  • We loved staying here. The beach is super close and easy to access. The view from the living room is gorgeous and it’s so nice to listen to the ocean.

  • This place is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, or a week long getaway. You overlook the water and the path to the beach is a quick 3 minute walk down. The view is unbelievable. You hang out on the cliff, engulfed by the glorious beauty of the forever pounding ocean. Leave your white noise machines at home. The melodic drum of the waves crashing is perfect for bed time as well as meditating on the glorious, sunsoaked deck. Seashells abound in the early morning. The tides bring in some especially fantastic jewels across the coastline.

  • The Sunset Cottage is the perfect place to unwind and relax on the beach. Gorgeous view and a cozy, quaint space to decompress away from it all! Thanks again Nonie!

    Matthew2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • LOVE this place! The location and view are unbeatable. The studio is steps from the ocean, cozy, nice TV, and lots of blankets to keep warm. We hope to be back soon!

    Diana2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • WOW. If you're thinking the place is a little out of your price range, ask yourself what does a beautiful unique location on the beach mean to you. Then ask yourself, again, about all the times you might have tried to save a little. This is NOT one of those times!! The breathtaking views, comfy amenities and delicious, refreshing sounds and feel of rolling ocean waves make it all worthwhile. Indulge. Enjoy. You're worth it. You never know what you're missing, but this place is not to be missed. Monie's hospitality tops it all off with a healthy dose of comfort and accommodation.

Our quaint, thoughtfully-stocked 300 sq ft cottage is located steps from the ocean, yet tucked away behind our home, affording guests ample privacy, easy parking and all the amenities of home. Sip wine on the patio after a day of adventures while listening to the surf, and sleep soundly on our king Saatva Organic hybrid mattress.
Our 1 bed/1 bath, studio-style cottage is offered fully furnished with kitchenette, organic fair trade coffee, selection of teas, and cooking basics (like oils and spices) provided. Cleaning services and refreshed linens offered weekly, and included in the monthly price. Please note: we gutted the kitchenette in 2018 and it now has 2 gas burners for cooking, a sink, and fridge. Due to the small space and limited availability of petite-sized appliances, we no longer have an oven or freezer. In place of an oven, we provide a well-rated Breville countertop oven, which is large enough to roast a turkey, make a pizza, or do a little baking, should the mood strike. However, if you plan to do a lot of cooking during your stay, or like to eat ice cream nightly, you’ll likely prefer to seek out a property with a full-sized kitchen. Hundreds of tv channels Smart TV offers access to Prime, Hulu, Neflix, etc. On Demand shows and movies Secured Wifi Charming private patio Complimentary toiletries Iron/ironing board Hair dryer All linens included Dishes, pots, pans, + oil, spices, etc. Organic coffee/sugar Eco Friendly "Luxury Firm" King mattress Beach chairs & beach towels provided Pet Friendly* *PET POLICY: Well-behaved pets are welcome - we are dog lovers! However, based on over 9 years of hosting experience, we now charge a $50 cleaning fee. Airbnb doesn't offer a way to collect this specific fee upfront, so we will request the cleaning fee via the resolution center prior to your departure. The cottage comfortably sleeps 2. If your party is larger (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance to discuss arrangements. We can stash a twin air mattress or Pack 'n Play and extra linens in the closet prior to your arrival, however, for long term stays, families are encouraged to rent a larger property, as the cottage is quite petite - ideal for one person or a couple. Location: 5 minute walk to Asilomar State Beach, Asilomar Conference Ctr, and the recreation trail (Bring your binoculars - almost guaranteed sightings of otters and seals, and lately, whale spouts!) 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to downtown Pacific Grove (On Monday afternoon/evenings there is a fantastic little Farmers Market) 10 minute drive to Oldtown Monterey/Wharf Approximately 3 miles from Cannery Row/Monterey Bay Aquarium Less than 1 mile from the 17 mile drive gates into Pebble Beach 1/3 mile from Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course 20ish minute drive to Carmel Valley/Wine Country 30ish minute drive to INCREDIBLY scenic Big Sur Bring your bicycles - our mild climate and stunning scenery make the Monterey Peninsula an ideal spot to explore on 2 wheels. We *LOVE* hosting Airbnb guests - making friends from around the world, and close to home. Whether you opt to stay with us, or elsewhere, I'm confident you'll enjoy your trip to the stunning Monterey Peninsula. You should know a couple things.... 1. We are a pet-friendly property - if you suffer from pet allergies you should know there may have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is likely that allergens are still present. Ultimately - we want you to be comfortable, therefore we *STRONGLY* discourage booking if you have pet allergies - there are so many lovely options in the area and most are not pet-friendly. 2. Approximately once per week (usually Friday mornings) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed wackers, fence repair, and the like). 3. Finally.... As of May 28, 2020, we're only able to host stays of 30 days or longer. We've loved being Airbnb hosts since 2010, but unfortunately, the voters of Pacific Grove approved an anti short-term rental ballot measure last fall and our property no longer qualifies for a permit with the city. (We're located 1/3 of a block outside the "Commercial Zone", sadly!)
Hands down, the best part about our 'hood is the proximity to the ocean. You can (usually) hear it, and smell it from our house, and see its amazing beauty within a brief walk. On a clear night, the sunsets are breathtaking.
  • Need to escape for a few days of total serenity? This is the place. Erika and Blake’s cottage is a magical find only 5 mins from the beach/ocean in Pacific Grove. They thought of everything, down to the most delicious chocolate chip cookies upon checking in. The sweet space was immaculate, with fabulous touches like yogurt and granola, yummy coffee, wonderful toast and jam for breakfast. I cannot wait to return. I rested (in the most comfortable bed!) and worked and wrote. Haven’t been so productive in ages. Long walks, meditation and the quiet and space to just be. What a wonderful gift. Thank you!!

    Kristin2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really great stay, perfect location, highly recommended

    Kevin And Linda2020-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Erika and Blake are wonderful hosts! They are very responsive and helpful. The airbnb itself is so quaint and nice. The extra touches like the cookies and breakfast were the best! And the location can't be beat. We hope to return again soon!

    Kimberly2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had the BEST stay at Erika & Blake's cottage! Its in a perfect location, has so much charm & style, and the space is perfectly equipped with everything you might need for a short trip. We were greeted with freshly baked cookies (yum), coffee, cream, yogurt & granola, and a few drinks. The king bed was very comfortable, mattress & linens. Bath was equipped with high quality products and the shower was sparkling clean. We were able to have a fire in the fire pit at night, walk to the beach in less than 10 mins, and we could even hear the ocean from the cottage. Will definitely come back!

    Jessica2020-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely stay here again! The cottage is quaint and cozy with a private outdoor area. Erika and Blake were very accommodating to our minute trip. They had lots personal touches and provided nice little breakfast options in the fridge. Great hosts!

    Carolyn2020-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I wanted to go to Monterey for a weekend getaway and Erika & Blake’s cottage was absolutely wonderful. The studio was well equipped, thoughtfully decorated and very clean. They provided some snacks and food for breakfast which was just what we needed to start our day. The king bed was comfortable and we were able to sleep really well. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Thanks for a fabulous stay!

    Mari2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at this AirBnb with my partner and 2 cats! Having the beach so close was great. We also appreciated the awesome interior furnishing and the super comfortable bed!

    Erik2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Erika and Blake's property is amazing and warm. The guest house is just what we needed during this crazy time. Erika had some nice personal touches and made some of the best cookies we have ever tasted. Even though we were practicing social distancing, she was very responsive via text. Can't beat the location as well. Many hikes, beach trails, and outdoor activities to do while restaurants/bars were closed.

Stay in our Carmel Rustic Cabin along with your FurKid (see dog fee below) while shopping, visiting local wineries and restaurants or just walking your dog off-leash along Carmel's white sandy beach. Hidden in the woods, our rustic cabin is like a treehouse with all the amenities and minutes from downtown and the beaches. FYI the coast drive is now accessible between here and LA, but may be shut down during stormy weather, so be sure to follow local weather reports or just call Caltrans.
You'll find our Rustic Cabin like a Treehouse is perfect for two . . . Simple. Comfortable and Cozy (250 sq ft). PLUS, the cabin is very quiet, very private, and equipped with a small "kitchenette," super high-speed WIFI for streaming and cable TV. We are Pet Friendly and would love to entertain your beloved Fido, but PLEASE NOTE . . . we are now charging $25 extra for one to two small to mid-size dogs. Dog surcharge will be added after you've booked. We also ask that you bring the appropriate dog bedding as well as food and water dishes. Deer and other wild animals are often around at night, so don't be spooked if your dog decides to growl a bit. Even squirrels will set our dogs off. We provide coffee and tea to get you started in the morning. No kitchen is available, but there is a microwave, small refrigerator, kettle, coffee pot, toaster, and dishes - all ideal for take out. You'll be located on the same property as our family home, but totally detached from the house (about 50 steps down from the parking area) and with no other guests to disturb you. For those of you who have allergies, please keep in mind that Pets have been in the room previously. Also, because we're located in the woods, pollens may be a problem for you as well. If you're visiting California's central coast for the first time, you'll find Carmel and the surrounding area an idyllic haven boasting nearly 100 miles of spectacular shoreline - described as the 'greatest meeting of land and sea.' The unbridled beauty of Carmel and Monterey County's landscape and the mild, year-round weather offer endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Family-centered activities abound and there truly is something for everyone.
The cabin is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood facing the Pebble Beach Forest Conservancy adjacent to Pescadero, a little used road where neighbors like to walk their dogs, or where cyclists test their strength on a grueling hill full of switchbacks. Want to look out on the forest? Want to watch birds whiz by with squirrels nearby? You can, yet we're so close to town, it takes 10 minutes to walk to the post office. Also, you might like to know Carmel has been voted one of the Top Ten Dog Friendly places in the country. WOOF! So, bring your dog. Please check the CALENDAR tab above to determine whether we've been booked.
  • Stay was great, good location! Power went out but came back on. Thanks Tom!

    Madeline2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Small cabin, great for a couple and fur baby friendly. Nearby hiking and plenty of places in walking distance.

    Eric2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location close to town with a lovely balcony overlooking a lush ravine. Nice additional touches in the room as well. Thanks Tom!!

    Angela2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Tom's place, and we were so happy to return. We were able to stay a bit longer this time, and enjoyed more time on the small patio and in town which is very close. It was quiet and peaceful, and a great location for us and the dogs! We are already hoping to return again!

    Angela2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little cabin in the trees. This was a very peaceful spot and we really enjoyed our stay here. Sitting on the balcony with a beer after a long drive was delightfully relaxing. Close to everything Carmel has to offer, but just enough off the beaten track. All in all, a great find.

    Judy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this trip as a short get-away from the hustle-and-bustle of the Bay Area and demanding jobs. Tom's place was exactly what we needed. It is a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown but far enough to offer peace and tranquility; it was the best of both worlds. The cabin itself is on a hillside down some steps from the main house. It is very private and surrounded by lush trees and plants. There is a cute little deck facing down the hill to enjoy coffee and snacks. The cabin offers basic amenities, which is all we needed, including a very comfy bed. It was very clean and quaint. Tom is very kind and a great host. We love this place and can't wait to return!

    Victoria2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great and cute accommodation. You have to go down some stairs in Order to reach the housing but Tom installed some lights which makes it very easy to find. We enjoyed our stay.

    Jessica2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very rustic and charming place surrounded by nature. Friendly host. Close proximity to center of town. A bit small but we just needed a place to sleep so it was perfect. Highly recommended and would love to come back again.

This charming historic studio was once owned by American author John Steinbeck. It's been featured in several articles including “20 Romantic AirBnB Getaways”, “Get Cultured While You Sleep at These AirBnBs That are Historical Landmarks” and in Airbnb Magazine's June/July 2019 edition. As of May 27, 2020, there is a 30-night minimum stay for this cottage. Special rates will apply - 65% off the daily rate and no city occupancy tax.
Currently, there is construction at our next door neighbor's house. The work is being done Monday - Friday during the day. Please be aware that there will be some noise during the day. 'I bought a small house and garden in Pacific Grove...' (John Steinbeck: A Life in Letters). American author John Steinbeck wrote these words to a friend about this charming house he called home in the 1940s. This cozy studio retreat has one bedroom with a queen bed and and a sitting area, a spacious full bathroom, and a fully stocked kitchen. There is cable TV and wireless internet. The studio is approximately 350 square feet. It is original 1920's architecture and has short doorways throughout the studio. Taller guests will need to mind their heads passing through entry-ways. It is one of three cottages on the property and has a unique and rich literary history, having belonged to John Steinbeck in the early 1940's. He used it as his writing studio and worked on novels including The Sea of Cortez while living here. It has been renovated to pay homage to the period and history of the property. It has a masculine and sophisticated, yet romantic feel.
The property is in a quiet residential neighborhood in Pacific Grove. It offers plenty of street parking. As for the city, Pacific Grove has been called “Butterfly Town U.S.A.,” “The Most Romantic City in the U.S.,” “A Dreamy California Destination, ” as well as an idyllic place to get married, to honeymoon or to just hang out. Some of it is self-proclaimed, some the acclaim of people who have actually visited Pacific Grove. You will find Pacific Grove on the very tip of the scenic, tree-shrouded Monterey Peninsula with a rocky coastline and an ambiance of charm, grace and beauty. Founded in the 1870s as a Methodist summer retreat, Pacific Grove still bears the look and feel of yesteryear. As you stroll the residential streets admiring the charm of home after home, you will notice little plaques on many of the homes that bear the name of the original owner and the year in which it was built. To qualify for a plaque from the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove, a structure must look like it did when it was originally built. Among its visitors are brightly colored orange-and-black Monarch butterflies, who overwinter in Pacific Grove after traveling up to 2,000 miles, arriving by the thousands starting in October, peaking around Christmas and departing by March. Besides its scenic beauty and idyllic neighborhoods, Pacific Grove offers an eclectic downtown experience, with small boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, antique stores and more. Other vibrant shopping areas are along Central Avenue at the entrance to Pacific Grove from Cannery Row and at the top of Forest Avenue on Forest Hill.
  • Such a wonderful stay in this historic cottage! I highly recommend this to literature buffs and anyone wanting to explore the area.

  • We had a lovely stay in the Writers Studio. Everything we needed to be comfortable was close at hand. We loved the decor and we were just a short downhill walk to many restaurants and activities. I would definitely stay again. Communication was always quick, friendly and easy. Thanks again Kevin and Vicky 🤩

  • The Steinbeck Writing Studio is a MUST DO for any John Steinbeck reader/fan. Even if you aren’t a Steinbeck fan, the studio is a perfect quiet retreat for an individual or couple. It has an eclectic charm that makes you feel so cozy and comfortable, that you’ll want to curl up and read all day. The location is fantastic and very walkable. We walked all over Pacific Grove, Cannery Row and Monterey. We never drove the car once after we arrived. Kevin and Vicky were very responsive and thoughtful hosts. We would highly recommend the studio to anyone! 5 stars all day!

    Blake2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the Steinbeck cottage. Easy check-in, and close to the many attractions and restaurants the Monterey peninsula offers.

    Hunter2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful, centrally located, good access to parking, great Wi-Fi, and all the charm we could handle.

    Bill2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is an AirBnb you will absolute want to book. Every single detail you could want or think to put into a place Kevin and Vicky did. A book full of tips, suggestions, and reviews of different places around town. The perfect location to access those places as well as a perfect cottage to retreat to after the long day. I loved reading why other people had come to the cottage with the journal left for guests to write in. The place itself was spotless and stocked full of all the things that make you feel at home. I really couldn’t of wanted more or had a better time staying at this AirBnb. Thank you guys again so much!

    Christina2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Not just a historical delight but an adorable and highly functional space. Excellent communication and zero complications or issues! We would enthusiastically stay again. Thank you!

  • I cannot recommend staying with Annemarie and Jesse enough! They were incredibly hospitable and created the most cozy environment for a weekend away - a fire continuously burning in the fireplace, and board games out on the table each night. The house has an air of community and lightness, and our hosts had great recommendations on what to do in the area each day. Not to mention how beautifully maintained the historic house and its gardens were! Thank you for a lovely getaway, we hope to be back soon.

    Kathryn2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We almost felt home in this cosy house. Great breakfast, very nice location, super great hosts. They gave us a lot of valuable information about the neighbourhood and places to visit. Most of all, they help us getting an early flight back home during this difficult time (covid19).

    Léo2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Seaside was the 2nd stage of our roadtrip after San Francisco. The house is ideally located, in a very calm and impeccably clean environment. Annemarie and Jesse are in perfect hospitality. In addition Annemarie speaks French, which can be very useful when our English vocabulary is limited. We will not hesitate to return on a future trip.

    Jean-Jacques2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're still reading this review and deciding whether or not to book here - BOOK HERE! Do it! Annemarie and Jesse are such wonderful hosts. Their house and garden is absolutely charming. The breakfast was delicious. Just a short drive to everything you want to see in the area. Hope to stay again!

    Betsy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay in the Monterey area. But what made it truly special was our time at Annemarie and Jesse's lovely home. They were easy going and helpful in every way and made our journey even that more pleasurable.

    Michael2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Feels like home :) My favorite place to stay in Seaside. I keep coming back and can't get enough. Thank you, Annemarie, Jesse and Jocelyne!

    Katieann2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended - beautiful historic house with wonderful hosts, wonderful gardens, great breakfast in the morning. Always a pleasure to stay here!

    Briar2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, tranquil, must-stay experience. Annemarie, Jesse and Jocelyne think of everything, and I feel so cared for, body and soul, when I stay here (I'm a happy repeat customer, I've stayed here multiple times on my visits to Monterey). The inn feels like a home - inviting fireplace in the living room in the evenings, nourishing and tasty breakfast in the dining room in the mornings, and many cozy spots to sit in the garden, relax, meditate, whatever you need. The inn is centrally located - close to the bay, Big Sur - so you can go out if you like, or you can completely relax in this cozy spot. This room is particularly lovely- giant bed, writing desk, chairs to relax in, and a distant view of the water. Thank you for a lovely stay, I can't wait to visit again!

  • The Retreat exceeded expectations! The suite was located at the back of the property through a peaceful garden. The space was elegantly decorated with many amenities and thoughtful touches. The bed was luxurious, beyond comfortable with high quality linens. The hosts were kind, welcoming and respected our privacy. I would highly recommend staying at this location - GREAT value!

  • With everything going on in the world it was a nice little get away to stay at! I checked out Lover's point which was 30 mins from the place and also checked out Big Sur which was only an hour away! Ted was very welcoming! The place is very cute and quiet. Everything was very clean! Would definitely stay here again!

  • Very quiet and clean retreat. Ted and Edith are excellent hosts that respond quickly to questions. If your going to get in late let them know and they'll leave the lights on for you. The fragrance of the flowers as you enter the backyard is so lovely and relaxing after a long day at work. I'll definitely be back!

    Kelly2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a comfortable and quiet retreat. The BBQ was great for cooking. The bed was wonderful and location is good. I enjoyed my chats with Ted and will definitely be back.

  • Aptly named, this space definitely feels like a retreat! The owners are so kind and the space is quite comfortable. I spent most of my time working so I really enjoyed all the light from the windows and the outdoor space just beckoning me for a yoga sesh :)

  • Adorable little place. Description exactly as in posting. Extra benefit there were breakfast items in the fridge to have with the coffee supplies in the kitchen. Cute backyard space and plenty of parking. Close to shopping and water. Would stay again. Thanks for hosting us.

  • Ashley’s Beach House is a little sanctuary... Our family home needed some repairs during Covid-19 SIP time (which was stressful) but I was able to rest so comfortably with our 2 yr old once we walked in the door. Ashley has thoughtfully designed the space to create a space that’s private and peaceful. Everything was so clean, the check-in/check-out instructions were clearly communicated and the ability to have Netflix & awesome WiFi were super pluses. Looking forward to our next stay as a family!

    Emily2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley’s place was cozy, clean, and comfortable. It had a fully stocked kitchen, bathroom, and check in was a breeze. I would stay at Ashley’s cottage again in the future!

    Belinda2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very very cozy! if youre there solo, it’ll be very nice, as it feels like your own space. it looks small, and there are no doors separating each different part of the cottage, but it still felt like each room was separate, despite that fact. very hospitable host, answered very quickly and was on top of it in terms of cleanliness, amenities, local tips, etc. you rule, Ashley! 👍🏽 -Alyssa M.

We're centrally-located to beach, Fisherman's Wharf, Aquarium, downtown, Cannery Row, Carmel. Please note room accommodates two adults and is not set up for children or pets.
We welcome our international guests. Clementine "cottage" shares a common wall with the rest of the house, yet it has a separate, private entrance and provides all the comfort and relaxation needed to start each day refreshed and ready for fun. It feels like a charming cottage. Complete privacy. Go around the right side of the house and find the French doors that open into your private bedroom. Inside you will find a bathroom with walk-in shower, convenience nook, and walk-in closet/study with window. The closet/study has a clothing rack and contains a table and chair where you can sit quietly next to a desk-level window for laptop work in a quiet space. The queen-sized bed, topped with a three inch memory foam mattress, is so comfortable, supportive yet soft enough to cradle your contours for a restful night's sleep. If more warmth is needed, the cozy fireplace heater will send out infrared heat. Antique dressers and lamps are charming and utilitarian. Original oil paintings hang on each wall, and change throughout the year for variety. Many are local scenes, including The Monterey Customs House, The Wharf in Monterey, the Pacific Grove coastline carpeted with florescent purple rosea mesembryanthemum. The white tiled walk-in shower is spacious and light, with skylight directly above showering area. Towels, shampoo and soap are provided. The bathroom heater makes for a pleasant and nurturing experience. The convenience nook holds a microwave, mini-fridge, toaster, electric water kettle, and coffeemaker, making it convenient for an in-room meal.
This is an old, established neighborhood and the neighbors are quiet, kind, and considerate. We are close to a lakeside bird sanctuary. See photos. Within walking distance is the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. Follow it for a lovely walk to downtown Monterey, a little over a mile away. Or walk over to the nearby beach and get grand views of the Monterey Bay. You can even walk to Monterey on the beach. Get away from everything. Bicycles can be rented in Monterey at Bay Bikes (486 Washington and at American Tin Cannery Antique Mall, 585 Cannery Row). Hidden Treasures Not only will you find historical landmarks and world renowned forest and coastlines, a number of little treasures unmarked by tourist maps or pamphlets are also scattered throughout the area. One of our favorite coffee shops is Acme Coffee in Seaside. They roast their own coffee and provide interesting combinations for your taste. You'll always find an eclectic crowd gathered discussing the latest news, catching up with friends, visiting from around the world and just plain enjoying. Maybe you'll see Carrie the local crochet artist displaying her unique hats and gloves for sale. Lake Laguna Grande is just a few blocks away. A walk around the lake takes about fifteen minutes and in that time you may see families playing, ducks and geese floating in the water, a heron standing perfectly still in the reeds, wild berries in the summertime. We are just a few blocks from the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail, the route of the old Southern Pacific railroad. This paved path stretches 18 miles from the farming village of Castroville in the north to quaint old hometown Pacific Grove to the south. This runner and bike friendly paved path winds past many Monterey attractions along the waterfront, including giant sand dunes, Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, beaches, parks, historic sites and Downtown Monterey. Several local businesses offer bicycle, kayak, surf, paddle board, in-line skate and surrey rentals along the path. You will delight at every mile, enjoying scenic vistas and wildlife viewing, including harbor seals, sea otters, sea lions, birds and sometimes even whales! Walk, run, or bike to downtown Monterey and other famous local attractions. So easy.
  • We loved our stay - it really exceeded our expectations. It truly is a cozy cottage. We found peace and calm in the backyard, we could walk to the beach for a sunset and could eat dinner on the back porch - what more could you want? The cherry on top was Cathy & Robert’s conversation and freshly baked bread!

    Jacs2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Clementine Cottage is charming and so are hosts Cathy and Robert. Highly recommend!

    Lisa2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful 2 months in Cathy and Robert’s place. I loved the location. I liked how it was so close to the highway 1 entrance. It’s right at the edge of Monterey and Seaside. I think I ended up eating most of my meals in Seaside. The place is private and at the back of Cathy and Robert’s house. You get a private entrance through the backyard. It’s very spacious and had plenty of room to hang up and store my things. The bathroom is ADA compliant so the shower is big but is in the same area as the toilet. There’s a large curtain that pulls all the way around the shower area. It takes some getting used to. Eventually I found the best angle to point the shower head to minimize the amount of water that got close to the toilet. Cathy and Robert were very responsive and friendly. Whenever I had any problems or needed refills in some of the amenities, they were quick to respond. This place was definitely a great place to stay in Monterey!

  • Cathryn and Robert are the best hosts anyone could ask for. They made everything so easy and were very easy to talk to in case I needed anything. Robert's paintings made the space extra special too, and more than once he dropped off some freshly baked bread for me (it was delicious!). I had a wonderful stay and recommend Cathryn and Robert's place for anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Sarah2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Cathy are THE BEST Airbnb hosts on the planet. They have become family. The cottage is wonderful in every way, and I cannot wait to come back sometime in the near future. Book without hesitation!!

    Alexandre2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy cottage is a great place to live! We stayed there for more than two months and had a great time! The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen is small but you have everything to cook a great meal! We also enjoyed the small terrace in the morning, with some coffee and the best bread from our host Robert. Thank you!

    Annika2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Cathy and Robert’s place for two months and thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The room had a private entrance as described and I stayed warm while I was there. I didn’t cook, but they have plenty of cooking appliances available for use. The bed was comfy, the sheets were very soft, and everything about it felt like home. Also, their home is close to so many local spots! Downtown Monterey, the aquarium, and Carmel are all about a 15 min drive. You can also walk to the park in the neighborhood. Cathy and Robert were very generous hosts! And they make the most amazing sourdough bread! I highly recommend this Airbnb.

  • It's a clean, charming 1904 Victorian; it's a cool space with beautiful, artisan workmanship. Don't worry, the shower works but you'll puzzle over it until you read the sign if you get the same room I had. :) And yes, all the other plumbing works very well; obviously they've done an excellent rehab. There is still cosmetic work remaining like painting but it is purely cosmetic. The hosts are very nice and responsive. The parlor in my building had silverware and wine glasses for guests. There is private parking so you do not have to park in the street although there is plenty of street parking if you so prefer. On a somewhat related note, I've lived and traveled throughout California since 1967. If I ever moved back I would move to Pacific Grove and not just for the location. It's the only town in California I've found that brings me back to my childhood when people said hello to passersby. I hope your experience is the same.

  • This place is super cute and in a convenient location. Super clean and cozy, very quiet, free parking, fast free WiFi, and walking distance to the beach, aquarium, and tons of restaurants. It's an older house but it's really been updated indoors to feel more modern which was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely stay here again!

Dog-friendly room with run of the house in a large bay-view property close to town. Yes, "run of the house" means you can use the kitchen, dining room, living room, yard, and deck! Since this is only available as a monthly rental, the rate has already been discounted in the base price. Situated in a quiet forest next to town, you’ll love our place because of the seclusion when you want it, and the access when you need it. Walking distance from shopping and restaurants.
Your space is the smaller of the two rooms upstairs in a charming home in the wooded neighborhood of Mar Vista park. Although the bathroom is shared, the other room has a private half bath, which decreases the traffic in the shared bath. Please be aware that this is a traditional owner occupied Airbnb. This is not one of the recent wave of investment properties that are hosted by hired help and managed as a full service hotel. Although the owner makes every effort to prepare the bed and the house for each guest, he supports the B&B alone, has a career, is a full time graduate student, and serves in the military. So outgoing guests are asked to strip the bed and leave the house as clean and tidy as they found it, and there may be times when the owner is called away, and a new guest will have to make their own bed. In other words, even though the house is regularly professionally cleaned, you are not buying concierge service with this room. Instead, you are getting the benefit of a home away from home, and sharing a friendly and cozy house with locals. Expect pets and their shedding, as well as other guests and residents to be about. If you like having a kitchen to use, sipping your coffee in the woods with a view of the bay, sitting by the fire on the deck at night, and meeting interesting people and dogs, this place is for you.. and if it is for you, you know how rare of a thing it is to find.
It is extremely rare to find a large, secluded and quiet wooded property so close to town in Monterey. This place has the best of both worlds. Seclusion when you need it, and access when you want it. We are on the low side of the hill on the outer end toward Carmel; high enough to have a birds eye, but low enough to be accessible.
  • Jason was a great host! He always responded fast to all my questions if I had any. I enjoyed my time staying at his place. His place was very peaceful and surrounded by nature while at the same time very close to all the popular spots like cannery row, the fisherman’s wharf, downtown Monterey etc. Jason’s place is very well equipped and had all the amenities you need to have a comfortable stay. His place is very conveniently close to a Safeway, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods for all your grocery needs. If you want a great place to experience Monterey while being close to all the popular areas, I definitely recommend staying at Jason’s.

  • If you love coffee, easy atmosphere, wine, and being around a great host then this is the place for you. I stayed here for months as a travel nurse at CHOMP (only a 4 min drive). The location is perfect and close to grocery stores, the beach, and more. Jason is really accommodating and kind. Easy to communicate with, and readily available. Also animals are more than welcome :) I look forward to staying next time I’m in Monterey.

    Catherine2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jason’s place is a rare find in the world of Airbnb’s. The fact that he cares so much about his guests and their experience coupled with the opportunity to travel with my dogs has been unmatched so far in my travels. My room was comfortable and the shared bath was never a problem even when there were two other people using it. I loved the common area, Felt comfortable cooking in the kitchen; hanging in the living room as well as enjoying the spacious wooded backyard where my dogs were in heaven! The location of Jason’s Airbnb is great. It’s close to Highway 1, downtown Monterey and Carmel. I loved that the whole area is dog-friendly. You will not find a better value.

    Jan2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is in a very beautiful location! You are super close to everything, yet you still feel like you are enough out of the city to experience more nature. You’ll have the chance to meet other travelers. My dog was very welcome here which made it super easy on me! Jason was quick to respond, and overall I was very happy with my stay :)

    Chyanne2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jason is just terrific; he’s kind, easy to get along with, very direct, and always accessible. Plus, he’s just a normal, genuine, easy going, fun to be around human being, the kind of person who’s comfortable in their own skin. He’s very thoughtful and accommodating. I appreciate the terrific coffee and biscottis he provides in the morning, and he went the extra mile offering me some Epsom Salts to soak in the bath after I fell and was pretty sore. He has a good eye for and attends to detail, and I find it impressive that such a young man, an obvious talented jack of all trades (skilled remodeler of his house, surfer, mechanic, and other “guy” stuff) does such a outstanding job maintaining his AirBnB home & rooms with such a relaxed poise, an easy finesse, while masking his true worries about soft sheets and towels. Also, he can be counted on to be a good source of info on the Monterey area, knows all the spots, restaurants, shopping, etc. I’m still here and haven’t left yet, and don’t want to. I just switched rooms. I stayed the Master - switched to the littlest room then back to the Master again, so I’ve got a pretty good idea of the layout of the land, and will likely be continuing my stay. There’s a tv with Roku in every room, and his WiFi has been stable and fast. I love to work on my computer out on the deck during the day, and lately I’ve been hanging out on one of two hammocks. Super peaceful. The backyard is huge, fenced, which my two dogs love. It’s quiet, forested, huge trees, and the street above is lovely as well to take the dogs out for a walk. Though you can’t see the ocean, I especially like it at night when I can hear the sea otters or sea lions (not sure which) barking from the backyard. I can’t recommend it more highly.

  • Jason is a super host who takes care of business. Very attentive to your needs, easy to get along with, makes you feel like family. Highly recommend.

  • Jason and his house was wonderful. Host was kind and thoughtful. So I could feel comfortable in his house. Jason made me comfortable and helped me enjoy Monterey's life. And the house was always clean because Jason is tidy person. ^^ This U.S.A. visit was first time. But I could stay at his house without any difficulty. If I have a chance to visit Monterey one more time, I would like to use his house again. ^^

  • Lone Oak was cute and the perfect little motel stay for a solo trip to monterey/big sur. Clean, and easy to check-in/out. Quiet mostly! I enjoyed my stay and would stay again. I wish they actually had a comforter on the bed, they have thin blankets so I had to ask for a couple extra to stay warm otherwise it was fine!

It's also in the middle of a beautiful, peaceful forest, perfect for relaxing and having a great night of sleep. She also offered us coffee, cereal, and fruit every morning, which I thought was super thoughtful. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would highly recommend her place.

Asilomar State Beach Pacific Grove also has a thoroughly modern focus on green elements like nature and sustainability. Its beaches, such as Asilomar State Beach, located right on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, are perfect spots for kayaking or surfing — and some of the fish you see on the Bay may turn up in your sustainable seafood dinner that night. Asilomar State Beach offers visitors beach and coast trail walks and a short, accessible boardwalk loop through the Asilomar Dunes Natural Preserve. Museums The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History gives children and adults insight into the ever-evolving story of the Monterey Peninsula, with both human artifacts and exhibits on the flora and fauna of the area. Point Pinos Lighthouse Visitors can also learn what life was like when Pacific Grove was remote and wild by visiting the Point Pinos Lighthouse, the oldest continually operating lighthouse on the West Coast. This lighthouse sits on the northernmost tip of the Monterey Bay Peninsula; its beacon has flashed nightly as a guide and warning to ships off the rocky California coast since February 1, 1855. Monarch Butterflies Pacific Grove's status as one of the top Monarch butterfly wintering-over spots has procured it the nickname of "Butterfly Town, USA." If you're fortunate enough to be in Pacific Grove during the fall or winter, you will be witness to one of nature's most incredible spectacles: the annual migration of the Monarch butterflies. Tens of thousands of Monarchs descend on Pacific Grove in October and take up residence in the pines and eucalyptus trees of the Monarch Grove Butterfly Sanctuary. What's Nearby Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca For all motorcycle, Grand Prix and AMA Superbike racing fans, the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is a 2.238-mile world renowned race track and just 20 minutes from the Pacific Grove Inn. Carmel-by-the-Sea The village of Carmel-by-the-Sea charms visitors with forested streets and the old English inspired the architecture of Hugh Comstock that looks as if it would be at home in the pages of a Fairy Tale. Carmel City Beach is famous for its beautiful white-sand, dog-friendly beach and surfing. The performing arts are alive and well, with concerts and plays at the Golden Bough Theatre, Sunset Center and outdoor Forest Theatre. Dare we mention the hundreds of shops, art galleries, and restaurants? The historic Carmel Mission offers daily tours. Point Lobos Traveling south from Carmel-by-the-Sea on California Highway One, visitors will pass the sands of Monastery Beach, Continuing on, Point Lobos can best be described as a "Bucket List destination". You have to see it to believe it. Point Lobos State Park, offers miles of hiking trails along the rugged coastline. Point Lobos’ rich underwater habitat is often referred to as the Crown Jewel of the State Park system. Monterey Monterey is home to Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row, where John Steinbeck drew inspiration for his novel about life in the sardine fishing and canning industry. Today, Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row are lined with hotels, shops, and restaurants, and features fun activities for the entire family. Carmel Highlands & Big Sur Further on down California Highway One, the Carmel Highlands offer rich woodlands sloping to the rugged coast. The are offers such features as Yankee Point and Yankee Cove, before delivering visitors to Garrapata State Park, the world-famous Bixby Bridge, the Redwood forests and rugged coastline of Big Sur.
  • Great location in Monterey, walkable to beach. Very nice room with good value compared to other similar postings in the Monterey/Carmel area.

  • What was a b&b is now a b. Although there is no host onsite the response to an issue was most immediate. The facility is in need of some repair it appears that the new owners are moving it that direction.

  • The location was excellent. I enjoyed my stay here. Parking is super bonus. I didn’t meet host which I don’t mind at all. Only thing confusing was on room door it says it costs $1000 per day and I got scared lol. It also says leave key in drop box or you’ll be charged $100 but there’s no key, just code to get in, bit misguided. And that my id was required at check in but that never happened. I’m super easy going but yes thank you for my stay! Would recommend to anyone

  • We had a wonderful stay with Linda! The room was cute, private, and comfortable, and close to many great locations in Monterey.

    Brooke2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's house is clean and the location is easy to find. It was very cold at night, and maybe no heating was found. There are many instructions on the wall, and even the shower host will ask to wipe off the water, so the check-in experience is a bit nervous, for fear of doing something wrong.

  • If you want genuinely caring hosts, calm quiet mornings with a delicious breakfast spread, a sunny garden to read in, a fire crackling in the chilly evenings, and a hillside view of the city and ocean.. this is the airbnb! I spent a beautiful 7 days with Annemarie and Jesse while visiting my brother. I loved every second of it. Not just a house, really is a home.

    Solee2020-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Annemarie and Jesse's place was a short, but wonderful experience! Location was great (as I was traveling up from Route 1) and check-in was super easy. This was by far the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in - the building itself is gorgeous and immaculate with so many nice touches. It truly made me feel like I was staying with friends in their cozy house. I stayed for just one night and wish I would have been there for more. Breakfast and the company was fantastic - I look forward to visiting Seaside again soon!

    Joie2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying at Jesse and Annemarie’s home. They are a wonderful host! Their home is in a safe neighborhood and as a single female traveler this was a huge plus. I highly recommend staying at their home if you’re traveling to the Monterey area. :-)

    Tara2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This sweet bed and breakfast was a lovely landing pad on my trip. The garden is beautiful the home is cozy and the vibe of the owners and the people staying there was warm and easy. Breakfast was yummy. Rooms were clean. The shared bathroom was super clean and not hard to share at all. Loved that the gluten free cookie jar was always full of yummy cookies. I would definitely stay here again.

    Sirena2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Can't recommend this place enough! The atmosphere as soon as you walk through the gates is an oasis of peace, nourishment, and friendly welcoming. The home itself is beautiful and bright with an amazing wrap around garden I could have spent days just relaxing and reading in. It was a quick 10 min drive from Monterrey where there are many restaurant options, and an easy 30 min drive to the entrance of Big Sur. Super close to other sight seeing places like Point Lobos. The breakfast included was delicious and homemade, as were the cookies and 24 hr tea bar. The art on the walls, made by Annemarie added a beautiful homey touch to a house that already felt so personalized and welcoming. I can't speak highly enough of the folks who run this place- it felt like walking into the home of an old friend. The facilities were sparkling clean and felt rich in personality, historic culture, and aesthetic. I definitely wish I had had a few more days to stay here longer and look forward to coming back!

  • STAY!!! HERE!!! To say that Annemarie & Jesse were amazing would be an understatement😍 This was my first solo trip (not my first Airbnb, though) so I was a little nervous booking everything and seeing who I would be with. However, from the moment I got to the house, I was welcomed with open arms and all my nervousness disappeared!! Annemarie and Jesse host with their family and a couple other houseguests and it makes staying in this spot so much more enjoyable. You get a full bed and breakfast experience, the human element, personal care, an amazing home venue, and the stay of a lifetime. I had the pleasure of staying 2 night and I quite literally cut out some of my travel plans to stay and socialize over breakfast with them💕 I don’t know what else to say, except that I will 100% find a way back to this amazing little haven, and if you have the chance to stay here - jump on it!!!

    Andrew2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Diana is a kind host and her cottage is a very special place. I felt relaxed, comfortable, and enjoyed my 5 day trip. Salinas is an adorable old-town, not far from Monterey/Carmel. I had a delicious lunch at John Steinbeck's boyhood home, which is a 10 minute drive from the cottage. I also took a couple lovely day trips to Carmel and Pebble Beach. Highly recommend Diana's place and I hope to come back very soon :)

    Nettie2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Diana’s place was amazing! It truly was a home away from home experience for me. I loved the space and it was a nice place to relax after a busy day of working in the area. I would highly recommend this space for those traveling for work like myself as well as couples or single travelers here for vacation. Whatever your reason, Diana’s place will fit your needs! I will definitely book again when I’m in the area.

  • Such a great experience. Thanks!

    Shanna2020-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bar none; the best AirBNB experience I have ever had. We adored getting to know Ray & Michelle + family. We fell in love with the two patio spaces attached to the unit, and used both for meals, to watch the sunset/sunrise, to exercise, and to pour a glass and relax. The space was spotless and inviting. The bed was comfortable and the shower spacious. The ambiance was top notch! We got some stellar local recommendations. The beach is close and even visible from the top balcony. Ray & Michelle were beyond accommodating when we had concerns or needs. Our stay-cation was magical! Most important, to me, was the fact that Michelle & Ray truly are pet people! My little pup was so happy and welcomed. Loved the little touches in the space specifically for dogs. Great experience all the way around!

  • This spot is a great value. The features of this place were carefully thought out and well maintained. You’ll find this place to be better than any hotel in Monterey or small cottage in Pacific Grove. There are two wonderful balconies to enjoy. The living, dining, and bedroom areas are very comfy. We would gladly stay again!

  • Ray’s place is exactly as described...and more! Cozy spot with plenty of natural light and beautiful views. Easy to get to from the highway and a very relaxing spot to return to at the end of the day. Spacious space with plenty of room to relax, cook a meal, read quietly and sleep! The bed was amazingly comfortable! Ray was very quick to handle an issue we had with hot water, fixing the issue in minutes. He checked in with us to be sure we were comfortable and made sure we knew we could reach he or his wife anytime. Lovely folks! Would definitely stay here again.

*Floor to ceiling windows look out to beautiful large tiled patio and gardens. Window coverings assure your privacy. Our repeat guests love the studio and have affirmed our commitment to providing you with a wonderfully relaxing stay with us. The Calendar is updated daily - feel free to book instantly - the studio is always ready for guests. Please be aware that the second bed (for a third guest), is a twin air bed, which can be found in the closet with extra linens. It can be "tight" with the airbed opened but okay for a place to sleep and then deflate bed during the day, if you are on a budget or for a child. Although we have tried to be as transparent as possible with our description, we invite you to check all of the amenities section for a complete list. Pooches welcome with prior approval! ( $29. pet fee per pooch, per visit.) Completely fenced-in yard, within walking distance to a lovely nature preserve. Pooches are not to be left unattended in yard, due to barking and other issues. We do not accept cats or birds in the studio. If you like peace and privacy, this is the place for you. Please see pet guidelines further down in this description! Come and go as you please at any hour of the day or night without the fear of disturbing us, as you have your own entrance and do not go through the main house at all. Enjoy this fabulous super sunny master bedroom studio, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on huge fenced tiled patio with fruit trees and gardens. I am most welcoming, yet unobtrusive, so that you will find this to be a comfortable oasis. I travel often, of course, I am reachable for any questions, advice, requests or needs via the AirBnB booking thread or cell phone for any urgent matters. You will enter through a side gate, walk down the adobe paved path, lit with motion-sensor spots, through the heirloom roses, which are highly scented when in bloom. No need to go through the main house, as the studio is separate from the rest of the main house, (although attached by one common wall.) You will walk past the main house to enter the studio. Super-private and very quiet, except for the birds, yet centrally located; five minutes to downtown Monterey, Laguna Seca Raceway or CSUMB and ten minutes to Monterey Bay Aquarium. There is a 24-hour Safeway and Walgreen's just 2 minutes away, in case you have any midnight cravings! Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are 10 minutes away. We are located in a wonderful little sun belt, perched high upon a hilltop with a nice view of Monterey Bay in a very quiet residential neighborhood, so typically we are above any fog – especially during the summer season when the rest of the Monterey Peninsula could be socked-in! We are at the top of a street which ends in a cul-de-sac so there is not a lot of through traffic and super-easy street parking right in front of the house. Painted in a soothing palette and tastefully furnished, the studio is comprised of large sunny master bedroom with hardwood floors and your own private updated Travertine marble bathroom (shower - no tub) supplied with towels, hairdryer and high-quality toiletries. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of patio, creating a sunny and bright ambiance. A dimmer switch for the overhead chandelier, a writing table, and new smart TV with remote control plus wi-fi make your stay complete. If you do watch a program or film that has an additional viewing cost on Amazon or Netflix, you will be billed after your checkout. The detailed FAQ binder has been very helpful to our guests and includes restaurant menus and helpful suggestions. Also, there is a lot of info on the local area and attractions. The studio is heated through vents by a gas forced-air furnace, (controlled by the thermostat located in the main house) and if you need extra heat, there are more blankets plus a space heater for your complete comfort. It rarely gets that cold here, but if we do get a cold snap in Jan or Feb I want you to be totally comfortable! A fan is there for those hot days we get once in a while! Sleep peacefully in the Queen-sized bed outfitted with 100% cotton linens (line dried when possible) and cozy blankets, then enjoy breakfast outside on the patio when weather permits. Our guests have raved about the bed! For an extra guest, there is a twin air bed. (tight but doable if you are on a budget or traveling with child.) We use scent-free laundry products. The kitchenette/breakfast bar includes a new microwave, and coffee maker (filters provided - byo coffee please.) The under-the-counter fridge has a separate freezer compartment with ice trays big enough for some frozen foods or ice cream. (Note: this is not a full kitchen, so please don't plan any major cooking in the room.) Set up for reheating, take out, etc. We switched to compostable cups, plates, silverware, etc. There are real wine glasses and mugs. NOTE! We ask that you don't use all appliances at once while using hairdryer, as it may trigger the circuit breaker. Access is through the large fenced-in beautiful, sunny patio in the backyard, filled with organic raised bed vegetable gardens which change seasonally, fruit trees and roses. This is a great location, centrally located between Highway One and Highway 68, near the recreation trail, Frog Pond, beaches and terrific hills for a morning or evening stroll. No smoking inside – okay on patio. Dogs allowed with extra charge of $29. per visit, per pooch. Please advise in advance of any dogs when you are making your booking - i will then send you an alteration to add the pet fee. Pets must be supervised in the backyard at all times. You will be responsible for any pet damage to property. There is a pet section in the FAQ binder which has lots of dog-friendly places in the area. Please also read the following PET GUIDELINES: - dogs are not permitted on the furniture - dogs may only be left in studio if they are kenneled and do not bark when left alone in an unfamiliar place, no exceptions - please bring your own pet bedding and do not use towels, bedspread or bath mats for dogs - dogs may not be left unattended on the back patio, due to complaints of excessive barking and digging - dogs not allowed in garden beds - when walking your pooch, please avoid the neighbors across the street on either corner, as they have complained and I want to keep my neighbors happy! Also, please pick up after your pooch and dispose of properly. A sophisticated foodie and twenty-nine year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, I am a great resource of information if needed. Also, the studio is also stocked with books on the area, local magazines & brochures, and a binder with menus from my favorite restaurants, brochures and information on local attractions, plus various local offers are stashed in the desk drawer. There is a fully equipped gym 2 minutes away for those who want to get their workout in. Check out the desk drawers for passes to one of our local wine tasting rooms and other attractions, as they come available. If you need restaurant recommendations prior to arrival, I am happy to assist. My edited list of favorite go-to spots are in the FAQ binder. If your party is larger than two (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance with questions about twin air bed prior to your arrival. (stored with extra linens in the closet.) Rates may be slightly higher during major events including AT&T Pro-Am, Concours d'Elegance, US Open, Jazz Festival, etc. I live in the main house. Though we do clean the studio thoroughly between guests, you should be aware that we are a dog-friendly property. No cats allowed in the studio. I use scent-free laundry detergent on all of the towels and bed linens. BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE - CALENDAR IS UP-TO-DATE! • I had to move to the Monterey area for a new job and it happened to coincide with Shelter-In-Place restrictions. I couldn't move into my new house for a couple of weeks still, so thankfully Helaine's rental was available. She was extremely accommodating and patient with me with all the chaos that ensued with COVID-19, my pets and the upcoming move. I couldn't have asked for a better spot to Shelter in Place, as her house was close to everything I needed for necessities and she was available to answer my questions and replenish my supplies. I would whole-heartedly recommend Helaine's rental to anyone who needs a chic, clean and convenient place to stay while in Monterey.

  • The place surprises you at first with the patio that you walk into, it's very aesthetic. If you are looking for a simple, pleasant stay without too much to it, this is definitely the location. Helaine is also a great host with some great food recommendations for the area.

  • Renata and Richard were great host. This was our first time staying in a shared airbnb home. We were kind hesitant at first. But everything worked out ok and we end up loving the place. They were good with giving us local activities to do and also with giving us directions to get around. I would recommend this listing.

  • The bed was very comfortable and the hosts were very helpful and hospitable! They gave us many different recommendations for things to do as we traveled south down the PCH including brochures and maps. They also provided coffee and cereal in the main kitchen in the morning. We did not realize that there was another AirBnb room in this house until the morning, but everyone was very quiet and we had our own private bedrooms and bathrooms.
