Holiday Rentals in Fearnmore

Just booked in Fearnmore

Recommended in Rough Guide, Observer, and The Times Travel, our Bothy and Barrel campsite is an excellent space for couples or families to experience our magical little corner of the Scottish Highlands here on our historic family-owned island. A traditional highland camping experience with lots of extra amenities, such as complimentary bed linens, a kitchen stocked with all the essentials, private shower and toilet, and excellent high-speed wifi.
Enjoy your family holiday in total privacy on your very own corner of a historic family-owned private island. Unlike traditional campsites in the highlands, this "Bothy and Barrel" is just for you with a private shower and toilet facilities, and a kitchen complete with all of the cooking essentials. The barrel is suitable for adult couples or children, while the cabin living room space has a pullout sofa and bunk bed. There is a television and highspeed wifi, with lots of films and board games for entertaining children. All bed linens are complimentary, though bath towels can also be hired out. The Bothy and Barrel run totally off the grid so electricity is also complimentary. Unfortunately, the site is inaccessible to those with mobility difficulties, as accessing the island requires a 10-minute walk down the hill from the car park and crossing a slippery floating foot bridge. Waterproof, high grip shoes are a must and guests are advised to carry torches after dusk.
Dry Island sits in the tranquil waters of Gair Loch (literally "short loch") where the Mackenzies have lived, fished and farmed since the 15th Century. Dry Island's current owner, Ian McWhinney is a descendent of the Mackenzies and still fishes for shellfish from the Island. He is very happy to take visitors out to harvest langoustines, crabs and squat lobsters from his creels. Warm Gulf Stream waters make for a temperate climate which attracts plentiful wildlife, including seabirds, otters and whales which feast on the seasonal bounty of the sea. The loch is circled to the south by the dramatic Torridon Mountains including the 3300ft high Beinn Alligin and Slioch (3215ft), one of Scotland's finest mountains. Inverness is the nearest city to Dry Island and is approximately 90 minutes drive away. Across the sea is Skye, the Isle of Rona and the Inner Hebrides and boat trips to the islands can be booked during your stay. The village of Badachro on the shores of Gair Loch has a fine pub with a restaurant in which to dine and relax after a day in the hills. However you want to relax and unwind, Dry Island has so much to offer.
  • Loved our stay at Dry Island, the location is amazing.. Although quite a walk from the car park to the accommodation if you have massively overpacked like we did, so try to condense your luggage! You get tons of space at the Otter Cabin where we stayed, a bit of a bargain! The shellfish safari with Ian was fantastic, would definitely recommend doing this.

  • Great fun staying on an island! A friendly reception and a great pub down the road!

    Emma2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • I read through nearly all the reviews of the property on Airbnb and was looking forward to experiencing the private island with wanderlust's mood. We drove for more than 3.5 hours from the skye to the house and then spent more than 2 hours back to Inverness. When we got there, it's heavy rain at 8 in the evening. Lan said that he could prepare us with a lobster for 12 pounds friendly. I was grateful for the cooking and the delicious lobster he offered us. But I have to say the night was hardest to get through because of the coldness and orders of the sheet and quilt. We changed from the small room to the big room but still cold and odorous. At 10am in the morning we are asked to leave out of the island at once. It's incredible that we can't even take pictures or stay in the island for a while. It was raining and we just got up for the poor sleep and long drive. Also because of the rain we have no experience but to drive back. I experienced quiet a lot airbnb and had a good time with different kinds of landlord, in Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, America, Skye. I nearly cried in the morning not only because of the incomprehension, but also the rude manner. What's more, Lan said we mess up the room. We just put a small bag (which contains oranges in the fruit shop) with few peels of fruit on the sofa. Without any dirty left on the sofa or floor, I also made the bed and tidy up the big room. Punctuality is the good manner and right regulation; but it depends on the situation. When I spent a long time driving here in a bad weather, maybe we could leave out of the house and just walk around the island with permission. I may still recommend this B&B cause I believe it can provide with a good journey maybe with a two/three more days' living and good weather.

Weavers Cottage is a self-catering holiday cottage in Fearnmore near Applecross on the north-west coast of Scotland. A cosy, peaceful getaway with spectacular sea views. The drive to the cottage from either direction is stunning! An ideal base from which to explore the local area, or hole up for a relaxing break in an idyllic location.
Weavers Cottage is an open plan kitchen and lounge space with a double bedroom on the mezzanine above the lounge. There's also a double sofa bed in the sea facing sun room for additional guests. The kitchen is well equipped with all the basics, an electric hob, Rayburn hob/oven and microwave. The lounge is cosy with a multi fuel burner, whilst the oil fired Rayburn provides additional heating in the colder months. As well as books there is a DAB radio, bluetooth speaker with jack input, a TV (with USB input) & DVD player with a selection of movies for kids and adults. Some games are also available to provide entertainment on rainy days. You might find yourself gazing out to sea for hours from the sun room, and if you look for long enough you'll be likely to see seals on the rocks by the shoreline. The bathroom leads off the sunroom and has a bath with shower attachment plus a laundry area with washing machine and tumble dryer. Bed linen is provided - please request if you need towels. Please note that since the bathroom does lead off the sun room, the double sofa bed is not a separate bedroom, there is a curtain however to provide some privacy. Outside, the cottage has an area for BBQs and watching the sun go down. The local sheep might come and say hello!
The Applecross peninsula is simply beautiful, with a stunning view around each twist in the road. Take the mountain overpass which climbs up from Applecross and winds around to Lochcarron, or the coastal road along to Shieldaig - driving, cycling or walking in this area is a delight. There are a number of excellent eating establishments within easy driving reach including the renowned Applecross Inn, which is a 30 min drive away (or a 4 hour walk!). There is a small secluded bay 10mins walk from the house regularly populated by seals or for a larger beach Sand Bay is a 20min drive. Drive through Applecross and park at Ard-dhubh to make a short woodland walk to two secluded 'coral' beaches.
  • Thank you Roger, we had a great stay and enjoyed staying in and checking out your suggestions in the local area. My wife is a total neat & clean freak (her words) but the cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented, highly recommended. Best wishes, James & Wenwen

We have felt like we had found a little paradise where to rest! The view is stunning, the house is warm, clean and the bed is very comfy. Absolutely nothing to complain about! We will come back for sure to explore the area better. Thank you so much to you Karelia for welcoming us with so much attention and kindness! We loved staying at your lovely house! Carine & Xavier

Such a gorgeous, peaceful area, amazing cozy house, delicious breakfast! Perfect instructions to find the house. And Karelia and her husband also gave us so many precious tips of things to do around. Bed is SO comfy, cutest pets, everything perfectly clean. Definitely wanna go back! I would gladly go back to Scotland just to pay another visit :) Thank you for everything, Karelia!

  • We had a lovely weekend at Colonsay B&B in Arrina. Prior to our arrival we had useful information on the surrounding area and directions from Kalie and had no problem finding the place. Our room was comfortable and cosy and the heated bathroom floor was a bit of luxury! Our breakfasts were varied, to suit our requests, and we were very grateful that we were able to use the kitchen on the evenings when we did not want to eat out. The views from the sun lounge were breathtaking and constantly changing. Especially enjoyed the company of the cats and dog. Kalie was a great host - she was more than willing to give advice on walks and other activities and answer all our questions about the area. All in all a beautiful place to unwind and experience a completely different way of life - rare today.

  • We had such a wonderful stay at Christine’s Bothy. A wonderful warm welcome and the cosiest of accommodation with so many thoughtful touches, including storage under the bed and sofa and gorgeous Highland soap in the spotless bathroom. This is a stunning location and the bothy’s have been built with real sympathy to their woodland surrounding. Parking is right on the Loch side and in a breathtaking location. Christine kindly booked us a table at Gille Brighde for a late lunch; this couldn’t have been more welcome after a beautiful but wet coastland walk. Definitely book to eat here if you are staying, the food is locally sourced, made with love and of outstanding quality. A fire and great hospitality made for a perfect afternoon before a short walk up the hill to our Bothy. We enjoyed the total peace and solitude, playing cards, reading our books and enjoying the cosiness of the Bothy. Christine was a wonderful host and we loved meeting her and her two gorgeous dogs. Hope to return again to explore more of this incredible landscape from such a stunning base. What a fab start to the year!

  • If you are looking for a remote, peaceful and beautiful place to watch the weather change, relax and explore this remote part of the western Scottish coast, we unreservedly recommend the Old Post Office at Arrina.

  • I can not more highly recommend staying at the Old Post Office. If you are craving silence and the beauty of nature it will be perfect for you. It is wonderfully clean and comfortable with every thing you could possibly need. The view from the kitchen window is more incredible than you can imagine. The changing light is a tonic for the soul. The whole area is a nature lovers paradise, we saw so many wonderful firsts for us including sea eagles, stags, pine martens and golden eagles. We even saw dolphins in the Loch from the garden! What is also wonderful is that it's perfect for whatever you fancy doing, although it's a paradise for walking and exploring the area, you also need not go anywhere as you are surrounded by beauty at the cottage. The bench outside in the sunshine was glorious. Thank you again.

  • Awesome experience in the Old Post Office in Arrina! Anthony made it very easy and comfortable to reach the place, we only had to light a fire in the chimney when we first arrive after the road from Edimburgh. The house is very cosy, isolated from the outside world and the view is fantastic. Deers, sheeps, sea eagles...were our companions during this restful week.

    Romain2014-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful spot and the view from the kitchen/dining room across the Loch to Diabaig and Ben Aligin is stunning. Nice cosy open fires with plenty of logs and kindling. Lots to do on and around the Applecross Peninsula especially if you like outdoor, walking, biking, kayaking etc. Applecross Inn is a must. Lovely place to stay.

    Jules2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our family stayed at the old post office for five nights and really enjoyed it. The location is spectacular and the house itself very nice (not fancy but great character). If you are looking for a quiet stay in a beautiful area, this fits the bill. I should add that it is very remote, driving times will be much longer than anticipated and the roads are narrow, twisty, hilly and single track - not for the faint of heart!

    Peter2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely rustic cottage right on the idyllic Scottish Coast! Situated right by Skye and near the best seafood, at the Applecross Inn...the Old Post Office was a memorable vacation for us all ! Thank you, Anthony!

  • We had a fantastic time at the enchanting Old Post Office! The cottage was situated beautifully and provided all the comfort! The views were magnificent and I would recommend everyone to stay here!

  • Wonderful stay at The old post office. Beautiful, cosy, well equipped cottage with all the home comforts. Stunning views and very peaceful. Anthony was a wonderful host. He was extremely reponsive and accommodating. We had lots of wonderful walks - even in the winter the weather allowed great hikes - where we saw seals, sea eagles and stags. There's also a great book collection and a puppy came to visit which was my personal highlight. We will definitely be coming back!

  • Communication was prompt and informative. Excellent directions provided, and access to the property easy. The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lots of basic essentials available in fridge and on shelf for our arrival. Thank you. Felt like home instantly! The fact that there wasn't wifi was actually a bonus! Phone signal wasn't available either... another bonus! Although we didn't meet Christine, Mandy was on site and had everything in hand. As we mentioned to her at departure, we will certainly recommend this cosy hide-away to friends, and will be returning as soon as possible. Thank you for sharing this accommodation and this friendly community. Loved the banter at the pub... food was great too! Day of departure came too soon. Could have stayed on...

  • This place is great and very comfortable! The room is big. Christine is a nice host, she gave us good advices and what to do around and you should definitely buy the smoked salmon she does. We had a little accident with a shampoo bottle openning in a suit case but we have been able to use the washing machine. There is a funny smell in the bathroom. The village is really beautifull too and there is a great restaurant where you can get seafood for few pounds

    Shieldaig, Scotland, United Kingdom

A comfortable artist's 2 bedroom cottage in a spectacular village setting (situated in Wester Ross on the Scottish mainland) with panoramic views over Loch Shieldaig. Walking distance to the local shop, restaurant and bar. Ideal base for touring, walking, cycling, fishing and canoeing.
Easily managed with amazing views, the house is extremely comfortable for four guests. The lounge and kitchen are open planned. The lounge furniture can be easily rearrange to suit guest's needs and comfort. The central heating is powered by the multi-fuel stove but there are also electric wall heaters as an alternative or as back up if required.
Shieldaig is ar the heart of the spectacular landscape of Torridon to the north and Lochcarron and Kyle of Lochalsh to the south. There is a wealth of spectacular walks, from gentle coastal trails to more challenging climbs to munro summits. 'Torridon Sea Tours' provided boat trips from the village pier with opportunities to view sea eagles, cruise Loch Torridon or visit the Hebridean Island of Rona. Seals and occasionally dolphins visit the bay. If you are lucky you may also see the otters that have a holt near the village pier. The Applecross peninsula is within easy traveling distance as is Loch Maree and Gairloch.
  • An absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Hugh ensured that the booking and confirmation process went really smoothly, and there was lots of information in the cottage about things to do in the surrounding area. Shieldaig is remote and beautiful, with stunning scenery all around, but with plenty of things to do within a short drive in every direction. The cottage itself is wonderfully equipped, and the artwork on the walls is just stunning. This was our first time using airBnB, and if all landlords are as organised and generous as Hugh, we'll definitely be back again.

  • Wow......if you want to stay in a home that's as beautiful to the eye and every step taken is as wonderful and interesting as those taken outside, then this is the place for you. The art... the odd little pieces collected over time... the littlest things that you might not even notice until right before you leave are a delight. and gave us many debates and conversations. From the Selkies (my mum remembered the stories told as a child), to the broken piece of crockery on the wall beside the phone,.....too many to list. Explore this home as you would the countryside outside, for it is equally intriguing.

  • Hugh's place is simply lovely. Great views out over the water, fabulous art on the walls, lots of books and dvds if you're staying in by the log burning stove. The location means there's lots of walking or cycling right from the door. We enjoyed a couple of meals at the Shieldaig Bar and Costal Kitchen, which is just steps away. While we didn't meet Hugh, accessing the cottage was simple and a neighbour popped round to check everything was ok. Highly recommended for a visit to the NW Highlands.

  • Hugh`s place is perfect, just as pictured: cosy, great views, well-equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, comfortable beds, tastefully decorated, big CD and DVD collection, fire place. Surrounded by a picturesque village. We think, the Scottish Tourist Board should give him the Platinum Award! Even after returning soaking wet from Ben Shieldaig at 14 °C in August, we feel like we couldn´t have picked a better place for our vacation.

    Joachim2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Hugh's place was absolutely amazing! We had amazing weather the whole time we were there :) would definitely recommend people to book this place! Lots of walks in close proximity for all levels :)

    Craig2016-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house in an excellent location. Everything you could need was available in respect of facilities & Hugh's decor was right up my street. We saw an otter, seals, a porpoise, a sea eagle & a variety of garden birds from Hugh's window and an array of amazing sunsets and ever changing water patterns & colours. Hopefully return in future sometime.... happy holidaymakers:-)

  • A lovely comfortable and warm house with a great view made even better by being surrounded by interesting art, books and maps and a very well equipped kitchen. Shieldaig is an excellent base with walks for all levels of ability and pubs and cafes within easy reaching distance. Lots of wildlife - we saw golden eagles, sea eagles, dolphins, gannets and otters! Would definitely recommend and would like to return.

Friendly hosts with lots of information on cycle and walking routes, places of interest and local highlights. Tom is a mountain and kayak guide and adventures during your stay can be pre-booked via Shieldaig Adventures. com Please note that we have two dogs who are very friendly but will bark on your arrival and a cat who share the house with us too :) We recommend booking your evening meal in advance if not cooking your own. We are in a beautiful wee village in the Torridon area of the West coast with less than 100 residents. We have a small shop in the village for essentials, Nanny's cafe open from April to October, a pub/restaurant, a smokehouse (mmm salmon), a pottery and Shieldaig Adventures for sea kayaking, guided walks, archery and kayak hire.
  • Emily and Tom are great hosts and great company . The house is very clean and has WiFi . Communication on our needs ahead of the trip was very good with secure storage of our bicycles being provided . Also as we had a Sunday stop we knew the local shop would be closed by the time we arrived so Emily bought provisions ahead for our tea . Having cooking facilities in a B&B is a real treat . Emily & Tom also have 2 adorable ultra friendly whippets and an aging cat but people with allergies to cats and dogs should be aware of that . Sheildaig is well worth exploring or just stopping off , you'll miss it if you zip off down the "main road" . I would highly recommend Emily and Tom's B&B .

  • What lovely people. We were welcomed into their home like friends. Allowed to prepare and eat our own food and Emily made sure we had everything we needed. Tom has a great knowledge of the area and wildlife, places to walk, swim etc and he runs an adventure company doing kayaking so we hope to go back and have some fun on the loch with him soon . The dogs are friendly too. Great value.

  • Stunning location, wonderful hosts, incredible value for money. Emily and Tom were great, really friendly and made us feel at home straight away. The scenery here is simply superb and some of the most amazing views I've seen anywhere! 100% worth a visit!

  • The best Airbnb experience we had so far!! Emily and Tom were perfect hosts, their pets super lovely and their house was clean and comfy. We were warmly welcomed and got offered tea whenever coming home. We felt like home and regretted that we stayed there only for two nights. Emily and Tom had many suggestions for hiking routes for us, which we really appreciated. Thank you for everything and stay as humorously and open-minded as we got to know you! Hope to meet up again sometimes. Fynn&Lea

  • The house is in a very spectacular part of Scotland and its huge windows give you an ever changing view of a beautiful sea loch. Yes, it rained on and off for the week but we still went on long walks and explored the area- the house has spin dryers if cloths get damp. A well equipped house right on the waters edge in a friendly village- small shop, pub (great beer), fish stall and smokehouse. A Tesco delivery a must as super markets too far away. Food in the pub fine if you don't fancy cooking - though a bit bland and pricey. Great place for kids and a dog to run free (keeping an eye out for the sheep).

  • A very comfortable and functional home in an amazing location, great for an outdoors holiday with young children. The mountains and lochs were stunning and we saw the sea eagles flying above the uninhabited island in the loch. Sheildaig is a very special village, we had a great week.

A beautiful situation within the magical Gairloch area in the Scottish Highlands. The bungalow offers the perfect place for exploring this stunning area.
  • We spent four nights at Anns place in Port Henderson over Easter and had a lovely stay there. The bungalow is very spacious with lots of room for the four of us or if there were a couple more. The home is so clean, modern, comfortable and very nicely decorated. View from two bedrooms and lounge is superb. Kitchen was fully equipped with all that was needed, although there is no freezer. But there is a washing machine and dishwasher etc. Lots of parking and fabulous table tennis in the garage which we all enjoyed every day! The children really enjoyed wondering in the garden which was fenced in. We had a great time exploring the area with daytrips to Ullapool which is stunning and Gairloch. Pony trekking is only four miles away from Ann's place too at Red Point. The information folder was very helpful and gave us all our ideas! Ann was great at communicating even before our stay, and she gave us really clear directions which we needed even with our Tomtom when we first arrived. A very enjoyable happy and relaxing visit many thanks

  • An incredible location with stunning views of the loch! Nigel and Jan had a fire started when we arrived, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless. Nigel and Jan gave recommendations for places or things to see and were great hosts. The Cottage had everything we needed. A town with a few shops is just a few minutes away for groceries or drinks. It is a drive and in an isolated area, but we would absolutely return and recommend a few nights stay!

    Courtney2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nigel and Jan’s place is wonderful and we would absolutely recommend a stay here to switch off, recharge and explore the amazing surroundings. The location is stunning, on the banks of the loch, with amazing views out of all of the windows. So much care and consideration has gone into the design, layout and interior of the cottages. There are two cottages next door to each other but they are very private. They are connected via a shared boot room which is a great and functional addition (perfect for letting the dog dry off after a long walk!). Thank you again for a lovely stay!

    Joelle2018-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best appointed and finished cottages we have stayed in. Two en-suite bedrooms is quite a rarity and the boot/drying/dog room was amazing. The views are wonderful and the hosts very friendly and helpful. Quite remote, so you would struggle without a car. We also took the boat trip out of Shieldaig to see the Sea Eagles - who actually made an appearance! A very pleasant stay.

    John2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage has everything you need for an amazing stay and to come away completely chilled. The long weekend we had felt like we'd been away a month. From the welcome you get through to the stunning scenery, everything is made even more special by the comfort of the cottage. The design and layout has been really well thought through and is such a calming place. We can't recommend this place enough.

    Karen2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The photos fail to do justice to the place. It is way more prettier than what can be noted from the pictures. Nigel & Jan are excellent hosts - prompt with responses, welcoming and proactively helpful. Each evening they had set the fire in the fireplace to keep the rooms warm even before we arrived. The cottages are very tastefully done with all necessary amenities available and Nigel personally walked up to our cottage to help if we had any issues at all. We travelled with our pet dog, Cookie during Christmas and found a Christmas cookie for our dog, Cookie left at the kitchen counter by them alongwith Christmas cakes for us. A highly recommended place.

    Padma2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Luxurious and cosy cottage, beautiful lake and mountain views, great location for exploring Strathcarron, Applecross, Torridon, etc.

    Pulakit2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was suggested that the scenery may be enough. It most certainly was- awe inspiring does not do justice to the place. The house itself is special- exactly as advertised. Fittings are above the standard expected and small touches such as the home baked shortbread made the stay special. I wanted to escape for a few days and this place achieved this perfectly. There are some lovely places around and we did visit these. All in all a perfect place. I want to go back.

    Jules2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Truly amazing! The location is breathtaking but the cottage is perfect. One of the most stylish places I've stayed, the beds you barely want to get out of they are so comfortable. Everything is of the highest spec and caters for all your needs. A wonderfully stocked kitchen and great coffee. Perfect to have breakfast on the veranda over-looking the views of the loch. I will be back (if there are any spaces as this place will be booked regularly). Thank you Nigel and Jan...wonderful welcome, stay and farewell

  • We had a great long weekend at Rechullin. The location is perfect for relaxation and access to the outdoors, remote but easy to find even in the pitch dark! The house was clean and tidy and the kitchen stocked with all the necessities. Great outdoor space for the kids to play and explore right on the doorstep.

  • A fantastic comfortable little house in a delightfully remote location. If you want to truly get away from city life for a short time, this is the place. The views are incredible!

  • Great base to explore the stunning scenery of Torridon.

  • Beware: be prepared to a very damp and cold first evening and night. When you'll arrive, probably with both wind and rain, the radiators will be off. After this test you'll feel like in paradise. There is all you need in the house (even a telephone, just in case), fruits are waiting for you in the garden, the location is fabulous. Just go!

  • Wonderful place to stay . Have a great few days exploring the Torridon hills. Highly recommended.

    Timothy2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is small and cosy but enough to fit a family and have a great time. You have everything you need from kitchen equipment to games for long winter nights. The location is just stunning, perfect place for hike-lovers. Thank you for having us, we will definitely be back!

  • We spend a great 5 days at Rechullin as Donald's first Airbnb guests. Unforgettable time ****** and I know what I'm talking about because we are frequent Scottish Highlands visitors. Highly recommend! Thanks Donald

Solas has double room and twin and is in the beautiful fishing village of Shieldaig on the North West coast of Scotland. 15 mins from the Torridon mountains and 45 mins from Applecross. We are 5 mins walk to the sea front and beach. There is a mountain view from the garden.
Solas is a modern architect designed house in the North West Highlands of Scotland. The room has a wooden floor, underfloor heating and lots of natural light. There is a sofa and small dining table and chairs within the room. We have a second bedroom available for an extra two people to stay as part of the same group. This has twin beds and you share the large private bathroom.
Incredible views, wilderness, wildlife. We are on the newly mapped North Coast 500 which takes in some of Scotland's most stunning coastal scenery.
  • Great place to stay! Perfect hosts! 100% recommended!

  • Our stayin Shieldag was nice. The owner Lisa was not there but Lucy was there as our host. The house is very nice and the room clean. The adjacent bathroom is good. The town is small and unfortunately there was no restaurant serving after nine pm. Lucy was very hospitable to improvise us dinner. Location is practicle if u want to go hiking or even drive to Isle of Skye. I can recommend Lisa's B&B.

  • A very lovely place to stay, a large and cozy en suite guest room which is seperatly situated in the house and last but not least a very sympathetic and cordial host. Peter is wonderful in preparing meals. His breakfast is outstanding. He offered us to prepare a dinner for us as well which we were pleased to accept. It was delicious!

  • This is a great little B&B which was perfect for our family of 4. Peter is a fantastic host and made us all very welcome. Delicious breakfast, comfortable beds and a great location.

  • Great room, Plenty of space. Great location for hill walking. Clean. 5 mins walk from Shieldaig. Friendly hosts.

  • Unforgettable breakfast which included Homemade breads & preserves! Make sure you're hungry if ordering the full Scottish

    Margo2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was a wonderful host, very kind and accommodating. I thought the drive to the B & B was a bit long on narrow roads but once we arrived we were very pleased with the B & B and the scenery was spectacular.

  • We spent two enjoyable nights at Solas and it proved to be the ideal staging post for our first visit to the Torridon Hills. The house is situated in a small residential road set just back from the coast. It's about a five minute walk down to the Shieldaig front, which offers attractive views and quite a nice bar/restaurant. The room at Solas was comfortable and we were very well catered for by Lisa, who is really nice and welcoming.

  • My 3 friends and I spent one night at Mary's place. Applecross is a wonderful place, and the bnb allows to enjoy the village at its fullest. We were welcomed pleasently and helped in finding a place to have dinner. The rooms are big, cozy and clean, each with a private bathroom. Breakfast was great and rich. We are still enthusiastic about the experience, we do totally recommend it to anyone!

  • Really nice place, very quiet. Henry and Mary are both very warm welcoming and provided many useful local information.

    Aaron2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is a true B&B, in which Mary and her husband live downstairs. Guest rooms are upstairs, and there is a private living room with fireplace, books and comfortable seating for guests to use downstairs. There are three guest rooms, so if you're only taking one or two, you might have others sharing the upstairs space, but bathrooms are all private, so you won't have to share. Mary made us a filling breakfast the next day of eggs, sausages, fruit and toast that kept us going for hours afterward. The drive to her house is a one-lane road that switch-backs up through the mountains and comes out the other side. I highly recommend completing your drive during daylight. Once through to the other side, you are in the middle of nowhere, but there is a lovely pizza bar and a store only 3 minutes from Mary's. We checked in around 7 pm, went back for pizza and a few pints, then headed back to Mary's for a good night's sleep.

  • Nice and cosy apartment and very welcoming host. Has a great view overlooking the green fields. Would highly recommend to stay here if you are doing the NC 500. Just a headsup: It is difficult getting mobile connection in Applecross, so coordinate in advance on checkin and location.
