The property is located in a cul de sac in a very quiet neighbourhood. Extremely close to shops and restaurants. Conveniently close to major access roads to Cape Town, wine routes and other surrounding historical towns in the Swartland.

    Wynand2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We booked last minute and got delayed due to getting lost on our bicycles. Susan arranged for a friend to pick us up because it was dark and taxi companies were closed due to Good Friday. Susan was an amazing host and went out of her way to help us, including calling all local restaurants to find out where we was open before we arrived and offered to drive us there because it was raining. Facilities were excellent and clean. Highly recommended.

An authentic farm hideaway, set against the slopes of the Paardeberg mountain, only 1 hour’s drive (75km) from Cape Town. Sleep in our converted farm Silo and enjoy amazing elevated views across the Swartland. Often booked as our 'Honeymoon room' this unit is perfect for that romantic weekend getaway or as a base from which to explore the area. Explore the vineyards, swim in the dams and and enjoy wide open spaces and fresh air amid the vines on our working, family owned wine farm.
Our original converted farm Silo consists of one open plan master bedroom with king size bed, luxury cotton linen and towels, air conditioning (for heat as well as cold) and small en-suite shower room with locally sourced, all-natural selection of bee product toiletries provided. Compact kitchenette equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave and under counter fridge. Complimentary coffee, teas, milk & sugar available as well as farm baked rusks, muesli and freshly baked bread for your first morning breakfast. We do have a Nespresso machine for your use and a complimentary pod is made available for each person. Should you wish to further make use of this machine please do bring extra capsules, otherwise we have good quality freshly ground coffee available for your enjoyment. There is a comfortable outside area in which to relax as well as an outdoor barrel braai and dining area. We do provide wood and firelighters, additional wood can be purchased from us at R50 per crate should you need extra. You are welcome to cool off in the small farm dam to the left of the silo, behind the rabbit pen. This is shared with the Stables accommodation. Please do use the pool towels provided in your room. The room is serviced daily from Monday to Saturday between 9am-11am, or at a time that is more convenient for you. If you would prefer not to make use of this service, or would rather we do not disturb you whilst staying in, then please do let us know and we will respect your privacy. We do not service the room on Sunday’s or Public Holidays, however should you wish to make use of extra cleaning services on these days, this can be arranged at an additional cost and paid in cash to your housekeeper directly. Other things to note We are a working farm (albeit a wine farm!) and we do love our animals! A paradise for those wanting a retreat from city life. Expect large and lazy dogs, horses, chickens, peacocks, parrots, guineafowl, turkeys and rabbits. You will most certainly be visited by the farm dogs, Appel, Sanka and Janis. If you feed and give them attention they will love it and come back for more (or never leave!) otherwise please call us and we will take them away if they become a nuisance. Important to note: Summer gets VERY hot! Wear a hat. Pack your cozzie. Suncreen is your friend! Autumn colours are very pretty. Pack a camera. Winter can get very cold and sometimes wet but the beauty of the canola fields in full flower is an experience not to be missed. Remember to wear practical shoes! Spring means pretty flowers and pollen. Bring your antihistamines. Bless you!
  • Incredible space and location – perfect shot to recharge and simply relax.

  • We stayed at AA Badenhorst for our one year engagement anniversary. Semma is a wonderful host, and left amazing little treats in the apartment for us. The farm is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful, and the facilities are well equipped (wood and firelighters set up for a braai, freshly baked bread in the flat, milk and butter in the fridge). We spent most of our time in the refreshing pool which was a godsend during the almost 40 degree heat! Thank you Semma and Charl!

    Darryn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The silo was a spectacular place to spend a few relaxing days. The design and attention to detail in the space was so lovely, and the farm/winery itself was beautiful and fun. If you are going during harvest season, be ready to be around a bustle of activity during the day, you’ll be the only ones without your hands full!

    Lindsay2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at The Silo and can happily recommend it to all that want ti live on a working wine farm. Cool place and great views.

    Daggan2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo was lovely to stay at. Semma and Charl have created a beautiful sanctuary that allows you to completely switch off. They provided some unexpected and thoughtful amenities that made our stay all the more special. We would certainly recommend this place to switch off from the world.

    Lebohang2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was an exceptional stay at the Silo and the AA Badenhorst Winefarm! The accommodation is perfect, the people are great and the wines are amazing. Thank you for the great experience!

    Dimitri2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Amazing hospitality! First rate all around

    Pierre2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Semma & Charl’s place is exactly as you see in the pictures. The farm is so serene and calm, and it has a lovely charming character. At night all you hear are the sounds of animals and insects. You can even have a lovely braai in the outside “courtyard” area and take in all the stillness. The room itself is wonderful: staying in the silo gave us amazing views over the Swartland. The location is great, near to Riebeeck Kasteel and Paarl. We would definitely stay here again!

Our lovely Guesthouse is situated in the heart of The Boland. Malmesbury, known for its Wine- and Wheat farms, is 50km from Cape Town, 25km from Riebeek Kasteel and just under a 100km from the West Coast. Situated right across the Highschool fields makes our Guesthouse ideal for Family or School trips. Or enjoy your morning brew under the patio while preparing for your Business meeting. Our little gem is equipped with all the basic needs for your stay while enjoying your privacy
  • What an amazing weekend stay. Queries was clearly answered with a prompt response. Ample and secure shaded parking available. Beds are comfortable with clean linen, both rooms are equipped with AC which was a delight as we experienced a 42’C weekend. The cottage have small little touches throughout that really over delivered on our expectations e.g. coffee, milk, rusks and soaps. The stoep area is perfect for sundowners after a day of exploring what Malmesbury and the surrounding Swartland has to offer. Jolene really went out of her way to ensure we had an amazing experience they even turned and refreshed our room every morning. Should you ever decide to visit the area, a stay at “Hartjie van die Boland” is well worth it and highly recommend.

These two little (very old... think 1891) outhouses have been lovingly restored and renovated. Designed to create an intimate stay, the bedroom leads straight out to a private garden, under the shade of a big peach tree. The property's accessible swimming pool lies next to the house and is welcome to be used by guests. Intended to make you feel at home and yet preserve the age of these tiny houses, we have kept decor to a minimum, but aimed to cater for all the little needs.
Although not entirely self-catering, guests are welcome to braai in the garden, or enjoy the many amazing local restaurants. The room is provided with a small fridge, an espresso machine, tea-making facilities, wi-fi, a fan, a heater, a wardrobe, a hair dyer and an iron.
The area is well known for it's restaurants, wine, wedding venues and of course, for it's beauty. Which makes the valley a wonderful place to come and stay for the weekend!
  • Lara is a super host, friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the rustic atmosphere and especially the pool. Sitting outside in the little yard was pleasant and relaxing after a swim. We used our stay to visit friends in the area and explore some interesting shops and galleries in both villages (Riebeek-West and Riebeek-Kasteel). It was an enjoyable break-away for us for a few days and Lara's place suited us very well.

    Walter & Colleen2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful time - Lara and her family are incredibly friendly and accommodating and we felt truly at home and welcome. The room is basic but has everything you need - complete with a fan, coffee, tea and homemade rusks. The pool gave us much needed respite from the Riebeek Kasteel heat and was the highlight of an all-round wonderful stay. Thank you to Lara and her family for being such wonderful hosts.

    Claire2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfull little cottage. Really enjoyed the pool and we even made a fire. Spent the night reading on the outside couches under the tree. Nice and close To Riebeek Kasteel, worth every cent.

  • Lara’s outhouse is such a special place on a gorgeous property. We loved exploring the area and Lara and her husband were wonderful hosts. The outhouse and the bathroom are beautifully restored with many stylish touches. We enjoyed the pool and had a braai and especially loved a visit from well-behaved and sweet little dog Lucy. Hope to come back soon- thank you Lara!

A charming en-suite at the end of the main house, surrounded by olive and guava and apricot trees, where you will be woken be birdsong in the morning. Your own private entrance, with parking close-by. You can spend time relaxing indoors, chill with a cold drink on the stoep, and jump into the pool when it gets too hot. Very close to all amenities and restaurants in the village.
The Potter's House is a functioning pottery studio. Be prepared to see lots of clay, wheels, kilns, buckets, and, of course, pottery - which you can buy at a health 20% guest discount! You are most welcome to a guided tour around the studio, or to watch me at work. Questions welcome!
Riebeek Kasteel is one of the most picturesque and artistic villages in the Swartland, and surrounded by wine and olive farms.
  • This is a truly beautiful, modern, newly remodelled and furnished apartment on the edge of Riebeeck Kasteel with views over the vineyards and an easy stroll to the shops and restaurants. Garth is an amazing host and the room was absolutely spotless and perfectly made up on my arrival. There are two french doors out onto two different patios. One leads to the delightful swimming pool and the other to a little private nook with table and chairs to sit and relax. The room has a silent ceiling fan and an aircon. The bed is brand new and I slept on it like on a cloud, not waking up once through the night. There is a small hidden bar fridge with complimentary bottles of water and also a jug of clean Brita filtered water. The room is stylish and beautifully furnished with lots of art work and pottery. Garth is Riebeeck Kasteel's most prominent potter and you can watch him at work in his pottery studio adjacent to the house. The bathroom is really beautiful with a wonderful bath and a large rain shower. Ample shampoo and soap is provided as are luxurious soft bath and hand towels. The privacy is excellent and the town and the surrounding area has many delightful treats to occupy you for days. This was a wonderful two-night stay and I will most definitely be back. This is my go-to place for Riebeeck Kasteel.

  • What an awesome surprise. Don't you just love having a better time than you expect? The pictures look good for this spot but in reality, it's just flipping amazing. They just open for business and I would suggest anyone to jump now and make a booking before it gets booked up for a year in advance or the price climbs(I don’t think Lara will but I'm just saying that you get more than you pay for)

  • Awesome getaway for the hustle and bustle of the city. Beautiful surrounds and so peaceful. The practical and well thought through setup was just what we needed to find rest for our souls. What more do you need than a hot tub and braai. Would highly recommend if you are a lover of nature!

Next time will spend more time there and enjoy the pool. Lovely towels, linen, mattress. Enjoyed also talking to our hosts who were friendly and interesting people! 🌟

  • What a wonderful place! Unfortunately we were there only for one night. Will come back and spent more time as this is a wonderful cottage with a beautiful garden and even a swimming pool. We can highly recommend as we enjoyed a relaxing Sunday there. It is so quite and peaceful and yet you have all you need.

  • The Old Barn Cottage is an absolute delight, as are hosts Sally and chris. The cottage is well appointed and Sally very kindly provided a light breakfast with fresh fruit salad, muffins, cereal tea and coffee. The cottage is beautifully clean with a warm homely feel. There are books to read and browse through, the pot plants are interesting and Fred the dog made it really feel like home. We walked into the town and enjoyed a variety of restaurants and quaint small-town shops. What a special weekend! Would highly recommend staying at the Old Barn Cottage.

  • We loved our stay at Blaauw Cottage - great welcome & communication, with the guests’ privacy respected & suggestions provided unobtrusively electronically as required. The cottage is tastefully designed with so much thought on what the guests would like, including an indoor fireplace and electric blankets for the rainy winter nights. Both en-suite bedrooms downstairs have doors onto the verandah so there is easy access to the pool. Thank you, Klaus.

    Andre2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Blaauw. The house was very clean and had all the things needed to spend some relaxing days away from home. With bedrooms (and bathrooms) on either side of the kitchen and living area, the house was perfect for both privacy and spending time together. The garden and outdoor area was inviting and we used it in both sunshine and rain. Klauss was there to welcome us and show us around the house, and he was very helpful with tips about the town. We highly recommend spending some relaxing days at Blaauw.

Our lovely en-suite "Olive" next to the swimming pool has two single (extra length) beds, complimentary coffee and tea. Enjoy the beautiful garden and swimming pool overlooking Kasteelberg. There is a seating area next to swimming pool (which is closed March-November).
Welcome to our Eden, which we feel is as close to Paradise as you can get. Eden currently offers four en-suite bedrooms (Lemon, Olive, Clivia, and Agapanthus - all available on AirBnB). There are also a few properties with full-time residences in the garden, but all houses are owned by us. The rooms are built in a unique garden, located in the beautiful and popular Riebeek Kasteel 80 km north of Cape Town. With only a 12 minute walk or 2 minutes’ drive, you will be right in the centre of Riebeek Kasteel, buzzing with trendy restaurants, unique wine stores, shops, galleries, and microbreweries. The area provides unmatched opportunities for activities around the vineyards or the mighty Kasteelberg, where every sunset becomes your own drama in nature's colors. With 534 trees and shrubs that have been carefully planted and nurtured over the past 20 years, each tree and shrub has its own history and location, and all the trees together create a harmony and overall feeling that you rarely come across. Imagine a morning run or walk surrounded by vineyards, followed up with your Yoga/Pilates/Qigong session in the garden under the trees and then enjoying your coffee at the pond. Relax with your favorite book in the gazebo, have a beautiful picnic under the oak tree or enjoy Riebeek Kasteel town. Laze with your partner or friends in shade of the trees, sipping a glass of wine. Enjoy your Sun Downer in the gardens or next to the sparkling pool, before enjoying dinner at one of the local restaurants in the village. During the walk back, make sure to look at all the stars in the sky…
Eden is located in the eastern part of Riebeek Kasteel, surrounded by the Kasteel mountains and wine yards. Riebeek Kasteel is a bustling and up-and-coming small town. The neighborhood is very quiet and welcoming. Other residents live on the premises, but it's a quiet and very private area.
  • I would like to recommend a stay at the Eden lodge...The place is beautiful, very peaceful and the swimming pool just adds that special touch especially on hot summer days. Thank you to the hostess Camilla and Anna for making my stay amazing. I would like to suggest wifi at the premises though we are after all living in the 21st century.

    Jamy2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We decided very last minute to explore the Riebeek Kasteel area. Camilla was wonderfully responsive. Check in and out was a breeze. The space is just right size wise and the pool and grounds are divine.

    Em2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Camilla's garden is beautiful, so lush and full of lovely scents, the pool is amazing to stay fresh on warm summer days and the room we stayed in (Olive) gives just in front of it so it's perfect. All the necessities (and some!) including aircon and great hosts made for a great weekend away! Camilla even let us stay until much later on our departure day so we could enjoy the pool and relax some more before returning to reality. Really a little piece of Eden right there 🔆😊😎🔆 As a Cape Town resident I can only whole heartedly recommend Camilla's place for a wonderfully relaxing getaway!

    Céline2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Riebeek for us is the "real" Franchoek. Old but stylish village atmosphere, with excellent resturant choice, and world class Vinyards on the doorstep. The temprature averaged 40c during our stay, but the huge pool on our doorstep made our stay delightful. We will be back.

My place is close to Village centre - 500 metre walk. You’ll love my place because of the views, the location, the people, the ambiance, and the outdoors space. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
The house is ideally suited to families wanting to get together and friends wanting to spend a weekend away. The citrus grove will supply you enough lemons for your G & T's and sitting around the boma is perfect for shooting the breeze.

  • The Potter's House is an amazing place. It is beautiful and Garth is a gracious host. Check-in was easy and the place was ideally situated close to the wedding venue where we had to be. He also made sure we would not be left completely in the dark due to loadshedding by leaving us parafin lamps and a torch. The place was clean and very neat. We really enjoyed our stay and Garth left us some prunes from his garden which were very tasty.

  • If you're wondering whether to visit Riebeeck Kasteel then definitely do and definitely stay at Julie's! The village is beautiful with lovely restaurants and cafes and it's very close to some of the best wineries in Swartland. Julie's place is lovely, the room was perfectly clean with lovely white sheets and a big bed. Loved the veranda outside the room too. The upstairs loft room also looked ace for larger groups. Julie and Ronald were incredible hosts, very thoughtful and friendly.

  • We really loved our week at Lynnes place. This was our start of a three week trip and we needed a poace were we could relax, and we got it. Perfectly located right next to the center of Riebeek Kasteel, so not too far to get a meal in one of the restaurants, but also everthing you need in the kichen to make a meal by yourself or bbq outside. We spent most of our time at the patio outside which was amazing. The pool was a nice extra for those days when we needed to cool of. The house is super charming, and we are missing it already after having left only a couple of days ago. Book this place, you wont regret it! Thank you again so much Lynne!

We absolutely loved our stay, the board games was nice as internet connection wasn't the best. The space seems great for any season and the braai area overlooks the vineyard which is a great space for breakfast and sun downers. The pool was refreshing too and quite warm.

Riebeek Kasteel is a charming little village with so much to offer. We have a vegan home in the little dorpie and a great place to lounge and explore the village from. We respectfully ask that you do not bring meat in to the home.
Surrounded by wine farms and a quaint village this is the perfect escape from the city madness. I am an ethical vegan and my home is a cruelty free area. I respectfully ask that there is no meat in my home. There is an open plan kitchen/dining room, open wood burning fireplace, modern bathrooms, outside areas with plenty of yard space and a 20m lap pool. 2 Covered patios with seating offers plenty of outside options. There is a patio by the pool that provides welcome shade during the hot summer months. The style is modern and minimal. Undercover parking for 2 vehicles exist and the house is a 5 minute walk from the village. There is wifi throughout the house as well as Netflix should you decide to turn the TV on (the stars are better). Riebeek Kasteel is in the Swartland Wine Area and the village is renowned for superb restaurants, olives and wine. The village is situated in the valley guarded by Kasteelberg and a 5 minute walk from the house. Should you require additional house keeping services this can be arranged for a fee.
What a cool neighbourhood! Small, quaint with awesome restaurants, 2 craft breweries and magical wines. You will fall in love with our village. Amazing olive tasting as well as wine tasting, superior art galleries and the best pizza at Mama Cucina (they make vegan pizza on demand - it is amazing)
  • We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The property was clean and presentable with comfortable beds, convenient location, good quality WiFi plus a choice of covered stoeps/seating areas in which to relax. Additionally a big thank you must go to Jerenay who looks after the property. Any issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Jerenay's personality totally added to what proved to be a very pleasant stay. We'll be back!

  • My family spent 6 hot, relaxing days at this beautiful property which has an amazing pool we used loads, mountain views and lovely nooks to enjoy either sun or shade depending on time of day. We lay in the garden every night looking at the stars! Both Adien and housekeeper Jerenay are very friendly and responsive. A great weekend spot, or longer, and not too far from the better known wineland areas where we went for the restaurants. The local Italian is outstanding!

    Isabel2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable well equipped home in a peaceful setting. The pool area is amazing with a wonderful mountain view. Jeranay who welcomed us is an absolute gem. Thank you Adien.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Adien's amazing home. Beautiful, tranquil, comfortable, amazing attention to detail. Our girls thoroughly enjoyed the pool, which is absolutely stunning! This home is the perfect country escape with all the comforts of home and more. Highly highly recommended!

  • Adien's house is absolutely beautiful. Extremely well equipped, sparkling clean and a fabulous pool. Even the swimming towels are supplied! The house is a short walk to the centre of the village with local restaurants and grocery stores. She was very flexible with me wanting to change dates and back again.

    Mieks2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, this is our second stay there and will be back again. Thanks Adien!

Luxury studio located in a large garden which you will have full access to. This studios was built in 2018 and everything is brand-new. Eden Studios in Riebeek Kasteel is a lovely get-away from the busy life in Cape Town. There are a few properties on in the garden, three of which have full-time residences.
Eden is our dream spot in South Africa. We found this place in 2017 and absolutely fell in love with it. We're so happy that we're able to share it with guests from around the world.
Eden is located in the eastern part of Riebeek Kasteel, surrounded by the Kasteel mountains and wine yards. Riebeek Kasteel is a bustling and up-and-coming small town with a new & alternative wine scene. The neighborhood is very quiet and welcoming. Other residents live on the premises, but it's a quiet and very private area.
  • Small cozy flat😊 nice and cool on hot summers day

Our resident pet chicken may just produce a freerange egg for our visitors!! The Theron family are well traveled and love to welcome visitors to our home. We encourage you to engage with us and our animals or just relax among the trees!!
  • We had such an amazing time at Marilie's. It's not only beautiful, but the service is really excellent! Beautiful town and super friendly people!

  • Most lovely family and a very spacious, neat and nice place to stay. The village is wonderful as well with its many artists, wine and olive tastings and nice restaurants (without the posh feeling in the Stellenbos / Franschhoek area). I’d love to get back here!

Beautiful big aluminium windows facing the sun, allowing warmth into the house in winter. Also beautiful white wooden blinds, to cool the house in summer.

Owner-chef Robert Moreland opened Beef and Barrel in 1989, and their seafood and steaks are renowned for being among the best in the region. Another well-loved restaurant that has lasted the test of time in this area is Die Herehuis Restaurant & Lander Pub, which boasts a tranquil garden and pool area. Here, meals are served inside by a log fire in the winter and outside in the garden during the summer. Special attractions Looking for something fun to do in Malmesbury? Look no further. The en-suite bedrooms have a light, fresh feel to them, the walls decorated with original garden themed paintings. Each bedroom has its own beautiful en-suite bathroom, with a walk in shower. A television is present in each bedroom. We now also have Wi Fi. Braai facilities are available. A delicious farm breakfast can be provided at an additional cost of R60 per person.625 per room.
The delightful garden is rich in birdlife and is home to a variety of plants. Secluded nooks under the trees, have been known to spark creativity. Writers, artists or anyone wanting to fill their soul with beauty and peace will receive so much nourishment from this space. A stunning panoramic view of the Riebeeck Valley can be enjoyed from the front "stoep"/veranda. Observing the first morning rays and the golden sunset hues from here, is a memorable experience. On arrival, you will receive a complimentary tea with something that has been lovingly home baked for you. We also welcome anyone who would like to use our space as a writing or meditation retreat. Wholesome nutritious meals can be cooked by Susan, the host. Nurturing people through food, beauty and attention to detail is her passion. Meals are prepared with love and care. Guests have often complimented her on this. The house is located at the foot of the mountain range. This means that you have easy access to a walk on the mountain. The story behind The Vines: Susan initially opened her home to guests as a gift to help another mom raise funds for her 9 year old daughter who had been diagnosed with cancer. She enjoyed preparing meals and hosting the lovely couple so very much. Her guests in return were incredibly appreciative of all they experienced. Susan decided it was time to offer her strengths, along with her dearly loved home and garden for others to enjoy as well.

Olive and wine tasting can be experienced. A stroll through the town is a pleasure too as you may pass alongside cows grazing, intereresting country homes and gardens and a landscape that is so different to city life. Still Pure is a place located in Riebeeck Kasteel. Here essential oils are produced, specializing in indigenous fynbos oils. Riebeeck West holds a market the first Saturday of every month. Farm butter, handmade speciality cheeses, soft toys from yesteryear, preserves, plants, herbs, pestos and curries can be bought here. There are many restaurants and coffee shops in both Riebeeck West and Riebeeck Kasteel. Riebeeck West is situated 18km from Malmesbury. 29 mins to Tulbach (They offer a yearly Winter in July festival) 26 mins to Wellington 39 mins to Ceres 1hr 5 mins to Langebaan
