to distract you though! Tea and coffee making facilities, and access to kitchen for snacks. TV and DVD player in the living room and you are welcome to join us in the evenings.
Quiet residential area with occasional traffic. Great views over the outskirts of town, and everywhere in town is hilly! 5 mins by car or 10-15 mins walk to the town (using shortcuts!). Nearby pubs and leisure centre, parks and places to walk.
  • Excellent and pleasant host. My stay with them was wonderful and really made my first AirBnB experience something that I could never forget. Everything was excellent, breakfast, room, etc... Would stay again with them every time :)

  • Jan was very welcoming and interesting to chat to. And the breakfast was a nice bonus in the morning! Great value place and just as described. I stayed with a friend and it was just right for a night.

  • Jan and Fred are friendly and easy to get along with. A modest, comfortable house and room with everything you need or want. A very pleasant night.

    Emma2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Fred are both such thoughtful hosts. Super easy check-in. The room was so quiet, comfortable and homely and it was fantastic that the curtains were lined so I managed to sleep even in the morning! Would love to come and stay again- highly recommended! Xx Mel

  • I was made to feel very welcome and also asked if I wanted to join my hosts in the evening for a drink with them and their friends. The hosts provided a continental breakfast option and great conversation :). The room was clean and arty, with nice little touches, such as, books of poetry, travel and local information and even a small bag of sweets! It was a brief but lovely stay.

This spacious cottage is a great place to hang out, explore historic Belper on foot and visit Derbyshire's many attractions.
The cottage overlooks the river gardens and is very close to the 18c water mill and river walks. Within 200 m there are two excellent restaurants (17 & 18c) and many more beyond. The cottage has 2 large living rooms (4m x 4m) one with a log burner adjacent to the kitchen and a lounge/dining room with the TV/DVD. There are two large double bedrooms tastefully furnished with 2 double beds and an additional single bed if required.
Just a short walk away is the river gardens and the 18c water mill, part of the Derwent valley world heritage region.
  • Spacious, peaceful and a great view. All the facilities we could have required

  • I booked this for some of our staff, they were really impressed with the place and the amenities on offer, would return.

  • We stopped at Roy’s place whilst attending a wedding at the West Mill in Derby. The location means it’s a 15 minute drive to the venue but it’s covered by Uber - Win. The cottage is perfect for couples or families. The bedrooms are spacious and clean and there are two sitting room areas which is great if you need a bit of relaxation away from the rest of the group. Check in and out was really easy with the use of the key box which meant we didn’t need to worry about when we arrived but communication with Roy was there throughout. The views from the bathroom window were amazing! Parking is on the road outside but we never struggled with finding a space. The house was beautifully clean and there were towels a plenty which was a huge bonus! We would definitely stop again if in the area!

  • We had a great time in this lovely Belper cottage. Its cosy and warm. The view over the river is amazing. We all absolutely loved it.

    Alicia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Roy’s place which is a lovely, cosy cottage at the edge of Belper. Communication was smooth. When we arrived, the cottage was warm and there was everything we needed, including milk, tea, coffee etc. There are two good sized bedrooms and two rooms downstairs with TVs. There is a lovely log fire in one room which is a bonus. A great cottage - we would love to return.

    Helen2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little house, located in a very nice area, very cosy interior, we felt like at home.

  • Very comfortable and well situated cottage.

    Ellen2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely weekend in this cottage with 4 of my friends. It was beautiful and a real homely base for either going out walking, or spending hours socialising in -cooking and spending time on the comfy sofas by the fire - as we did. Roy was very responsive and kind in answering all of our questions ahead of time. We will be recommending highly to family and friends. Thank you!

"The Loft" is close to all local amenities such as shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. we are situated within a 5 minute walk to the local train station and are on the main route for public transport.
  • Very modern and stylish

  • We had a splendid stay at The Loft for three nights over Christmas. The accomodation is very cosy and has all you need. The location is perfect if visiting to explore the Peak District and is just a very short walk into Belper town centre, where there are many shops, bars and restaurants. Sarah was the perfect host and was very welcoming. We'd definitely recommend to friends and would stay there again if we were to visit the area again.

  • We couldn’t have had a better stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sarah’s lovely apartment. The appartment was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities we needed for a great weekend. Sarah couldn’t have been more helpful, and shared some great tips for local restaurants. We would be back in a heartbeat.

    Sam2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Me & my partner have just checked out this morning, sad to be leaving after a week of staying here with our 2 dogs between moving house! The most gorgeous apartment. If you are debating staying here.. just book it!! you won't be disappointed. the pictures don't do the place justice, very modern & clean.. everything is as good as new. Sarah is lovely, very fast responses she just wants to help! we arrived to a lovely bottle of white wine.. fresh cheese from a local village farm! fresh milk, biscuits, crackers! basically a hamper!! we cannot fault anything at all. the apartment is also in a fab location, a pub across the road which i must say has a lovely sun terrace for an hour or 2.. along with other lovely pubs/restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. We will really miss this lovely apartment!! Melissa & Curtis, Thank you!

  • The loft is a beautiful place to stay, small walk to the town with pubs ,restaurants and shops. Beautifully decorated , very clean and homely! Sarah is a wonderful host who messaged through-out my stay to check all was ok! Thank you, and I look forward to returning again!

  • The Loft is a beautiful little space: perfect size for two people (and a dog) but would be very tight for four. Belper is a lovely little place, within easy reach of the Peaks. The Loft is gorgeously designed, very modern and cozy. Sarah is a wonderful host and responded quickly to our constant questions. Highly recommended and we will be back!

    Hannah2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was very quick at responding to my booking and messages. She even told me she was getting me a bottle of wine for my arrival and a food basket. I was overwhelmed with her kindness from her messages alone. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the trip but she was very understanding about the whole matter. I would stay at this place again if I get the chance!

    Alexander2019-05-07T00:00:00Z

No18 is a unique, welcoming home-from-home nestled in the heart of historic Belper with views of Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The house is ideally situated, only 5 minutes from the train station and town centre with its award winning high street. No 18 has been carefully renovated, using second-hand furniture and materials wherever possible and featuring work by local artists. All items in the house are for sale, so guests can take a souvenir home with them should they wish to!
In case it's not clear from the listing, we are committed to fair pricing, so we don't charge extra in the school holidays. We have added a small extra charge per person for groups of 5 or 6 just to cover the cost of laundry, cleaning and utilities- but we don't charge a cleaning fee on any of our bookings so there are no hidden costs. We're also committed to using second hand/repaired items wherever possible. This has created what we hope is a unique, contemporary & homely environment, with a strong design element. We support local artists by featuring their work on the walls and we believe in giving things a second chance that others might throw away. For example we fitted the kitchen units with old car door handles from the 1950s and the king-size bed in the loft was made by Tony from an old pine door and some timber left over from the loft conversion. The house has a projector in the lounge for watching DVDs. There are speakers througout the house and music can be played from phones/ipods/tablets and other devices via an auxillary cable. There isn't a CD player provided. Please note the road surfaces in our neighbourhood are a little rough & bumpy - but on the flip side it means there is little traffic and it's nice and safe here for kids and pets!
Our neighbourhhood is called 'The Clusters' and was built by Jedidiah Strutt for workers in the historic mills that still remain in Belper and form part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. George Street is one of three streets named after the Strutt sons and still retains a strong sense of community & historic charm. Our neighbours are friendly and always take the time to say hello. We kindly ask that guests respect our neighbours and that noise is kept to an acceptable level at night. Please note the road surfaces in our neighbourhood are a little rough & bumpy - but on the flip side it means there is little traffic and it's nice and safe here for kids and pets!

Cosy self-contained annex 1 mile from Belper Town centre with pubs, supermarkets and beautiful walks nearby. It is large enough for a maximum of two guests. Free parking and WiFi. Not suitable for people with mobility problems due to the stair case.
The self contained annex is on the side of my property, you have your own access. Downstairs is the kitchen with a breakfast bar and lounge area. The kitchen has a fridge, full fan oven and a 5 burner hob as well as a microwave and a washing machine. Upstairs is a double bed - word of warning - there is restricted access to the far side of the bed due to the eaves, you do have to duck your head on this side. There is an en-suite with shower, wash hand-basin and toilet.
This property is within walking distance to a local pub which provides great food. Belper town has many cafes, shops and restaurants.

  • Very pleased with my stay at Jane’s place. I stayed for three weeks as it was located perfectly for work. The property itself was clean and Jane was very welcoming and accommodating at all times andchecked that I had everything I needed. The place is fully equipped and Jane made a point of ensuring all bedding, towels and toilet rolls were changed each week. I would highly recommend the property. You can’t control whether the heating is on/off as this is done from the main property but Jane made it very clear that I could contact her at anytime to request it. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

A welcoming and tastefully decorated Victorian cottage that backs onto woodland yet is only a 5-10 minute walk from the bustling market town of Belper. The property is located seconds from the entrance to the local woodland nature reserve which provides lovely walking opportunities with or without a canine friend. It also provides a lovely alternative walk into town - but still only 5-10 minutes on foot.
Ideally located for those wishing to visit the Peak district or the immediate surrounding areas that offer plenty of countryside walks. as well as the wealth of shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants on offer in Belper itself,
  • If you are staying in the Derby area, I can highly recommend staying in Sarah's cottage. It is cosy and well equipped. We had five adults and one toddler staying and we found the cottage to be perfect for our needs. It is also excellent value for money.

  • A great little cottage, clean, well equipped and homely. Nice location backing onto woods but it is on a steep hill with no off street parking.

    Sarah2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Belper is a little treasure of a town and Sarah's cottage is 10 minute walk to the cafes and bars. Woods next door. Friendly people everywhere and a lovely spacious cottage with the nicest of hosts. What's not to like!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Sycamore Cottage. It was ideal for our weekend away for our group of 4 adults and 2 infants. The house itself is lovely, a home away from home with everything you could possibly need. It’s incredibly spacious and furnished. The area is beautiful and the town a short walk away. There’s also a great farmers market on the second Saturday of the month in the town. I would recommend staying here and I would stay again.

    Jo2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed out week at Sycamore Cottage. The house was much bigger than I expected from the photos. The bed linens, pillows towels etc were nice quality. Nice touches through out the house. The location was great with a short walk into town. The dogs loved the walk in the woods which is right behind the house. The kids enjoyed the playground and playing field at the bottom of the road. The next time we go to Derbyshire I will be booking Sarah's house again.

Mill cottage built in 1795 in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. Pubs, restaurants, country walks and the train station within walking distance. A perfect place to have a relaxing break. Feel like you've stepped back in time. No need for a car due to its easy accessibility. Great individual shops. Easy access to Chatsworth,Matlock, Bakewell,Gullivers World and Alton Towers.
This beautiful cottage has 3 floors and really is a home from home. There are traditional fireplaces and wooden beams so you really feel like you have stepped back in time. The lounge has a wood burner making it a cosy place to relax. There is a TV, DVD player, iPod player and a selection of DVD's and boardgames. There is a separate dining area and a fully equipped kitchen containing a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, bread maker and plenty of pans, cutlery and local Denby crockery. There are also flasks available to take on your country walks. Tea , coffee and biscuits are available and a carton of longlife milk so you can get the kettle on as soon as you arrive. The large bathroom on the first floor has a long bath with an overhead shower. There is an electric macerator toilet and therefore care must be taken to only put toilet paper in it otherwise it will break and there will be a charge to repair it. There is also a toilet downstairs in the out house area. The bedrooms are large situated on the first and second floors. Both have a double bed and there are 2 additional full size double Aerobeds available that can be put in each room on request and at an additional cost. There is also a travel cot available however bedding is not provided. Both bedrooms have a radio and one bedroom has a small TV. Information leaflets are available to plan your activities and make the most of all that there is to do in the local area. There are reading books as well as walking books and maps so you can fully explore the area. A washing machine is also available should need to wash any muddy clothes after a country ramble. There is full use of the garden and plenty of garden furniture so that alfresco dining can be enjoyed. WiFi is available.
Belper is a beautiful, friendly town with many independent shops such as an artisian bakery and a fabulous deli / cafe called Fresh Basil that I recommend for breakfast. There are a number of pubs within walking distance including the George and Dragon that has live music on a Friday and Saturday night. There are a great range of restaurants - Chinese, Thai, Italian, Indian, Tapas, carvery and numerous tea rooms. Belper also has the lovely independent Ritz cinema ( I recommend booking this in advance if you want to go - its worth it). There is local park with a childrens play area and row boat hire is available in the summer. The Peak district is on your doorstep, close to Chatsworth, Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Castleton where the famous Blue John Caves are making it a good base for walkers cyclists caving and rock climbing or if you are visiting Alton Towers. The Matlock Light Show in the Autumn is a short train journey from Belper. It may also be of interest if you have a business trip in Derby but don't want to stay in the city or working at Glowworm/Valliant or D S Smith that are close by.
  • The cottage is perfectly placed for visiting Belper. It was exactly as described, we had a great stay and enjoyed the history of the street and surrounding area. We spent a relaxing two nights here, cosy and with everything we needed- a lovely place to stay.

Perfect for visiting Derbyshire's Peak District National Park, our many National Trust and historic houses, and handy too for the city of Derby. Good pubs, restaurants and shops in the area. The Apartment is part of our 18th century cottage and enjoys panoramic views across the river valley and historic Milford village. Country walks start from your door, with good public transport links for travelling further afield in the Peak District. Local buses run every 15 minutes and the Trans Peak service from Derby to Buxton is hourly. Ashbourne and Dovedale are a short drive and worth a trip to see the famous sights there. • Nice and quite with a pleasant view and garden to sit in. Neighbours have some chickens and a couple of pet curly horned sheep that don't make any noise. The apartment was much more comfortable and fun than a hotel room with things to read, TV, radio/CD player and free wi-fi. Powerful central heating if you needed it.

We will definitely stay with Julie again when we want a break in the Derby area.

  • We had a lovely home away from home at The Barn, being Feb we used it as a base to travel around various attractions (with my 7-year old) as it sadly rained lots and we didn’t use the terrace...it’s a lovely space, we never had trouble with heating - was wonderfully warm and the heating system changed temp immediately ....water tank is massive, so we never ran out - my daughter had a daily roll top bath! The local Puss in Boots pub is extremely friendly. Lovely place to stay.

Welcome to Market Head Apartment. Nestled at the heart of historical Belper Market Head Apartment is perfectly located for exploring Belper, the nearby beautiful Peak District and all Derbyshire has to offer. At the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Belper has much to offer. As the original winner of "Britain's Best High Street" there is something to suit all tastes with an abundance of independent shops & restaurants, pubs, cafes and cinema.
The accommodation is over 2 floors. A private entrance leads upstairs to a newly refurbished well equipped kitchen with a dining area for 2. The kitchen leads to a cosy lounge with a freeview TV and built in DVD player. Free wifi is provided. A narrow staircase off the lounge leads to the bright & airy bedroom with kingsize bed & a modern bathroom with spacious free standing shower cubicle. The property benefits from full gas central heating throughout.
  • My partner and I stayed at Alison’s place while visiting family during Christmas. Alison communicated promptly and prior to arrival messaged local holiday events and left some bubbly for us to enjoy. We enjoyed our stay in this updated, clean and cozy three story apartment. Alison left sweets and Christmas decor to make it feel like home. The stairs to the bedroom are rather steep and would not be easy if you or your fellow travel partner have any mobility issues. One key was issued. A secondary key would be beneficial so you can come and go separate from your travel partner if need be. There is a pub (disco club) attached and played music in the evenings, while we could hear it through the walls it did not bother us. Prime location to explore the great village of Belper, which has many shops and a grocery store, train and bus station within walking distance. Bus and train are easy to access. We would stay here again if we make it back anytime soon. Thanks again Alison!

  • Alison’s apartment is great. It is very clean, comfortable, cosy and well furnished with some nice personal touches. Everything is provided for a perfect stay. There is a free car park with lots of space a minute walk from the apartment and two pubs on the doorstep. You are a couple of minutes walk from the high street. There are lots of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance. It is an ideal base. One reviewer stated that there is some noise from the adjoining pub, there is but it is minimal it didn’t disturb us and at 11.30 it is all over. Sunday the pub is closed. We had a great stay and it is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area.

    Stephen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place.

    Anthony2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have asked for more from this stay. I stay in many hotels with work and what I look for when using Airbnb is that "home from home" feeling to a place, having my own space to cook (I enjoy it) and not to be living, eating, showering and working in pretty much the same four walls. I can't recommend this location enough. Alison has clearly taken a time and effort to create a clean, comfortable and homely environment. There are modern touches for those that like the digital creature comforts and you couldn't ask to be more centrally located to the amenities. Information on the nearby eateries, should you need it, has been provided and all aspects of the furniture and fittings have a quality feel about them. Alison herself was kind enough to meet me and show me round, given the humid weather on the day I was also very touched that a fan was bought over as a little extra and made use of it. I'd say it was the kind of stay you always hope to have, effortless and enjoyable. Thank you again Alison.

  • Had a fantastic stay in this lovely apartment. Very comfortable with nice homely touches that make a huge difference. Alison was very accommodating. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

  • This was an utterly gorgeous flat. In a prime location, with several quirks that made the stay just so enjoyable. I loved the stairs being hidden behind a door, and the candles that switch on by twisting. The venue was amazing, and all the advice given by the host was perfect. Simply wonderful. 5 stars

  • We had a great stay in Barry's cottage. He gave very clear instructions for arriving and accessing the cottage. It is very homely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a great base for walking in the Peak District and we enjoyed visiting the nearby pubs and restaurants, or sitting in the lovely garden in the evenings. Parking is busy, but we always found somewhere within a minute or two walk, so no problem at all. Would highly recommend.

    Sarah2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • A very well presented cottage, not cluttered at all with knickknacks. Has everything you need for a getaway.

    Jen2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great stay at Frith cottage. The location was perfect for us with family just down the road and the Peak District so close by. The house itself was great for our little family. My son lived his spacr in the attic. We have everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for more 😊 Belper is a lovely town with shops and pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. We had a night at the Ritz, which was lovely. Would love to stay again!

  • Lovely little cottage in Belper. Plenty of places to eat and get a drink within walking distance. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and was spotlessly clean on arrival. Great communication from Barry and easy check in. Close to some lovely walks, we did the high peaks trail and visited Lumsdale falls. Will be looking to return.

Magnolia Cottage is a Grade II listed 240 year old cottage located on the cobbled street of Long Row in the historical town of Belper. We have carefully renovated this beautiful stone home, trying to keep as much character and history as possible. We absolutely love our cottage, and look forward to sharing it with anyone interested in having a relaxing break in the countryside, Less than 10 minutes walk from Belper bus and train stations
There are 2 sets of stairs leading to the 2nd floor bedroom. The 2nd floor bedroom has a king sized bed and the 1st floor has a double sized bed. The living room is furnished to be comfortable and cozy. We have mixed a few local history pieces with more modern pieces to create a place that fills everyones needs. We also have a large selection of DVD's for you to enjoy. The smart TV is available for you to watch Netflix if you have an account. Very good wifi from every room. The bedrooms both have lovely views of the countryside and the 2nd floor bedroom overlooks the East Mill. This cottage is perfect for hikers and walkers. We are located at the gateway to the Peak District, and in less than 5 minutes you can pick up a footpath leading to Cromford and Matlock If you are planning to stay for a longer visit we can arrange for our local cleaner to visit for an extra charge.
Belper is a historic town, with small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The Ritz is a lovely independent movie theatre, all are a 5-10 minute walk away. There are many hikes and walks nearby. What makes it so special here are the friendly neighbors and their sense of pride about the area. If you are looking for a place to have a party and make a lot of noise please look elsewhere! The beauty of this cottage is the quietness and peacefulness that surrounds it.
  • I chose to come back to stay here because it was such a perfect house stay in a gorgeous place on one of the lovely historic streets in Belper. It was a great starting point, ideal for me whilst working away from home and it would be a great place to use as a spring board to visit the world heritage sites close by along the river and also the gorgeous Derbyshire contryside. Lovely rooms on a quiet road in the town with brilliant views of the Strutt Mill and the countryside beyond. We even had the stove fired up to make it cosy!

Beautiful traditional stone cottage on edge of peak district with original beams, fire, traditional features and all the modern amenities located in the Amber Valley District. Stunning views over the Derwent Valley, landscaped, decked, garden with barbecue and furniture. Two double, one single bedrooms, bathroom, downstairs shower room and toilet, kitchen with dishwasher, living and dining rooms. WiFi and central heating throughout, washing machine, dryer and freezer.
The cottage is 10 minutes drive from the Peak District boundary. There are numerous local country walks straight from the doorstep, Carsington water reservoir is 15 minutes' drive, the High Peak cycle trail is a ten minute drive or twenty five minute cycle ride away and other historic towns such as Matlock, Matlock Bath, Bakewell and Castleton are all within a half hour drive. Chatsworth House, Heage Windmill, the Blue John Mines, Pickfords House, Calke Abbey, the Heights of Abraham's and Gulliver's Kingdom are also in easy reach

  • A lovely cottage, had everything we needed and nice and quiet. We'll definitely be back!

    Andrew2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautifully maintained and set up well for guests. They are various amenities you would need for a longer stay (iron, washing machine etc.) and board games in the dining room as well which was a lovely touch. The cottage is cosy but we had plenty of room with 2 couples sharing the cottage. The 2 bathrooms and 2 double bedrooms are a great advantage and the rooms are equally sized to avoid arguments over the better room! The cottage is around a 15 minute walk from the station up a steep hill and we struggled to find a taxi as the town is so small. We did prebook taxis for other travel which wasnt an issue when organised in advance. It is definitely an advantage to have a car to visit here but the town and restaurants are walkable if you don't mind hills. The cottage and location are lovely and a great way to spend time in the countryside.

You’ll love my place because it’s 5 mins walk to the centre of Duffield with its pubs & shops & 10 min train or bus into Derby or Matlock. A 30 min drive to Ashbourne & Wirksworth. The house is being renovated so is a little hectic but these rooms are in a separate annex & although not perfect are comfy. Its good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families &pets. We have a dog, cat & children & welcome those with or without.
The guests are welcome to use any part of the annex and garden . There are two toilets, a small lounge and kitchen area. There are tvs in both bedrooms and the lounge area.

  • A really pleasant room above a village pub, with plenty to do in the surrounding area. The room was very clean and spacious, with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and cereals for breakfast. We had breakfast in the Spotted Calf cafe, which is part of this community owned pub. The pub has a good range of real ales including local brews and plenty of gins, including the locally made Shining Cliff and offers food throughout the day. Very friendly but unintrusive people helped to make this a lovely stay.

  • We were thoroughly impressed with everything about this property, from the speed of response when enquiring / booking, through to the welcome and the thoughtful welcome pack. The property is delightful! It had everything we could have wanted and is set in beautiful grounds - ideal for walking our puppy. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place and will look to book again next time we are heading to Derbyshire.

  • My partner and I visited Jonathan and Bren’s place with our Puppy Simba to celebrate our first anniversary! We had the most amazing time... the place itself is beautiful much more than we expected and the little touches like the welcome hamper, whirlpool bath and the dog treats/bed made us feel even more welcome! It’s very secluded and private allowing us to enjoy some family time together. Simba loved exploring the beautiful garden and we loved stepping away from our busy lives and enjoying some lovely calm and peaceful walks! We will most definitely be returning! Thank you again to you both, I couldn’t recommend it enough Holly, Joe and Simba x🐾

  • Beautiful accommodation. Jonathan and Bren have clearly taken the time to think of anything that might be needed whilst there. The welcome basket was also a lovely idea. The whirlpool bath was great! The whole place was very comforting. Super enjoyable time.

Duffield is situated on the edge of the Peak District with good public transport into Derby by bus or train and into the Peak district also by bus or train. There is plenty to do in the region either with or without a car : good walking, shopping in Derby , Nottingham or Chesterfield; there is a local preserved railway The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway which runs from the village at weekends and more often in the summer. We are also near to The Midland Railway at Butterley. Theatres in Derby and Nottingham have good, varied programmes and we are near to the Buxton Opera house. I have lived in Duffield all my life so have a good knowledge of the area and would be happy to advise on local amenities.
Duffield has an Indian restaurant; a Chinese takeaway; 2 Fish and chip shops, 2 gastro pubs and a microbar. Breakfast can be eaten at Godfrey's and Birds sell breakfast baps. The co-op is open from seven in the morningto ten at night everyday and sells most standard groceries. I will get basics in for you and will try and provide whatever you need if possible, if you let me know what you require
  • Great suite of rooms giving you lots of space to relax and self cater. Very kind host who provided lots of extras which were greatly appreciated. Fantastic value for money place to stay in Duffield. Highly recommend.

  • We found everything we needed - and more - in Barbara's well equipped, comfortable and spacious accommodation in the centre of Duffield. The house itself has a fascinating history and we were grateful for the notes Barbara left to describe this. The accommodation is exactly as described and was ideal for us visiting family locally; we'd plan to return sometime soon. Thank you Barbara.

  • Lovely private suite in good location. Even bacon, bread and milk provided. Barbara was very helpful.

    Louise2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed with Barbara for one night, but we enjoyed the spacious and airy rooms in this one bedroom flat. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was very quiet even though it's on a busy high street. There are plenty of places to find meals around within walking distance (a fish bar, an Indian and a Chinese restaurant) plus a very popular micro pub across the road and a Co-op a few doors down. We plan to try to book this again on future visits to family in the immediate area.

  • Barbara was a lovely host, nice personal touches of baking a loaf of bread and providing eggs and bacon for breakfast! It is also the comfiest bed I have possibly slept in. Thanks again Barbara.

  • This place had all we needed for a stay visiting family. It was spotlessly clean and a little jug of milk and some tea and coffee were left out so we could make a cuppa after our long journey from Essex. We will definitely be booking again as it was perfect for what we needed.

  • Lovely little place! I was attending training at Slimming World's head office and this place is a 10 minute drive from there. Clean, well kitted out and beautiful views. Was perfect for me getting to and from training and my husband and puppers loved the local walks. Great stay
