Due to the current situation I would be very prepared to give big reductions for anyone who would like to come and stay, it’s a wonderful place to isolate yourselves, it will be deep cleaned wonderful walks, beautiful garden, tennis court and hairdressers and beauty treatments good WiFi.
The accommodation is situated in a beautiful garden, very quiet and peaceful, ideal for a getaway from the city. Near the accommodation you will find a small garden for your own use with a table and chairs under the apple tree, where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. There is also a beauty spa open all week called Lifestyle Health and Beauty which has all the latest treatments. We would like to encourage people who are working in the area to take our accommodation as it's near Cheltenham, Swindon, Bath and not far from Bristol.
Hankerton is a small Cotswold village between Malmesbury and Tetbury. Swindon Bath and Cheltenham are near. Nearby Malmesbury is an historic town with a wonderful Abbey that you might wish to visit. You may also like to see the gardens tended by the celebrated naked gardeners next door! A little further, Tetbury has some wonderful antique shops and delicatessens to browse and the famous Highgrove Shop, which is well worth a visit. Within ten miles is the market town of Cirencester, which is at the heart of the Cotswolds and there are many shops and an interesting Roman museum. For water sports, one can enjoy an abundance of activities such as sailing, jet ski, kite surfing and fishing around the many lakes of the Cotswold Water Parks, a few miles away.
  • Sweet little cottage in the countryside. Rowena is a great hostess -- quick to reply to any messages and full of advice and suggestions for things to do. There are good pubs within walking distance. Having a car is definitely a plus if you want to do much exploring in the area beyond the immediate fields, though, we managed without one. While most of our walks were cut short by flooded fields, it was nice to explore the area and great to come back to the cottage to warm up with tea, brownies, and a good foot soak.

  • Great place to stay ☺️

    Anthony2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful visit! The cottage was well appointed and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Rowena was a very pleasant and helpful host. The local area is quiet and beautiful but not too far away from amenities. This was a perfect, quiet, relaxing and comfortable stay and is highly recommended for those wanting a ‘getaway’ from the big cities.

    Ian2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely couple of nights stay that we had at Rowena’s place. The cottage was lovely and very cosy. Everyone on the estate was very friendly and we couldn’t ask for a better time!

  • We can highly recommend this place. Everything was perfect. We stayed there in December : The property was lovely and warm and I loved the fact that there was a bath with plenty of hot water: Great for after going on a hike across the fields. The homemade brownies were scrummy. The lodge is sparkling clean. As I have said, just perfect.

Annabel was a super host and kindly allowed my mother to stay a little longer on the check out day as she wasn’t feeling well. Thank you Annabel for your wonderful hospitality!

  • We had a lovely stay at Veronica’s studio. She was incredibly helpful with tips on where to go and what to do in the Cotswolds. The studio was perfect for chilling out in the evenings on a recliner sofa in front of the telly, and it was great to have a kitchen to cook our own food and save some money. The shower was great and we had a really comfy bed to sleep in too. Veronica also kindly left us biscuits, coffee and milk. Thank you for a wonderful stay Veronica! All the best, from Sophie and Sam

  • Wonderful hosts who are very generous and accommodating. We stayed for 2 months and they were always trying to make our stay as stress-free as possible. The area is well located with great travel links despite feeling very peaceful. Charles is full of tips for the local area, oh and the dogs are very friendly!

    Abby2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stylish & comfortable barn conversion within reach of all the Cotswold villages. The barn is in peaceful surroundings so won’t be disturbed at all.. Your very helpful hosts will be very happy to help out with any questions at any point.

    Melvin2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little space, very cosy and perfect for a trip for two! Charles is a brilliant host and the barn is in a great condition. Highly recommended!

    Marianne2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed for a month whilst in the area for business, and found a welcoming and relaxed environment with all the facilities needed to be comfortable staying 'home'. Charles was on hand if needed to answer questions about the area and give tips - but after a long day, the perfect way to spend the evening was with a home cooked meal, a log fire and a good internet connection! Charles and Ali were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

    Judith2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real hidden gem and the perfect base to explore the wonderful Cotswolds. Charles is a very friendly host and has good knowledge of the area. The converted barn was perfect for me and my husband and our small dog. It is finished very nicely and was well equipped for our stay. The kitchen area was open plan with a small table and 2 chairs. Leading down stairs to an amazing wet room with heated floor. Then into a very spacious bedroom with wonderful views, we saw Deer every morning. The only slight downside was the radiator had been broken by a previous guest. We were provided with a small oil radiator which was ok but probably wouldn’t be enough during colder nights. The cosy lounge had a log burner which throws out lots of heat. The furniture could do with updating as we felt it let down the rest of the cottage. Overall we had a very nice, relaxing break and would definitely recommend this lovely place.

    Debbie2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this at very short notice and were very pleased overall with our stay. Charles was quick to reply and despite us arriving late due to travel, came and met us at the door and showed us around the cottage aswell as giving us tips for visiting local area. As we arrived in the dark it was slightly difficult to find but we followed the directions charles had sent and found our way fairly quickly. Cottage was warm and cosy with the added benefit of a fireplace for the evenings, the heated floor in the bathroom was particularly appreciated! It was in a lovely location with plenty of nearby walks which were great especially with the dog. Would have happily stayed for a few more days!

    Grace2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely comfortable and beautifully converted barn in a perfect location for exploring the cotswolds and Wiltshire. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay. Would recommend to all. Thanks again.

As well as a wide choice of shops, there is a regular farmers' market - held at the historic Market Cross every Friday from 9am to 3pm - a library, museum and leisure centre with pool. Malmesbury is well-equipped with a plethora of independent stores, eateries and supermarkets, making catering for your stay at 27 Horsefair a breeze. For a special treat in the morning, head left out of the front door to the end of the road and you will reach Michael’s Bistro and Deli, offering fantastic breakfasts, as well as a fresh butcher’s counter with award winning sausages! You could also visit Hobbs House Bakery (5-minute walk) for a fresh loaf, pastry or piping hot coffee! Health food lovers should also pop their heads into The Wild Food Company on the High Street, where a host of healthy, organic and vegetarian goodies can be found. Malmesbury town centre is home to a Co-Operative Food and Premier Express, whilst a larger Waitrose store sits just on the outskirts of the town; a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the cottage. Tetbury, 15-minutes by car from 27 Horsefair, is home to a Tesco superstore. • Waitrose - Malmesbury bypass, Malmesbury SN16 9FS • Tesco Superstore - Priory Rd Industrial Estate, London Rd, Tetbury GL8 8HZ • The Co-Operative Food - Gloucester Rd, Malmesbury SN16 9JS • Premier Express - 4 Market Cross, Malmesbury SN16 9AS Malmesbury boasts an impressive variety of great pubs, cafés and restaurants to suit whatever you fancy, many of which are within walking distance of 27 Horsefair’s front door. For a relaxed bite to eat or celebratory drink or two, head to The Smoking Dog – an honest pub with great grub owned by Butcombe Brewery, just a 10-minute walk from the cottage on Malmesbury’s High Street, The King’s Arms – or the Rose and Crown; a stylish country inn and locals’ favourite, just outside of Malmesbury’s centre in the pretty village of Lea (5-minute drive). For daytime bites, the famed Hobbs House Bakery (5-minute walk) offers a fantastic daily selection of fresh sandwiches, sweet treats and coffee, whilst The Summer Café (5-minute walk) boasts a brilliant breakfast menu as well as quiches, salads and sandwiches for lunch; topped off brilliantly with a giant slice of freshly-baked cake. Connoisseurs of Italian cuisine won’t be disappointed by La Campagna or The Birdcage (both a 5-minute walk), a traditional Italian eatery famed for its pizzas, named in homage to Malmesbury’s winding streets. Or try The Old Bell Hotel, England’s oldest hotel, which offers a great Modern British menu. For those looking for a good Indian restaurant, Spice Merchant is just a 10 to 15-minute walk out of the town centre and also offers a takeaway service but does not deliver. Slightly further afield, those in search of a memorable feast need look no further than The Dining Room at Whatley Manor, just a 10-minute drive from the cottage, where Michelin-starred dining courtesy of celebrated chef Niall Keating comes to life in an exceptional setting. Slightly more affordable, but just as impressive, is The Rectory Hotel in nearby Crudwell (10-minute drive), serving up traditional dishes with a modern twist in the boutique hotel’s elegant dining room, whilst sister pub The Potting Shed over the road offers a more relaxed alternative for foodies with a real country-pub vibe.

Highly recommend The Birdcage for pizza and Hobbs House Bakery for baked goods and coffee, both within walking distance. We had no problems at all with the property and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future.

Handcrafted & thermally insulated shepherds hut with double bed, can be used all year around with wood burning stove to keep you warm & cosy during the winter months. It is wonderfully romantic. Come & relax, enjoy the peace, see the stunning sunsets, watch the deer across the field next to your 'own' secluded wooded space. It's a rustic experience.. the loo is no more than 200 yards away, & a bowl and pitcher is provided for a wash! Water heated by either the kettle provided or the log burner.
There are electricity sockets for phone charging. WiFi is not available but can be accessed in the vicinity of the yard/office. Water is in a 15 litre container, refillable a short walk away. Tea and coffee provided & a full English breakfast will be brought to you in the morning! If the weather is inclement, there are two folding chairs & a table at which to enjoy your breakfast, inside the hut. Please remember, we run a timber yard from our premises, making bespoke timber buildings, and therefore it is at its most peaceful here on a Saturday evening / Sunday! There is limited hot water in the loo but there is no provision for a shower and therefore 2 nights max suggested for everyone's benefit!...all part of the 'experience'!
There are some super walks in and around Tockenham, a peaceful village with a church and village bar on a Saturday evening.
  • This hut exceeded all expectations! We visited on a very windy weekend but this did not affect our trip at all as we were cosy and warm with the log burner burning! The hut was sparkling clean and had lovely little touches which made it so welcoming. The location is perfect for a relaxing stay and the added bonus was the incredible full English breakfast we had brought to us both mornings! The toilet is not a long walk at all from the hut and I 100% would recommend this place to anyone looking to access the countryside or Bath/ Bristol!

They lit the fire before we got there so the Hut was nice and warm for our arrival which was a nice touch. Lovely breakfast too. I will happily recommend this place to friends and family - Thanks again!

  • If you want to have a night away from the outside world this is the place for it ! Lush log burner, beautiful views and cosy surroundings. The hut was so clean and very comfortable even in the middle of November. Breakfast next day was absolutely delicious and brought to you in the hut. Highly recommend and will be returning !

    Scott2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s was a good host with very quick responses and communicated with us great up to and during our stay. The hut was very warm and cosy once the fire kicked in, and the breakfast was delicious too. Plenty of basic comforts such as plug sockets, tea/coffee and towels were available during our stay too.

    Harry2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We just needed somewhere to stay after attending a local wedding but this place surpassed my expectations. Beautiful, comfortable and lots of thoughtful touches. The fire was lit for our return, breakfast was perfection and they were even kind enough to drop my husband back to our car up the road! Couldn’t recommend more highly!

Old Garden House is a recently renovated house with 2 rooms available, in the middle of the pretty village of Brokenborough, on a single track road just one mile from the ancient market town of Malmesbury. The twin room which is suitable for children or adults is cosy and comfortable with its own en-suite walk-in shower room. There are extensive views and many good walks from the house. The local pub 'The Horseguards' which provides good meals is a short walk away.
Old Garden House is a spacious airy house with 2 rooms available, the twin room and a Kingsize room, both with en-suite facilities. The house is set back from the lane and overlooks it's pretty garden to the rear. The rooms are large and airy with fitted cupboards for hanging space and chest of drawers to store clothes, each with private en-suite bath or shower rooms. It has been recently renovated so has modern insulation which keeps the house cool in Summer, warm in Winter. There is a large family kitchen where breakfast is served, and guests may help themselves to tea and coffee. Double glazed doors lead onto the terrace where guests may sit in the Summer, and there is a sitting room with TV which guests may use. Outside there is ample off-road parking. The property is well placed for visits to many attractions; Westonbirt National Arboretum, the gardens at Highgrove, events in Malmesbury and Tetbury, Polo at Westonbirt and Cirencester, motor racing at Castle Combe, Badminton Horse Trials and many more. There are many local pubs and restaurants, including our very own 'local' The Horseguards, a short walk down the lane.
We are one mile from the ancient market town of Malmesbury, well known as the home of Dyson Research and Development in the UK. The Abbey is well worth a visit, and has a memorial to King Athelstan who was based here in Malmesbury, and was the first King of Wessex, and round the corner from the Abbey are the Abbey gardens, a delight to wander round. There are musical events, concerts in the Abbey, and the WOMAD festival weekend is held in July. Many other events take place, a Kite Festival, History week-end, a visit to the Tourist Office in the Town Hall will give more information on the town and the area. Nearby there is Westonbirt Arboretum, glorious in the Spring and Autumn, lovely at all times of year, with music festivals available, and the Christmas Wonderland in December weekends, with trees lit up at night with fantastic colours. The gardens at Highgrove are nearby, and the Highgrove shop is in the middle of Tetbury, just 3 1/2 miles away. There are also many other gardens open to the public in the Summer. There is motor racing at the Castle Combe circuit, which is one of the prettiest villages in England, Polo at Westonbirt where the Princes can sometimes be found playing, and Cirencester, Golf at Westonbirt, Castle Combe and Minchinhampton, Horse Trials at Badminton and Gatcombe Park. Cirencester holds a two day Country Fair, and there are many more local attractions.

This bright and spacious hideaway has a family bathroom with bath and shower, private parking for two cars and welcomes one well-behaved dog*.
*Dogs: 1 well-behaved dog is welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction The Leat is a peaceful riverside hideaway within walking distance of the charming and historic market town of Malmesbury, which dates back to the Iron Age. History lovers will enjoy visiting the hometown of King Athelstan, first king of all England (924-927), and the 12th Century abbey as well as England’s oldest hotel – Abbey House Gardens. The top floor is where the property really comes to life thanks to its bright, spacious open-plan layout, where a small but perfectly formed kitchen leads into an attractive living area, flooded with natural light thanks to a series of skylights in the eaves. The real gem of the property is the small balcony leading from the living area; a private al fresco nook is complete with outdoor bistro set, where you can happily while away the hours soaking up the sunshine with a cup of coffee, relax with a good book or simply sit and enjoy the views to the gentle soundtrack of the River Avon flowing beneath. Head up a short flight of steps to: Bedroom One The first room you come to as you ascend the staircase when entering the cottage is the master bedroom; a snug double perfect for couples, with a 6ft zip and link bed that can be made into twin beds should you need. Making good use of the cottage’s staggered layout, an attractive country-cream décor is brought to life by contemporary pops of blue alongside artwork of Malmesbury through the ages, evoking a sense of the cottage’s rich history as the town’s historic water mill. A small en-suite shower room with hand basin and toilet offers guests a good amount of privacy, plus there’s a full-height wardrobe for convenient storage. Following on up the staircase from Bedroom 1 to: First Floor Bedroom Two The cottage’s second bedroom is a spacious twin room that can be converted to a 6ft bed should you prefer. Bursting with light thanks to a bright bay window that overlooks the river below, here the cottage’s heritage shines through the exposed ceiling beams, with vibrant red fabrics giving an elegant pop of colour to the classic country colour palette. There’s a spacious double wardrobe and handy additional chest of drawers, plus a large bay window; the perfect spot to watch the river as it flows beneath. Head up the stairs to The Leat’s main living space: Second Floor The Kitchen/Dining/Living Area Found up the winding staircase on the cottage’s top floor is the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area; a light, bright space with views from every angle, offering a cosy spot to whip up a feast and put your feet up after a busy day exploring the winding honey-stoned streets of Malmesbury. A compact but well-equipped kitchen area greets you as you enter the space, with wooden worktops, slate flooring and country-cream units complementing the cottage’s heritage expertly. Perfectly kitted out with all you’ll need for a self-catered stay, there’s an electric hob/oven, microwave, small extendable dining table and plenty of cookware and crockery to make use of, plus a washing machine and freezer tucked out of sight in a small utility room at the top of the stairs. Leading on from the kitchen is the spacious living area, brightly lit by skylights and windows from every angle which flood the space with natural light. Attractive leather seating gives the living space a cool, contemporary feel, whilst exposed beams and country cream hues evoke a feeling of countrified elegance. Here, you can sit back and relax together (views into the kitchen mean that the cook of the group never has to feel isolated from the rest), or unwind in front of the TV, with plenty of DVDs to choose from. A set of small French doors at the far end of the room open up onto a pretty balcony area complete with outdoor dining set; the perfect place to enjoy the views of the river below, tuck into an al fresco feast or watch a traditional game of bowls, courtesy of Malmesbury Bowls Club next door. Family Bathroom An attractive white-tiled family bathroom, at the stairs end of the living area, features a bath and full-height shower, toilet and basin, flooded with light thanks to a bright Velux window. Outside The Leat is the ideal middle-ground for those looking for a peaceful escape with town on the doorstep, with everything you could need within walking distance. Forming the upper floors of the old Wynyard Mill, the River Avon lies at the very heart of the property (flowing directly underneath), framing the property’s frontage with beautiful riverside views. Although the cottage doesn’t have a garden, the upper floor’s balcony offers a welcome outdoor space where you can relax and enjoy the fantastic sights and sounds of the river flowing beneath. Malmesbury’s town centre is just a (very) short stroll over a traditional stone bridge from the cottage’s front door, as are numerous walks along public footpaths through the countryside that surrounds the town’s outer boundaries. A real benefit in this busy market town are the two parking spaces which come with the property, found on the driveway at the end of the Mill building.
Local amenities Although a car is beneficial for guests wanting to explore the wider Cotswolds area, The Leat’s location makes it perfect for those who’d prefer to leave the car at home during their stay. As well as a wide choice of shops, there is a regular farmers' market - held at the historic Market Cross every Friday from 9am to 3pm - a library, museum and leisure centre with pool. Food stores Malmesbury is well-equipped with a plethora of independent stores, eateries and supermarkets, making catering for your stay at The Leat a breeze. For a special treat in the morning, head to Hobbs House Bakery (5-minute walk) for a fresh loaf, pastry or piping hot coffee, before heading to Thomas of Malmesbury butchers (10-minute walk) for your fresh picks of the finest meat from across the region. Health food lovers should also pop their heads into The Wild Food Company on the High Street, where a host of healthy, organic and vegetarian goodies can be found. A warm welcome awaits you at the wagon cottage of the beautiful 16th century Somerford House, set in the Cotswolds close to Malmesbury & within easy access to Bath. Stunningly converted, the cottage retains key features of the original wagon shed.
For centuries the cottage was a wagon shed in the grounds of Somerford House. Wagons were parked at ground level and the floor above used for storing grain. Somerford House is a 400 year old Cotswold country farmhouse situated in the midst of a 5 acre holding in the centre of Little Somerford village, 3 miles south of ancient Malmesbury. The house has a beautiful garden, paddocks and ponds; also ample parking and stabling if required. The cottage is available for a minimum of three nights. In the main house we also have available a twin room and a double room with large shared main bathroom (incl. both bath and shower). Continental breakfast is provided. Just around the corner (less than a 5 minute walk) is our fabulous village pub (the Somerford Arms) that serves great food and buzzes every night – it is wise to book up in advance and we would be happy to do that for you for the night you arrive if you let us know.
Set in the beautiful countryside of the North Wiltshire / Gloucestershire border, Somerford House is within easy reach of Avebury, Badminton, Bath, Cirencester, Lacock, Westonbirt Arboretum and of course the Cotswolds. Whether it is pre-historic, Roman or medieval Britain; or more recent but wonderfully historic National Trust houses and gardens that most interest you, we are in the middle of a wide selection of all of them, and if you want to stay more than one night, daily trips in different directions will give you a wealth of visiting opportunities! For sports followers we are also conveniently close to Badminton and Princess Anne's Gatcombe for the horse trials; Cirencester and Beaufort for the polo; Castle Combe for motor racing; and of course Bath for the rugby.
  • A superb place, couldn’t recommend enough! We’ll be back!

    Max2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant location, with a deal of private space...... perfect for a quiet retreat, but near enough to many wonderful things.

    Philip2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and i had the most amazing stay at the Waggon Barn. The Wagon barn itself was spotless and was absolutely stunning inside. I can be very nit picky when it comes to finding the perfect place to stay, and i cant find one bad thing to say about this place. In such a beautiful location with so many gems to visit around we made memories for life. A big thank you to Victoria (Pats Daughter) for your incredible hospitality!

    Jack2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The wagon house was a one of a kind experience! The peaceful and beautiful setting was delightful. The nicely appointed home featured everything we needed for our family of five. Our children loved the grounds and made friends with the several cute dogs that abounded the property. Although we didn't get to meet Tony and Pat their warmth and hospitality was evident throughout. We thank them for a highlight of our kids's youth!

    Chris2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the chalet at Pat & Tony's over New Year's Eve. From the moment we arrived Pat invited us in from the rain, providing a lovely (and much needed) cup of coffee. The chalet is perfect for a getaway, great amenities and so comfortable (just watch your head!). We couldn't recommend it any more to the heading to the Cotswolds.

    Luke2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 3 days at the end of December, so not the best time of year. The Wagon House was a great find though and had everything with a sitting room, well equipped kitchen, shower room and nice bedroom - so a home from home. Pat was also very nice and helpful without being at all intrusive. Would certainly stay there again.

    Stephen2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • From the minute Pat and I engaged upon booking she was fantastic. Her communication was both prompt and helpful and when we arrived she was so welcoming and went above and beyond what we expected. The barn was amazing, the photos don't do it justice. We loved out stay and I put this mainly down to the property and Pat and of course the local area was amazing. Thank you!

    Paddy2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had wonderful 3 nights stay. Pat and Tony are so kind and warm hearted person. Plenty space in the cottage and is soptless clean in the kitchen and bathroom. Malmesbury riverside walk was magnificent, which is 5 mnuite drive from cottage. We really enjoyed nice sunny morning walk there. Hope to go back again sometime soon. Many thanks to Pat & Tony and dogs.

Not an ounce of pot-pourri in sight, but hotel-quality sparkling finish, bedding and water pressure. Better than the photographs. Highly recommended.

  • Great communication from Samantha right from the start, & she even messaged us on arrival day to say the property was ready so we could access it early which was really useful. Fabulously clean, bright & quiet accommodation. Very smart, comfortable place with loads of storage space & everything we needed for our stay. There was even bread, butter, eggs & milk left for us, as well as a selection of condiments & other household essentials like loo roll, soap & cleaning items. Would most definitely stay again if in the area & highly recommend.

    George2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Samanthas place is idyllic, this beautiful new build feels like a country cottage on the outside and inside is pristine with every amenity you could wish for. She even left us some milk and bread for the morning! Amazing communication and little helpful tips made the stay even more cosy and thoughtful. We even looked checked where the bedsheets were from as they were the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. Even after our stay we left something behind and Samatha went above and beyond to help us retrieve it. Honestly a 5* listing.
